The burger was succulent and tender, Tom was friendly and helpful... It was our first time but we will be back soon!

Just dropped in for a take out classic burger (with jalapeños of course). Just to say was absolutely lovely, ready on time, hot fresh fries. Place looked rammed with a great atmosphere 10/10

Food is always good but it's quite a rushed experience dining there. There's only one veggie option on the menu.

A fantastic burger restaurant in a quaint building set up making good use of its space. Although small you don't feel closed in with large windows and well positioned tables giving plenty of room up on it's second floor. The burgers are top notch, cooked perfectly with a varying selection of toppings giving an eclectic choice of burger to have and a mixture of sides to accompany it. The staff are always friendly and attentive along with the kitchen staff that in most places are not often seen but here you get a good view of the kitchen downstairs as you enter, again great use of space. Awesome place for a proper burger.

How was the burger? I wouldn't know. Called in on the way through and was told you had to scan the QR code, install the app, order, and pick a time slot for collection, but there was a 2 hour wait. Not sitting in the car for 2 hours no matter how good they may be...... maybe next time if we plan in advance for a takeaway. Burger elsewhere was good and a lot quicker.

The current place is cramped which takes away from the experience there but there will be new premises soon! Good and service are impeccable

Superb burger, served quickly. I loved that it was served pink (you can ask for it well done) and there is a choice of sides included in the price rather than fries. Staff were friendly. Very good value.

What can I say about this place?! Absolutely stunning burgers. Fries always cooked to perfection too. Best burgers we’ve had (and we’ve had a lot)! We’ve been back many many times and we travel all the way from Manchester. Simple food done really well. Fair prices too.

Went as a family of 4 with two young children. The food & burgers were good. I think the reviews set the bar too high in terms of expectation, which it sadly didn’t meet. Some of the smaller details are just not quite there - but overall, the food was ok. The layout and seating/facilities are the reason we wouldn’t go back. There’s only one toilet, which is actually downstairs, outside and slightly further along the street (with a sliding door which’s opens on to the pavement) - which isn’t ideal with an 8 & 4 year old. Would get takeaway, but wouldn’t eat in again. Just not practical.

We didn't even get a warm welcome.... I'm having chemo treatment and after a really tough couple of weeks I took a taxi with my brother and looked forward to a burger as we had been many times and enjoyed it. Sunday 4.30pm we walked through the door, the lady at the bar was taking an order so we waited..... 15 minutes later a young lady asked us if we were ok, I asked if we could have a table, there were a few tables available but she said we couldn't until 7.45, I was agast...... I questioned that I'd heard her correctly and repeated nothing available for 3 hours although tables were free and she just said no. We had never booked before and she wanted us to wait in the rain for 3 hours and be seated 15 minutes before they closed. I was shocked at the coldness and basically felt our business was not required at the restaurant, so we left. It had taken great effort to get ready to go eat and a taxi ride specifically to the location, just to be treated with the rudeness and strange behaviour. I was very upset about the whole encounter, so I called a taxi and went home.

This was the best burger I've had while eating out . Great service and very friendly staff.

Rumpus in Slaithwaite is a must-visit for any burger enthusiast! The burgers are fantastic and the specials are always something to look forward to The staff are friendly and helpful and the atmosphere is cozy and inviting. Here's to when new place opens that's going to be bigger and better

We’ve always enjoyed the burgers here, they are top class. We’ve noticed recently though that the service has become rushed. You barely have time to get your coat off before you’re being asked what you’d like to drink and once you’ve finished eating, the bill isn’t far behind, you don’t need to ask for it, it just appears quickly. They want you in and out as quickly as possible. It just feels like a production line. 75 minutes isn’t long enough in my opinion. Might just do take away in future.

Modern up and coming eatery great atmosphere and large windows give open feeling even though only a narrow building. Good choice of burgers and chips had various toppings available. All tasted very nice though not a large portion of chicken on my burger and it fell to pieces after biting into it. Great service but toilets are outside.

Love this place. Food is great, everything always really tasty whether dining in or taking out. Very good selection, good portion size.

Nine of us staying in an Airbnb locally had this place recommended by a young lady in the local Craft Brewery (see separate review) - it was a very short notice booking and we managed to get a reservation to eat at 4.30pm basis we vacated table by 6.00pm. Had checked the on line menu and looked good and have to say absolutely delighted with what we found - the place is very small with seating upstairs. We all had burgers, either beef or chicken - superb and some of the best I’ve had in the UK - cooked pink (the beef that is) - wonderful. Service was great from start to finish, whole meal was great and prices very reasonable. Couldn’t speak highly enough of the whole experience. I’d say booking is essential and once again wouldn’t hesitate to recommend or return m

This place is incredible from top to bottom. I can't wait until it moves to the bank . My burger was perfectly cooked. Just as you expect it. Price seems fair when it comes to size, so by quality, it is reasonably priced. Can't comment on consistency, but I will update once I visit more. Really relax atmosphere just what you expect. This place is by far and by many people's opinions the best burger restaurant in the whole West Yorkshire region

Have visited this restaurant 3 times and could not recommend it enough. The quality of the burgers are amazing, well worth the journey 👌 would appreciate starter options or more choice of sides on the menu as it is only burgers and fries, but aside from that it is still amazing

Great artisan burgers. What's not to like. No better burgers around.

Heard good things about Rumpus, so I decided to give it a go and wasn't disappointed. Booked a table for 5. All had different burgers, including a vegetarian, all cooked well and very tasty. 5 drinks were also bought, and a couple of upgrades to topped chips. 92.00 in total. Well worth it, in my opinion. It's very small, but I didn't feel crammed in, and it's also upstairs, so those with mobility may struggle. 100% would recommend it, though.

Me and my husband called in on the off chance.Neither of us had been before. What a pleasant surprise. Its small, but funky.It was relatively quiet when we went (Lunchtime) So managed to get a seat. Wow.tasty burger.And VERY filling (Albeit a bit messy when things kept falling out) The chips were tasty aswell, as though they had a coating on them.Hubby opted for chicken burger.He said it tasted strong, as though it was off the bone (More flavoursome) The dinner beer and burger in such a funky setting is one which we wished we'd visited sooner..Plus, on another note. A funeral cortege came past.There was a table of 3 males on another table.And 2 of whom acknowledged the cortege going past in a very respectful manner. All in all.We will be back.The waitress explained to us that they were going to be moving into bigger premises.We wish you success

Very small but very smartly decorated restaurant (Definitely recommend booking as I imagine it's full at peak meal times!) The burger was very good. Menu says 6oz but it felt bigger to me! The texture of the meat was amazing, perfectly grilled, still some pink in the middle which I had hoped for, and was amazingly soft and melted in my mouth. It would have been one of the best burgers I've had if it had been seasoned more. Although the look and texture was perfect, there just wasn't as much taste as I'd hoped for (wasn't much of a flavour to the meat). But there is potential for this to be an amazing burger! The burgers come with fries (included in the price), and I wasn't expecting much after seeing pictures in other reviews. But I have now learnt not to judge fries by their looks! The fries were really really good. Lovely and crispy on the outside and really fluffy inside. And a good portion! I wouldn't normally eat all the fries as well as a burger, but I couldn't stop eating the fries and ended up finished them all! The service was also very efficient and professional, and the prices were perfect for the quality and amount of food. We will definitely come back here again, and I would highly recommend it.

Rumpus is consistently the best burger, we often get takeaway and it never disappoints. From specials to classic menu items we have never had a bad experience. We would love to sit In and eat in the restaurant however our 3 kids aren’t at the point where they can enjoy the experience yet. The restaurant is always busy which seems to me a good sign.

It's a burger joint using locally sourced ingredients one of the best burgers I have had. The place is tiny but they have packed a lot in it's a must visit if you are in the area.

A really tasty burger in a very intimate venue. The location a very quaint and picturesque. Toilet outside is a bit strange but the place is challenged for space. The views out of the restaurant are nearly as good as the burger. Some really interesting concepts and twists on a burger. Top score for food. This review is edited. I originally had quite a negative experience but after trying again, I think this was an isolated incident so I am eating my humble pie and setting the record straight - I would recommend Rumpus.

If you want a proper, top quality burger then look no further. There isn't a place which can compete! The burgers consist of fresh, prime quality, local produce, are succulent and are consistently cooked to perfection. On offer is a vast selection of burgers, all of which are unique and leave you eager to work your way through the menu. You can also tailor your burger to suit your individual tastes, with additional toppings such as halloumi, spicy cheddar and pulled pork available. I'm never bored of visiting Rumpus as the menu's depth allows for me to have a rotation of my favourite burgers, as well as the specials, which are usually change every 2 weeks, adding some extra flavour and excitement. The service is consistently fantastic and always comes with a smile. Drinks arrive swiftly and the Rumpus team are thorough with the ordering process. It's a 10/10 from me!

Fabulous place, been before, some changes to the menu but not as I remember.bused to get salad and chips and sauce was included. Had. Seoul Burger with chips is very filling.

Four of us booked for dinner service. We were served by Tom who was great. He was engaging and informative and attentive. Our meals were delicious. Definitely recommend 👌

Highly overrated. Unseasoned slab of dry mince served on a messy over complicated bun. I think maybe they thought the rest of the bun could carry the tasteless burger. Couldn’t eat it. Asked for salt & pepper to try help season the meat. I like beef rare as possible so didn’t suit my taste. When asked how meal was wasn’t given time to give my feedback I wouldn’t have been paying but my partner did. Visibly hadn’t eaten mine. Won’t be going back.

Not worth the price for a pimped up burger. Take out cost £3 more than it said on the menu, then it was £1 extra for mayo, which seems ridiculous at £15 for burger and fries.

Amazing food, Tom was fantastic, super funny and nothing was a bother for him. Only downside is there was no air conditioning but the incredible food made up for it!

How burgers should be…. Not flat… not too big that you can’t fit it in your mouth! The burger tastes amazing, the chips were perfect! 100% come here if in the Colne Valley! I’m still struggling to find a better burger shop!

Service: Fantastic Food: Delicious Atmosphere: Pretty good (I didn't eat indoors due to how busy it was, I ate just outside). First time experience, I'd say it was fantastic, as mentioned above, everything was great, from food to staff, cleanliness and service, I mean the place was full at 7pm, that says it all to be honest. I don't come round to Huddersfield too often, but when I do, I'll pop round to Rumpus for a bite. Word of advice, talking directly to the owner of Rumpus right now, I would spread your restaurants to other places like Bristol, it London, maybe Cambridge? Why? Because the UK needs a taste of your food! Tldr: I would recommend going here!

Order a burger today which was the cluckster and messaged rumpus online about how over done the burger was as you can see from the picture. The message was seen but no reply was given so for that reason I find it very unprofessional and definitely not happy with what service I received.

Had their takeaway. The food was still amazing.

Listed as one of the top ten burger places in Yorkshire, we had to go. Our friends also said it was a good place to go, so we were expecting great things. We were not disappointed at all. On arrival Rumpus was busy giving out takeaway orders we were welcomed up to the restuarant seating area, which was pretty cool. Quickly attended to, the menu sounded great, fear the beast burger said it all, a 12oz burger with all sorts, we ordered two, and a blue cheese 6oz burger. They came fairly quickly, the kitchen looked well capable, you could see it all when you walked in. Well they looked BOSS! F, T, B LOOKED IMENSE. I wasn't sure how I was going to eat it, but I knew it wasn't with a knife, had to get dirty with it, straight in, WOW! We'd finished we left a going out the whole kitchen team said goodbye. Thanks guys what a great place!

Booked last minute, and we didn't regret it. The staff were very welcoming. Rumpus had a nice ambiance. My wife had the classic burger, and a salad, and the Chipotle dip, and I had a fear the burger, and slaw, and a chipotle dip. My wife said it was the best burger she had ever had, and I think the same. They were cooked to perfection.

Cracking burger restaurant, booking is essential. Food was great and American female waitress was very pleasant.

We drove 45 minutes to get here, we arrived to order takeout and when we arrived we were told there would be a 1hr 20 minute wait before we could PLACE our order 😳 the guy had some sort of app and said we'd have to wait this long(for the next time slot)to order to takeaway! What that was about I do not know, but we won't be wasting our time again......the place was empty inside maybe two or three tables occupied Nothing on the website said to pre order or order in advance 🤔

As per usual the best burger ever. Amazing taste way better than anywhere else the competition is nowhere near. Can't wait to come back.

Had an excellent burger and fries at the rumpus burger , When we arrived we were spoken to by the front of house host who was very friendly and welcoming although advised there would be no problem tables until later in the evening so we opted to take out , we went for the teriyaki fries and the chicken burger , both made with fresh ingredients the fries were crisp and fresh and the burger was full of nicely spiced chicken along with onion bhaji and mango chutney (something I’d never seen elsewhere but the flavours worked very well together ) ,overall I would highly recommend rumpus burger and look forward to going back again although be sure warned Rumpus burger gets very busy so you are required to book in advance to avoid disappointment. 5/5

We got a takeaway burger, it was delicious and good value for money!

We ordered takeout i Classic with house fries ii Long horn with salt and pepper fries Long story short, this restaurant was recommended. We drove from Wakefield to try the takeout menu. The food was pre ordered for a collection time which was great. The food was poor. Salt and pepper chips with no salt-6oZ burger with no flavour, no condiments in the takeout bag the classic had no flavour to the beef. The best part of this meal was the fresh vegetables used to stack the burger. Very expensive for a glorified McDonalds and unfortunately McDonalds wins on price and flavour. Sorry guys maybe it was a bad day! Won’t be coming back.

Fabulous burgers in an interesting building.(built over an old public facility)The staff were very friendly and helpful. I understand that they have another Rumpus burger establishment in Saltaire. I look forward to visiting the other branch when I visit the Saltaire heritage site.

Lives up to its reputation, and more, absolutely delicious, we went on the 15th March for my grandaughters birthday,we all really enjoyed it,

A bit shocked myself to be writing such a poor review for Rumpus, I’ve been a regular customer for years and stand by their burgers are another level, but was put off by my recent visits customer service and I’m hoping Rumpus pick up on this before losing day 1 customers. Turned up for the booking of 4 on the dot, our friends were 5 minutes early but they were nicely seated anyway, they rang me when they had been seated and during the call the waiter asked if we wanted to order drinks over the phone so they would be ready when we got there, at the time I thought it was actually polite but we weren’t sure what we wanted on the spot (their drinks menu is a little limited) so left it until we got there. Me and my partner had just been seated to the table whilst unzipping our coats when the waiter asked what drinks we’d like, I asked for a minute to decide, then immediately realised the chat earlier wasn’t polite we were just being rushed. Eventually we ordered food and drinks, waiter left us alone then two of us were then given our ordees, we started eating the chips before realising that they weren’t the right order, the waiter took these from us abruptly then went downstairs for what seemed like no longer than 30 seconds before coming back upstairs with the plates we’d just started eating off and giving them to another table? They had every right to refuse them, couldn’t believe it. Not sure what happened in those seconds, maybe everything was remade but that seems impossible. We then got our correct orders, food was delicious! but it was the usual taking the plates from under your face the second you put your knives and forks down scenario, by this point we were annoyed. The waiter then topped it all off to go on and say they needed the table back for a specific time, and within minutes dropped off our big old bill £. As I said previously, I have loved this place for years and never had a bad word to say about it before this time, but felt particularly poor and other customers should be aware just in case. Rumpus, if you’re overbooked just tell your customers rather than muddling your way through an awful service.

Had lunch here on Sunday. Great food burgers were tasty and cooked to perfection. Service was splendid. If you like a burger this is the place for you.

I went for the Sweet and Spicy Chorizo Special Burger and the Dirty Hog Fries. Fries with pulled pork - very nice! Decent portion of fries and pork, nice flavours. The burger was not the best burger I had in my life but above average. However it was lacking flavour. There was a bit of the "sweet" but definitely not enough "spicy". Great service, quick, polite and attentive. Tiny retaurant, just couple of tables upstairs but the place is very clean an tidy.

About time I rated this place, amazing burgers (actually the best!), super friendly staff and right on my doorstep. Highly recommend the hog fries as a treat, but even the standard chips are soooo good!
