A proper, genuine pub. No gloss or glitz. Good range of beers and ciders at great prices. All below £5. For me, the only reason to visit Swindon.

Lovely location we will be back for an explore . Absolutely delicious 😋 food. Homity pie with mash greens and gravy - lamb pie with chips and greens - wonderful. Sundy roasts look amazing so will be booking next for those and have made plans with freinds to to come soon and will bring my son when home next. Really friendly pub ! Love it - I wonder what's on right move 🤔 every village is made better by it's local.and this will be no exception .

Nice traditional hotel. People should support local independent trading instead of using the big faceless globalists.

5 of us went on a Saturday evening and were extremely impressed with both the standard of cooking, presentation and service. Jez, Holly and Jamie were appropriately attentive and there was nothing we could really criticise. As a group the courses we had that were the rabbit lasagne, fish soup monkfish, steak and chocolate delice which also looked beautiful. A seriously good chef and appropriately limited menu.

Lots of character in this pub - I love the vibe of the clientele and the vibe. However, the bartender couldn’t have been more disinterested in service. I politely asked if I could taste a beer. Her sighs were exasperating after my request and she reluctantly slammed glass on the counter. I felt like I was asking for a kidney donation. I brushed it off and thanked her profusely after my order, with a smile. Came back later for another round and it was even worse. At best, she was having a bad night but there are still basic ways of treating customers so they don’t feel like intruders.

The Mountain inn - Lutton Only went in for drinks on a weekend afternoon with a few friends, pub was relatively quiet, however the barman couldn’t be any ruder, when coming to a local but otherwise new pub to me I don’t expect to feel unwelcome when asking if we can “order a few drinks” for the reply to be “well that is what the bar is here for” which was served with a blunt-non jokingly manner. I wasn’t born yesterday and I do understand what a bar is and its purpose, so cheers for clarifying. Other than that, The drinks selection was good, and other staff (perhaps land lady?) were more accommodating, however the introduction to this pub unfortunately means I wouldn’t come back for another, it’s a shame because the pub itself is really nice.

We ended our festive Treasure Hunt at The Chequers this week, and what a great venue it is! Adrienne, Rob and the team looked after over 50 of us, serving delicious food and drink with amazing, unflustered speed. A really lovely, old fashioned pub with great food, a warm welcome and well worth a visit.

Bulling service, food couldn't be faulted however. Pre ordered our family meal, to give the kitchen a heads up. Arrived early, but shown to our seats while ordering a drink. Was asked how we wanted the steaks that were ordered. Said we were early and 2 of the table hadn't arrived yet, so wasn't sure. Waitress comes back literally 1 min later, how do you want the steaks cooked?...still our party wanst complete. Then the landlord came over...we have started to cook your food we need to know how you want your steaks?....now bearing in mind it has now just turned 6.30pm (which is when our table was booked for) i turned to him and said I hope your not cooking our food 2 people are still to arrive?....he stormed off....a sip of a drink later, the chef then appears! We need to know how you want your steaks?...I replied again, we still do not know we are still waiting for 2 people....with that I saw the rest of our party arrive, so I dashed outside and asked the question. Please bear in mind, we arrived early. Table booked for 6.30pm. 2 of our party arrived at 6.36pm!!!!!!!!! I would understand if the time keeping was ridiculously late...BUT COME ON! The huffing and puffing of inconvenience we received was shocking. The continued badgering over food (and the amount of times asked in such a short amount of time) was unprofessional. The pub wasn't packed out.....maybe it's time for a job change for the chef and the landlord? When the food arrived, it tasted great...and so did the steak!....but would i go back? I'm a afriad Service is part of the experience....so it would be a No.
