We booked to use the downstairs bar and conservatory for a funeral wake. Thomas and Melissa came through for us, big time! A constant supply of hot drinks, and a really excellent buffet, again regularly replenished. With their help, we had a very relaxed atmosphere to share our memories of happier times, while celebrating the life of a much loved departed loved one.

The food was lovely, the waitress was excellent but... we were the only people there. The decor and the look of the place was firmly stuck in the 1980's, it had the look of your granny's front room. It wouldn't take much to bring it up to date, get rid of the terrible artwork, the drapes and maybe the artex. It was Christmas, there was no tree or decorations. Also the menu needs bringing up to date, when we asked for vegetarian options we were offered an omlette although they did come up with something lovely in the end. If it doesn't update I can't see it lasting much longer as I imagine their core customer base is dying off. Sorry to be so negative, as we really enjoyed the food and the service.

Went here for my husband's 60th birthday with our family we had a brilliant experience. Service and food is excellent, we couldn't fault a single thing. Also had the added pleasure of a pianist playing in the background. Staff were amazing as was the food, everyone enjoyed it. This was exactly what I was looking for in terms of venue, location, food, service and ambience. Everything is 5 star. Wouldn't hesitate in recommending.

We came here as a family for my brother in laws birthday in April. And as usual we had a fabulous 3 course meal. For starter I had a Salmon and Prawn Cocktail, which was beautifully presented and the 2 types of seafood compliment eachother brilliantly. For main I had the steak with Melted stilton sauce, although the sauce was more like red wine jus. But either way it will still tasty. Steak cooked to perfection for me (medium rare) and dauphionoise potatos were amazing. And I had a chocolate cake for dessert. The service was good even though the lady was working on her own due to staff illness. Will be going back as usual.

Try updating your website to when you are closed. Turned up last night to dine in Bloomers to find it was closed. Had checked online 2 hours earlier to check it was open, was told by an abrupt lady always best to call. Won't bother going back. Taxi took us to rear of hotel/ restaurant which he thought was the entrance, dumped van and some old truck. Looks like steptoe's yard. Not a great first impression.

A huge thank you to Trevor and Benita who made sure my parents Golden Wedding celebration at Bloomers was a memorable success, they are fabulous hosts, nothing is too much trouble and the restaurant offers a relaxed fairy light and candle lit atmosphere whilst enjoying a wonderful meal. Children were welcome and every one was made to feel very welcome, the family thoroughly enjoyed the evening. Bloomers is a delightful place to visit and we will be back soon.

Having had a stressful few months we decided to treat ourselves to a good evening out in a proper restaurant. We were not disappointed with our choice of Bloomers. The list of starters was so tempting it was hard to choose and the main course and wine selection made the whole evening just what we needed. We had a choice of table and we chose the candlelit conservatory area, the setting was almost like being on holiday. Staff were attentive but not in the way. We have booked again for our anniversary in 3 weeks, can't wait.

Most of food is good but fillet steak was tough as old boots but when it was drawn to their attention the complaint was dismissed as supposibily the chef could cut it with a knife so it was ok. No offer of replacement or reduction in bill or even a drink on the house, very poor customer service no wonder it was empty on a Saturday evening in December.

The kitchen staff and waiting staff along with Benita ensured everything ran smoothly. It was a complete joy to be there, our family and friends loved it all too. We continued our celebrations after in the bar and the staff are excellent at their jobs too, nothing was too much trouble. The resident pianist was fantastic. Once in the bar following our meal we had arranged for a singer to finish off the day. A highly recommended venue with kind and caring staff, making sure everyone has a great experience. Thank you Benita and your fantastic team, you all made our special day extra special

Have not been to Bloomers for 30 years, no particular reason, just forgot it existed. The staff were attentive and friendly., without being in your face. We were pleasantly surprised by the venue and the quality of food. My only gripe would be the car park, having a old white van and a pick up truck does not look good to customers.

We visited here for the 4th time in 6 months of living in Gravesend, looking to have a nice romantic evening and good food to celebrate 8 years together, we ended up dealing with an extremely rude arrogant owner who is in denial! The food standards have dropped since our last visit, however, the prices have not! Here are a few suggestions to help you in recovering what appears to be a hotel/restaurant in need of some help before you close down:*Update your menu or at least offer a selection of specials every now and then (guests would be more obliged to return more often).*Take your guests to the table before their food is ready so they can enjoy the bread roll before eating starters.*Offer proper dinner bread rolls rather than a sandwich bun warmed up.*Ask your guests if they would like to order wine so they don't have to do this while they have food on the table already.*Update your wine list with wines you actually have in stock.*Don't offer non branded alternative champagnes (especially when named house champagne) as the same price as the champagne on your wine list when you have ran out.*Keep at least one bottle in the fridge so when we order it is cold.*Try offering some more lagers other than the one on tap.*Support your very friendly hardworking waitress by working in your restaurant, one waitress is not enough!*Remember the customer (not the arrogant owner) is always right!*Take some training in customer service and/or anger management. You really do not deserve my advise and I know you will ignore it based on the way you spoke to us (mostly sarcastic) after our request to pay the bill and leave but for the sake of other guests I hope you do, we will not be back, as per your request.PS please see my previous review so you can see what a difference we have experienced here, our first experience was also not too great but we gave them a chance, now we wish we didn't!

Be afraid be very afraid.Bloomers has clearly had a change of direction. Having eaten here three times previously the standards have fallen suddenly. From quality food and wines to cheap unbranded frozen poor service.Clearly filling the hotel with builders and offering pie and chips to make end meet is more important than quality. Rarely have a felt the need to complain about food or service but the owners attitude was a joke both rude and oblivious to his pathetic new standards this guy is living in the eighties and needs Gordon Ramsay to kick him up the #### before his business flushes down the toilet.I have spent well over £1000 in this restaurant in 4 visits in a few months according to the owner this means nothing. He told us not to return if this is how he takes complaints no one should eat here and we certainly won't. The guy is a joke and without the standards so is the restaurant. Avoid like the plague

My last visit to Bloomers was some 30yrs ago and I was pleased to see that it has kept up its quality and feeling of being 'that special venue' when I returned recently. The food was excelent and the venue something to mark in your list of great options. If I could offer a couple of potential spoilers though, an old derelict looking truck parked in the car park tends to blemish the shine of that 'special evening', as does the pot holes in the gravel, especially when they are full of water and the depth is unknown when your special lady is trying to get to the entrance.Other than than that, this is a serious contender for the venue of the borough.

The food in this restaurant is really good. Good quality and certainly value for money. They only problem is the waitress is too familiar and keeps butting into private conversations. The Management should really speak to her and ask her to keep it more professional as this is very off-putting. My friends and I were enjoying a lovely evening but she kept giving opinions on our conversations !! Not good. It would put us off from going there again which is a real shame as this place is truly a gem and well worth a visit.

We wanted somewhere local for a special meal with family visiting from Austalia when I remembered someone (i cant think who) telling me how very impressed they were with Bloomers. In the past I have heard good remarks made about the restaurant but have never before thought to try it out. What a suprise we had. Everything was excellent. The menu although limited had something for everyone. The food was all served beautifully. After enjoying wonderful steaks in Australia we found Bloomers Fillet and Ribeye steaks just as good. In fact the best we had eaten locally for a long time. The restaurant was quiet but it was just right for the occasion. Even the bill was acceptable for such a high standard of cuisine. I certainly would recommend Bloomers for a special occasion or a romantic meal for two.

we booked to go based on the menu which looked good. The service was brilliant, friendly and unobtrusive. The decor was dated although the conservatory area was nice. The two first drinks g and t and jd and coke cost £9.50 not sure if it was doubles only? the starter i had was ok but the pate didn't go with a sweet brioche. the main was horrendous the lamb was in thin over cooked strips with so much mint you couldn't taste it and the supposed duxcell of mushroom. all swimming in a lake of olive oil. the dauphenouse were nice as was the veg and saute potatoe. the dessert was nice although i would hazard a guess that 3 out of the 4 trio? were shop bought. at the end we got a peach rose and rose champane (although i suspect sparkling wine afoot) all in all the we had a nice evening together people watching the varied clientel. the bill came to £115 ish with a bottle of wine that should have cost around £6 (costing £15) michelen not

Ok, so if you're over the excitement or indeed the choice of Indians and Chinese food in Gravesend and fancy something more British, then look no further than Bloomers. Tucked away, out if sight, this is a gem and somewhat of an oasis. There we were, my Wife and I, sat in a restaurant in London, called 'Petrus' feasting on absolute quality food cooked by Gordon Ramsey himself when my Wife turned to me and said "This is really nice but Bloomers in Gravesend is just as good as this" and she was spot on, not only as good as Mr Ramseys creations but a whole lot cheaper. I first found Bloomers totally by accident, way back in 2001 when a cab driver dropped us off in Bloomers' car park, instead of the nearby Mexican restaurant. I can't thank that cabbie enough for inadvertently delivering me to what I would definitely say is the best restaurant in Kent. If you are looking for some real fine dining in an ambient atmosphere with quality service look no further than Bloomers. I promise you, you will recommend it to your friends and every one of them will do the same.

We use this restaurant about 3 or 4 times a year and have done for probably something over 10 years and every visit is a success. The food is excellent and the service friendly and attentive. The chef seems to produce some of the best sauces we've had anywhere in the world. Our most recent visit on 22nd January was up to the usual high standard. If we have any complaint it is that they don't serve real ale in the bar and that, on this occasion, we did feel a little rushed to move to our table. Having booked a table for 8.30 we were encouraged to sit at 8.00. However, always a pleasure to eat here.
