Just popped in for a cup of tea, having previously stayed at the hotel and wanting somewhere away from the crowds in Piccadilly. My friend and I fancied scones and cake with our pots of tea - all utterly delicious. However, what really made it for us was the amazing service we had. Unfortunately we did not get the lady’s name, we believe she was Italian, but she was incredibly friendly and helpful without being intrusive, and she made us feel so very welcome. Will definitely return when next in the area.

We had afternoon tea yesterday and have to say it was a great experience. We used a virgin red letter day experience gift we had. Greg was very pleasant and professional as were the doorman who gave us a warm welcome Afternoon tea and the glass of fizz was very good , lots of little different extras you don't normally get with the typical afternoon tea experience such as the white chocolate lolly balls to finish :) Recommended visit if in the area

My son and I popped in here for a quick lunch whilst staying at the hotel. We both had the club sandwich which came with fries and was absolutely delicious. The drawing room is very small and intimate but lovely to sit in away from the hustle and bustle from outside. We didn't really have time for pudding, and I mentioned to my son that I wish I had time for something sweet. Our server overheard me and very kindly bought some complimentary shortbread over with our bill, which I thought was a very nice touch.

We booked afternoon tea for two & were treated to s delicious treat. There were 5 finger sandwiches each, followed by light scones, fruit & plain served with chantilly cream and strawberry jam - was a pleasant change from clotted cream. The cakes were my favourite if any cream tea & the chocolate with passion fruit was divine, the macaroon with basil & lemon was really excellent. The waiter Courtney looked after us very well, was attentive without being intrusive, certainly took care over over the service. Courtney explained the afternoon tea, the cakes and sandwich flavours. The tables are close together but the waiting staff seem to spread people out and it was a lovely atmosphere, we weren’t rushed. A quality afternoon tea over quantity, which was a delightful experience.

Ok now you have had quite a few poor reviews for your afternoon tea let me make it very clear where you are going wrong after our experience. 1. Tea should be as much as you can drink ie unlimited refills. To be told you can only have one refill is ridiculous considering the price you are charging and the fact that the tea is a cheap ingredient. 2. A cream tea is not a cream tea without clotted cream!! The paltry amount of whipped cream provided barely covers one half of a scone. We had to ask for extra twice - crazy! 3. Scones are the key part of an afternoon tea and should be freshly baked and not dry. 4. Sandwiches should include a beef filling and more sandwiches should be offered free if all are eaten (standard in any decent afternoon tea). 5. Cakes should include a chocolate one which this offering didn't. The one that looked like chocolate was in fact a fruit cake (and nasty) and nobody likes coconut cake so why include it! 5. You should never go away hungry after afternoon tea. My son did as there was not enough food for him. That was sad as he had spent a lot of his money on taking me out for the tea for my birthday. Shame.

Have written to hotel to complain but had no answer! Booked afternoon tea..on journey had a phone call to say "our afternoon tea will be in bar area" on arrival shown to bar seating...no other afternoon teas being served in bar area...very busy and had to suffer drunken foul mouthed louts as well...perhaps we were shown to that area because we were using a gift voucher...wouldn't recommend, food average, service quite good.value for money poor!

Having eaten afternoon tea in two other London establishments I can honestly say that this was extremely poor for £77. The doorman was polite but then, upon entering the establishment nobody took our coats or purchases. You are offered to dispense with such things in most pubs that serve evening meals let alone a hotel that is supposed to be a five star. Then having chosen our tea we were reminded that only 1 refill was allowed! Tea arrived and then we had drunk 2 cups and any tea remaining was now cold before the food arrived. The bread on one sandwich was hard - I sent it back. They graciously provided 4 more finger slices . By the way the Connaught asks you would you like any more - not in this establishment. Then the scones . One was hard, quite solid infact . Not sure what Bake Off would have made of this. If I had made these I certainly would not have served them to my guests. A paultry amount of cream and jam with no spoons - I had to use the teaspoon from my cup and saucer! We were asked did we want any more jam just as we were finishing the scones - a bit late The meringue was reasonable. However the coconut based cake was too sweet and so called chocolate one really inedible. The small dessert - well we had to eat this with either a large dessert spoon or the teaspoon on our saucer. Oh and I think it was in a plastic container. Staff were chatting at the bar. The music did not seen appropriate for an afternoon tea and the place was a thoroughfare for various guests and or employees. We paid the bill £ 77 and then left . Nobody was there- no employee . They had now all disappeared. No good afternoon and " did you enjoy your afternoon tea ? " Quite frankly there was no atmosphere and the staff and management need lessons in how to serve tea to guests . Never again . Don't go here . What a complete waste of money. I have eaten in several top Michelin starred establishments but quite frankly the quality of service and food was lower than a transport cafe where usually the food is fresh and you do not have to send it back . We shall not be coming back !

My husband and I booked afternoon tea. We were the only ones there at the time. The staff was friendly and polite. She explained that we would receive 2 pots of tea, we could choose our first pot and if we liked it ask for a refill or switch to another type of tea. I'm not a huge fan of tea but it was good. The place settings were cute. We also received a glass of Champagne. There were 5 sandwiches, 3 of them were great, the other two were ok, just not my favorite ingredients. The crumpets and jelly were delicious and the deserts were abundant! We thought it would be a light meal and might have to eat afterwards but it was plenty of food to fill us up and so many deserts we didn't finish them all! This was our only tea experience so far but we enjoyed it!

I booked this afternoon tea for my daughter and I and when we arrived we were the only guests there. The sandwiches were okay but the bread was very dry and had obviously been left out for some time. On top of that there was just not enough of them so we asked for some more and was told that we would be charged for the additional few sandwiches (£9). I have been to many 5* venues for afternoon tea and have never been charged for replenishments. What was most annoying was that just to the side of our table was the door where the housekeeping staff were taking the dirty laundry and rubbish bags!! Not exactly what you want to be watching during what should be a relaxing afternoon. Would I go again - No!!

Had afternoon tea here today (for the second time in a year). We requested more tea (after having 2 small pots already) however were asked to pay for it. I have had hundreds of afternoon teas and never been asked to pay for more tea! The staff were also openly unprofessional when dealing with other customers this afternoon, giggling behind the desk and whispering. Such a shame as our first experience here was close to perfect and we love the hotel. We will head elsewhere next time.

we visited for my birthday yesterday. Their current peter rabbit themed tea is advertised in several magazines. What a disappointment. The service was slow and the staff didnt appear to know what the theme was or the ingredients which relate to the theme. We left and only had water and a pot of tea for £23. The sandwiches looked dry and small portions. The only relevance to the theme was carrot ontop.of the cake?! £48 per person for this.. see image. Ruined my birthday and the customer service was horrendous. They didnt understand why we were upset . I have been to the sanderson and other themed teas which are far superior to this! avoid. On the plus side hotel haa been recently renovated. The room was small but quaint with a real fire and clean table and linen.

The Was here only for afternoon tea at the Drawing Room, did not stay here as a hotel guest. This is one of the few places still open during Christmas that offers tea. Service is a bit slow as the staff would constantly go to the lobby or go into the kitchen, also they had some shift changes while we were about to order. Their credit card machine was down and we had to go to the lobby for the bill.

The Drawing Room at Flemings Mayfair Hotel is a lovely place to have a relaxing and elegant afternoon tea with friends and family. Although the sandwich menu had some traditional favorites, the chef also included some interesting and tasty twists to tea sandwiches. Unlike many herbal teas that can sometimes taste too earthy or too flowery, our herbal tea was a smooth tropical fruity blend with a nice punch of flavor. We received exceptional service. The Flemings Mayfair came as a bit of a surprise to us. My friend has lived in London on and off for decades. She originally wanted to bring me to one of the traditional tourist restaurants for tea. However, she changed her mind and chose the Drawing Room at Flemings Mayfair because she liked the setting when she looked online. When I walked into the Drawing Room, I immediately agreed with her decision and knew that this was a better fit for me. The Drawing Room is smaller so it feels comfortable and intimate. We did not feel like we were in a room surrounded by people. Instead, the cozy, but still well lit, room felt like the perfect place to sit back, relax, and connect. It is easy to rate a restaurant highly when everything goes right. I think that a true test of taste and service begins when something goes wrong. When we arrived for our tea at the Drawing Room, we immediately noticed that all of the tables were occupied. We approached the hostess and told her that we had a reservation for afternoon tea. She checked her list and could not locate our names. My friend showed her our online reservation and receipt. The hostess immediately apologized and said that there must have been a problem with the system. Unfortunately, since the tables were occupied, she asked us if we would not mind sitting at the bar for a few moments. We agreed. The next thing we knew, she brought us two lovely glasses of champagne to apologize for the error. The hostess then said that she would be happy to be our server to give us more specialized attention. She went over the menu with us so that we would not have to wait to order until our table opened up. It was actually really nice going over everything at the bar. We were closer to her eye level. It almost felt like we were in on a secret when she leaned over and quietly discussed the different items on the menu. I told her that I was a vegetarian. I also told her that I don’t like caffeinated teas and only drink herbal ones. However, I wanted something different – not the usual mint or chamomile tea. These restrictions did not faze her. (In this day and age, these requests should not faze anyone, but I am often surprised by how so many servers get annoyed.) She asked the chef to make a few sandwiches that were not on the usual menu. My friend eats meat so she made sure to note that the vegetarian sandwiches should be placed separately from the meat sandwiches. (This is something that I normally have to request and even then many restaurants still don’t get it right.) As for the herbal tea, she said that she had a new tropical tea in the back and it was not on the menu yet. She brought out some of the dry tea for us to smell. Incredible!Soon, our table in front of the fireplace was ready. On a rainy, chilly day, a seat in front of the fire with a pot of tea felt like heaven. Because we ordered earlier, we did not wait long for our tea and food to arrive. Before we took our first sip, the aroma of the tropical fruit tea was intoxicating. It was both delicate and full-bodied without the cloying sweetness or overpowering acidity of some tropical teas. Within minutes the hustle and bustle of London melted away. When our three-tiered server arrived at the table, we smiled and almost giggled. It was exactly what we wanted. (Normally, I do not take pictures of my food, but I did so on this day because we were both enjoying the experience so much.) We nibbled on our yummy sandwiches and caught up on life – as old girlfriends do. Before removing our plates, the server asked us if we wanted more sandwiches. We did not. Instead, we shifted our focus to our delicious scones with jam and clotted cream. Mmmm. Then, it was time to try the colorful array of chocolate treats. We were quite full after the sandwiches and scones so we lingered – to allow our tummies to digest and make some room. The staff did not rush us. Finally, it was time to eat those chocolate treats! Delicious! It just doesn’t get better than ending on a chocolate note. We left our afternoon tea with replenished souls and very full tummies. It was truly a delight. The Flemings Mayfair Hotel provided us with a personalized, cozy, tasty, and elegant afternoon tea experience.

This was a ladies family afternoon tea (with mother, aunt, sister & sister in law). We had booked in advance - following no response to my email query, I called up to speak to someone. The dining room was very quiet (there were no other guests there on arrival). The service was OK, I would not say excellent. One of the waitresses had clearly gone outside on a cigarette break & then come back with cigarette-smoky breath, this wasn't very pleasant. We had ordered additional sandwiches but were not told that we were being charged an additional £5.50 per person for the additional sandwiches - we were shocked when we received the bill. I have been to lots of other places in London for afternoon tea & have never been charged for additional sandwiches. We were there for a family hen do so did not want to cause a scene so we never brought this to the attention of the hotel. But I hope that the hotel read this review & make amendments for future visitors. The scones were very nice however the desserts & the sandwiches were OK. Although the setting was nice & the hotel was nice, I wouldn't rush to come back here.

Cant comment on the hotel side of things, but judging by the building work and noise going on it is probably being refurbished. Booked afternoon tea for a small group. Could not hear each other talk because of the noise and they should not be taking afternoon tea bookings until the work is over. Quality of the food and service was poor and there are many other establishments that offer a true Mayfair hotel experience. We will not be returning.

I took my family for afternoon tea at Flemings Mayfair for their Christmas present. It's become a family tradition that we do every year. Unfortunately Flemings did not provide a great experience and we all left feeling rather disappointed. The day started off ok, however the service wasn't great and the food was only ok. However when we asked for some more sandwiches we were greeted by being told it would cost a further £5 for one more sandwich in one flavour... We've never been charged more, and have always just been offered more sandwiches where ever we've been. At the end of the session when we went to leave we they'd lost my brothers jacket as when we arrived they didn't take them all at once. This became a huge palaver and my dad and my brother ended up going into the cloakroom themselves to retrieve it.At a charge of £34.50 per person, I was expecting much more. I'd therefore recommend paying slightly more and going elsewhere, where you'll get a much better experience!

We were given a voucher for afternoon tea for our wedding and chose to come to Flemings out of the list provided. I wish we had chosen somewhere else to be honest, I've been fortunate to have been to many of the London hotels for afternoon tea (hence the voucher) but this was one was not up to the same standard at all.The staff were lovely, the ambience and the decor in The Drawing Room were nice although I don't know why the tables for 2 have to be so small (even the waiters struggled to fit everything on). My main issue was the tea itself. First of all you get a small pot of tea (which the staff 'helpfully' poured for me whilst it was still water - tea does need time to brew) - one small pot was it - not once did they offer us more tea. Then the food came, what was there was nice - BUT where was it all!? You got 4 small finger sandwiches each - in every other hotel I've been to they've offered you more sandwiches - not here, they even took the plate away when we finished - not a murmur of more sandwiches. The scones were really nice. The cakes were pretty mediocre to be honest, even more so as I had run out of tea.I am used to leaving afternoon tea rather full but this left me unsatisfied and just disappointed as it had been a wedding present and we had gone to London specifically for this occasion (we were in and out within 45 minutes).I would not recommend Flemings, there are much better alternatives out there for the same price.

Cannot thank them enough for making this such a lovely day for me. Despite U.S. Using vouchers and getting a big discount, we did not feel like we were treated any differently from the other guests. Though their 'special' cocktails are gone (and have been for a couple of years now), the bar has finally recouped some of the pizzazz it lost after covid, with a great selection of drinks and some delectable food. Though I will note that the proms happen every year in summer, just around the corner, on most nights. I'm aware of that, so it seems odd that the bar is so apparently unprepared for the influx of patrons following a performance...

Excellent welcome, the servers are really welcoming, kind, smiling and patient despite the language barrier. The dishes are very good, very well cooked and very tasty. The meat is excellent, it is so tender that it melts in your mouth. And even the meat on the children's menu is of very good quality! This restaurant is worth coming to eat there, come with your eyes closed.
