Our American visitors were keen to visit a quaint English pub. I wouldn't class the Lamb as quaint - it's better than that. It's quirky. The decor is crazy, the beer is excellent, and they thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

Came here on Friday night with two older mates. Unusual venue....not in a bad way. Hard to put into words....it feel partly hippyish, grungey, retrospective. Very small inside. In fact, the outside feels like a larger area. The owners have done well to set up a covered, segmented, seating area outside.... Ordering is via an App only - you can decide whether that’s good/sensible or a bit irritating...or both. Atmosphere inside was very decent and chilled.

Where to start? This legendary hostelry is known around the world as the most eclectic, friendly and community minded tavern in the known universe. A small but carefully husbanded selection of ales nudges elbows with some of your mass market favourites. Good selection of spirits including a non-alcoholic gin if that's your thing. Great bands here play all the time from quiet, thoughtful modern folk to foot stomping crowd pleasers. The atmosphere for the favourites is, shall we say, intimate. In addition to all this, The Lamb is the heartbeat of community events, pumping love through the streets and parks of this leafy commuterville. Urban downhill skiing anyone? If you're in need of food then it's mostly limited to cheese, though there is a particularly fine selection on offer. Besides, didn't someone once say that a person with beer and cheese is a king/queen/royalty of self-specified preference indeed?

Ignore the slightly shabby frontage and the rusty camper van outside because this is an honest, unpretentious, no-nonsense boozer with quirky dated decor, friendly people and a lovely large outdoor area to the rear with a slightly hippy vibe. Old sofas under gazebos. All a bit shabby and not caring one jot about chic; a fascinating feast for the eyes. Sensible prices, decent beer and unique surroundings that ooze charm. I suspect they often have music there quite often too.

The Lamb is an antidote to the gentrification and branding of most other pubs in the area so I do see the appeal...but then I visit and I remember this place sadly isn’t for me most of the time. It’s cramped bordering on claustrophobic, it looks like a hoarder’s living room, the selection of cheeses looks better than the selection of pints. The place makes more sense to me in the summer when you can escape into the beer garden and stretch out a bit. Still, there’s a genuine community feel to The Lamb and I’m glad it’s always there as a (very different) option.

Great prices.Staff are lovely and a proper community feel about the pub (the owners organise a lot of local events!)It's really quirky as well...first impression was "what a dive" but I couldn't be more wrong - it's cool and just has a nice vibe and you just have to give the place a chance. My only criticism (that I emailed owners directly on) is that their beer options are terrible. A free house should be smashing it and churning out some incredible beers but sadly they are very very limited in a decent option (in my opinion). Again a testament to the place is how respective of my feedback they were (even asked what beers I like etc)Fix this and I'm here all the time and it will be my go to pub for good.Till then it's The Antelope for me and a cheeky on the way home in The Lamb

I have popped in this place and known it for years. It is a very good pub in Surbiton. It is popular with well behaved students and folk from every corner of the local area. The beer selection is good (although Ranmore? Really? Do they pay you to serve it?) and the place as a whole is pretty comfortable and popular with a good crowd. It has a large outdoor area, needs a clean up but marquees and large tent things put up with sofas inside for seating. Quirky has been used before but this place is a gem.

This is a great family owned and family orientated local pub. It is not a sanitized soulless chain pub with awful music so loud you can't talk- if you want that, there is an all bar one in Kingston. The walls and garden are decorated with paraphernalia from various charity and fun raising events, whether it be the life size hungry hippos, life size mouse trap or funky stuff from a steam punk evening. If conversation is slow there are various games to borrow.Sorry, should really tell you about the beer and food! The beer is second to non, I've never had a bad pint in here in all the times I've visited, equally the cheese board and pop up chefs in the garden always manage to serve genius food.

The pub area is a mess, the back garden is appalling with ash flowing out the ashtrays, mismatched furniture and rubbish everywhere. I've only been here twice but both times a couple of children and a woman stared up at me when I walked in as if I was burglar. (They were the only people in there.) The beer seems OK, but I couldn't really enjoy it as I'm worried they take as little care about the taps as they do the pub.I'm giving it 2 stars rather than one as I admire the fact they patently don't even pretend to care and it has a certain 'take us or leave us' charm, but I wouldn't waste your money.

We pop into the Lamb occasionally, a quirky pub which seems to have a cult following and good selection of beers, but most importantly, in a setting which hasn't been generically modified as most pubs have now-days. Seating areas around the horseshoe bar, and rear garden, it can get busy but service is normally quick and their beers are kept well. Friendly staff willing to have a chant and normally someone half-cut at the bar to keep you entertained. Good music in the background.Rated 5/5 as these unique pubs show the character of an area and should be supported.

Myself and my boyfriend have visited the lamb a few times now after being told it would be right up our street. being cheese lovers we ordered a cheese board and were served stale bread and dirty side plates. So since then we've stuck to eating elsewhere and coming in for drinks. We've worked out if you sit too close to the men's toilets you can smell them at your table which is pretty off putting and I myself can say the ladies is not much better. The garden is a good size but looks more like a messy unused back yard than a pub garden and the blankets provide would be a cute touch but they're dirty and smelly too. Overall hygiene in the place is very poor which I feel lets it down hugely. my boyfriend enjoys the beers there and drinks are reasonably priced but increasingly we find ourselves walking further and paying more to go to other places in the area because from our few visits so far we know the place isn't very clean and the standard of service is often hit and miss. Love the unusualness of the place and they seem to host quite a few events but if they just bothered to tidy up a bit and keep the place clean I'd feel much more comfortable there. FRiends of ours in surbiton love the place and have told us the landlords are very relaxed but from what we've seen its just a polite way of saying they are lazy as we have witnessed a very unrelaxed landlady shouting rudely at us and other customers regarding noise in the garden on a Friday night.

Gem of a small pub in a desert of an area for good real ale and good pubs! Genuine free house with four hand-pumps serving Surrey Hills Ranmore, Dark Star, Hophead & Robinsons - we stuck on the Ranmore especially as it was a new barrel! Fabulous cheese selection in a special cool cabinet for storing cheeses - choice of three cheeses with bread and pickles is good value at £7.50 per platter bearing in mind the perfect quality of the cheeses - the best accompaniment to real ale! Rear garden partly covered by a couple of marquees with sofas. Enthusiastic welcoming owner with friendly staff. Free parking after 4:00 pm in surrounding streets leading to river. The Lamb not only offers excellent ales and a stunning cheese counter, it is the creative hub of the local community. There is often as not some hare-brained dress-up party or niche sports activity in the offing (examples include 'Now is the Winter of our Disco Tent' and urban skiing). Family friendly and a safe place for singles to drink without getting harassed. Pop up dining is now a feature in the back garden, local chefs have been turning out burritos, tacos, Vietnamese baguettes, gourmet hotdogs, burgers and other home made dishes at weekends. BoomTing Burgers grill here every Friday evening in the beer garden. I consider myself a bit of a burger connoisseur and wasn’t disappointed by either of the burgers I tried. There was the fresh soft steamed bun holding together oozy cheese and sharp pickles, but above all the patty – seared to juicy perfection and with a seriously deep, long in the mouth beef flavour. I’ve been to the Meatliquors, Shakeshacks, Honest Burgers, Dirty Burgers of this world and can safely say BoomTing is up there with the best of them. Maybe I could have done without the addition of mayo as the beef was rich enough on its own, and personally I prefer my pickles on top of the meat so that the bottom bun stays bare and sucks up any beef juices, but these are minor quibbles. All in all it’s a damn fine burger and I can’t wait to go back and try their Green Chilli Cheeseburger.

The cheese plates are lovely, they also have a good range of ale and wine, and the staff are helpful. The managers are a bit bonkers but that's part of the fun, they would have to be with some of the activities they set up. Lamb Surbiton, brilliant. My only quibble, and it's a small one, is if they could put a kitchen in they would be able to do more than just cheese plates. Have visited about a dozen times in the last year, and love the pub. The cheese board is out of this world, with some really great unique cheeses to choose from. This pub changed my opinion of children in pubs completely. Saturday daytime expect to see lot's of children, but they are busy making crafts and playing games together while the parents catch up. I almost want to have kids just so I can take them to The Lamb!Beer wise, Surrey Hills Ranmore seems to be on permanently and has buckets of flavour for a weaker beer. Two guest ales have changed ever visit and are interesting and well selected(don't expect Doombar, and other bland guest beers)The service is fantastic, and it's clear that the family that run the pub play a MASSIVE part in the local community. We had one bad visit when we popped in for a quiet pint one Sunday evening, and a large group of people who seemed to have finished a shift at a nearby bar were acting so drunk and rowdy that we had to leave. We are fully confident that this was a one off.Stop reading reviews and go try a lovely pint!

The Lamb is a small pub that sells several kinds of good local beers and specialises in British regional cheeses. It is also the centre of many local activities such as sports days and charitable events and as such attracts a mixed crowd, far from the stereotype of 'real ale pub' though it is deservedly popular with real ale fans as well. It is the kind of pub that should be visited and made use of as much as possible. In my view it is the best pub in Surbiton for its mix of good beer, atmosphere, and its contribution to the community.
