Been to Peppe a few times before - normally good fresh food at a reasonable price in a homely restaurant. Not sure what has happened lately - hardly anyone there which is possibly a weekday evening thing, but the prices have gone up and the portions are really quite small with not too much in the pasta except pasta and sauce; the seafood spaghetti was particularly disappointing for £25. I know prices have gone up since COVID but pasta should be an affordable dish. We had several different pastas and all were similarly disappointing. Putting lots of new lighting outside the restaurant - maybe trying to get the investment back?

I hadn’t been to Peppes for a couple of years ( it used to be a local favourite) so came with two friends tonight. We ordered a sharing starter which sounded lovely- it turned up as a plate of over deep fat fried triangles and blobs on a plate- we tried anyway- I literally picked one piece up and tried to break it on the plate. It was a solid rock- completely tasteless and inedible dish. We complained and the lady literally said nothing ( I even banged the lump on the plate to show her) took the plate away. No apology, no asking us if we’d like something else etc. We eventually got our main courses which were lovely apart from one pizza which was described as containing aubergine as a main ingredient. There were literally 7 tiny fragments of it. We ordered another bottle of prossecco- 10 minutes later a man arrived with a rose and asked us if this was Prosecco! I’m so sorry but I’ve always loved this place but I feel it’s really gone down in the past couple of years so will not be returning. To add insult to injury, they over charged us by adding a glass of wine we hadn’t even had :(

I had a wonderful birthday meal with my family, aged 8 to 84. Everyone loved the dishes they chose, from shared starters to delicious desserts. My spaghetti with seafood and chilli was amazing. Our waitress was super helpful and patient with our picky 10 year old, making sure he was happy with his pizza. We’ll be back!

The most uncomfortable meal I have ever had to endure. Despite no rain etc, we were made to sit inside. The restaurant had no air con or any fans and it was sweltering. This made the meal rather uncomfortable and unenjoyable.Both my children were sweating and it was also uncomfortable for them. This was a shame as the food was very nice, but we couldn’t enjoy it as it was so hot inside

Authentic Italian food, fresh cooked, freshly caught. All reasonably priced, although service with a bit rushed and didn't give you time to think! We have no complaints about the food and while the lobster did appear to come from the 'fish bath' despite it being a Special. It still tasted fresh and delicious. Our King prawn dishes of a very reasonable size with risotto and laguine. The sharing starters set everything off very nicely. So the complaint really is that we felt hastled for our order, plates were cleared away quickly when we had only just finished. No time to dip our bread in the delicious sauce. A missed opportunity!

I love going to Peppe's restaurant. There is always something new to try and this time was a new pizza in the specials. You ve got to try it, the pasta, the ingredients, the toppings, everyghing was so so good. I could not resist having mozzarella in carrozza. It was super good and it reminded me of my childwood..... The service was exvellent and the atmosphere warm as ever. We even got to meet a friend from Ham and end up having dinner together! Thank you Peppe, I look forward to coming back for the marvellous fish next time.

We had such a lovely afternoon in the beautiful garden to celebrate a Baby Shower. The food was absolutely delicious and more than enough for everyone to enjoy!! Peppe and his team went above and beyond to make sure everyone had an enjoyable experience!

Each dish was prepared exceptionally. The staff were amazing on top everything. We can’t wait to go back. The food was as good as anything we ever ate in Sicily. It was actually better. Went on Sunday lunch , no reason, not over that way often, been once before and thought we would go again. Much quieter than expected but that suited us. Food was fab, staff were lovely. Bread basket was very generous. We had a very relaxing enjoaybe lunch , thank you Peppe

Visited for a pizza as we were celebrating. Very disappointed in the large pizza as it was very doughy and the cheese hadn’t melted properly. Soggy too. The desserts were good. Service fair as we must have been served by 5 different people.

We recently held a family party for 45 people outside at Peppe's. Peppe and his team were incredibly supportive, helpful and patient as we planned this party. On the day the staff were hugely attentive, the food was delicious and plentiful and the atmosphere relaxed and happy. We were delighted with our experience and very grateful to everyone at Peppe's.

Food for all, with some great Traditional Sicilian dishes, pizza and more. The food is expertly prepared and served by friendly staff in a relaxed atmosphere. A real hidden gem.

I hate to complain but feel I need to leave an honest review. Went here with friends for my wife's birthday. We booked one of the garden pods, which we paid £45 extra for (in hindsight this really didnt seem worth it). There was a big party in front of us and as the night went on it really did feel like we were an after thought for the staff. Got to the pod, told lights weren't working so we went back to the bar for them to sort, fair enough. Went to order drinks, bluntly told by the barman we had to pay at a separate counter then get drinks. No one suggested we could just add drinks to our bill until we asked. Then the Pod was ready before we ordered drinks, so back we went and then ordered drinks. Half the drinks turned up which seemed to take a long time, then a much longer wait for the remaining drinks (3 beers). Food was ok, nothing amazing, One of the mains was wrong, they did change it (and to be fair apologise) but it meant one person had to wait while all the other mains arrived. Would have been appreciated if the bill reflected this error! We waited a long time between courses, which if the food is good I don't mind waiting. Staff didn't seem that friendly, a smile wouldnt hurt. Topped off by the abrupt barman serving me my dessert as if it was a big inconvenience for him! For 6 people we paid about £337 (only I had a dessert), which for really good food (and service) is fair enough, but... food was pretty standard, staff not particularly friendly, not even when we paid! Would I go back, definitely not and I begrudged paying the service charge.

We can’t be more grateful for this amazing restaurant ,to celebrate any occasion you will be accommodated and they will do anything to make your event special. We had lots of parties here and always more than happy. The latest one was for the 40th Birthday . Thank you to Peppe and all staff .

Peppe’s Restaurant is the place to visit when you love seafood and Italian food. Had a great Insalata di Mare for stater and a fabulous Risotto Onda di Mare for main. The best and very generous Risotto I ever have had.

I am left feeling very disappointed by my experience here. The food is so overpriced. Firstly the bruschetta seemed like it was made about 4 days ago and left in the fridge, it was very cold and mushy put on a piece of warm bread....

We had a party for a few friends under the marquee and everything was perfect! Great food and settings. The marquee was warm and very well decorated, and we had great Italian food.

Me and my family have been to the Cardinal Peppe multiple times before our most recent visit, and every time we have enjoyed our time there. I'm glad to say that this time was no different.As soon as we walked through the door, we were greeted by staff who had ppe on and we were immediately told to take our temperature. We were then seated at our table and could have a look at the menu. The restaurant generally looked quite nice and cosy.The service was quite quick and the waiter always seemed nice. It could have been that the especially quick was because of the fact that less people were there, but in previous visits there has been no problems with the arrival time.When the food arrived, it looked amazing as always. We were sharing a big pizza that was truly massive! It was cooked extremely well and tasted amazing. I would say that it is one of the best pizzas that I have ever had, if not the best!Though I've never had a dessert from the Cardinal Peppe before (because I've always been stuffed from the pizza!!!), they always look lovely and I haven't heard anything bad about them.Altogether, I would highly recommend going to this restaurant. All aspects of it are very good, including the food, the staff, the service and more. I felt like they were doing the best that they could to maintain covid measures and think that they need more people to be visiting them. I feel great helping them out.

Another return visit to this authentic Sicilian restaurant did not disappoint! A great welcome as ever observing social distancing of course, the management have done a very good job in putting measures in place I must say.Over to the food now, I’m never disappointed when I come here and last night was no exception, I had the hot octopus on a layer of pesto mash which was divine. We had a hot tagliera (sharing tray) of beautiful Sicilian delights, arancini caponata cheeses etc. I had fresh tagliatelle with swordfish and aubergines, excellent dish, my wife had king prawn spaghetti and my son a beautiful veal escalope, everything cooked to perfection.Desert, wow! I had an amazing pistachio bombe and some hazelnut ice cream, we had fried ricotta parcels and a special canoli cake as it was my birthday! Thank you for that Chef Peppe!The dishes here are really authentic and for us cooked to perfection. We arrived and were made to wait 10 mins as a waiter walked away on the phone .. having sat down we were not provided menu QRG code ... it took 30 mins for someone to take our drinks order .. 20 mins drinks arrived . food order was also slow .. when the food arrived we had to ask for pepper and Parmesan - 3 times! The food was average but the service was poor and indifferent .. we did not tip and will not be back. Also randomly you eat off a floor tile.

We just had a lovely dinner at Peppe’s tonight. Firstly we were impressed by the safety measurements they put in place to minimise the risk of Covid-19 transmission. It would be great to see this in other restaurants too. The food was delicious, we had fried potato croquettes, pasta alla norma, pizza with frankfurters and chips and cannoli. We really enjoyed everything that we ate, it was fresh and authentic, the portions were generous and good value for the price. We live locally and we will definitely go back and use this restaurant for party catering.

My family and I went there last month and we had a lovely meal, food was great and the atmosphere was very relaxed despite social distancing. Outdoor seating is the best, you feel like your abroad!

Just in case anyone who likes dining out, is still feeling nervous about doing so, I can recommend the following. We are not there now, by the way. We went for a long leisurely lunch on Saturday.This was the first meal we'd had out since lockdown restrictions were eased. We eat out a lot, but have played the cautious card because of Covid-19. There were four of us, Bev, me, Keith and Juliet. I had heard how thorough the safety measures were at Peppes, so felt fine about going. First thing I noticed was plenty of hand sanitiser where it was easy to see. All the staff had visors on, and we were escorted to our table. I haven't been there for over a year, and am not sure if it was my memory playing tricks on me, but to me it looked as if the tables were not as close to each other as they were. That, if I'm right, could be an extra safety measure to keep diners a safe distance apart. There were no paper menus, which I thought was a good idea, and you picked your food from the menu on their website, so no one had to handle anything previously handled by anyone else. Safety wise, I can't fault it. I'll gladly go there again during the pandemic. It felt completely safe.As for the rest, the food was lovely. Too much to eat, so we had doggy bags, and the prices were very reasonable.The company was top notch too. A success all round.

Had the pleasure of coming from North London all the way to Kingston to spend an evening with friends at dinner. Peppe the owner warmly greeted us and along with his fantastic staff proceeded to bring out the most delicious Sicilian food which was some of the best Sicilian food I have had. Service was great and atmosphere great. If you want a great evening with wonderful food go to this restaurant you will not be disappointed. Well done Peppe and team

We visited the restaurant again after the lockdown break and it was like coming back to your family. Food was great as ever, fab pizzas and a nice, improved pasta selection. Specials are interesting and tasty as we remembered. Yes, service is a bit slower but it is because the team is working hard at keeping the social-distancing in place and high-sanitization in all areas. We were looked after exceptionally well and with a smile always on.We will keep supporting this local business, also in consideration of how much the owner has done for the NHS and local community during lockdown.

This is honestly the worst experience at a restaurant we have ever had. We went out as a family for the first time since lockdown and were looking forward to a nice italian.It’s started by taking almost an hour just take out order. The pasta dishes were horrendous. They were tasteless and pasta was overcooked. My pasta dish also came with a massive hair in it which they then said was mine! Even though the hair was clearly a different colour and much longer then mine. They then had then the nerve to charge us for the pasta. The staff got really aggressive and were extremely rude. We were shocked! Can safely say this was a disaster from start to finish and would never return. Stay away!

Having previously visited Cardinal Pepe and enjoyed the food and hospitality immensely I was looking forward to returning with a family party. The service was slow and indifferent and the 7 pasta dishes were a huge disappointment. The 5 spaghetti vongole dishes were bland and tasteless with over cooked pasta and were of such poor quality that 3 of them went back untouched and A fourth was hardly touched. Worse was to follow as a long hair was found intertwined in another seafood pasta dish and to our amazement one of the waiters reaction was to insist that the hair did not originate from the kitchen staff and we felt as though he was insinuating that the hair belonged to one of us - how could this be when it was intertwined amongst the pasta and fish, which another waiter had witnessed.The most frustrating aspect of this was that the staff tried to justify the very poor standard of the pasta dishes provided and proceeded to charge for all of the dishes (even the dishes that were returned untouched) and for service and then became argumentative and aggressive when challenged.Don’ know if we were just unlucky and caught Cardinal Pepe on a bad night but this will be our last night as neither I nor other family members will be returning or recommending this place.

Great set up of distanced tables and screens, staged places for queues, santitizer, appp for ordering plus staff in face guards. Very busy night whereby staff were over run due to unexpected influx but the coped admirably. Friendly environment and great pizza. They deserve the business .

Visited with my family on an odd Wednesday evening but the place was packed.The amazing young Sicilian Head Waiter (or Manager) made sure he will get a table for us even though we haven't booked.Service was very efficient and food very honest and decent portions. Perfect value for money.Being on the operations side of big hospitality venues myself I would say that I am proud and lucky of having Peppe's Restaurant in my area.A big thumb up for their amazing contribution to the community during COVID and for the great way they organised their restaurant taking all measurements. We are already returning customers and proudly supporting a local independent business. Well done Mr.Giuseppe and Team(especially the young Sicilian guy for keeping the identity of passionated Sicilian hospitality-I am Greek myself not a friend of his or the business).

We ordered take away pizza, one margherita and one Siciliana. The dough was dry and not very tasty. The margherita was way over cooked and the Siciliana had aubergines in big, squishy chunks, and it was topped with what was supposed to be Sicilian salty ricotta, but it tasted like cheap cheddar.Bottom line: this is NOT the pizza I expect from a restaurant that claims to be authentic Italian.Save your money, a frozen pizza from any supermarket is going to be a better choice.

Not only was the food as tasty as always, the service from the Peppe team in COVID circumstances was exceptional. They worked hard to provide their normal great service whilst ensuring our safety. We had a really enjoyable evening.

Peppe deserves five stars on all counts. Wonderful authentic Sicilian food served in a family friendly environment with good indoor and outdoor space (open soon, god willing), by the most friendly and community spirited team you could ever wish to meet. A regular takeaway too in these COVID times. A real local gem.

We have been frequenting Peppe’s since it first opened. The food is always of a high standard and delicious. The garden area is really lovely, with a great play area for the kids. Inside has a fantastic atmosphere. But, what really sets Peppe’s apart from other restaurants is the fabulous service. The staff are friendly and helpful, whilst Peppe himself takes the time to talk to the diners and ensure that they are happy with their meal. During the pandemic, Peppe and his team have very generously given their time and profits to serve the community, providing free meals to the disadvantaged and Key workers.I very much look forward to being able to eat in again as soon as restrictions are lifted.

Peppe's pizza this evening. My daughter and I had a nice meal there this evening. Ate outside under one of the tents, very handy in sudden rain. Then got the bill. £27 for a bottle of Pino Grigio? ( for the uninitiated, never much more than £6 in any supermarket. ) when I remonstrated: “ you’ve got to be having a laugh”; was told it was all Covid’s fault!! Im sorry but this is really taking the Mick. It will be 4th July soon. Be warned folks.

The Cardinal Peppe has had to close its doors during this period of lockdown, however thanks to their staff and donations from generous people, the Cardinal Peppe are supporting the NHS by providing pizza and pasta free of charge. Today, the Royal Marsden team at Kingston Hospital ordered pizza which was amazing. Cooked perfectly with plenty of toppings and a great flavour. We can’t thank you enough for a lunch that not only satisfying but uplifted our spirits too. Thank you for your support Cardinal Peppe!

Ordered a vodka and soda. The barman upended a controlled spout spirit bottle for 1 second. Then added soda and ice. NO control on how much but i suspect <10ml When challenged didnt care or apologise. Illegal way of serving spirits in UK

We have eaten at Peppe's on a number of occasions (from romantic evenings, family lunches and group birthday dinners!) and have always had a great experience. It is a very friendly restaurant with warm,attentive service and the food that Peppe and his team provide is absolutely delicious.When looking to hold a large gathering of 40 + people, I contacted the restaurant to see if they could accommodate us and was delighted when they could. In the lead up to the event Peppe was very approachable and helpful in dealing with any questions that I had and the event ran super smoothly. The food was completely delicious, service first class and the whole team worked extremely hard to ensure all my guest had a fun and enjoyable evening. Thank you for being such a fab local restaurant - we're returning again this week for a friends birthday dinner and can't wait!

Stopped off on a Thursday night after me and my wife picked up my Son from school. Didn’t book, but by the time we left, the place was full, so will definitely book next time. Service was very prompt and professional, apart from the fact I ordered a half pint of Moretti Beer and a pint turned up; but being the trooper that I am, I managed to finish it..... life’s sometimes tuff. Wine choice is excellent and after opting for the house recommendation, was not disappointed in the quality or price. We were just going to have Pizza, but the choice of starters and ant-pasti in the well appointed menu, ‘forced us’ to have the pan fried chicken livers to start, which were mouth-wateringly tasty, on fresh mixed leaves, balsamic dressing and with thin and light as a feather pizza bread. The Pizzas we had were obviously prepared and cooked by experts. The dough was tasty all on its own with the very fresh toppings just the right amount with each slice. The 3 sizes of pizza on offer, meant that sharing different types of pizza added to the enjoyment. Will definitely be back and next time opt for a main course proper and not Pizza; not because the Pizza was not good, in fact we hoovered up every last crumb...... but because the dishes being waitered past our table to other dinners, looked and wafted a whole host of glorious smells. It was a two bus journey home, but well worth it. The Cardinal Pepe will definitely become a ‘once a month’ treat.

2 meals plus takeaway pizza in December. As always this place is wonderful. Very lucky to have Peppe’s nearby. Highly recommended for delicious food.

Excellent authentic family run restaurant. There were two big parties of Italian families which is a good sign. Food was excellent and staff very attentive. Veronica was our fabulous waitress. Thank you. Will definitely be returning.

Lovely food, our pizza and pasta was excellent. The wine list is good and reasonably priced. Service was generally very good with friendly. We will definitely be back and look forward to exploring the menu.

The food is originally Italian and mostly really freshly prepared but the restaurant is not enjoyable due to its bad service.

You feel welcome from the moment you step into this restaurant . It was busy Saturday evening but the waiter& chef took time to introduce themself . All the staff is so friendly and the service is great. The food was delicious . Made with love and passion. Will definitely come back .

I cannot rate Peppe’s restaurant highly enough! We are regular diners, our most recent visit being Saturday evening.

We decided to go to Peppes on the off chance of a table. The restaurant was almost empty at 7.30pm on a Tuesday so that was a good start (for us). The staff there were, as usual, great. They were relaxed but always attentive and very warm.

We came for our anniversary having been recommended by an Italian friend. It was slow placing the original order - it was busy - but then the food came out quickly and was delicious. It was also so plentiful I couldn’t finish it and without prompting they offered to pack up the leftovers which I had for lunch the next day. Definitely one to try.

We would just like to say a BIG thank you to you all for the 60th birthday party on Saturday eve. The food was amazing and service was fantastic. Couldn’t have asked for more!! Grazie

This is a hard review to balance, as we experienced some really interesting Italian food at this pub/restaurant but the overall experience was poor as a result of the restaurant’s ambience. It was our first visit and I made the mistake (I now realise) of booking a table for the two of us on at 7pm on an extremely busy Saturday night. On arrival the first thing that greeted us was a huge table of adults, children and babies; they had clearly been there a while and were loud and distracting. Many of the other tables comprised family groups with children. The restaurant isn’t large or spacious and so it felt as if we were eating in a school canteen, with high noise levels and groups of children pushing past our table during the meal as they presumably were heading outside to the play area and then coming back to their tables. I now understand why this place is so popular with local families, as the pizza is delicious and seems reasonably priced for sharing in groups. The food we had was, occasionally above average too, and I can see why some reviewers here score it highly. The pasta was cooked perfectly, and my dish of pasta with red mullet was excellent. The service was good, despite the place being full. The wine was awful though. I had a glass of the house white which was almost undrinkable, and followed up with a glass of Sauvignon which wasn’t much better. Half of me wants to give the place another try, as the glowing reviews on here seem to suggest a place better than the one we experienced, but then I’d need to be assured of a more conducive atmosphere to relaxed dinning and a far better list for wine by the glass. It’s not really all about the food, no matter how authentic it may seem.

We ate here on 5th September to celebrate a birthday. The host greeted us warmly. The food was excellent, only wish we had an Italian Restaurant like this nearer to home in Bromley. Thank you for making this birthday celebration so enjoyable.

There’s nowhere like this. The team is excellent, friendly and welcoming. Food is delicious and they make the best pizza 🍕 Perfect place for families with the kids, you can relax in beautiful garden while kids are enjoying playground.

Sunday lunch time, 3.5yr old and 5.5yr old and my wife. I knew the location as this used to be a "well know" Pub. We had heard tell of real Sicilian food, so why not bring the strongest critic, my Italian wife. This place has a wonderful family feel, the staff are busy but attentive. We receive a Kids menu, a main menu and a specials menu, which feels overwhelming, but 5 minutes chatting with the Waiter about what we like and what he recommends and we have a lovely selection. Kids have pasta and pizza from the menu including salad /greens or fries and juice. Now we can focus on a plate of beautifully fresh calamari, little whole red mullet and zucchini fritti. Then mussels from the main menu and from sea bass from the specials. The food was excellent but what made this day so special was the kids running off into the back garden to find a playground and lots of other children to platy with, all set in a very safe environment. The Forno for the Pizza and the authentic pizza base is superb. We will be back very soon but we will also use this as our go to Take Away for pizza at home !!

We popped in on a very busy Monday evening for a cheeky pizza, absolutely delicious as usual. They have a pizza and a beer offer on Mondays but we don't really need an excuse to eat at Pepe restaurant. Lovely atmosphere, you could be in Sicily, fabulous staff, fancy cocktails or a glass of amazing Sicilian wine (I know the vineyard ) always fantastic. We can't wait to come back. We love you Pepe.

Amazing fresh food! I had a Margarita Pizza which was charred perfectly! Beautifully sweat tomato sauce with delicious bitter base! Really reminded me of being in Italy again.

My friend and I popped into this restaurant/pub for food tonight. We had an issue with our starter. We ordered Calamari. Calamari was nice but the garnish of salad was brown around the edges wilted and wet. Obviously not fresh. It wasn’t pleasant to look at and you certainly wouldn’t want to eat it! We brought it to the attention of the waitress but she wasn’t bothered and no one came back to address it. We couldn’t get anyone’s attention so ate the calamari which was getting cold and left the so called garnish.

Lovely location in Kingston upon Thames, beautiful garden and also a separate kids playground area. Food and pizza very good, you also can found some amazing fresh fish or vegetables coming straight from Sicily. Peppe and all the staff very friendly and professional. Amazing Umberto who makes always a new delicious cocktail for his customers ( and me ). This is the right place to spend a fantastic family’s or friend’s or couple’s day out. Cardinal Pepe is a local kingston pub that is more restaurant than pub. Apart from staff arguing about sausage on pizza it’s £5 for s pint of London Pride, yes £5 that’s FIVE POUNDS.. outrageous The food is very good to be fair.

Thank you Umberto, Peppe and team for my son’s family and friends special celebration! We had an amazing time, food was excellent, service was fantastic and great atmosphere. Also the pre-arrangements went to perfection. Anyone looking for a family friendly venue to do any celebration should definitely come to Cardinal Peppe. You cannot go wrong with the food and how accommodating the restaurant team is. Umberto made sure the day was a memorable one for all! Would definitely recommend and would definitely come again!

Nice pub turned into italian resturant / pizza pub very busy most of the time so book a table if you want to sit down and eat , large childern freindly gardens at the rear
