I've never been served such a tiny portion of food in my life. I ordered a main of liver, bacon and mash and It took me 3 whole minutes to eat it and paid fifteen pounds for the privilege. I'l have had starters in other places that filled me up more. The pub itself was lovely but I won't be eating there again. Left feeling completely robbed and still hungry.

Dreadful booking system that allows you to make an "unconfirmed" reservation with no subsequent follow-up. Imagine thinking you had booked a mother's day lunch only to be turned away on arrival.... that was my experience on Sunday. Several other people turned up having the same problem as me, so it's clearly a major failiure of process. Awful experience.

Disappointed. We made a prior booking enquiry for Mother’s Day, but due to an issue with their systems they failed to revert back (as other Youngs venues do) to inform us that no reservation could be made. We only discovered this from the very unapologetic lady at the front desk upon arrival. Really not a good way to treat customers - they had over three days to respond to the enquiry - even if they took three minutes out to call. They knew the systems weren’t informing customers automatically.

Comfortable pub setting with table in the bar rather than, pre-refurbishment, in the dining area. Vg food -calves liver and ex-dairy cow burger which, for me, was a first. Rich, nicely fatty, a bit like a wagyu burger but without wagyu-cost. Very friendly and accommodating server. Two observations - only my opinion, of course. 1. The server knew nothing about the dishes we asked about on the menu. ‘Is the burger really dairy cow?’ ‘I think that just means beef’. But she asked and the kitchen confirmed it was ex-dairy. ‘Can it be cooked medium?’ ‘I think it’s usually a bit pink’. But she asked but it couldn’t be ‘less than 73C’. not her fault - she was great. It’s the job of the restaurant to inform staff about the dishes they’re serving. 2. Very very drunk people - firm’s outing? Wake? Dangerously, staggeringly drunk. Not rude. Just a danger to themselves!

The Albert Pub is wonderful. The staff are incredibly friendly, and the food is always delicious. While it may not be the cheapest night out, it’s definitely one not to be missed! My daughter absolutely loves their chips and Sunday roast, and what makes it even more special is how warmly she is welcomed by everyone. All the staff are extremely polite, cheerful, have a friendly manner and provide an excellent service. In fact, she knows these fabulous people on a first name basis. Kerran, Adam, Rosie, Keiran, Ben, Ash, Katie, Ben, Ashlii, Ken, Jack, Carlos & Miles have been nothing but nice to her! It must be difficult to make a pub less cosy and inviting after a refurbishment costing over £2 million but Young’s have managed it. The layout has improved and the terrace will be popular in the summer but in winter not much about the Albert is warm. Some of the staff are lovely but a couple give the impression that they would rather not be there and that you’re a bit of an inconvenience. The wood burner that should be the biggest attraction in the lounge area is rarely lit and when it is it fails to burn properly. Seems the brewery forgot to fix that while they had the chance. Guinness has been average to poor, and charging over £7.00 for a pint of so-called “premium” lager is outrageous. That’s not inflation, it’s gouging. A pity.

Start off with the postives: The venue was very warm, cozy, and inviting. Beer was good Negatives: The food was very mixed, Steak was generally one of the worst cut I've seen from a restaurant, far too much gristle, not cooked as requested (overcooked) the peppercorn sauce was a cabbage soup with no peppercorn. Best dish was the sausage and mash but at the prices charging expect better quality. Service was pretty mehh!! Although food arrived quickly, unsure if this is a negative or positive.

We went here to celebrate a couple of big birthdays and were sadly incredibly disappointed. Having been here a few times prior to the refurbishment we were excited to see what it was like following all the work. As a party of 6 we were asked to pay a deposit and pre-order our meals which was all fine given the time of year. When we arrived it took some time for anyone to come over and say they had just asked the kitchen to start prepping our meals (we had already been to the bar to get our own drinks). It then took ages for our food to arrive, approx 1 hour, and we were told there had been a miscommunication in the kitchen which is why there was a delay - despite there being barely anyone dining at this point. When we received the food we were shocked. Two of our party had ordered the chicken supreme - we were met with chicken in gravy and chips - something you might find from your ‘greasy cafe’ type of eatery, not a gastropub (see photo!) not a single vegetable in sight and were given our condiments 10 minutes after asking for them. We felt the need to complain, the food we received was not what had been advertised on the menu, and kindly the staff member offered a free pudding. That seemed nice, however the pudding menu was mediocre at best - I have never seen ‘jelly and cream’ offered on an adults dessert menu in a restaurant! We went up to the bar to ask for the receipt and waited a further 20-30 minutes for that to arrive. One of our party managed to sort out a discount given our disappointment but unfortunately the whole experience was really quite negative. We were there 2.5 hours and had 1 course - most of that was waiting to be served or waiting for food. Sadly despite it being a local pub to all of us I don’t think we will be back. It’s a shame so much work has been put into doing up the place but yet the food in particular has massively gone downhill.

Nice new refurbishment. It is a Young's pub after all, so has to look good! Shame that they don't spend the same money on quality of food. Overpriced and poor quality. Chicken supreme (in attached photo) served in a unpleasent pepper sauce and dumped on a bed of cheap French fries. In agreement with another reviewer, my partner was unimpressed with the prawn cocktail starter, especially in regards to size of portion for the price. My own starter of buttermilk chicken was chicken thigh - I expected chicken breast for the price of £9. My partners main of sausage and mash was only lukewarm when served. There was no check-back from staff after food was served. Will not return for food or recommend to others.

I am a Sunday roast reviewer. I am passionate about great tasting food and I love visiting local pubs to try their roast. I am going to be honest. The roast I ordered (chicken) was just average. More specifically, The chicken tasted exactly like those “roast in a bag” chicken from Tescos. Which is not bad, but below what I expect from a pub kitchen charging 19£. Potatoes were the worst though.Tasted microwaved not cooked well inside and not crispy either, Greens were nice, baby carrots ok, Stuffing, again, supermarket like but ok, Yorkshire was ok but tasted and looked like the frozen type. The service was fast and polite, nice ambience. If you’re not too fussed about things tasting freshly made, you are going to be fine, aside of the potatoes the meal was alright and quite filling. This is the place I would come for drinks but not for food necessarily. This roast gets a 6/10. The pub gets a 7.5

Esteemed patrons, allow me to paint a portrait of sheer magnificence, for I speak of none other than The Albert – a bastion of sophistication and conviviality that beckons with the allure of an open fire ablaze in its heart. Step inside, and you are greeted by the embrace of warmth and elegance, the flickering flames casting a gentle glow upon the tapestries adorning the walls. The pub's layout, reminiscent of a stately manor, boasts distinct sections, each offering its own ambience to suit the discerning palate of its clientele. From the snug alcove tucked away by the hearth, where one can indulge in intimate conversations over a glass of fine whisky, to the refined restaurant area with its array of tables and seating options, The Albert caters to every inclination with grace and aplomb. But let us not overlook the pièce de résistance – the beer garden, a verdant oasis of tranquillity where one can bask in the embrace of nature whilst savouring a pint of the finest ale. Here, amidst the verdant foliage and chirping birdsong, one finds a lounge area replete with sumptuous seating, providing the perfect setting for leisurely libations and convivial discourse. And, of course, no recounting of The Albert's splendour would be complete without mention of its staff – a veritable cadre of hospitality wizards, whose warm smiles and impeccable service elevate the experience to celestial heights. Their attentiveness and affability ensure that every visit feels like a reunion with dear friends, leaving one yearning for the next encounter. As a cherished tradition, I bring my family from Holland over to The Albert, eager to impress them with the epitome of British hospitality. And each time, without fail, The Albert surpasses all expectations, leaving my loved ones enamoured by its charm and warmth. Additionally, The Albert welcomes furry friends with open arms, making it a delightful spot for dog lovers. Conveniently located not far from Richmond Park, simply leave the park from Kingston Gate and head straight on at the end of the street to find this oasis of delight. In summation, The Albert stands as a testament to the timeless allure of refined hospitality, where every corner whispers of history and every moment is suffused with the promise of delight. Come, dear friends, and immerse yourselves in its splendour – I assure you, the experience shall linger in your memory like the taste of the finest vintage.

A really nice pub, very relaxing, and recently refurbished to a very good standard. The Sunday roast menu was so confusing I chose something else - less is more! Three mini glass dishes on my fish & chips plate was a bit too much, a normal portion of peas or mushy peas would have been much better. It's a shame there isn't a choice of fries or chips with both fish & chips and burgers too. Extremely disappointed no proper Coca-Cola on tap, bottle it was! Service was great at the start but went downhill to the point where I went to the bar to get the bill. The car park has been extremely poorly designed - surely a better place for cycles than taking up 2-3 car park spaces !!! I hope these things are ironed out before my next visit !!

Wow, love the pub after the refurb! The vegan options are delicious (although the whole menu looks amazing), the interior is traditional and beautiful, and the team are all beaming with enthusiasm, will definitely be visiting more!

We enjoyed a promotional 50% off food for reopening. Most of the food was of very good quality and a reasonable price. Wouldn’t hesitate to go back for a suitable event

Came to see the new renovations and had dinner. They keep a REALLY good pint and delicious menu. I had the buttermilk chicken as a main. It’s really big! And amazing taste.

Very mean with food portions emaciated plaice with 5 small new potatoes £17.50 and had to pay an extra £6 for brocoli. Come on we're not all mugs for prices haven't gone up that much for a few extra spuds! Left hungry.

A lovely dining place with sympathetic staff and great food. We often come back to dine here because it is quick and easy. While the menu (if a bit expensive) has some good classics there are also kids meals options. This restaurants is great for a quick lunch or a nice evening with friends/ family.

Get out there, this pub has something for everyone, including the 4 legged friends. Situated on the edge of Kingston, I can not recommend the food more highly especially the cicken schnitzel. The staff are great fun, engaging and exceptionally welcoming.... no need to book just turn up and have fun.... they also have a delicious selection of delicious pale rose wines ... a little known pub with ample to offer anyone who wants a great venue for lunch or dinner.

Lovely, spacious pub with great service and great food. Had gone past the pub mainly times and it usually looked quite busy, so decided to stop in for lunch; was very pleased with this decision. Service was very quick and our waitress was very friendly. I had the Albert Beef Burger and can highly recommend. My parents had the Haddock and Chips and Chicken Schnitzel, and also said they were very tasty. Only complaint was about the mushy peas, which tasted bad and looked as if they came out of the freezer, but this wasn’t a bother. We shared a Sticky Toffee Pudding for dessert—the portion size was great (very large if we weren’t sharing), and it was very tasty. Would highly recommend if you live locally!

Paid a few visits here while staying at Kingston hospital and had excellent service every time! They were even kind enough to wrap up food for takeaway one evening. Will definitely be returning!

After finishing a lovely walk around Richmond park we found ourselves at The Albert for a Sunday lunch. The beer garden is great and the food even better. Our waitress Athena was also very helpful with questions about the menu.

We arrived as a party of 10 and were seated very quickly and introduced to our waiter Jake. He quickly took our drinks order. He then took our food order. I really liked the way he checked he had 10 meals on his order and that he double checked he had the correct meals. The meals arrived and unfortunately although the plates were very hot the vegetables on the plates were only Luke warm. Explained to Luke and he quickly took the plates away and brought them back (presume having microwaved them) with a new jug of gravy. Bar for this the Sunday lunches were extremely tasty and good quantities. Well done Jake for coping with a table of 10 that contained kids, elderly and a person with a strawberry allergy. We are not as easy bunch.

We had a lovely time at lunch at Warren House Hotel on Christmas Day. It was all very well organised and the food and service were great. It was nice to have some entertainment, and the gifts brought by Father Christmas at the end were a very nice touch, - especially going to the trouble of putting our names on the labels :-). Having a photo taken and put in a card for us to keep was also a nice thought. Thank you to Surendar for all his help with making our preferred arrangements. We also congratulate the chef for awareness and inclusion of vegetarian cheeses (ie, not made with animal rennet) - it seems so many places these days are focused on vegan cheese that the complexities of vegetarian cheese are being missed. George thoroughly enjoyed his cheese board of veggie cheeses.

I am a regular customer of this place... Sadly, today I've had a bad experience. I was trying to order a beer and I asked this girl (ISABEL) but she ignored me, when I called her she saw me, but she even didn't say hi. No... she was not busy, at the time the bar was not busy, and she was just walking around. I don't know the recruitment process and training, but I think they should focus on the good service also.
