A lot of Very rude male staff. not a kid friendly place to stay. Front desk male staff who assisted checking out had a know-it-all atittude. Big male staff wearing coat in the dining hall was loud, strong and unkind to my kid. Even threatened to put my kid in a dark room. The waiter during the wedding we attended banged the wine bottle on our table for no reason. All female staff were kind and nice. Very POOR Customer service from MALE STAFF. Place was very nice but because of the experience from the staff and big man wearing coat our stay became a nightmare.

Selected venue after searching for gluten-free afternoon teas in Surrey as two of our party of three are coeliac. Although quite pricey, we were not disappointed. The gluten-free scones were superb - I’ve attended ‘gluten-free’ afternoon teas elsewhere where scones were either absent or tasted awful so very happy to have such tasty scones available today. Good selection of sandwiches with more offered if wanted (five fingers each more than adequate for us but I know my husband would have happily accepted the offer if he’d been with us!). The dainty cake/sweet options were beautifully presented and the gluten-free options weren’t in any way inferior to the non-GF options. Generous pots of loose-leaf tea served which stayed surprisingly hot despite the lack of ‘tea cosies’. We sat inside and pleased with our choice as comfortable with subtle background music. Of note, we finished our bubbles outside and whilst very pleasant, we found the wooden seating much less comfortable than the indoor seating and suspect that the gentle late summer breeze would have cooled the tea rapidly. Although no marks deducted, my only criticism is that the staff struggled to provide us with ‘take-away’ boxes for our uneaten food (with small appetites we were unable to finish all offered so wished to take home to be savoured later on). Staff aware this was a problem and duly apologised, doing their best to facilitate wrapping the leftovers. All in all a lovely afternoon and definitely to be recommended if gluten-free catering is a priority.

This was very expensive for a very mediocre experience. The starter a basic pate was nearly £14 The main was a very tough lambs steak £30 The desert was a pre-made item that obviously had fruit put on it just before serving and was a ridiculous £15.57 I have never felt so ripped off at a restaurant before the standard of food was appalling value. If the quality of the food was any good I would not have begrudged the prices. Won’t be going back.

It was pricey at £45 per head (incl. service) but well worth it for a special occasion

Afternoon tea is always an occasion rather than just another meal out (nobody actually *needs* to eat it), and so simply has to be done well or it fails. The Warren House Hotel tea achieves that and more - excellent in all respects, with a wide range of sandwiches and cakes and an interesting selection of teas. Attentive staff completed what was a most enjoyable experience. If you like afternoon tea but don't want to go into the centre of London, this is a very good alternative. Highly recommended.

Nice food, polite staff, but for the very expensive prices the level of service was nowhere near what you would expect. People’s dishes being removed when other diners at the table we’re still eating, wine not opened or poured by the waiter, one of the guests was called “my dear”, the waiter was tapping his pen on his pad whilst waiting for the order, guests not asked what they wanted in the correct order. Ambience wasn’t great, lights too bright, frank Sinatra et al, music too loud. This wouldn’t have been a problem if we hadn’t paid £320 for 5 people to dine there. Not good enough unfortunately.

Lured in by GetSurrey review by Laura Nightingale we pre-booked dairy free afternoon tea for three as a special surprise treat for our Dairy intolerant daughter on successful exam completion and traveled for over an hour to venue! Arrived and confirmed dairy free with reception and were seated at one table by staff member we were then moved to another by a different member of staff who approached the issue with the opening comment of "who told you to sit there?", when we replied we had been seated there the reply was "well that was wrong!". Received standard sandwiches but with dairy removed (i.e. grated carrot & chutney no cheese). The fabulous sweet selection reviewed (soya choc mousse, choc dipped strawberries, dairy free scones, bellini jelly, mixed berries and fruit kebabs) transpired to be 2 jam tarts & 2 bake well tarts each (if these were home made I'm Mary Berry!). When we expressed our discontent the waiter immediately brought the manager who originally tried to tell us this was their standard dairy free offering, however when faced with the review he had to admit our obvious disappointment was understandable (not to forget this was £25 per person). He apologised and offered not to charge us but at such an obvious waste of calories and so vastly disappointed we left and ended up at a very pleasant garden centre.Personally when we booked dairy free it would have been fairer to say they don't cater for it because you can get better at the local supermarket where I'm fairly certain the tarts came from!

This was a memorable occasion not only in terms of the event but the ambiance, high tea and gardens. We were a group of 30 celebrating a retirement and were allocated a room with patio doors leading onto the gardens. Afternoon tea consisted of a selection of delicately prepared finger sandwiches accompanied by delicious pastries, bite size cakes and sweet treats, finished with a side of warm, freshly-made scones and a generous serving of the chef’s delicious homemade jam and clotted cream. This was followed by a wide selection of loose leaf traditional and fruit teas. What made the afternoon was the beautifully maintained gardens which we were able to wonder round at our leisure. Was it expensive, yes but a fabulous afternoon and very much worth it. Highly recommend this venue for a quintessentially English tradition.

As a hotel guest I decided to try out the restaurant on the final night of my stay. I wasn't disappointed. I was a lone diner and was not simply shoved into a corner but offered a table which allowed me to feel part of the restaurant. The chair was very comfy and at a nice height for the table, which was nicely dressed. The atmosphere in the dining room was lovely, the surroundings were those of a wealthy home but not 'stuffy'.The staff were all attentive but not overbearing and they took time to have a conversation. The menu is easy to understand and also you are not overwhelmed by too many choices. 6 starters, 8 mains and 6 desserts give you plenty of things to think about.I was also advised that 'The Dining Room' menu was new, so I'm feeling rather privileged to be reviewing these dishes. I was also presented with 'The Bar' menu so there was no obligation to choose from 'The Dining Room' one.I had a GnT (was offered a choice of Gin) while I perused the menu and ordered a glass of Palena Merlot to go with my food. And a bottle of sparkling water.I opted for a starter of Poached Duck Egg, Asparagus, Artichokes, Pea Shoots - which is exactly what arrived. But it wasn't just that, there was a nice small salad and a lovely dressing which was just acidic enough to cut through the richness of the perfectly poached duck egg.And a main of Hay Baked Breast of Guinea Fowl, Parsnips, Honey and Blackberries - oh yes! this was cooked beautifully and well presented. The Guinea fowl was still nice and moist yet had a crispy skin. The accompanying components were full of flavour and all worked well together with complimenting flavours and texture. The best bit - loads of gravy which had been made using the juices from the meat along with other layers of flavour. I also had ordered a side of Selection of Vegetables - french beans, sugar snap peas and asparagus - all perfectly cooked with a bit of 'bite'.The portion sizes were good and so no room for the tasty looking desserts. The final bill was very reasonable given the setting and quality of the food. I will be dining there again on my next visit.

I was here in the summer and enjoyed my afternoon tea in the garden. Came back again and this time we were given the lovely sofa table by the fireplace. The service, food and drink was excellent. Coming back again... if just for the jam and scones. :-0

Åt en festmåltid här med vänner.Dagen efter serverades frukost som kunde varit lite mer varierad för exempelvis vegetarianer och de som inte äter fläskkött.Annars mycket gott och vällagat!

We went there to celebrate a 60th bday lunch and were sadly very dissapointed in the service. The food was excellent, the venue is stunning, everything was perfect, except the service, which was extremely slow and not flowing. Despite making reservations we still had to wait half an hour to be seated, even though the resteraunt was empty. Drinks were offered after 20mins, and things just got slower and slower. It was a very disapointing experience.

6 friends and I went to Warren House for afternoon tea to celebrate my forthcoming nuptials. The building and grounds are fabulous - the gardens are particularly lovely, and warranted a walk around in the lovely Autumn weather. Afternoon tea was lovely - plenty of sandwiches - and more on offer if you were hungry, and some wonderfully baked scones. The cakes served were exquisite. All in all, a wonderful time was had.

This was the best Hotel we have stayed in. Got a good deal for this fantastic place to stay. The breakfast was one of the best and the room was great. The location was also fantastic and the grounds are just like a Stately Home, we will be going back there for sure if it is available.

My uncle booked for my husband and myself to join him for Sunday lunch. On arrival we were asked if we were joining the party in the main reception room, we said we were not. We were shown into another reception room which had wonderful views into the very well kept gardens. Our waiter explained that we had been given this particular room as they were very busy as they had two large luncheon parties in their dining room. We were delighted to have the room to ourselves. We had a very attentive waiter and the service was excellent. The menu was varied with plenty of choice to suit all tates. I had skate off the bone which was delicious, my uncle & husband had ribeye steaks which were cooked beautifully. The choice of desserts were mouthwatering, I chose the lime cheesecake with honeycomb ice cream. There was also a cheese board for those who don't have a sweet tooth. We all agreed that the service, food and surroundings were first class and would definitely be returning in the future. Witt

It was a celebration event for some eighty guests for lunch.Drinks and canapés on the patio, nice enough setting, garden was nothing to talk about. Service was good, not exceptional, plenty of fizzy stuff. Having had my fill asked for orange juice, hmm never did turn up.Lunch I believe was an hour late, seated in the dining area, just a large room painted white, no features that I noticed, could be anywhere. After a long wait the salmon was served, no complaints. Then yet another long wait before the mains turned up, lamb, ok but over cooked. Then yet another long wait before the dessert turned up followed by coffee. Asked for a fill up of coffee, waiter emptied what was left in the thermos and walked off.Gents loo doubles up as a changing room for guests using the swimming pool. The maître-de did attempt to rally his troops but I don’t think they had their hearts in it, so service was not to scratchIf these guys want to know how to handle a party of eighty and more, attend some of lunches served up in the City of London, all done to time and with precision. It may be a very nice spot for a cup of tea and cake, then again you have the option of popping in at Pembroke Lodge, Cannizaro House and a bit further Chiswick House. So what’s the big deal about Warren House, it's the location. There are many private roads off Coombe Lane and off Kingston Hill, all cul de sacs, but to this estate there are two entry exits from Kingston Hill and one from Coombe Lane and it is this entry exit point that has a manned barrier to stop cars from taking a shortcut to Kingston Hill or vice versa. The estate also accommodates no less than two golf courses and three private schools. So if you are one of the well heeled residents or your kids attend any of the schools you get the privilege of sporting an estates badge on the windscreen of your car. The estate itself has many large houses, most built I think during the ‘50’s and ‘60’s and pretty drab and boring, others of more recent construction

We had a lovely dinner here, starting with drinks on a pretty terrace and moving into the dining room to eat, although we could have eaten outside if we'd wanted to. This is a beautiful building and it was great sitting outside in the evening sun. The meal was good and we can certainly recommend the place. People were eating/staying here while visiting the Hampton Court Flower Show and Wimbledon. The service and menu could have been better, to match the fabulous ambience of the place. It wouldn't take much to make it perfect. Why did our (plastic) jug of Pimms come with such an enormous fruit salad inside that it took ages to prepare and ran out rather quickly? Why was it plonked on the table, leaving us to serve ourselves? Why did the waiters take the trouble to tell us that this was a new menu that would now last for six months? What, till after Christmas? Well maybe not quite that long, but it does last a long time. That would explain why there was hardly anything seasonal on the menu, especially the desserts, at this time of fabulous and reasonably-priced soft fruits. If I were staying here I think I'd get fed up with the same menu all the time. Would it be so difficult to have a few seasonal specials? It was good. Very nice. But it could so easily have been excellent.

Family outing for Fathers Day.. This hotel and restaurant is situated in beautiful grounds and has the potential to be a real gem. On this occasion it would be best left as a hidden one!We had booked outside table and strangely were the only table on what was a sunny day.The main restaurant is so lacking in atmosphere that it defies belief. Really the owners need to do something about this because it could transform the place. We had a very friendly and efficient waiter and that was a real plus point...sadly the food seemed to follow the mood of the restaurant...poor starters tasteless Sunday roast and a lemon tart with so much gelatine that it would have bounced off a wall.Warren House has huge potential to be a gem of a hotel with a wonderful restaurant and I sincerely hope that the owners will take active steps to make it realise its potential

We have been several times for afternoon tea and every time we are not disappointed. There are so many places now that do afternoon tea including top London hotels but this is the best by far, tucked away in New Malden you may not even know it's there. The reason I rate this is so highly;Staff - friendly, professional and always there to help assist and offer more tea and sandwiches ( this is not the case in most other places)Location - beautiful gardens and patio for the summer and cosy armchairs inside for the not so warm months of which there are many.Atmosphere - relaxed, comfortable and there is no rush and you forget about the outside worldFood- the afternoon tea is exceptional from the sandwiches to the scones and pastries, a real treat and gluten free, although you wouldn't know it was gluten free. This is a real gem and I urge anyone to visit and experience this great afternoon tea you will not be disappointed. I know I will be back many times.
