Excellent service by Olivia and delicious food.

Great place whilst visiting. Fantastic vegetarian option. The only minor thing was the table was really wobbly but other than that would recommend.

I visited yesterday evening with my friend, we had a great day. The bartender Joe was super lovely and chatty, such a pleasant young man. We had some starters garlic mushrooms and the chicken,delicious,warm and crispy. We will come back soon.

Sofia served me and she was very helpful and professional.The food was served quickly and was nice and hot. Will definitely be back.

Friendly staff, but slow delivery of food, even though not many diners there. We were a group of six, of which two of our number found their fishcakes dry and lacking in fish and chips overcooked. I had a delicious chicken liver pate, but my lasagne was sloppy and difficult to eat. I found the black americano expensive at £3.95. I would not go back there, although staff were friendly and obliging.

What a lovely and very well kept place! We came over for lunch and dad tried all the beers and we also had cocktails. Service was great too, esp. Young gentleman at the bar. We will be definitely coming back

Came to have lunch Monday and was served by Abbie which was amazing service and the food was delicious and very well prepared!

Visited this afternoon, served by the lovely bartender Joe. He was very attentive and polite. Had the spicy chicken wings which were Soo delicious. Such an underrated bar, would definitely recommend the Shy horse to all my friends.

Come in and got seated and then had our drinks order taken by Joseph who was lovely and very efficient, food was great I had a 10oz ribeye cooked to perfection!

Came in today for a Sunday roast. Delicious meal with very fast service by Sofia, who kept checking up on us over our long stay, making sure all was ok, and that we had the sauces and drinks we wanted. Very busy atmosphere especially in the beer garden. Lovely pub to stop at on a long journey.

Our server was great - Chris. Food was good and atmosphere relaxed. Would recommend to friends.

Nice pub with a nice garden. The service was very good, even tho it was pretty busy. They were working very hard. Their sticky chicken bites are amazing. A couple of stars knocked off because of the high prices, £17-19 for a roast on a Sunday. The food is very good quality tho.

Walked in with some colleagues for some food, got turned away even though plenty of space. Understandable of kitchen is understaffed. Then unbelievably got turned away for one drink! Very strange experience.

On the face of it a very nice pub/restaurant with a good menu and a wide selection of drinks. It was busy when we arrived, and although we had booked, we were told food would take an hour. We accepted this, and 'our' waitress took our order, then promptly disappeared. An hour came and went as we watched meals for eight people delivered piecemeal over about 20 minutes to the next table. At the bar, I overheard another diner cancelling desserts as it had been 45 minutes since they ordered and they needed to travel (pub near Chessington World of Adventures, so lots of tourists I guess), and another couple complaining that guests who had arrived after them had already eaten whilst they were still waiting. Enquiring about our food order, I was asked "What order?" Our waitress had failed to pass it to the kitchen. To the credit of the lady who seemed to be in charge, she did then take the order and promise to rush it through, which she duly did, and did not charge us for it. What arrived was obviously end-of-the-evening remains, but it was hot and we were hungry. I imagine this is a staffing issue, but until it is resoved, I would not recommend.

Food and drink were great. Service very slow - 1 hour and 20 minutes for food even though we had booked and arrived on time.

Starters were lukewarm at best. The main courses took a very long time to arrive and were extremely underwhelming. In particular, the gammon was. very dry and hard to cut. There only seemed to be 3 servers for an increasingly busy restaurant. While they were friendly enough, I will not be returning and would not recommend it as a place to eat.

Walked in, no booking but was welcomed in by staff. Lovely menu catering to various members of our party. Great service by waitress - Cai who was friendly and helpful. Definitely would visit again

We are quite disappointed with our visit. I ordered a steak, there was only 3 cherry tomatoes and a few mushrooms on the plate. My other half ordered the burger, burger was good, but again there was only a few mushrooms. Kids fish and chips was good. They enjoyed it. Kids mains suppose to come with drinks. We ordered three kids main and drinks never came. I didn’t like the option of ordering. We either have to leave the table to order or order by app. Family of 6 with 4 young children under 6, difficult to leave the table to order and the only option left was to order using the app. Friendly staff however it was very difficult to get the staff attention once the food was placed in front of us. I just needed some tap water. Overall, was not an enjoyable experience for us.

Enjoy the new year with friends and this place has really nailed the food, so much so that I keep coming back and bring my friends.We Love it here.

I have no words. A disgrace. 1.45 mins for food. We had a table for 530pm and my 4 and 6 year old were beyond hungry. The building the garden and the baby services are dirty. The baby chair had dirt all over it. Actually felt sick. And when you think you are asking for a wine on menu I was told they have many wines off the menu and gave me a cheap version. To which I complained and said this doesn't taste like the wine on the menu and then she told me it wasnt... Apparently they have lots on the menu. NOT A ELITE PUB.... Then the food came it was disgusting.. rock hard chips, over cooked fish, burnt burger, crucified calamari and gone off Cuecumber. Inedible. Been cooked twice.. They gave us a refund without asking as was the mess that was on our plate. The man manager was lovely managed the situation well and I was angry in the end. Now I have hungry kids on way home to Kent after a lovely day out. This is not a elite pub . Avoid avoid avoid..... stick to the Kent ones

I went to shy horse last Sunday and must say the food was awfull. The roast was under cooked ie new potatoes not roast potatoes, parsnips were raw and my partners was soggy. The lamb had blood and was not cooked properly and portion sizes were appalling very small , I did complain and proceeded to go in to the garden to finish my drink . All I heard was some women trying to sing at the top of her voice from the kitchen and Was more like a cats choir. Other customers were also getting up and going. Staff are letting the shy horse down .the chefs cooking is poor . I have just been to woodies for dinner and it was above and beyond spectacular. Food was amazing and portions were great .staff were so friendly and helpful ,also food was cheaper and good quality. Just goes to show what can be done . I will not be returning to the shy horse again

Medium steak cooked exactly how a medium steak should be cooked. A piece of meat that is hit and miss at restaurants but this place nailed it. Chefs name was Reece apparently, so this guy can cook a steak. 5 stars

This chain is quite expensive, the food is very nice and the staff at this particular place we’re extremely helpful and very welcoming. We definitely go back.

My mums celebration of life was held here and all the staff were absolutely amazing and helpful. Everything we asked for they went above and beyond to cater to our needs. It was excellent.

Plenty of Parking inc. Electric Charging Point. Great food all week long, especially their Sunday Roasts. Large Beer Garden. Wonderful team working with James.

Standard pub food, nice but nothing special. If your staying at chessington, its ALOT better than the parks food for the same price.

Exceptional friendly service from Abby and Dillon. Abby made my mojitos to perfection :) and we thoroughly enjoyed our meals (so thank you chef), the best we've had for a while. All three meals were cooked perfectly while a nice size portion. Will visit again.

I am absolutely disgusted in everything I have experienced tonight I waited 40 minutes for my food to then be told they have no more beef patty’s left although other people was getting them even though we ordered before them!

Really lovely inside and out, real fire and cosy seating. The portions are huge and food was delicious. The team were great and there was even some dominos and cards for the kids to play with while we waited for our food.

I enjoyed a lovely meal with my family. Staff were super friendly and catered to all our needs and requests. Such a lovely pub with excellent food, i would definitely recommend.

I have not been to the pub for a few months but feel they have upped their prices for food and drink. It was a Wednesday around 14.00, we had 2 plain salads, child's meal and a maccaroni cheese, one large white wine, and three other drinks. £92.00. Not sure I will return as other pub restaurants offer better value. The staff were very nice and pub nice and clean.

Just popped in by luck after a day in Chessington and they had space for us . The staff were so happy and pleased to help in any way . The food come up quickly hot and tasted amazing . Will definitely be coming back next time we are in the area .

What a lovely experience! After a very busy day at Chessington we were desperate for somewhere lovely to eat. We found it and I would highly recommend skipping the food offering at Chessington in favour of this lovely little pub. In particular Dylan was an absolute star...two tired 8 years old are not easy to please....but nothing was too much for Dylan....than you so much ❤️

Food was very good. Area we sat in could do with a face lift. It was quite quiet but lunch time on the day after a bank holiday. Not many staff on but the ones that looked after us were friendly and efficient.

Amazing fish for a Sundays lunch. Make sure to book I'm advance, we were lucky to get a table.

Our party of 6 were received with a warm welcome and given a choice of table. We all throughly enjoyed the meals and drinks. What also made our day was Abbie, our waitress. She was always cheerful as well as helpful. Great girl.

I Went to the shy horse for a business meeting with a client, What an excellent pub with a fantastic atmosphere/ exceptional food and extremely professional and friendly service. Perfect environment for sit down meal and chilled out drink. A local pub that gave me a reason to stay a lot longer than needed and even more reason to return with family, friends and clients. Thank you to the staff this evening. Billy, billie, Jake, kelly and Dylan. You were all amazing.

Food was sub-par, used to be a lot better and now gone down hill. Raw potatoes which they did quickly rectify but when looking at the receipt after leaving they added extras, like adding ice cream instead of custard was charged extra but was not told this and was not on the receipt at all. Sly way of making money out of people and we should have been told this was an additional charge when ordering! Plus 2 of our deserts was not substituted as asked and was still charged for it, my mistake for not checking before hand but dodgy business from our server. Was a much better pub when Jess was the manager and gone down hill ever since she left.

I have visited several times this year with family and have found the staff friendly and helpful. We ordered the signature burgers and they were amazing followed by crumble and custard for dessert, delicious. Generous car park. I have no hesitation in recommending The Shy Horse. We will definitely be returning.

Decent local. Reasonable local pub menu.

After visiting Chessington Zoo, and travelling back to Manchester, we didn’t want service station food, so decided to stop at The Shy Horse. The restaurant was busy, with a relaxed atmosphere. It was what us northern’s would call quint, and ‘country’ - this isn’t a criticism, it was lovely. As we were about to start a long journey, we didn’t have starters. We travelled with my 2 girls, 4 and 8 years old. They had meals from the kids menu, one chicken nugget and one fish. They were typical kids meals and they enjoyed them. My husband had a veggie burger (no meat substitute or soya as he doesn’t like it — it was butternut and chickpea) The burger sauce was so good, I asked where they bought it from!! I have a pork belly Sunday lunch. The wait time was a little longer than I’d have liked, however, it was busy and it wasn’t long enough to be complaint worthy. My pork was delicious, however, the rest of the meal wasn’t the best. It was served with apple, which was a slice of apple, which had gone brown and had the stalk and core still with it, it was hard making it difficult to cut without flinging the rest of my food to the next table. The carrots and parsnips with mushy, and the roast potatoes were pre made, hard to cut and dry to eat. The Yorkshire pud , seasonal veg and gravy was nice. I hate to be negative, but want to share MY experience, even though I wasn’t overly happy with my food, I would go back here, if we happened to be in Surrey again. I didn’t complain, as the meat was very good, and I left feeling full, which was the aim for the journey back. The visit generally was very good. Our server Ryan was brilliant, he was attentive and friendly.

I had some bomb burger cooked by chef Hannah and Billie, service as amazing the front staff always helpful and friendly. I strongly recommend it.

A successful visit to the Shy Horse this early evening. We hadn't booked when we arrived and after being advised to do this online we were good to go. When we walked in the staff were pleasant and seated us before returning promptly to take a drinks order. Kids menu has some activities to do which kept our kids busy. Good choice of beers available. Who doesn't enjoy a Peroni out the tap. The kids meals were good although the veg dippers were a little sad and bendy. Cheesy garlic bread was delicious but could argue only needed half the cheese so that it doesn't turn rubbery. Signature burger was good with a generous portion of chips. The pie of the day (beef) was also reportedly good and hit the spot. We declined the puddings as were stuffed but they did look good on the menu. Thank you to the front house staff on shift who were great (11th Feb, 17:00) Overall. a very pleasant meal out.

Lovely Sunday lunch, I had the Schnitzel with is to be recommended. Great service and staff. Only two small things - 6 of us were squeezed onto a table for 4 and I had my back to the door and felt a cold draught every time the doors were opened.

I organised an old car meeting here at lunchtime on New Year’s Day. Despite numbers being a bit more than anticipated the team coped remarkably well and cheerfully with a heavy demand for drinks, bar snacks, and full lunches.

We have been to this pub a number of times with our little boy since he was 3 weeks old! They are very baby friendly and accommodating. The food is lovely, reasonably priced and there is always service with a smile. Thanks to the team!

Our visit was a family gathering, with the full range of ages attending. Clearly a popular place, the restaurant was busy, so we were expecting our order of 17 different meals to take a while and probably come out at different times. Despite all that, they delivered all our meals quickly and together. All the meals were great, decent sized portions too. We had lots of different choices between us, steaks, fish and chips, burgers - all really nice with no issues which, for one of our family gatherings, is quite an achievement! Even my 6yo food connoisseur commented on how tasty the sauce was in his tomato pasta, and my 13yo had no comments to make - praise indeed!! Nice helpful staff. Taking an order of that size can’t be easy, but they handled it really well. Some trips to the kitchen to check availability, a couple of last minute adjustments and everyone was happy. We felt welcome and looked after. An unprompted dessert tribute to the 50yo birthday boy was a nice touch, well done. Top marks for food and service. A bit of a queue at the bar at one point, maybe one more person serving might have eased the wait a little, but it was no biggie. We’ll certainly be back and, if the small water flow issue in the gents is resolved, then it’ll be the full 5 stars next time I’m sure.

A big shout out to James, Dylan and the team at the Shy Horse for such great service when we celebrated my husband's 60th. A sit down meal for 29 people is quite a challenge, but I can honestly say the night could not have gone better! We had a section of the dining area to ourselves, which made the event feel even more special. From my initial enquiry onwards the communication was good and the whole night went very smoothly. The staff were friendly and helpful and although it took a little time to get all the courses out, that's only to be expected, but all the food came out hot and was very good, which is the most important thing! I would thoroughly recommend the Shy Horse for a bigger group meal or even for a regular night out. The interior is welcoming and cosy and it has a nice relaxed atmosphere. The night exceeded my expectation and fun was had by all! Well done!

What a lovely place to have stopped to eat in. As you walk in the open fire greets you, there is nothing like sitting watching the flames flickering. I'm not one for ordering on an app, I worry that what I order may not be what I wanted. Staff here were more than happy to take my order at the bar, makes life easier and gives interaction between guest and staff, something that some places lack in, but not at The Shy Horse, the staff member and I chatted for a while, in fact my meal was ready and we were still chatting. I sat down and I have to say, the portion size was so big, that I was unable to eat all the chips. I had the burger and will confess that I ended up taking that out of the bun and leaving the bun on the side. I'm afraid I had no room left for dessert. I stayed there for some time, people watching, playing on my phone, watching the fire. Although I sat quietly, staff occasionally as they passed me by, would ask if I wanted/needed anything else. I've promised myself a visit here after each pay day. I deserve it.
