And a takeaway meal for 1 mum was ill at home. Just a shame there was no beef left fir me but the pork more than made up for it. Our dog Storm lived the cracking. Our 2nd visit and we will be back. We had Sunday dinner at The Plough to celebrate a family birthday and the ages of our party ranged from 3 to 84 years old. The atmosphere was lovely - a proper country pub feel. We had starters, mains, kids meals and sweets - all of which were delicious. Everyone in the party enjoyed their food. I particularly liked that on a Sunday there was an option other than a roast. Portion size is extremely generous - the pies are huge! The staff were friendly and accommodating. We look forward to returning

Landlord and landlady were extremely pleasant and friendly and it will go down as being one of the best Sunday dinners we have had and plenty of it too. Cracking lunch at the Plough Inn …. Great welcome , great food and great service especially given the “uniqueness” of one of our party (mash & chips !! ). Those pies ! My word , love my pies and that must be the best I’ve ever had (there’s been a few) …. One of those days where you just wander into a place and have a great experience.

Our first time here for food and it won’t be the last. I think Sunday lunch is a benchmark for food standards so given it was exceptional, we are keen to try the other ‘special’ evening menus. From arrival, service was prompt. My husband was deliberating on beers and was given the option of beer samples before ordering. Our table was in the snug with a card game on the table which was a nice touch. Food order was taken promptly and my queries as a vegetarian were answered thoroughly with options. The food was excellent, freshly cooked with fresh ingredients. Proper portions too. My veggie meal (mushroom wellington) was fabulous with another great option (lentil cottage pie), which are great choices and different to the normal slice of uninspiring nut roast at other establishments. We had a side of cauliflower cheese and my husband scraped the dish clean it was so good. Puddings looked lovely but the main was so large we would have struggled, next time I’ll wear an elastic waistband and squeeze in a brownie. So glad to have found this, would happily recommend and look forward to visiting again soon.

Just a quick stop for dinner, but very pleasantly surprised. Wonderful little pub in gorgeous surroundings located alongside the Grantham canal. Polite staff, good mix of beers on tap and a little food menu. The fish and chips have got to be the best I have had in a very long time. I cannot write the words to do it justice. The fish was in a light batter, flakey and delicious. The mushy peas were with a hint of mint and were beautiful. I think the chips are cooked in something illegal as they were amazing as well. Please come here and ask for the fish. You won’t be disappointed!

I booked The Plough Inn for the hen do I was organising. We booked the table for 15 people. Kirsty and the team were amazing! The entire hen party had nothing but positive things to say about The Plough Inn. Kirsty listened to everything we wanted, to make sure the party was personalised, wonderful, and fun. She put our party in our own room and decorated it beautifully with the decorations we provided. A very friendly service and we recieved our pre-ordered meals promptly. The staff were not phased by having a large party in the pub! The roast was delicious and the cauliflower cheese was the group's favourite- and it was agreed some of the best cauliflower cheese we had ever had! The Plough Inn is a lovely pub, with great staff and delicious food - I would recommend everyone to go!

My girlfriend's family have often visited this pub, and have always been generally satisfied. We were visiting from Lancashire, and her brother had booked a table for 8 people plus a two year and an infant. We ordered our drinks from the bar, so no problem with having to wait. The meal orders were taken, of which 3 were the Roast Pork, Yorkshire etc, and one was a Chicken Baguette. 5 of the meals arrived, but the 3 roast pork meals and Chicken baguette failed to make an appearance, eventually after about an hour, the waitress arrived with 4 pork baguettes... whoops.. It took over half an hour to rectify this mistake, by which time the other diners had nearly finished their meals. The accompanying apple sauce had to be asked for. The two year old child was playing with one the toys provided by the pub, and yes it was a bit noisy and irritating but hey ho, a nearby table complained, and we were asked to stop the child playing with it. This is a child and dog friendly pub, and I would have thought the other patrons were aware of this. The food however was good and tasty, but based on the whole experience, I am hard pushed to give more than 2 stars.

Not rushed and nice ambience. Starter was a type of croquette whuch was just delish followed by veggie haggis, neeps, tatties and veggie gravy! Sooo good... The previous landlord delivered an enjoyable pub experience, but disappeared unexpectedly, leaving the pub in "care and maintenance" for a while. The new landlords have (I think) two other pubs in management and this small group has thought carefully about what makes a good village pub.A good range of craft beers and cider, good bar and restaurant food (the Sunday Roast Beef bun in the bar is great value, but then so is the Sunday lunch itself!), and a warm and friendly atmosphere led by the Landlady makes this a well-supported village pub.Landlady, staff and regular drinkers are all very dog-friendly and The Plough is for us once more a first-choice destination. Many thanks to all involved in making it that again.

Warm greeting but then we waited over twenty minutes before anyone would take our order. Gave up waiting for service at our table and went to the bar to get our next drink. Another long wait whilst all the apparent regulars in the bar were served. After another long wait food finally arrived and, for the prices charged, this was nothing special. The re-fit of the eating area is lacking any country pub atmosphere, and due to the lack of soft furnishings and all hard surfaces, is incredibly noisy. We used to come here often and thought we’d try it again after many years away. I don’t think we will be returning anytime soon.

New management has made such a difference at this pub. I have eaten with friends and family several times since they took over and everyone has always remarked on what a lovely time they've had. Food is extremely good value, well balanced and perfectly seasoned. Something for everyone. Tried the Thai on the special menu tonight and haven't eaten any better in Thai restaurants at triple the price. It also allowed us to try bits of each others dishes which added to the social occasion. Husband hadn't eaten anything all day and so, plumbed for the gut buster burger and it certainly was. It also managed to be delicious. As everything is cooked from scratch by an experienced chef, allergies and intolerances are no problem.A lovely evening. Thank you to all for the very warm welcome. Nestled in the heart of typically English countryside next to the canal is this lovely little traditional pub. Since I was a lad it has had an extension but not lost it’s charm. We went on the recommendation of a friend and really enjoyed ourselves. Of course on a Saturday lunchtime it wasn’t packed but that was to our advantage and the service was quick and friendly. The food was delicious, the homemade pie especially tasty. I’ve not had a chicken, bacon and cheddar cheese combination before but it works well. A pint of Bass to wash it down. Joy. We were served by the landlady who was charming. This always reflects to me the atmosphere of the pub. There is a good outside area for sitting out when the weather is warm and the canal is across the lane. Kinoulton is the next Village and is linked by the canal. The Neville Arms is a couple of mile walk along the canal and makes a picturesque amble between the two pubs. If you have dogs this is a great way to spend a Sunday.

We stopped drinking at the Plough just before it changed hands because the standard of beer and quality of food had hit rock bottom. Decided to go back and see how things had changed under the new management this week and WOW, what a transformation. Smaller range of beers but the quality is now right up there with the best - you can tell the new owners know how to look after it. Having eaten and travelled all over Europe there’s nothing more than I enjoy than a nice meal at an English pub. I found this pub to be slightly pretentious with the food not delivering. A young blonde lady greeted us and was very false and seemed to busy to answer our queries. First sign of what was coming. The food was bland and didn’t deliver visually either. I have heard good things about Sunday lunch so after a very mediocre meal on my last visit we decided to give it a try. On being shown to the first table which was filthy, we moved to the next. Had not even sat down and the plague of flies in the restaurant was horrendous so asked to sit outside. Roast beef was inedible, and I could not even cut it but they did replace it when asked, along side another in my party. The veg was just a pile of mixed up mush and the gravy - well sorry but that was an insult to gravy, was just swimming and congealing all over the plate. What on earth has happened to this pub? You really need to up your gain. I for one will certainly not recommend - and I do not take pleasure in writing this for such a local ammenity.

Booked a table at The Plough on Saturday night for 6 of us to celebrate my husbands birthday. Starters of bread and dips were ordered - the breads were OK but it looked as though they were offcuts left on the bread board and the 2 dips were approx. 1 tbsp. each - we had to ask for more. Mains arrived. I had ordered a medium ribeye steak and had to send it back - it was BLACK and resembled charcoal. Whilst waiting for someone to return to our table, my friend announced that the chicken in her 'kebab' was raw, and I mean RAW. She thought the texture was not right when chewing and after putting on her glasses and inspecting the meal, she found the chicken to be raw. After waiting for a while, I went to find someone - the supervisor. She apologised and offered to replace our meals. My friend decided to go for the haloumi kebab instead of the chicken. We waited, and waited. The other four members in our party had finished their meals and it was in total 35 minutes before replacement meals were brought to us. My steak arrived minus salad garnish and stilton sauce and quite honestly, it was a smaller version of the previous piece of BLACK CHARCOAL I had originally been served. Then my friend announced her haloumi was cold! The Supervisor has dashed off before we could say anything so again I went to find her. Again she was apologetic but I asked to see the Manager or the chef. The Manager was not in and the chef did not venture from her kitchen. We refused the meals and refused to pay which the Supervisor accepted and again apologised. Although my friend had eaten some of the raw chicken, fortunately she was OK the next day, however it could have been a very different story. And with regards to my steak - what a joke to be served 2 cremated steaks. Absolutely disgusted with the food and service - totally ruined an evening out to celebrate a birthday. Definitely won't be going there again and I would advise anyone considering eating there - DON'T!!!

okay so I have just been to the Plough for the first time on a Sunday for the roast - just fantastic! a landscape of potatoes with majestic mount yorkshire pudding in the background, below rolling fields of succulent beef leading down to a lake of just the best gravy with hedgerows of veg of all sorts meandering around the edges. and did I say how big it was? wow - fab.

We were on a journey and popped in here for a lunch one Sunday. They were busy and we had no booking but they were very happy to accommodate us and gave us a very warm welcome. The restaurant was warm even though there was thick snow outside and the roasts were very tasty, the meat tender and the portions very generous. There was a big choice of desserts which were lovely.

I have just been fed the worst meal I have ever received in a restaurant. The flavours of everything on my plate were unpleasant. I cut into a black cloudy thing thinking it was probably meat, but no, it had started out as a Yorkshire pudding before it was turned to charcoal. If I’d have taken that out the oven it would have gone straight in the bin and not on anybody’s plate. not even my own. The meat was described as roast belly pork, it had every appearance of being reheated in thick slices, blackened skin, no crackling, and far more stuffing than meat.

An empty restaurant on a Friday evening should have altered us. Obliging staff but very disappointing food. Sadly we will not return.

Went to The Plough yesterday for Mothers Day the food and service were excellent. We had taken my mother who is 96, the waitresses and Nicola were very accommodating to her needs. Will certainly be returning.

We've been here several times since the pub changed to new owners and continue to enjoy ourselves whenever we come. The last occasion was for lunch, which, combined with a glorious walk in late afternoon winter sunshine along the Grantham Canal, right outside, made for a splendid day. The pheasant pie has to be mentioned. It is superb. It is rare to get a short-crust pastry pie, these days, at least one that has been properly baked not microwaved. There was a wait for it to be prepared - but a wait that was truly worthwhile. Well done chef! And thanks, too, to the excellent waiting staff. You can be proud of what you've achieved at The Plough! Happy Christmas all!!

Just arrived home from a second visit to this lovely pub with some work friends and we were thrilled to find it was Curry Night, more like Curry Feast!! Loads of the most delicious food, starters, mains and sides all home made for a tenner, we were all stuffed but luckily we were greedy and managed pudding as well black Forest trifle mmmm,if it's on the menu when you visit order it, it was gorgeous. I can't wait for our next visit,I can't end this review without mentioning how welcoming the ladies who waited on us were, hope to see you soon!!

What a fantastic night. There were 42 of us and the service was excellent. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was great. Everyone seemed to enjoy it. It is my local and I love it. Thank you to all the staff for giving us a great night.

I for one was slightly critical after the change of ownership on lots of points but I am pleased to say that the Girls have obviously taken some of the criticism on board and now seem to realise what is required of a village pub and have made changes for the better the staff are now more customer focused, the food is excellent and good value,

We've just finished an excellent meal here. Food was outstanding, all fresh, homemade and piping hot. Its the only place I've ever been asked how I like my roast beef, which was a big plus for us because we like ours rare. There were plenty of fresh veg and the herby roast potatoes were really nice too. Yorkshire puddings are enormous and fluffy. The pub also serves a selection of good wines by and glass and real ales as well as fruit shoots for kids. What made our visit extra special though were the friendly and understanding staff. We have three children who have learning disabilities and social, emotional and sensory difficulties. Staff were great with them. The restaurant is homely and quiet with gentle music playing and this helped my son relax as loud noise unsettles him. There is also a lovely kids play area outside and a canal with ducks over the road. Thanks for a fabulous experience, we will definitely be back!

We had been reading mixed reviews since Bob left, but thought we’d give it a try.Arrived just after 3.00pm, only a few tables still occupied, but we were told it had been very busy.We had two dogs with us and were told they were welcome, we were seated in the ‘snug’ and without asking a bowl of water appeared for the dogs. The choice of starters was somewhat limited we thought and to be honest were just adequate. However, the main courses were exceptional, as good as we have had anywhere, yep really that good. The service was friendly and helpful, couldn’t fault it!Will we return? Yes we will, admittedly there wasn’t the buzz present as when Bob was there, but the new owners are trying and deserve support ....

Decided to give The Plough a return visit last night. Friendly atmosphere in the snug & bottom bar, the top bar was quiet. Friendly inclusive service, waited about 30 mins for our main course long enough for a quiet restaurant, both were delicious, halloumi kebab & a gammon steak. Presentation of the gammon plate could have been improved with some colour but enjoyed all the same. The Lemon Posset was super. Staff were attentive but not intrusive. Good to catch up with a few locals which are any country Pub’s bread & butter come the winter time. Very pleased we gave it another go & my Dad’s photo still hangs in the snug - just thanks Girls.

Visited today and we received a warm welcome including a bowl of water for our thirsty hounds. We had the two course menu which was amazing value at £13. Food was well presented and tasted great. Got so much more for your money than at the pub/restaurant chains. Staff were very friendly and helpful.Looking forward to our next visit.

Refused cash payment. Will not be returning as we only use cash for various reasons. What kind of business does not want to take payment!

This place has fallen off; it used to be our go-to for Sunday dinner, but the food has taken a nosedive and needs some TLC. Half of the tiles are off the wall in the toilets. Parking has always been difficult here, but it doesn't help that they now have a food truck occupying four spaces. The only saving grace is that it still has excellent service.
