Good straight forward pub carvery . Great food, great service. Would recommend.

Had a truly lovely tasty Sunday lunch with lots of good tasty meats. The service was spectacular from Joe & India & Chef. So much to choose from including tasty stuffing. Thank you Dr Stevenson & Kyle.

Came here tonight with my partner, it was our first ever visit and it’s fair to say we will definitely be back again! Absolutely beautiful carvery, great atmosphere and a really cosy place! Great experience 😄

Whent yesterday at 1-30 tablet for 2, in the queue for the carvery the lady in front of me asked for pork, 2 slices of turkey & a slice of gammon, I was next he asked me what I wanted & I said we only eat turkey he put 2 slice on my plate I said I could eat a bit more & he put a piece the size of a 50p coin, that was a insult, we won't be going back there again, not very good value at £20 each.

Amazing Sunday cavery! Super accommodating for those with gluten allergy, received gluten free Yorkshire, stuffing and gravy separate from the carvery and most of the carvery was gluten free also! Makes a change from just getting offered extra veg at other places when I always say yorkies and stuffing are the best part of the roast 👌🏼 will definitely be returning, also we we wanted to move outside before having dessert as it was warm weather and the lovely staff were more than happy to escort us and help us out to a nice decking area as we’d never been there before. 10/10

Lovely, helpful staff made our 'suprise birthday' lunch for a friend go smoothly. Food ( carvery) was delicious, generous portions, and hot, as we got back to the table. (So many are luke warm by then. ) service with a smile. 😃

Not a nice atmosphere. Manageress only friendly to the locals, police were called to an incident manageress let get out of hand. Not sure why a bouncer was present but wasn’t very friendly and very unapproachable. Would avoid and head over to Ruddington instead

Not sure what the door staff dress up as at this establishment but they aren’t very friendly. Police were there too! Not a nice environment atall.

So on the strength of coming over with my friend to sample the Tuesday menu, which we enjoyed, we decided to sample the Sunday carvery, having heard good things about it & we booked a table for 12pm. We arrived a bit earlier & people had come in before & after us & the service seemed disorganised. We were told to wait in the seated bar area as the rest of the staff weren't ready as yet which wasn't an issue but then we saw other people walk in after us & seat themselves at tables! After a few minutes of this, we went over to the bar as it seemed we had been forgotten! We were then seated after a few more minutes & checking we had booked. We had a drinks order taken & drinks arrived but no one came to take a food order for a while. We didn't want starters but it would have been nice to be asked. Someone finally came to the table & said we could go to get our carvery & I also ordered a takeaway one plus a dessert for my fiance. From then on, the service did improve apart from the card machine going down, this did cause a delay in paying but the staff were apologetic about it. The signal isn't the best in the pub. And now onto the food, the carvery was indeed very good & plentiful. There were a choice of meats - roast beef, turkey, pork & gammon, a really delicious stuffing, lots of vegetables & potatoes. It was a very decent roast. Everything tasted good. Hopefully things will not be as chaotic as they were in the beginning for us, should we visit again.

I have visited this pub numerous times over the years as I work nearby and the food has always been of a fairly good quality. The food prices are reasonable, although a little on the higher side, however the drinks are borderline extortionate. You’d be lucky to get much change from a £20 note for three beers, which is very pricey even in this day and age!

We got recommended here for the carvery and were so impressed! The carvery was excellent and the service was exceptional. We got served by the lovely Brooke. We’ve already planned our next visit, can’t wait

Carvery was excellent, great range and amount of carved meat. Great variety of fresh veg and potatoes. Disappointed with frozen yorkies though! Dessert slightly underwhelming...sticky toffee pudding was quite dry and sauce was almost set on the top. Seated next to carvery so very noisy and a constant queue of people next to us. Overall an excellent Sunday lunch but would skip dessert next time

Visited early evening for the first time. Great food and service , just a shame the place felt very cold, kept my jacket on throughout. Could be more cosy to give it a warmer feel to the place.

Great carvery option, excellent selection of sides to load the plate up with! Everything from your classic carrot to year round brussell sprouts, to mini sausages to root veg mash. The meat itself was very good, I had beef and ham, which was all flavoursome and served in a good portion size (3 to 4 slices of meat). The chap on the carvery section itself was a good laugh, very fun and engaging with the conversation. Don't fill up too much on the carvery though, as the desserts options are good, rich and decadent too! There wasn't really enough parking in their car park, and the dining rooms got very warm on a hot day.

Best Calvery around, the atmosphere is always friendly too. The chap cutting the meats always loves a good chat!

We came for the buffet not realising and it was delicious. Best ham I’ve ever had, the desserts were amazing. The staff were all very lovely and on the ball. Fantastic atmosphere and charm. We will be back!

Can not fault the carvery it was lovely and plenty to choose from ,fresh veggies and delicous roasties. Only downside was the queue for the carvery . To many people booked in at the same time. Think it might help if times were staggerd so not everyone is going to the carvery when booked for 12 clock. By the time we were leaving around 2 pm ish there was only 2 people waiting at the carvery and the resturant had filterd out a bit more so not so crowded. I would recommend going around 1.30 for a carvery . Food delicous though.

Asthetic pleasant,but physically cold room, staff pleasant and polite, food perfectly edible but nothing out of the ordinary, portion size small and limited main meal choice, does not justify charge, overall a disappointing experience I will not be repeating, recomend look around you can do better.

Booked a table for 8 for a Sunday carvery - had a very warm welcome, staff were really helpful and everyone really enjoyed the food. Having gluten free options for the roast were fantastic - the Yorkshire puddings especially - Will be back soon!

Tasty carvery after a nice walk in the park nearby. All the staff were very friendly. The chef carving the meat was super nice and funny. The food was perfect tasted like a homemade Sunday roast. Good value, traditional decor just want you want for a Sunday lunch with family.

What a great Sunday lunch. We had a late Christmas get together with friends and hugely enjoyed our meal out with them. Georgia and India at the venue were super helpful in talking through my access queries for my powerchair. The corridor was pre-cleared of chairs for me to get to the facilities. Very helpful email chats before we arrived. It was really busy and everyone was kind in the carvery queue while I made my way round. Lovely atmosphere too.

The best Sunday roast I've had for years ! Great staff, helped us upstairs with a pram without asking. Can't rate this place highly enough. Loved it.

Fantastic customer service, food was plentiful and well cooked. I have been several times in the last 12 months and have always been happy with every aspect. Wednesday evening I was with a group of around 20 and the service and food was great. Would recommend.

Always amazing food (and lots of it!). Very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable staff - nothing is too much trouble. Dietary requirements catered for excellently - especially great (and safe) for those with coeliac disease. Highly recommended - particularly the Sunday carvery.

A really good carvery with a large number of choices

All good except restaurant was cold maybe because it was lunchtime

Not sure what has happened to this place but absolutely horrendous service and food last night. I don’t leave reviews but it was that bad I felt the need to…this used to be a lovely place, not sure what’s changed but avoid at all cost!

Expensive food, no better than average. The salmon and sauce was nice but the "roast vegetables" were barely cooked. The red onion was raw (and it wasn't a salad). Cost 18.50 so definitely needed to be really good for that price and wasn't. I don't drink alcohol and the almost total lack of non alcoholic drinks was pathetic. I had tap water. Would not go back. This place is totally overrated.

The Rancliffe Arms is simply the best pub for miles and miles. The food is delicious and beautiful. The menu more than enough variety to choose from. My dad is a carnivore and I’m vegetarian and the staff and chef couldn’t have been more helpful ax we ordered. The wine is lovely too and dad enjoyed the beer/shandy. I don’t bother writing reviews but this pub is so gorgeous I had to write - and no!, I’m not related to anyone to do with pub. It’s just lovely.

Shame the meat servings aren’t equal couple before us had 2 beef & a lump of pork each on our turn 1 beef & 2 pork expertly cut with a laser beam excellent meal spoiled by a lack of meat obviously my face doesn’t fit with the chef!

We recently moved to the area and loved the food an atmosphere here but for the last 2 weeks food has been pretty poor and the service has been bad today. We ordered lunch last week to take out and the chips were overly salted and not fresh. It looked like chips that had been refried. Not the usual quality. The food in the evening was not any better. Lasagna portion and quality was not the same standard as 6 weeks prior. Much small portion, not a lot of sauce and just very flat looking in general. We visited again tonight to give it another chance as it has become our weekly once a week eat out, but the burger bun felt like it had just been de frosted, the fish and chips was oily and both the chip portions was Small with a lot of scrappy bits. The servers are usually very good and attentive but we had to ask 3 servers for ketchup after not receiving it for 10 minutes. It just got frustrating being ignored. It didn’t feel like the servers were interested tonight either. not an issue we’ve had before. We are really hoping the standards and quality will go back to its usual!

Enjoyed our Sunday carvery here last Sunday. Chef is very friendly and cheerful, staff love,y and helpful. Food plenty and very good quality. I will be back

The sandwich we shared (brie and grape) was nice as were the chips but it was garnished with a piece of limp water cress which kind of spoilt the look of the spread. Apart from that we enjoyed our snack.

We had a lovely carvery on Sunday. The place was pretty busy but we were able to get a table for a birthday meal. The meat was nicely cooked and there was a good selection of pork, ham, turkey and beef. There was a better than usual selection of vegetables too. Recommended

Lovely pub with great food. There was a little wait when we arrived as our table was being set but the staff were apologetic as it was very busy. Even though busy, we were sat comfortably. Service was brilliant, carvery was everything and more, there was a choice of a few meats and so much to choose from in terms of trimmings and the server on the meat was excellent. A really kind and talkative man, made us feel very welcome. A great experience all round, with great service and excellent food. I can't recommend the carvery enough.

Probably the best UK carvery/buffet meal I think I have ever had. A Wednesday night with two friends from school days and our wives. (One lives locally). At last, somewhere where the dinner plates are hot and the carvery meats were generous and beautifully cooked. The vegetables and side dish variety was fantastic - not the usual boring 'peas and carrots'. Cauliflower cheese, roast parsnips, green beans with peas, brussel sprouts, carrots, fried onions with cocktail sausages, broccoli, cabbage, Yorkshire pud, roast potatoes, a good gravy. Lovely staff and definitely a place I'd love to return to when back in the UK.

We went to celebrate my husband's birthday. We both had turkey, and we were the first in the queue. The turkey was dry, tough and pink, so couldn't eat it. The vegetables were good though. The service was good. It's a shame that the food wasn't as good as it has been in the past. This place used to be our favourite, but after today's disappointment, we will find another place next time.

We got sat at a dirty table. And then when we went up for our carvery. The chef was talking about how he didn't like Guys, that dress in girls cloths , saying how he saw one. Earlier in the pub and he felt disgusted. Food was way Overseas, and when we complained about our food, it was like we were in the wrong. Wouldn't advise eating here.

I'm absolutely disgusted we.booked for Christmas Dinner and paid a deposit in January we are a family of 4 and due to my mum being very poorly and passed away 2 weeks ago we contacted the rancliffe Arms to say we wouldn't come due to whats happened and they didn't even offer to give us are deposit back not even my mums

Incredible carvery, so much choice you won't leave hungry. Staff are lovely and the place feels so cozy.

The biggest issue here is the flies! Asian lady is superb. Drinks are a little bland and not well kept.

Not sure what the rave reviews are about. Food was fine but nothing more. Distinct lack of parking caused chaos on arrival. More training of staff needed - wrong drinks orders, abruptly managed time issue and incorrect bill. Fine but nothing more.

Have stopped here many times and always feel welcome and settled upon arrival. The team are great, and the pub itself is very warm, welcoming and perfect on a cold day or evening. The prices are a little on the high-side, but this is worth it as I've always had a consistent and fantastic experience at The Rancliffe Arms. Good location, and in the centre of the countryside so can couple this with either a walk or stop if you're heading out into Loughborough.

Great lunch menu, Wraps are brilliant well stuffed with filling and very fresh. Chips could be cooked a tad longer but that's personal preference.

Awful experience for Father’s Day this year. We were situated at the table right in front of the carvery, which when we arrived and sat down seemed fine as the place wasn’t too busy. We were the first in the queue to get our carvery. I was holding my son’s plate and my own and burnt my finger on the hot plate whilst setting the plates down which was a poor start. As we sat down to eat we realised how hot the restaurant was and moved a plug in air fan which were placed sporadically throughout the restaurant so we could feel the breeze. As we continued the place quickly filled up and the queue for the carvery snaked around our table the whole time we were eating. We were stared at by the inquisitive queue for the whole while we were eating. In addition, the man carving the food fancied himself as a bit of a comedian, shouting down to people he knew in the queue throughout and it was SO loud, we couldn’t hear ourselves think or make conversation between ourselves. It was ridiculously hot and our only sauce of air was being blocked by the ever-growing carvery queue. For balance, the food itself was good and I had only booked the table two days prior but was assured a table for 4 was no problem. After eating our carvery, I ushered a staff member over (believe he was the manager) I explained that whilst we had enjoyed the food it was a completely unpleasant experience. He claimed to understand and apologised that we had been given the last table as they were at full capacity. I told him I’d have rather him turned down our booking than cram us in like pilchards. We are talking £27.50 a head, £15.50 for our little one. We got our deserts to go and left, £115 lighter after a terrible 50 minutes of what was supposed to be a lovely treat for my husband and father in law. I was disgusted that not even a single drink had been removed from the bill. I understand that you may want to get as many covers as possible, but this should not be to the detriment of the dining experience. Very poor, greedy management.

It was ok, we visited late afternoon on a Saturday it was quiet but the majority of the outside tables had not been cleared or cleaned. The gents are probably the worst I have encountered. Would not want to eat there

Need to serve light bits not every one wants a meal

It's been a while since we visited and we were a little disappointed. On a positive the staff were friendly and polite. Unfortunately the place seems tired. We were served tea in a chipped cup. The sofa we sat on was ripped and worn. The curtains were coming apart and there was mold on the wallpaper. £4 for a few chips did seem a bit much.

Lovely restaurant/pub to have a meal. Excellent service and good price, good wine selection. The food is sublime, so so good.

Food in here was always nice and it used to be our lunch pub but the quality of food and waiting time gone extremely bad recently. Been there twice last week for lunch, every time we had to wait for over 80 mins for food. Moreover, the qualify of food was pretty bad - dry meat, soggy chips, etc. Also service wasn't very good neither. I think the management team needs to do something to get this sorted!

Been coming here since just 5 years old (I'm now 14) and every time it doesn't dissapoint. The service is amazing and well managed, the food is freshly prepped (especially good on a sunday carvery) and people have a large amount of respect for each other. Overall amazing experience and nothing compares.

We had lunch here last Saturday and unfortunately not as good as it used to be. Although the restaurant was quite empty, it took an hour for our food to arrive, which was 2 burgers and 2 sandwiches and a bowl of soup! The quality was just “ok” overpriced for what it is. The staff were not attentive at all, and didn’t ask basic things like more drinks or if we wanted the bill etc. Having a baby with us we gave the table a wipe down in front of him for hygiene and the wipes came away filthy, the cleaning regime leaves a lot to be desired. A shame this is what we experienced as it used to be great, we won’t be back any time soon. I imagine the carvery is better.

We have been coming to this restaurant for at least 17 years. Our boys now men love it also. The family run restaurant has always provided fresh, quality local, food. We live 30 minutes away but travel every week. We love to eat in the restaurant but also in the lounge by the open fire. Danny that carves the meat, remembers everyones name and remembers all their favourites choices. The vegetables are amazing with all the sauces they are cooked in. The staff are so welcoming and friendly as well as Rachel and her daughters. It’s never been beaten in our opinion and that’s why we are continuing to eat here.

Went today 7/5/23 for Sunday lunch I'd heard lots of good reports..Lovely country feel restaurant..starters very nice..mains nice but lacked seasoning but 1st class roasts potatoes plus stuffing n beef..desserts now weather is getting warmer need a couple of ice cream sundaes on the menu

Visited as a family. No children’s menu and no flexibility in terms of smaller portions from the main menu. £8.50 for a child’s chicken and chips was a little steep compared to comparable pubs that offer much more at a better price. Nothing exciting in terms of draft beer. Adult dishes ok but nothing more. Overcooked pork and average service.

This was our first visit on a recommendation. We wanted to try the carvery, as some are not too good with everything tasting the same. This carvery is delicious. Everything was cooked very well. The meats were quality and not cheap cuts. Plenty of variety of vegetables, etc. Friendly, helpful staff. Very enjoyable and we will definitely be visiting again soon. Thank you. xx
