A large spacious pub. Friendly staff with good service...ideal for the cricket ground (2 mins) or either of the two football stadium....NFFC or NCFC (4 mins). A clean place. Large spacious Loos. Full disabled access. Level access throughout. Smallish outdoor seating area. Great food. Typical Wetherspoons menu. A fairly decent price structure. Exceptionally busy on match and test days. Buggy and pushchair friendly.

Myself and my wife are members at Notts cricket club next door to the pub and visit twice weekly when Notts have a home game. Can get very very busy on match days particularly if it's an international fixture. A nice historic pub with memories of legendary players dotted around the building. Good and cheap food is served quickly by considerate staff. Would highly recommend a visit.

I ordered a mixed grill on 26/1/24 and decided to leave the gammon till last as it is my favourite part usually, well today my gammon was raw in the centre so I took it to the bar to ask a server to cook ot further if possible, not interested in a refund or any exchange. The server gave me a dead stare as if I was speaking another language of which they did not understand at which point the manager Dave (long hair with a ponytail) explained that there was nothing thst could be done. So in short you order food expecting it to be of satisfactory condition, you receive raw meat and when you ask for it to be cooked so that it is safe to eat you are told there is nothing that can be done. Shocking service from a once reliable pub. Do not enter this place. Go else where

My review is purely based on a service I received. I have moved to Nottingham in the end of the summer and occasionally I pop in here as it’s just few minutes away from my house. Today I decided to treat myself for a dinner as a fellow hospitality worker I don’t want to cook on my day off. I have met such a nice lovely team member today! An older gentleman was so polite and welcoming, he took my order and even offered me a sample of a guest ciders that I was intrigued by. He also notified me how long my food will take straight after I paid and brought my plate to the table. He also did a check back and he just seemed so lovely overall. I have never seen him working here before, but he is definitely what this pub needs!

Pathetic experience. I ordered 2 pints of bitter, a double dark unspiced rum & a double gin & tonic. The bill came to £16.21. The barmaid asked what type of rum I wanted, I said dark unspiced. She said what type. I said I don't know what type of unspiced dark rum you serve don't you not know ? The barmaid took my order cashed in my bar bill & then disappeared. I enquired to another member of staff what is happening to my order. I was then met with an aggressive duty manager who refused to fulfill my order informing me I would not be served due to my passive aggressive manner when ordering & her bar maid was in floods of tears upstairs after I placed my order & she took my money. I did not raise my voice when speaking to the manager arguing my case, ignoring other people who wanted to get involved in my discussion. We all left the pub realising any further conversation was futile. I am still waiting for my £16.21 refund & suggest that any bar staff working in this establishment should be properly trained & made fully aware of the products they sell.
