Ok little pub but very out dated, I felt I was in my grandparents house. No atmosphere and pub was empty at 5pm. Barman very pleasant mind,

Batman is very pleased with his food. will go again. (no bandits in sight, all in the asylum.)

Closed for refurbishment. The website does not say so!

I went Sunday lunchtime and had a hot beef cob with roasties and gravy and it was lovely.😊 Nice to see a pub busy and I can understand why. Made to feel welcome and the Pedegree was fab. Give it a go.

Beer ok, bit crowded but it was New Years Eve

I am a member of a small group of retired friends who walk most wednesdays. The Cuckoo Bush has been a Pub we have used for lunch many times over the years. We had to stop walking during lockdown and found on one occasion, that the Pub was shut. It was only recently we heard it had reopened, and we lunched there after walking today. As it turns out it was Jo who served us and we were impressed at her friendliness. We had a snack lunch, and were impressed to find that Gluten free bread and rolls were available for my friend, who is a Cealiac. We had a very nice lunch, the beer was good, and the Pub is now back on our list of lunchtime walking Pubs. Well done.

A nice friendly local pub. Disappointed on our third visit that the Thursday quiz night was abandoned because of lack of support. It's probably a sign of the times, where folk are staying in, I hope not. Nice piping hot, well presented food .

What a great night! We took our family for pie night. We’d heard how good the specials nights are and thought we’d give it a go. We were not disappointed. We had delicious home cooked, fresh food, excellent service and the warmest of welcome. Top tip! Leave room for dessert… Jo’s rhubarb crumble is amazing! Crispy crumble topping just as it should be. A perfect bake 😋 I could eat that again tomorrow given half the chance! From the minute we arrived nothing was too much trouble. The pub is great. A good selection of beers, dogs are welcomed in all except the dining area during service. There’s a lovely garden area for the summer evenings. It was a really hot night, 25 degrees but the team didn’t let that slow them down. It doesn’t stop there, throughout the week there is always something happening. Specials nights, coffee mornings and quiz night just to name a few. I’d highly recommend the Cuckoo Bush. If you’re in the area, pop in, you won’t be disappointed. Thank you Jo & Richard, we will definitely be back for another specials night.

Visited after seeing Cuckoo Bush had new owners at Gotham Fest. The food was great, and after seeing the menu, we'll be back to try the breakfast and special dinner nights! The staff and owners were lovely, welcoming and engaged. Great beer garden too and dog friendly. A little gem of a place!

Took my parents for lunch on a Saturday, the staff were lovely and accomodating and the food was great. I had a ploghmans lunch and the amount for the cost was so worth it! We will definitely be returning to try out the set menus for each day.

Recently re opened traditional pub with cask asks, coffee mornings , breakfasts, lunches Sunday lunches and with slimmers world choice’s There’s evening meals . Steak , curry which I had last week and was loverly Regular quiz and play your cards right nights Nice beer garden Family run and you will not get a more friendly welcome from Jo and Richie who only took over a few weeks ago and have turned this lovely village pub around.

Lovely people, trying their best, worth a visit

Not at all impressed. Went for Sunday Dinner - only one piece of meat and a small portion. Couple asked for child’s portion and got exactly the same as us. No mustard, there is better value for money elsewhere eg the Plough at Normanton. The Sun over the road although not great does a great Sunday dinner for less.

Great to see this fantastic Gotham pub get back to its true potential.... now under new management and the great Cuckoo Bush feel is returning 👍

Me and Big Gazza stopped by here after having the Quadruple Cheeseburger. The Cuckoo Bush Inn is very impressive! as soon as I walked in I could smell how hard the staff worked, it was like a salty sauna in there, brilliant! Me and Big Gazza ordered a few pints and had some Jägerbombs, the drinks were top quality. 10/10 from me.

Nice beer, good food, great atmosphere

Me and my wife were travelling through and spotted this pub so we pulled in. The young barmaid was very polite and told is she would come to take our order at a table. My wife sat down and I went to the toilet. On returning to the bar the poor girl couldn’t pour a shandy and the head of the pint was almost half a pint so i told her to slighty tilt the glass. My wife asked for a non alcoholic lager but they had none then asked for a fresh orange juice with lemonade again they had no fresh orange juice. So my wife sat at the table with no drink until i drank my shandy and we left. We felt for the young barmaid as this was not her fault

We visited the Cuckoo Bush on 31st of July with friends to celebrate my brother’s life who sadly passed away on Christmas Eve. All I can say is the so called landlady who was quite happy taking £35 to £40 rounds all day was so so rude & unprofessional at the end of the night. Firstly the idea of putting a fleece blanket around me that you don’t know who else has used disgusts me, especially with so many people having Covid, however my Neice did. The landlady walked over ripped it from around her saying buy ya F——-g own £6.50 from Amazon because she actually really thought she was going to pinch it. Another village pub ruined by a young lady, I use that term loosely who hasn’t got a clue. Maybe daddy should of used some of the money getting her two pubs in the village on charm school.

Such an improvement since Laura and Ben have taken over. The pub is alive again. Quite a few people were eating last night including our group of nine. All the meals came out together and all were very good. Only slight downside was the the portion sizes were a bit on the small size for the men but perfect for us women. Would definitely recommend trying the food all of which was excellent value for money.

Great beer. Honest, simple, good value lunch menu - we had the scampi and the liver - both were delicious. Friendly service too.

On the verge of changing landlords so very few beers available. Service friendly but also made to feel like you were intruding. Should improve when changeover is complete.

Simply amazing homemade pies. I tried chicken and leek which was rich, succulent and very satisfying. Well worth trying if in the area and you like pies.

I have been here several times in the past and the food has always been very good. It has recently changed hands and I haven’t been back yet, so watch this space.

Famous birds nest in Bat Man Town, King John hated Gotham. Most customers and residents are crazy see King John comment above.

Fuimos a comer algo rápido y llegamos a las 6:15, pedimos dos comidas de tiras de pollo a un precio de 7. 45 cada uno. Nos dijeron en el bar el gerente que acababa de salir de la cocina "habrá una espera de 30 minutos, ya que acababan de tener un grupo de 9 personas. Me pareció un poco extraño que no pudieran hacer frente a los 9". Pedidos más nuestros dos, pero dijimos que esperaríamos. Después de 1 hora, uno de los locales que sabe que el personal tenía que ir a la cocina para averiguar dónde estaba nuestra comida. No era su lugar, pero se disculpó por el retraso. Cuando llegó fueron 3 pequeñas tiras de pollo, del tipo que comprarías en un paquete de 15 piezas de Asda para 3. 99, batatas fritas, 3 aros de cebolla que ni siquiera estaban crujientes y un poco de ensalada y ensalada de col picada. No hubo ninguna disculpa por llegar tarde y tuve que pedir condimentos. Ninguno de los dos sentimos que habíamos comido cuando nos fuimos. Asqueroso

Visité el Cuckoo Bush con mi familia y amigos cuando pasábamos por Gotham, el personal es muy amable y acogedor, permitieron que nuestros perros entraran, lo cual fue una ventaja, todos disfrutamos la comida que pedimos, comí canelones de espinaca y ricotta con bolas de masa y estaba delicioso. Definitivamente volveré de nuevo.

Compre uno y obtenga uno gratis en excelentes postres si compra 2 platos principales, no puede salir mal. Una mención especial al excelente barman que se tomó el tiempo y el esfuerzo para hablar con todos sus clientes, lo hizo sentir muy bienvenido y valorado como cliente, encantador tío.El resto del menú se ve encantador con mucha variedad y ofertas especiales en el tablero.Llamaremos de nuevo.

Good solid pub grub, great value

We booked for a very large party of people and the pub staff were great. Food was hot and fresh, and great value for money. Despite the obvious difficulties catering for such a large party (16 people) the afternoon went very well. The atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable with a good simple pub grub menu. The staff deserve a thank you for making the lunch a success!

Nos presentamos 'on spec', a última hora de un domingo a mediodía, con la esperanza de conseguir una comida. Aunque bien reservado, nos encontramos con una mesa. Los almuerzos de los domingos son de 3 opciones, 2 opciones de tamaño; elegimos la comida estándar más grande. ¡Guauu! Buena comida de pub, mucha, atendida por un personal amable, incluso Wadworths 6 X fue excelente. La factura final fue sorprendentemente ligera, un gran final para una buena comida. El factor decisivo es: ¿volveríamos a comer aquí? ¡Oh sí, sin duda!

2 steaks for 25.00 and bottle of wine beautiful meal but ordered a Stilton sauce which cost me 6.95 a big shock plus had a pint of bitter a coke 6.15 won't be back

Dropped in for a quick pint, ended up staying for a full meal and several drinks! Tasty food at very reasonable prices. Talked ourselves onto dessert as the main was so good. Service at the bar was very friendly and helpful. We will be back!

A lovely traditional little pub we have visited a couple of times now for Sunday lunch treat with my mother. Lovely couple that run this pub with a charming young man behind the bar. Nothing it to much trouble they even put themselves out to please my mother and cook her something especially to make her happy, which wasn't on the menu for Sunday lunch, great food fantastic service. We will definitely will be calling in again soon
