Great place for darts, beer good price

Lovely interior with a great selection of beers. Wines and gins! Sat outside in the rear beer garden before having a lovely Sunday dinner ( lamb) washed down with a few Cornish Rattler ciders! Nice! Friendly staff made a great afternoon dinner with the family 👪! 😂 Sorry to add this but this pub is failing badly now. Hardly any ales 🍺 and very slow. The single staff member apologised for the lack of drinks. Felt sorry for her as not her fault.

Glad this place is back open,great beer and atmosphere, hopefully serving food soon...... Back again for another few pints of Guinness..would be nice to get the fire going though. Update, 06/04/2024, 2nd visit in a month and each time hardly any beer on, blaming delivery's again...at this rate it will be shut again...next stop Manvers..

10/10. Wow, had a full English breakfast this morning with the market stalls in the car park. As I chef for nearly 20 year I couldn’t find a fault. Breakfast was piping hot and great quality. Staff was extremely friendly and let me swap an item I didn’t like. As I new local to the area I will be definitely going back. Well done!

A most enjoyable evening spent at the Rose & Crown. We had a very warm welcome from Elly the landlady and staff alike. The pubs ambiance was wonderful. The food was delicious and very well presented, the staff very obliging. In all a most wonderful, thank you to Elly and her staff. After a walk along by the river no better place to stop for a rest, drink and refreshments. You can not beat the Rose & Crown. We will return soon.

You would have thought that she would have made the effort to get to know her locals, let’s face it they are her bread and butter!!! I have returned a couple of times since to try and support a local business but won’t be going again, the pub was nearly empty with no atmosphere and on my last visit had pipe cleaner in my beer !

Vile place and management. Only hospitable to people barred from the other pub in the village. Definitely a certain demographic. Landladies language is just as repulsive as the obvious drug use in the pub. Can’t recommend to stay away more.

Mum booked for 8 people to celebrate her 91st birthday. She was looking forward to having a lovely meal with her family , who had come from far and wide to spend the day with her. Table was booked for 2.30 We ordered and received drinks, then ordered food At 3.15 we asked how much longer the food would be ,and after checking, waitress said 10 minutes The 3 starters were served at 3.35, we asked if the main courses could be served to those who were not having a starter, we were informed yes they would be At 3.50 we were still waiting We were all shivering with cold as even though the radiators were warm it was still cold in the restaurant Mum at 91 was very cold and we were concerned for her We decided that we could not wait any longer , and informed the staff we were leaving We were told we could have the main courses for free as they were ready to be served, but we declined, as Mum was getting upset saying her birthday had been spoilt We paid for our drinks and starters and left Needless to say we will not be returning to or recommending this restaurant to anyone We went to a nearby chain pub , and had hot meals and drinks in a warm and friendly place, so Mum's birthday wasn't entirely ruined

We'd booked a table for Tuesday 5th for dinner, when we arrived doors were locked, we knocked & a young girl answered & said we're closed due to a power cut, sorry!! No phone call to say they were closed although they took the telephone number when booking, poor service!!!

Freshly revamped village pub. Good selection of drinks and a nice atmosphere. Dog friendly too! 👍

Rubbish. Beer awful, not much food choice and what we did want they had run out of. There was only 1 real ale on offer and the taste was totally non descript.

Landladies attitude towards her punters is appalling, very aggressive and rude not to mention unprofessional as she seemed to be drinking on the job. I won’t be back and I’ll stick to the manvers down the road .

Go to the pub and get charged £100 to park in the carpark a week later. Absolutely disgusting. Avoid at all cost.

Great food and great staff. 6 of us came for Sunday lunch and we couldn’t fault it in any way. They were fairly busy but the food still came out quick and was delicious. Would highly recommend

Came here yesterday to test the waters with the food as my daughter has multiple severe allergies. They went above and beyond to make sure her food was cooked seperate from everything else in the kitchen this took a little longer than a normal order but I was informed of this on ordering and it is to be expected when it is being cooked separately from ordered to eating they could not of done anymore I would definitely recommend here if you have allergies.

Celebrating a special little girl's christening. We went onto The Rose and Crown, where my niece had paid for a buffet. It was beautiful weather so the little children played in the pub garden. The food was good in quality, but there was far too little for the number of guests. I was expecting more food to be brought out, but no. The landlady was rude to my niece when she asked for more and then had the absolute cheek to ban her from the pub!! I will not recommend this establishment while that management team is running it. What a shame when we all want a great village pub to stay open.

Fantastic pub. Great food locally sourced and cooked fresh to order. Great selection of beers larger and wines. Ellie and her team are nothing but welcoming curtious and so friendly. We attended the Rose and Crown for a football presentation, service and staff were super friendly and helpful, lovely range of drinks and snacks. The owner Elly even got involved setting up games for the kids and put on food for them off her own back. Was an amazing night all round.

My self and our family of 21 people went for lunch we had superb quick service the food was exceptional the kids menu was a hit with the young ones too … the pub was clean it was cheerful and the staff are all lovely the new landlord and landlady are doing a great job we will be back .

This is the buffet that cost £300 ,this was for 50 people ,we did not bring more than agreed, land lady was not helpful and was extremely rude , her comments about damaged was false, I would love to see proof of them, just and excuse for her poor service

Absolutely wonderful pub, dog friendly which we love! Very friendly and helpful staff which is hard to come across these days I have noticed, the pub is very inviting with amazing food at brilliant prices! and the refurbishment is outstanding! I must say the new landlord & landlady - Ben & Elly have done a marvellous job.

Always come to this pub especially since being taken over. It's so relaxed and the atmosphere is top notch. Food is amazing!! The new landlady and landlord are an asset to cotgrave and the pub. I've also had an event held here and they went above and beyond for me and my party. I couldn't ask for anything better. The events she puts on are amazing and so cheap for what you get. I love coming here and so do all my family. A true family run pub with amazing staff and a one of a kind atmosphere. Also what can I say about the garden, stunning!!!! Absolutely awful service! Unfortunately I booked for an event to be held at the Rose and Crown in Cotgrave, worst decision I could have made. Catered for 50 people, but barely any food served. Luckily we have brought a cake with us to fill up on. Manager/land lady was not bothered at all and went out her way to avoid us all day. Incredible poor service, 50 very unhappy customers and 50 people that will probably never go back again. Avoid at all cost!!!

We attended as part of a family celebration for 50 people on Sunday.The bar ran out of soft drinks which was grossly understaffed , 30 minute queues and produced atrocious buffet food. Please avoid this pub. : it’s not centred on your experience. You are just cash, to be exploited and served when they choose. DO NOT HAVE FOOD HERE. We left and went to Sainsbury’s which was far better even eaten in the car. I hope the owner gives the host a refund for the food. If they don’t , it’s testament to a cash first pub.

It was a nightmare. The owner she was horrendous. She was drinking on job kept disappearing, she was aggressive. Rude. Made us feel unwelcome. The employees were amazing. But just the land lady. Definitely wouldn’t go back. Soo poor for a reopening of pub

Nice pub with a great interior and a generous sized outdoor space which is a sun trap!

After the scampering, the Rose and Crown closed down and remained closed until a refit and reopening just before Christmas 2022. We sampled it then and weren't impressed. We gave it another chance last Saturday and again yesterday. Sad to say, its not a great experience. The refit lost the carpeted sections to wooden floors that add a level of reverb to the ambient noise. It lacks a sense of warmth and there's no feeling or enthusiasm about the place. It's ordinary and as a lover of it before closure, I'm disappointed.

Waiting staff came across rude, on their phone behind the bar. No baby changing and even though they may not of been serving food, it came across more that she couldn't be bothered to go to the kitchen.

Just re-opened having been closed 2 years with new management. Tastefully refurbished by incorporating the rear room to be part of the lounge area. Good beer and tucker very friendly clientele not forgetting happy staff.

Staff are really friendly, Covid procedures are good without making you feel uncomfortable. Good selection of ales and ciders, particular love that they always have a good range of cornish ales and Rattler cider on tap. Also a fan of their take away pints!

Was stopping locally so called in on the basis of the reviews and due to it being dog friendly. The welcome and the food was excellent. The service started very well but sadly deteriorated once we got our main course (Had to ask for dessert menu and then they took quite a while to come). But all in all the food, price, welcome and ambience means we will certainly try it again when we are back in the area.
