The best restaurants serving American food in South East

I loves coming here for it's unique menu and cocktails. Having tried it now post-take over; the cocktails are still great (if basic) and the staff is as lovely as always. The menu is huge (never a good sign), it's no longer has the best fries to price ratio, and while I usually like the cosy cluttered approach, here is feels like it's been Instagram-ed. It's a shame, because Big Soc was a unique place, but now it's basic. I suspect part of the aim is to drive away old customers for younger ones though.

We use this restaurant regularly and this is the first time we have left feeling dissapointed. It was very busy and clearly not enough staff to deal with it. However we were waited on by a lovely man named Mohame. He did an amazing job as usual. BUT when the food arrived the battered crispy fish was totally soggy and not cooked properly. Also the mushy peas were extremely dry almost crusty. We showed Mohame and he apologised and offered to get another one or a different choice. Our friend chose a steak instead. However by the time the Steak arrived everyone else had finished their meals. Our friend who had eaten some of our chips etc really dident feel like eating and asked for a takeaway container. Our dissapointment came when the bill had charged for all four meals.To have served such a poor and unhealthy fish meal and ruining our evening, we feel the least they could have done was to not charge for the replacement meal. We love this restaurant and have never had a problem before, but now feel very let down. We acknowledge how busy they were but to serve such an unedible meal is no excuse. I have given this restaurant a lot of good reviews over the years but sadly can't do so this time. We have taken some photos but the system will not download them.

Myself and my boyfriend went here for our valentines meal. The meals were amazing, very tasty! Our waitress was Anna she was very busy but she delivered excellent service. Anna was lovely and very attentive and helpful throughout our visit. Would definitely come again especially with the outstanding service! Thank you Anna! You made our night!

Had an amazing experience. Went there for a work team even. Matt and Charlotte were amazing. Excellent service, had a great evening. Will definitely be visiting again.

Food was exceptional. Great tasting burgers with a wide range to choose from. Chicken was nice and crispy and had a kick to to it. The wait wasnt too bad The only comment was there was no follow up once we got the food.

My partner got us dubia chocolate, omg it is amazing I would 100% recommend 😍

New Management have completely turned this pub around, warm friendly and chatty staff. A lovely little new music venue that actually caters to young and old. They even offer vegan cocktails!!!! Was told by one of the new managers that live music is part of the new image now so will be back for their open mic for sure and their nachos topped off my night.

I was staying in the appartments next door to this Pub for the month of October. I was told not to Park in the Top House Car Park and indeed did not - as I didnt have a car with me! My family did on occasion drive into the entrace of the Car Park to pick me up - they didnt Park, turn the car engine off or get out of the car, They were stopped for about 90 seconds, On each occassion somone came ut of the pub and told them that we would be recieving a GBP100 fine for doing this. I had consided having dinner at the Pub while I was staying but because of this decided not.

fantastic food in this place lovely skotch burgers and fish and chips best ever highly reccomend to anyone this is without doubt the best fish and chip shop in the area or hard to believe anywhere better than this place

It was a wintry Valentines Day when I came in here for one for the road, as I was heading out. I had seen this retro diner-takeaway in passing, but never ventured in. I ordered a Blue Cheese Burger, fries and a tea. I was pleasantly surprised to find a hamburger in a generous bun that was more the size of a double than a single, with onions and lettuce and lashings of blue cheese relish. There could have been some juicy tomato, or ketchup with it, but it was still delicious. There were masses of chunky golden fries, not over or undercooked, just right. The lady behind the counter brought it to me to my table by the window, and didn’t even mind when I forgot and left behind the liqorice allsorts - did I say they do £1 bags of sweets as well? She said they would sort one out for me when I went back next time. Excellent service and this place seems popular with locals - a good sign. I recommend and will be back.

This used to be my favourite place to go for breakfast and I always recommend it to people. Amazing pancakes and great fried breakfast. Unfortunately I’m not sure what’s happened. We used to walk in be offered a table but no acknowledgement so we sat down and no one came over so I went to order the food at the counter. Firstly the pancakes had been taken off the menu which was very disappointing so we decided to go for the donut breakfast only to be told we couldn’t have that as they had no donuts??? We were in a donut shop and I could see donuts so I asked again and yes we couldn’t have it as there was no donuts. We decided to leave at that point I did email the company when I got home but got no reply.

Deepthi created the most amazing baby shower cake for us. With just a copy of our invite, she themed it perfectly. Everyone raved over how lovely it was. All our allergy and dietary needs were no problem and with her expert guidance we managed to safely transport it 70 miles away in one piece! I usually find vegan cakes a little dry, but this cake was really delicious and perfectly moist. Would 100% recommend.
