Went here for breakfast with a friend. Very friendly staff. Beautifully clean. Good menu range. Small breakfast good value - hot drink included in the price. Planning another visit with small group soon. Happy to recommend.

It was absolutely amazing, I was filled up and didn’t feel sick after it. I do recommend going there because it’s clean,hygenic and the food is fast. Even better it’s amazing customer service

10 para el desayuno tibio grasiento más desagradable de todos los tiempos. Las salchichas eran las más baratas de Islandia, medio tomate crudo, etc. Ingredientes de mala calidad arrojados sin amor en un plato. Nada que justifique el alto precio. ¡Le dio a la perra un poco de tocino y vomitó dos veces!

Vine el domingo con la familia a desayunar, era media tarde y no había muchos lugares abiertos, así que decidimos venir aquí. La primera impresión fue que estaba limpio y era una cafetería promedio, los precios eran razonables y el menú es un menú estándar de café, desde frituras hasta huevos Benedict y sándwiches de tocino. La comida no tardó mucho en salir, las papas fritas salieron juntas, no estaban exactamente calientes, solo tibias, el tocino estaba fibroso y parecía que apenas se había cocinado, los huevos estaban duros, a pesar de que se solicitó mocos y las croquetas de patata recién cocinadas, prefiero las mías crujientes. Mi prima ordenó huevos Benedict y tardó un poco más en salir, aunque parecía haberlo disfrutado. Aunque la comida estaba bien, el lugar hizo lo que necesitábamos, así que nos alegramos. No volvería personalmente aquí de inmediato, sin embargo, no volvería, quizás la próxima vez tenga algo más fuera del menú.

Pensamos que probaríamos un café local, una buena relación calidad-precio para el desayuno económico, tocino, salchichas, frijoles, champiñones, huevo, tomate fresco y pan tostado bien presentado y caliente, los dos bolsillos de huevo con pan tostado un poco exagerado con tres rebanadas de pan tostado grueso cada uno para él no tienen una máquina de café espresso profesional, por lo que el café con leche era un poco que desear, pero para dos comidas 2 bebidas calientes, todo por menos de diez dólares, obtienes lo que pagaste.

Not as good as used to be ,tinned tomatoes were very nearly puree ,the fried bread was swimming in cooking oil ,eggs were fine,bacon fine,sausages ok ,beans coffee all ok ,I think there are better cafes in Shirley

Be prepared for cold sausages cold bacon and they charge extra £1 for coffee which is supposed to be included in the set price!

you may find this a bit bias as i know the owner i’ve been eating neil’s food at his cafes for years he’s always done great food he’s one of these people who could make a bigger profit and use cheap produce but he won’t as he’s a great be leaver in repeat customers , if you’re after a small plate of food this isn’t the place for you as he only does big plates food is always fresh, i recommend that you give the retro a try if your in the area you won’t be let down by the food

Me and my fiance, visit the retro diner frequently, and the breakfast is the best, top quality products used and the price is really low. Staff are friendly and welcoming. The only downside is the coffee is instant and the water comes from a hot water urn, but otherwise I would highly recommend this cafe when your in Shirley. The credit crunch breakfast is only £2.95 with £1 for a hot drink. This breakfast is before 10.30 but if your on a low income, who can grumble, you couldn't go anywhere else for the same price and quality.

I’ve been here a few times and the food is always fab. Staff are friendly. An amazing hangover cure!

Excellent value with best ingredients. Most enjoyable. I would recommend this establishment. Good fresh decor. On street parking. All newspapers are provided as well as wifi. Cater for parties and groups as required. Staff are friendly and polite.

A proper diner serving huge, delicious breakfasts (watch out for the Big One). Good service and friendly staff. The only place I've been where I couldn't finish my meal. I just wish I could get there more often.

If you are looking for a full 8-item British breakfast, this is the place to come. The food is cooked up fresh and fast. The smoked bacon was very tasty. The retro decor is fascinating, and they even have copies of the Daily Star for your reading enjoyment. Price of full breakfast is just 5.95 GBP. Street parking is available.

Great food at the right price, staff always friendly and helpful. Just one moan, breakfast could be hotter some days.

Went for breakfast, the food was lovely, staff very friendly. Even put cbeebies on the telly for the children and gave them some sweets. Would highly recommend

I just finished my night shift and I arrived at the retro diner at 6:45am but found out they didn’t open till 7am but that wasn’t a problem the kind lady opened up the door and served me I ordered 2 bacon and egg rolls to go got them home and they were delicious also thanks for going the extra mile .

Vine a comprar dos desayunos para llevar en mi camino a casa después de un turno de noche. La comida estaba bien, pero como mencioné solo está bien, esto probablemente se deba a que es comida para llevar en vez de cenar, mi té estaba frío, no tibio, pero Frío como si la tetera no hubiera sido hervida, pero era barata, ¡recomendaría comer pero no quitar!

Saturday morning breakfast nice clean place but guy on the next table was shirtless he had a tshirt with him, really put myself and my partner off, I feel staff should have asked him to wear a shirt

Have been looking for a good cheap place for the odd fry up at the weekend and this fits the bill. Just good fry up in a clean environment at an excellent price

Dropped in here for a cuppa whilst house hunting in the area. We had three bacon sandwiches, two hot chocolates, a coffee and a tea for just over £11! This place is obviously popular with locals some of whom were eating enormous FULL english breakfasts.

Tomó mi padre n bro aquí un desayuno adecuado, cafetería El mes pasado! No hay cosas extrañas por una vez, plena en buena great brekkies! Estaba lleno, así que parece muy popular, parece que hacen una selección de almuerzos que parecía agradable, desayuno inglés era perfecto!

Good place to go for a mean fry up... Only issue is the choice of sausages are a bit cheap tasting however that's just my opinion. Staff lovely and even kindly covered a friends meal up and kept it warm as they were running late.

Choose to visit on a Sunday morning for breakfast as was staying locally.Staff were very polite, atmosphere was lovely and helped by Vespa enthusiasts meeting there prior to a road trip.Breakfast was gorgeous, piping hot, very reasonably priced and extremely generous portions.Give it a try, you will not be disappointed!

Went to the retro diner while on a break. A very clean astablishment, with kind helpful staff, ordered the full English which was amazing. The owner made me feel very welcome and had a little chat with me to make me feel right at home. A deffo must if your in the area. Outstanding!!!!

First time visit. So pleased we went. Can't believe we have lived within walking distance for 18 months without trying this place before. Great food. Really good prices. Clean and friendly atmosphere. Struggled to get a table it was so busy which is always a good sign. Will definitely go back!

Great full English breakfast in a nicely decorated friendly environment. Service really good and the value for money incredible.

Found a good review on TripAdvisor so I thought I would give it a go, not disappointed either, only bad point, not much on the menu, but the portion size makes up for it, I only had a bacon sandwich and the bacon was nice and crispy, just how I like it.

A very tasty breakfast at a reasonable price ,cafe clean and tidy food always nice and hot ,the mega breakfast keeps me going all day till tea time

Absolutely loved the atmosphere as well as lovely food at great prices ! Only ever been for breakfast and it hits the spot every time, the prices are so good for the amount and quality you get and staff are friendly too. We keep meaning to go back for lunch to try the baguettes or jacket spuds so watch this space. Also this place has the added bonus of all the beautiful scooters and retro bikes outside on a weekend.well worth a visit x

Brilliant cafe, nice decor, friendly staff & never had a bad breakfast yet & have been a few times now.

this a great cafe to eat if you like traditional english fayre huge meals great value for money.also use top quality sauces etc eat here and leave very well fed.

Have recently visited this establishment and decided to try their big un, must say I was not disappointed. This is without an amazing breakfast with quality ingredients. The service was excellent and the speed of service was truly great. Don't judge a book by its cover as this place is truly amazing.
