The best restaurants serving American food in East of England

We recently enjoyed a Saturday evening family meal at Netherton Steakhouse. The waiting staff were very welcoming. The food was excellent and we had various burgers, steak and macaroni cheese. All cooked beautifully and generous portions. We were sat next to the bar area and the staff constantly apologised for the noise, but this really didn't bother us and we didn't complain but even so we were given a couple of complimentary drinks - very nice touch - thank you. Look forward to revisiting in the summer when we can sit in the lovely garden area.

We visited here last year in 2024 and it was good so went again this weekend and was so disappointed. Because we have the dog we are put in the dog area (understandable) but you are forgotten about in there, the deliver your food and you dont see anyone again! We placed our order as you go to the other area to do that then walk back to the dog area. Husband had the cooked breakfast and I ordered scrambled egg on granary. His was just ok but mine was awful. Cold over toasted toast (burnt) with the worst scrambled egg I have ever seen. Im sure it was microwaved as was like rubber. It looked like it had been chucked on top of the toast with no care, so over cooked there was no moisture left it it. I also had pieces of bacon in it - from where I do not know but it is lucky im not vegetarian. Not the cafe fault but there was a woman with a dog in there and she let it keep going after a ball and going near our dog whilst we were trying to eat (cant be helped by cafe - just another annoyance as the room is not big so no where to move to). Shame but we wont go there again.

Absolutely love Gunslingers, had an amazing Steak before seeing Giovanni. It was cooked perfectly and served with a smile. Am a local and Gunslingers is great for the area...love it.

They have EVERYTHING! Seriously; certain import beers, liqueurs and harder to find items (like Frangelico, Allspice liqueur and more)!

Contrary to come recent poor attempts to besmugde this restaurant and its hard working staff and owners reputations, this is Downhams/ the whole areas premium restaurant, everything is cooked fresh and uses high quality local produce, the staff are always friendly, attentative, approachable and knowledgeable. The main menu is great but the Sunday roast goes to a whole new level, with fantastic locally sourced meats, fresh local veg, crisp and fluffy roast potatoes and the star of the show, their superb yorkshires, please don't believe the haters, haters will hate, this is a fantastic establishment and everytime I've eaten here it's been nothing short of 5 star.

We celebrated a significant birthday with friends with an Afternoon Tea. The tea itself was excellent as was the whole experience from arrival to the lovely waitress and reception. A really great package.

Went for breakfast. The picture in the window looked pretty good. When it arrived it was disappointing the fried eggs were really runny under cooked the sausages looked like road kill shriveled up and dry everything else was warm not hot Sent it back to kitchen. When it came back all they had done is kept the same eggs just turned them over and fried them a bit more until they were over cooked I can't comment on the coffee that I had ordered as it never arrived No wonder they take your money when you order Could not eat and left.

Not all that. Moody team, slow service and not so clean

First time here after reading reviews. Had Meaty Hummus started (shared) and mixed platter for two. Started was just so tasty and the lamb was so succulent. The mixed platter was just overwhelming. All the meats were cooked perfectly, the veg was just right. More hummus and thd bread ....... all just so nice. Can't believe we haven't been here before. The bottom end if town has a star restaurant right there 👍👍👍

Brilliant mix of music genres played every weekend to suit all likes, definitely great choice for group night out. Even during the week, it can fulfill your need for friendly atmosphere. Whether wanting to watch sports on TV, or just get together with mates for good drinks over game of pool or darts, or just to chill out

Can't fault this place, fabulous food & friendly staff. Highly recommend

Average review based on many visits - on a good day it’s a favourite of ours, particular the candied bacon burger. But last night was really poor. The chips tasted like burnt oil and were a grey/dark yellow colour. The wings were soggy and gross and the burger was really average. Hopefully just a bad day at the office.

Excellent food, service and atmosphere, my 10oz rump steak, was coked just how I like it, Blue and well seasoned. My wife had the classic beefburger which was delicious, sides of smashed new potatoes, onion rings and slaw were perfect.

Llamé para escapar del clima y tomar un café. Este restaurante estilo Vintage American Diner es una sorpresa encantadora para entrar, fuera del sombrío clima escocés! El personal era absolutamente encantador. Nuestros cafés eran de excelente calidad, servidos desde una máquina de café muy impresionante, que encajaba perfectamente con el tema American Diner. El ambiente era muy relajante y el servicio fabuloso. No probamos la comida, pero desearíamos haberla encontrado antes para que pudiéramos haberlo hecho!

Great food, great atmosphere and our server, Handy, was an absolute delight! She was polite, kind and really funny. She made our visit really enjoyable!
