Pre booked. As we walked in through the swing doors into the empty restaurant I wasn’t sure!! But it soon started to fill up. We had a friendly greeting and given a table. We ordered drinks & chose the rib eye steak, which came with a choice of fries or jacket. Staff were friendly and attentive & checked we were happy with our food. The steak was delicious & only £22 which is very good value. While eating another couple were sat next to us. Unfortunately where we were sat we felt the tables were far too close together !! The restaurant is in walking distance of the cliffs & ideal for a pre show. Also only a short walk to the railway station. I would definitely recommend a visit.

Supposed to be open until 21h00, when I arrived there was 18h30 was closed.

Love this place, still a hidden gem in Southend! Food was really good. I had the brisket nachos and skin on fries. Prices are low compared to other restaurants in town and atmosphere and decor of restaurant is great. Definitely a family friendly night out

Visited gunslingers prior to seeing a show at the Cliffs Pavilion. Loved the theme/decor and the ladies who served us were lovely, we both ordered burgers and they were amazing. 🍔 Didn’t get a chance to have deserts due to needing to get to our show, but will definitely be back. 👍🏼

Great little restaurant... I had one of the best burgers iv ever had.Would definitely recommend it, especially if you're going to The Cliffs Pavilion as it's right next door.

A great little diner that's predominantly used by people visiting the Cliffs Pavilion next door, before a show. Booking is essential, although there are 3 dining places (one either side) to choose from. Lovely food and friendly staff, although leave plenty of time for being served before your show starts.

Very open people and happy to talk about their menu. All food is cooked fresh and taste great.

After a birthday trip to see Cirque at The Cliffs Pavilion we booked Gunslingers. There were 2 other tables when they left it was very quiet. The food was delicious and service friendly. For a themed restaurant it would help if there was a bit of music and maybe an activity sheet for younger customers. I brought colouring sheets just in case. I would go again.

Went to watch Tom Allen. The trouble and strife said fancy a quick one here. Said ok then, why not, had a half hour to kill. Was met at the door,.asked for drinks only and they said no worries. We sat at the bar and ordered a wine and a JD and coke. They gave a bottle of pepsi, which was great. I put in too much,my fault. Finished and went. Job done. Would I pre-show JD here again? Yes mate.

Great location for a bite before a show at Cliffs Pavillion. Cowboy themed restaurant serving a variety of burgers. Burgers were good, good value for money, very reasonable. Staff were helpful and friendly. Catered for my Mum who has celiac disease, requiring a strict gluten-free diet.

I’ve been here 3 times over a period of a year. First with friends before going to cliffs then with my children.. tonight I met the chef the food was outstanding as has been the last times I visited. The young chef has the ability to want me to revisit very soon.. I strongly recommend this one of a kind quirky place… The staff are very pleasant and Welcoming!.

Fantastic meal fantastic staff the ribs are to die for and the burgers are gorgeous. The chicken starter is tasty and the sauce is very hot be warned. Drinks reasonable 3 course meal with drinks for 2 £80. Will definitely be visiting again.

Easily the best burger I have ever eaten. I have eaten lots of burger the US, Five Guys . More than I care to mention. The skin on fries were amazing. Service was excellent. Go there....do it. You won't be disappointed.

Great place for a pre show meal

We booked here last minute before going to the Cliffs Pavilion, The staff were very friendly, The table was initially dirty but was cleaned straight away & drinks order taken straight away. I had half a rack of ribs which were cooked to perfection & probably the best ribs I have ever had. My hubby had the The Famous Gunslinger burger which was enormous & he said it was delicious. I loved the interior decor & would definitely go back again.

Hadn't booked and was lucky......they had one spare table. Brilliant staff, couldn't have been more accommodating....and the burgers were delicious. Great atmosphere, too. Well worth a visit.

Went here before a show with my family.Enjoyed the food very much the staff are lovely.

After enjoying the food so much on our first visit here, we decided to go again after a show at The Cliffs Pavillion. I called in advance to book a table for two and let them know we were coming especially for their amazing ribs. However, we were bitterly disappointed the second time around. After being seated, we were told that no ribs were available today as the delivery had arrived late and they hadn't finished cooking yet. I asked how long they were likely to be because we might be able to wait. I was told they would not be available at all today. Therefore, we reluctantly ordered something else. My drink arrived, but my friend then had to wait about 20 minutes for hers (a glass of wine) after asking several times. The food arrived....it was ok, but nothing spectacular. We received no further service or checks at all from the waitress throughout the meal. Just as I finished, I saw a plate of ribs being taken to another customer. When I mentioned this to the waitress, she said they were ready after all. Despite expressing my disappointment and the fact I had been prepared to wait, she did not seem to care and said next time, pre-order when you book and they should be available then. I told her I had done that this time, but she just shrugged and said "Oh, well it wasn't written by your booking." We asked for the bill 4 times, and it finally arrived about 30 minutes after the first time we asked. We were so fed up by then we just paid it and left. It wasn't until I got home that I noticed a service charge had been added! We hadn't been told this would be added, and given the poor service, definitely would not have chosen to leave it, and if I'd noticed it, would have insisted it was removed. And after the rib fiasco, I can't believe they didn't remove it automatically as a matter of courtesy! It's a shame because the ribs really are delicious when available and are what would draw people back for another visit, but the awful service and lack of care on our second visit has really put me off going again. It wouldn't take much....some good manners and a smile from the staff would make all the difference to the overall experience.

Visited Gunslingers before going to the Cliffs Pavilion for a show. The staff were friendly and polite and the service was good. The food came out quite quickly, which is good when you are pre show dining. The food itself was ok, but the boneless chicken wings could have been hotter and for me I found the campfire chilli a bit bland and the amount of chilli a bit small. Overall the experience was fine for pre show dining and I will visit again.

We had a lovely meal here (table of 4) before heading to the matinee at the cliffs. The service was great, food arrived quickly but with a nice break between courses. The staff were friendly and the atmosphere was great. The food was delicious. I had the boneless wings, followed by the Beef Brisket which was lovely. My sister ordered steak and asked for rare, it was cooked to perfection! Will certainly be back again.

Come to Gunslingers last night for a pre show meal before the pantomime and I have never been so impressed before. I had the ribs and they are to die for, the burgers are just spot on says my wife and the cod which our kids had was fresh and crispy! The whole family really enjoyed it and to top it off with the kids ice creams they decorated the way they wanted which kept them entertained. Staff are so lovely, clearly very good chefs in the kitchen. 10/10! Was not expecting to see negative feedback on here at all, I guess you can’t please everyone.

Went there last night with the family before a show. Was looking forward to fish and chips at the place next door but that was full up. So had fish and chips at the gunslingers. The staff are lovely. The setting is unusual. The food was mediocre. Fish and chips was cheap frozen chips nothing special. The fish wasn't brilliant at all. We did eat our food so didn't feel the need to complain. Also a gratuity was added to the bill. You always feel awkward asking for it to be removed so it stayed on. All in all it was a 5/10. But we was full.

We booked a table pre panto show , and what chaos. Sat at a table, which was unclean, rectified, unhelpful and fed up waitress took orders and drinks arrived. We booked here because of there pre theatre dinner offer, close to theatre and speed of service. Meals arrived 50 minutes after ordering, and after three prompts from ourselves, only when I told them to cancel they miraculously appeared. No apology, again, awful service. Ribs were average, slightly burnt, chips dreadful, burger greasy. We had no time to send back because of the show start time. Others diners also complaining. Overall, food quality and service were very bad, and no apology for the tardy service and late arrival of food. Will book elsewhere when we are back next month fir another show.

Gotta say it was our first time eating here and I have to say the staff were great and polite but unfortunately the food does not match the settings nor its price tag - I had the gunslingers burger and it came with a standard seeded bun not what it’s supposed to have - the burgers tasted like they were cooked in old fat and the overall meals were all below par - for the price tag I was expecting better - the food was basic to say the least - Only went here because I see some nice reviews but I was sadly very disappointed maybe the cook has changed or they have cut back due to bills getting higher but If your paying 17.95 for a burger you hope it tastes better then you can get from a burger van —

This place was excellent, the food was excellent, I had the most delicious ribs, intact the best ribs I've had ever, and I have eaten a lot of ribs,staff couldn't do enough to make your dining experience the best

Absolutely loved the food, staff was extremely friendly. I booked the restaurant to have lunch before a performance at the Cliffs Pavilion, worked out brilliantly. A great lunch then a 1 minute walk. Highly recommend. This has been recently decorated, love the atmosphere, it would be ideal to hire as a party venue.

Great place for a pre Cliffs show... Such a friendly atmosphere and the staff were very helpful... Will be going back... If you want to eat I would advise booking a table on a show night as it was nicely busy 👍

Plenty of staff who were friendly and efficient.We hadn't booked but they squeezed us in for a pre show meal at the cliffs pavilion. It was very popular re food and proximity to the theatre Small menu but a good choice of food and a small bar area where you could sit before or after your mea.(,but not if you are out just having a drink)

Had a few problems booking our table for six. Booked via phone after they said they'd call back to take our booking. Double checked a few days later, and they knew nothing about us. They booked us in. Phoned again on the day just to triple check, and they knew nothing about us AGAIN. So yet again they booked us in. On turning up however, staff were pleasant and food was fine. They're geared up for pre-show meals due to the Cliffs Pavillion Theatre being right next door, so if you're going to see a show there you're always finished dining in good time. I'd eat there again.

Stopped off for a last minute meal before a trip to the cliffs Pavillion for a show. The bar gets quite busy so best to arrive earlier than you need. Food quality very good and large portions if you go for the bigger burden. Prices for the location not too bad, but expect to pay around ten pounds for a meal for one.
