Mariner Court in Southend-on-Sea

I’m not sure why this place gets some bad reviews as I think it’s great…terrific food and nice atmosphere. We went on a really busy day and had to wait a while, but the staff kept us informed along the way about how long we could expect to wait, thereby leaving the decision on whether to stay or go elsewhere. Brilliant food, excellent service and good atmosphere. What’s not to like?

I actually went because I had a coupon for 2 to use, which was expiring on that day. I thought it wont be honoured sincerely, but I was wrong, we also felt food would be small so we ordered some other things outside the coupon as well, I was so wrong, I ended up with a full belly. Their food, servie and quality is excellent!

Music so loud couldn't hold any sort of conversation. People on table next to me said same. They got up and walked out. Food- bangers and mash..average, little taste, £14!! Never again

Great local pub in Leigh Broadway, friendly, polite, and jolly staff, quick service, great atmosphere. Extensive menu, with single meals, and ones to share. We had a share of breaded chicken strips, chicken wings, fries, onion rings, and garlic bread, and a side of halloumi fries. Would definitely recommend

Terrible service and unprofessional. Treated us with awful manners. The manager definitely has some sort of power trip. Me and my husband and a friend arrived there last night after a few drinks somewhere else. My friend and husband were at the bar and our friend showed Christmas balls in his pocket as a joke (which we didn’t steal from the property - it was our properly from home) The security saw and accused him of stealing. With no prove where the balls came from. I’ve asked to speak to the manager. I told him we just got here. Get cctv up because it’s awful to make assumptions and confiscated our properties. The manager told me he doesn’t have time to look at cctv I told him it won’t even take a minute to look because we arrived there only 15 minutes prior. He then replied “don’t have time. You guys don’t have to drink in here either” Awful manners. If they check back on cctv they will have the evidence that they stole our properties. Disgusting. Such a shame since a large group of us live nearly. Won’t be going back. You have lost a lot of customers from an awful assumption and stealing from us. Didn’t have a leg to stand on why our friend was being kicked out. “He stole the Christmas balls or he was too drunk” Which is it? When your accusation couldn’t stand when I brought up cctv he accused him of being too drunk. Majority of the people in there were drunk. Even a few people came out and said to us that most people being treated poorly in there before. Not professional at all

Nice cosy pub, selling some nice beers, didn't stay long was only a quick drink, didn't eat as was going out elsewhere.

A really nice shop! Of which there are quite a few in Leigh, particularly in OldLeigh

We went to leigh-on-sea for the Christmas market and then wandered into town. After going into the first pub , they didn’t serve food so thank goodness we went to the next one and boy so glad we did! Staff were so friendly, the burger and chips was insanely good and the bar was cosy and festive. Loads of room and all different groups of people in there. Highly recommend we could have stayed all day . Thank you!

Great place, v friendly, and with a v nice landlord who oversees the happiness without ever being obtrusive. Always feel v welcomed here.

Popped in for a quick drink before dinner on a Friday night. It was very very busy! Having said that, I was served quickly. Drinks were reasonable value. Despite the crowd, the venue was very clean. I did, just about, manage to get a seat. It was loud as there was live music, so if you want a quiet Friday night drink, think again! But on the whole atmosphere and service was great. I have read that they are Dog Friendly, but I would not suggest bringing your pups at 630 on a Friday as their paws are likely to be trod on. Would return!

The drinks are a bit pricey but the service was excellent and the property was very clean

Took my parents back in May 2022...We all agreed the food the service and the atmosphere was amazing...And we are looking forward to our return in November this year....Friends of our family have also been and highly recommend Mariners court.

Staff are amazing! Food is fantastic cannot complain about anything. Will be coming back soon!

Nice pub, lots of TVs, spaceous and open. Not strictly dog friendly but happy to allow them if you keep to the hard wood side of the pub.

Late breakfast laid on especially for people to watch the women's world cup and a lovely cup of coffee.

Stopped for lunch today our first visit. Very nice refurbishment love the chairs. Had a very nice delicious lunch will definitely be back, lovely girl behind the bar very helpful and friendly 😊

Lovely decorated pub with seating outside the front. Good selection of drinks and cocktails. Staff were friendly too! Will be back!

Not been in here for years as it was not the most appealing place, we walk past it all the time and pass it by, but now its turned a new leaf, a full refit, totally the opposite from what it was previously, spotless inside, decor is quality, food very good, service to match, so now we can visit regular as we are local. 5 out of 5.

Just reopened and refurbished, seems nice but that was a Tuesday night.

I have been to mariners many times before the refurbishment that have just finished. This has given it a new lease of life and is now a fantastic venue that caters for all. The staff have always been of the highest standards. The new menu is very reasonable price with a high execution I have now eaten there the last 2 days and can highly recommend the chicken Kiev and the trio roast. If you want a garentueed fantastic time eating or drinking I can't recommend more.

Stopped in for a pint and a bite to eat...pint was cold and the food was hot and delicious. Nice friendly staff and the premises very clean. Worth the stop!

I took my two young granddaughters for lunch, food was really good, lovely choices on children's menu, food was excellent, staff were warm and accommodating.

So the staff serve a short pint and then refused to do a top up as they had pulled the pint.

Lovely to sit outside and enjoy a drink, the flowers/ hanging baskets looked spectacular. Didn't have anything to eat so can't comment on that, but the toilets were clean.

Would definitely eat here again was in a hurry spoke to manager to see how long food would before ordering as daughter was in a show so needed to be back quickly, the manager was very good and sorted it that food would come fast,when arrived was lovely and hot and very tasty

Typical bar really, can get a rough crowd at times. Drinks are reasonable priced. A place for pre drinks early on.

We go here at least once a week mainly on a Saturday or For Sunday Lunch. Great pub, great atmosphere, friendly staff, clean tidy, DOG FRIENDLY FAMILY FRIENDLY. good range of ales, larger, cider and all top shelf needs, from what I have experienced food wise its been top notch pub grub. Alfresco seating to side and front of building. Has Sky sports BT Sports for all sporting events

We had a surprise family lunch booked at the restaurant next door and decided that everyone should meet at the Mariners beforehand, and I am so glad we did. The staff at Mariners were brilliant; they had no idea 30 of us would turn up unannounced. They were so accommodating and happy to please. Thank you team, you made our day

Vomiting and diarrhea 20 minutes after eating here. Felt fine all day before hand.

Would highly recommend the hanging kebabs. In my humble opinion - - a great meal that hits the spot, whilst at a decent price.

I like this pub, the food is really nice, staff are really friendly and there are plenty of screens to watch the footy but the bouncer has a massive God complex. I will always give someone the benefit of the doubt, you never know what is going on in someone's life, so I was in two minds about whether to write this review but having visited this establishment many times recently, I can see that this is just the way he is. The guy is drunk with power, quite aggressive and walks around like he owns the place. He's extremely curt and it's almost like you are a massive inconvenience if you wish to go inside the (or as I'm sure he thinks, his) pub. Given that the God Bouncer is going to be your first experience of the pub, surely you'd want him to be a little more welcoming and a little less angry.

Had a recent visit and was very impressed with the friendliness of the staff and the COVID safety setup. Food and drink was really good. As an added bonus the pub is dog friendly so we didn’t have to sit outside with our puppy.

A very unpleasant experience. It's like walking into a school dinner hall of 500 sreaming kids on Red Bull! Aggressive, loud, scary faced guys all with similar hairstyles and clothes all trying to look as intimidating as possible.

Very noisy male builders type of pub. Don't go with your family! The food generally is ok but the regulars don't help the pub gain new customers. The coked up drunken blokes dominate the atmosphere with their shouting.

We visited the restaurant on Tuesday 17th for my birthday and from start to finish, the evening was brilliant. Our server Olivia was absolutely fantastic, she went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and she was so friendly and attentive all evening. The food was excellent, the drinks came quickly and myself and my family all had a lovely evening. However, special mention again must go to Olivia, she’s absolutely lovely and everyone at the table- including my beloved miniature schnauzer- absolutely loved her! We will definitely be back 😊

Very rowdy.. swearing . Bad atmosphere

Hi 4 friends went to Mariner Court for our Christmas Meal-3 courses for £21.95. Lovely starters-2 of had the delicious duck rillette & the humous & salmon were also enjoyed. The sea bass with colcannon & vegetables was excellent & our friend liked her porcetta meal. Tasty puddings & a very polite friendly waitress We even had crackers. I would definitely recommend the food

Our group of 11 went for Christmas Lunch, could not find fault with anything, had a wide range of different food all excellent. We had a warm welcome from all the Girls. Thanks, Mariners, a good time was had by all.

People tend to be quite aggressive

Had a lovely meal today for hubby's birthday good service and very reasonably priced

In particular one bar person a blonde girl we found to be very ignorant and rude for example insisted we move to where she was standing to be served she was too lazy to move 5 mins later when a group of girls came in she was up this end of bar in disgust we just left

👍 bit pricey with beer compared to half price at the Broadway only 5 mins walk away

I visited here for a friends birthday in a large group. A lady behind the bar either called Joanne or Joanna (sorry I can’t remember exactly) was amazing, friendly and made us all feel welcome. She was very efficient behind the bar and would like her to know that her hard work is great

Nice, well-priced meals and drinks, friendly staff, music at a good chat-friendly volume. Dog-friendly, too, which is great except, but disappointing that the dog families have to sit with the smokers.

Visited yesterday afternoon for lunch. Both me and my friend had 2 great fish starters, followed by the slow cooked pork belly, which was the best we have ever eaten. We could have eaten it again if we hadn’t been full up. I always have a desert but in this instance I didn’t have room. The staff we very friendly. Will be back very soon.

People scream and shout in here, think some get too excited after a few drinks, and the background music adds to the loud atmos, note the 275ml bottles charged at FULL pricing £4.40 of the standard 330ml, guess if your on a girls/boys night and want to shout instead of talk and don't mind paying top price for the privilege in grubby surroundings (needs a very deep clean or re-fit) then your in luck.

I cannot believe the measly portion of food I was served, I have seen bigger childrens portions!! And it cost £9.50! I was with a friend I hadn't seen for a while and felt very embarrassed at the situation. I would not recommend lunch at Mariners Court.

Ok spoilt by foul mouthed loud drunk 3 middle aged men! Bar staff too young anyone a tad older would have told them to tone it down.

The best pork belly and hunters chicken in the area! Value for money & excellent quality & service without needing the ‘in’ factor for LEIGH on sea . Chefs John & Mo are worth their pay. Good that they welcome dogs & pushchairs too without encroaching on the couple & friends atmosphere .

Enjoyed a delicious lunch here with the family. It was a sunny Sunday and whilst the football on the screens wasn't to my liking (but enjoyed by 3 other members of my family!), service was prompt and really friendly. The food looked amazing when it arrived at the table (trendy boards and cute mini chip fry baskets) and there was LOADS of it! Every member of our party of 8 enjoyed their meal and would recommend The Mariners to friends and family. The Moules were particularly delicious! The food was excellent value for money. With plenty of drinks too, the bill came to approximately £20 a head! Definetly pay this place a visit!
