Ogilvie's Grill House in Suffolk Coastal

The service and overall quality of this restaurant made for a great dining experience. Our group of golfers will definitely return.

Fabulous place to stay for a couple of nights and play a superb golf course , also nice walks to be had around the meagre.

We had a delightful lunch at Ogilvies. The staff are extremely professional and friendly. The roast beef was absolutely delicious, vegetables cooked perfectly and the gravy was full of flavour.

A couple. Would not recommend for couples. Food excellent but service poor notably because restaurant allows big groups of golfers to dine at same time. Groups frequently loud and impacting atmosphere. Better staggering of these groups- eating times suggested to improve service and atmosphere.

We were a large family group staying in Thorpeness for the weekend and came across a recommendation for Ogilvie’s restaurant at the golf and country club. We all had the Sunday roast dinners and we were all so impressed! The food was amazing and great value for money. The beef and pork were cooked to perfection and the Yorkshire puddings were enormous! The staff were all very welcoming and friendly and service was brilliant. We would definitely recommend to others and hopefully will visit again one day!

Was staying in Thorpeness. Visit for an evening meal. Very warm welcome. Food was good. Starters smoked chicken & whipped ricotta , very tasty and lovely fresh taste. 1 salt & pepper calamari, good,1 pate very nice. 3 of us had duck and 1 fish stew. Duck was cooked well apart from skin could have been crispier. Fish stew was rather a large portion but very tasty. Too full for puds! Service was excellent by everyone. However it is a golf hotel so as large groups from societies staying did get a bit loud (especially after England one footie match!) however staff had let us know and worked hard to make sure it didn’t impact on the service to us.

Great service, really good, well presented food with the bonus of exceptional panoramic views of the golf course. This restaurant has stepped up a gear. Will definitely book again soon.

We were a little apprehensive about booking an overnight stay at a Golf Hotel but we actually had a great stay. Staff, hotel facilities and meals were all excellent. The Golfers too were all great company in the bar and the restaurant too.

As it was a busy night in the restaurant I could not fault the food or the presentation both were excellent for all three courses.

My first trip back to the hotel for four years & pleased to say it's the same great value for money as it's ever been. Dinner & breakfast were excellent & perfectly complimented our weekends golf. Looking forward to returning in the Spring

The staff were very friendly and efficient, and versatile when one young staff member repaired a wonky table in the restaurant, very versatile.

I must be honest I didn't really want to leave a review because I don't want too many people to find this wonderful place. The Staff, the rooms, the golf and the dinning experience for us is always exceptional. If we lived closer we would go more often.

The selection of food was poor in taste, quality, price and appearance. Serving fruit scones in the plastic bag that they were purchased in rather than homemade was terrible and no clotted cream either. The cake selection was limited, stale and again tasteless. The waitress was lovely, the restaurant looked lovely but we would not return.

Great service, friendly and attentive staff, very welcoming. Super food and a pleasant atmosphere to sit and dine in.

22 friends from Littlestone went very recently. The food was of the very highest standard with some extremely interesting dishes on the evening menu with an excellent choice for breakfast as well. I would highly recommend this venue particularly from the food point of view.

Very bland food from a limited menu. We were served in a hurry due to a group of 30 expected. Staff too busy to take our payment and we were sent to the bar (another room) and then explain we wanted to pay.

Stayed at golf course hotel bed and breakfast basis ... we had very nice evening meal at Ogilvies .. crab starter then Burger and fry’s salad..all very tasty.. covid rules well organised so we felt safe ... unfortunately Breakfast was a bit of a muddle......

We played golf at Thorpeness golf club and a good breakfast I’m the bar before golf and than had a really nice Sunday lunch with all the family ten of us in total food was great and service excellent

The food was nice but service wasn’t. I asked for a elderflower and the staff member just said ‘we don’t have that ‘ , no offer to go and see what else there was , no drinks menu on table either.We had several individual couples within our party and when it came to paying we decided just to pay for what we had had. The staff then split the bill equally but it worked out that I would pay £30 for my 5 year olds main meal! We then discovered they had also added an extra £10-15 on everyone’s bill mounting up to quite a bit. We asked them to sort it and after 20 minutes we got fed up and just went to the bar and told them what we were paying for. This place looks special from the outside but that’s about it.

We were allowed to have the restaurant menu in the golf bar (as we wanted to have our dog with us) excellent steaks and a decent variety of starters . The food was well prepared and the staff very attentive .

Visited for the first time yesterday, absolutely wonderful food; beautifully cooked and served. Very good selection of steaks available and very generous portions of food. A special mention for the waiter who was absolutely superb and looked after us exceedingly well, nothing was too much trouble. We will return

We paid a visit to Thorpeness Golf Club whilst we were on holiday in Sizewell (Beachview Caravan Park) we didn’t know what to expect as Ogilvies hasn’t got many reviews as yet. No need to worry though as I’m sure excellent reviews will be coming soon, as the service and quality of food is excellent. Large portions and good value for money. My wife said her fish and chips were amazing. If in the area and looking for somewhere to have breakfast, lunch or tea definitely give this place a go. You’ll not be disappointed.

Very nice venue with friendly staff, good food and the prices were very reasonable. Eight of us went and we ALL had a good time.

The restaurant is pretty basic, the food choices are OK. All of our food was prepared fresh .and served with a smile. The vegetables were all over cooked. The presentation was very basic. Not a bad wine list reasonable prices. Not a place for a special occasion.

Myself and 3 other went to Ogilvie's last night and I have to say it was amazing! Sat at the bar first, to be served by a friendly bar man a nice G&T; in the big glasses! Great atmosphere in the bar. Then got called to the table when they were ready for us to be shown the amazing menu. We had 3 steaks (rump, rib-eye, and a fillet), all were cooked to how we ordered and tasted amazing! The sides were also very tasty! My partner had the rack of ribs and they were a show case when they were put on the table! Staff were very friendly and were very helpful when we wanted to order extra sides half way through our meal. All in all - a great dinner! Would 100% return!

No change in the menu as in previous visits, surgarge for steak. You have to like fish or chicken, no pork on the menu
