TGI Friday's in Braintree

Again great experience at braintree TGI and served by the amazing mandy. Service as spot on as usual cantvwait until next time 😁

Waited ages to be seen, sat outside told no table service which was fine, tried to order at the bar and had to wait ages and then be asked to order at another til had to wait there. Waited 25 minutes for two desserts and a cup of tea, when I went in to chase it I was told that the waiters weren’t aware of my order , as it was cold it didn’t go through the kitchen and they’d bring it out. Another 10 minutes later someone comes to tell me they had run out of the dessert I ordered. Cup of tea turned up In a dirty cup and when I asked for milk served on the side in a shot glass. Very disappointed and I left without said dessert or cup of tea. Warned that my refund might not go through so to keep an eye and chase the restaurant if it doesn’t go through!!

Took ages to take our order so had to try and get someone’s attention (wasn’t overly busy) when our order finally came the portion sizes were really small considering it’s £18 for a burger! So overpriced for a burger I could get nicer and cheaper at McDonald’s. The chicken had a funny taste to it & my sons kids hotdog came in a normal burger bun, no big issue but they also didn’t have much left in terms of the kids menu. When I asked for sauces I got ignored to had to try and get some else’s attention. We wanted to take advantage of the kids eat free but they really should rename it ‘kid eats free’ as it’s only one child per member. They said if my husband got the app then we could get another child meal free but this could take up to 10 minutes to come through. As we were late to collect someone from stansted at this point because the service was so slow we left it and just paid for my other child. Won’t be returning.

There was no evidence of any grown-ups on the staff when I visited. Our table resembled a student canteen. The order taking was chaotic. The food poor quality and badly cooked eg my rare steak was grisly and cooked medium. Another guest was told that the pasta dish had only a hint of cheese when it arrived it resembled a fondue. Another requested no cheese on his smashed burger and it was served with cheese. There was no coffee available as the machine was broken. The music was from a Donald Trump rally playlist. Not a good night apart from the fantastic company!

Upon arrival we waited at the desk for at least 15 minutes before anyone acknowledged us. We were seated and given menus and ordered drinks. We waited 30 minutes for our drinks. When I asked the waitress why the drinks were taking so long she replied there was only 1 person behind the bar and she had a string of orders and was working through them as quickly as she could. She did apologise for the wait. After another half an hour wait our food arrived, which was, at best, very average and absolutely not worth the wait. The restaurant needed a good clean , floors and table sticky. Lots of uncleared tables. Floor in ladies toilets again very sticky. Overall it was a very poor experience. The restaurant was clearly very understaffed. Waitress did keep apologising. I will never return to this place again.

Booked in for dinner tonight on the app which is simple. The food was good and the service was excellent. Mandy was out server and she was very attentive. Kids eat free at the moment too so an extra bonus.

We decided to pop here or our way home from a fab shopping trip. My friend had never been before, so we went on my recommendation. We ordered drink Coke Zero refills, and they tasted horrible. We sent them back and got replacement, we shared nachos, and they were ok. We waited and waited for well over 30 mins for our mains, had another lot of drinks, and had to send them back again. Food finally came out luke warm. They used the wrong pasta used macaroni pasta instead of normal pasta, and it was all rubbery. We then tried the drinks again, and they were still horrible, leaving a nasty after taste in your month. We told a waiter we did not want our food as it was cold and rubbery, and he got the manager who offered to get us bottled coke. We declined the offer and asked for the bill telling them we would only be paying for the nachos. I have been a few times to TGI, never again, overpriced and cold food. We went to McDonalds in then and was hot and edible.

We had the best service from Mandy, food and drinks were brought very quickly, colouring for the kids, Mandy showed us the app and discounts we could have via the app. Clean restaurant, friendly service, great food 😍

We came for my husbands 30th birthday as TGI’s is known for delivering the best birthday meal experience with singing happy birthday as well as their lovely meals ( although I do miss the old menu) unfortunately the restaurant had a issue in the kitchen and a member of staff had to go home so they were short staffed, we did have to wait a while for our starters but our waitress Betsy handled the pressure very well, there were 12 of us including children so I appreciate larger groups can be harder to handle, our mains came soon after our starters followed by the staff singing the famous birthday song, overall it was good experience, the manager was very professional and had great customer service too.

Great place for lunch. Not too busy, fast service from Mandy who was great! Definitely coming here again! I had the sesame chicken strips and the rest of my party had the glazed chicken burger. All of it was well cooked and tasted great

Normally love coming to TGI’s but seems to have gone downhill. Food is now very overpriced for what you get. One of the meals we got (chicken strips) looked like a child’s meal. Cocktails were not the best. Waited over an hour for food to come out and not once asked if wanted more drinks. Ordered more drinks with the food but came out after finished eating. My drink never turned up and when I questioned it they said they had run out of passion fruit! If I hadn’t questioned it they would have not bothered telling me. Ladies toilets were out of use and told to use disabled, was very dirty and the door lock/handle was hanging off. The staff were friendly. We asked to speak to the manager and he explained why it was so bad that evening. We understood and did compensate us. One other thing it was my husband’s 40th birthday which I put it was a birthday on booking. Normally you get the balloon hats and a happy birthday song. Didn’t do this at all anymore which is disappointing I felt that made TGI’s stand out from other places. Hope to see an improvement in the future.

We came to TGI for the bottomless brunch and were looked after by Mandy. We had a great time, the food was great and the service even better. Mandy was very attentive, helpful and made great recommendations. We will definitely be coming back. Thank you!

Considering there were more of us (4 adults 2 children) than staff, service was v slow. Food was average at best & just about warm enough - I wouldn’t say it was great value for money. Cutlery & glasses were not v clean. The disabled toilet was quite smelly, rather dated, & not v clean. Young lad serving was pleasant & helpful enough.

We came for a dinner and was served very quickly and professionally by Betsy. The drinks and great and with the speed of service, no complaints.

We visited for a birthday, our food came out cold and we had to send it back, the kitchen was prepping food which sat for 20+ mins while who I assume was the manager stood on her phone texting. I saw about 4 tables send their food back while we were there. A couple of the servers were trying their best but there was zero leadership and little enthusiasm. It’s a real shame but TGI’s has really gone down hill in recent years while their prices go up. I have no problem at all paying for good food and good service. The servers did their best to claw it back with a happy birthday song at the end, the duty manager there needs a bit of a retrain I think.

Good afternoon, We have just returned from Braintree Freeport TGI Fridays where I am beyond belief at the quality of the food you are serving and the prices you are charging. I will take my complaint in order and I expect a response before moving to trip advisor. 1. I have enclosed two photographs. One is of the size of the chicken in my son’s chicken burger. The other is an adult chicken burger. The quality and size of this supposed breast of chicken is beyond belief. It is the smallest chicken breast I have ever come across and in fact my sons was cut in half so all he had for dinner was a bread roll and chips. Thank fully that was taken off the bill. I requested that mine was taken off the bill to be told that it would not be as I had eaten half of it. In short I was charged almost twenty pounds for a bread roll and chips. 2. My second point is with your staff. Clearly they do not care about service or customer satisfaction. They could not have cared less. When I raised my complaint I was offered an extra breast of chicken. I declined for the simple reason if that was the normal portion then what was the point. I asked for the general managers name and this was declined to be given to me without their consent and the Duty manager would not provide her name. When I pressed on this she told me I was on private property and that she would call the police. I would like to add at no point had I been told to leave. As I lawyer I am well aware that if told to leave my licence to enter the premises would have been revoked. This was not the case. I am astounded by this behaviour of a manager of people of which I am and would never employ such a person within my business. She was obnoxious and rude and disappeared during my complaint. Probably to call the police. Unfortunately for this so called manager her staff were happy to give me her name. Olivia was unkempt with greasy hair and dog hair all over her work uniform. This sort of look really should not be customer facing. 3. The cleanliness was appalling. The tables were dirty and the floor was covered in other people’s food. I am absolutely disgusted with how my family and I have been treated today. Prior to this we were having a really lovely day. I will not be leaving this here. It is not acceptable in this day and age to be treated in this way and with the cost of living crisis to serve people with such poor food and service and expect for it to be accepted. Emily was amazing! Such a beautiful soul and great customer service. Our food was nice and the atmosphere was lively and cheerful. We got the ribs and the quesadilla and both were delicious.

TGI Fridays never disappoints! Been coming here for years and the food is always great. Food generally arrives fairly quickly, today especially. The waiters are always lovely!

Very disappointing over priced meal. First time visiting this restaurant in over 5 years. I ordered "Steak Frites. £24.80. 8oz rump steak. Seasoned with steak rub and flamed grilled to your liking. Served with a grilled tomato, flat cap mushrooms, house fries and garlic butter....

Jack was an amazing server, nothing too much trouble and very attentive. Fast service, food was okay drinks were fun. Bit of an issue with one bar lady who had a chip on her shoulder but management sorted it quickly! Jack needs a raise
