We hadn’t been here for a long time (pre-pandemic). However, we were looking for somewhere for an unplanned family meal and this seemed perfect. The service was excellent. We can’t fault it, really family friendly, kind and attentive. The food was shockingly bad. We wondered whether it had been taken over (the interior has changed) or a sign of cost cutting in a terrible financial climate especially for hospitality. But it was enough for us not to return, sadly. The Mac and Cheese was tasteless gloop. The chicken burger was so deep friend there was no chicken left. It was served in a cold bun, one leaf of lettuce, and a squirt of mayo. The chips were drenched in grease as were the onion rings (which incidentally suffered the same fate as the chicken). All in all, we left feeling we’d had several plates of batter and little else. It’s so sad to see where Captain America’s has ended up. We hope it can bounce back before losing customers who remembered how it used to be.

We went today and my son chose my free birthday doughnut. We were served by two very friendly young ladies. On the train home my son went to eat his treat and what a wonderful surprise. Thank you so much, completely unexpected

Eww, waitress couldn’t even be bothered to wipe the table. Ordered a “American burger” came with 15 chips! & I’m not joking, the burger was nothing special either, no coleslaw or salad to accompany it. You get more at McDonald’s which is right next door!!

Order a mother fupper and spicy fries and it was great … a bit messy, but decent burger which it should be for £12. It’s moved now and isn’t at the Dog House.

I went to this restaurant today at 23:27, even though their listed closing time was 00:00. When I walked in, there were two staff members, and one rudely said, "What are you doing? We are going to close. Didn’t you see we mopped the floor?" First of all, there was NO sign board indicating a wet floor. Second, if you’re open until midnight, why are you acting like customers are a problem? When I pointed this out, they didn’t even apologize. Instead, one of them just asked, "What do you want to order?" If you’re closing, why ask me that? The whole experience was confusing and unprofessional. To the restaurant management: If you’re closing early, lock the door. If the floor is wet, put a sign board. If you stop taking orders before closing, make that clear. And most importantly, teach your staff basic manners—a simple apology goes a long way. Would NOT recommend. Avoid this place!
