First time we've been in pub for years and surprised at how much the decor has improved

Like sitting outside this almost hidden gem for a quiet drink. Came here on one of the lunchtime strolls of Norwich CAMRA. Have been here a few times in the evening whilst listening to bands.

Bizarre. Draught ale served at the temperature of lager. Very comfortable Georgian style furniture at the rear of the pub which is, sadly, completely incongruous to the rest of the establishment.

Enjoyed a drink, sitting at a table outside. Nice people serving

Food was great value and superb food and drinks are prised average so all in all a great place to eat

Excellent choice of beers, great staff and good intimate live music venue. In fact best music venue in Norwich. Highly recommend

I love this pub, tucked away down a little alley just off the market area. Always friendly staff and some real characters, as in customers. Full of character and a must whenever I am in Norwich. Love the seagulls opposite 👍

Popped in for a quick drink & sit down. Proper old locals pub, friendly staff. Just what we needed. Not much choice of casks ales but bottle of speckled hen did the job.

I have always loved it here. Have been here for years but have not been for ages. Was not disappointed. Ambience, beer, staff delightful. ~A thoroughly nice afternoon.

Great atmosphere, went I. Saturday night, had a band called the McCurdy brothers. People having a great time and moving to the rockabilly sounds. Drinks fair price and an all round great bar with a bit of quirk!

Me and my boyfriend have been to this pub a few times and really liked it! It’s really quiet in the afternoon and a relaxing place to sit with nice beers in the city centre. Unfortunately the last few days it doesn’t seem to be open! Monday and Tuesday are advertised as being open but we found the place empty. Seems like the opening times on Google are out of date.

Spent the weekend in Norwich and visited a couple of the pubs whilst their. On entering the pub we noticed a had a selection of local ales, so I tried the stout from Grain Brewery, and I must say it was delicious, good body, good temperature and excellent taste, so decided to have a couple then moved on. Would visit again when in Norwich

Excited to see Powerhouse only to find they had been cancelled at the 11th hour. Why? Where is the support for local talent gone? 🤷🏻‍♀️

Pretty busy, mainly by men folk waiting for wives whom were shopping. Done up quite nicely.

No food available. Slowly getting to where it used to be in the olden days.

Dropped in for a drink while we waited for our table for dinner nearby. New owners. Daughter served us, she was polite, inviting, thoughtful and funny. She made us feel very very welcome, would definitely recommend.

Friendly staff and live bands are great

What a ripping bar, great atmosphere created by the ladies behind the bar just as much as the old fellas rocking out on the dance floor

We visited as a group after watching Rocky Horror Picture Show all dressed up on a Saturday night, the staff and establishment were fantastic. The atmosphere was electric and fun, the price of drinks was very reasonable. I love this pub, I've been there a few times now and have always had a great experience.

Used to be the only safe and welcoming pub for alternative people and now it a Karens wine bar. All the good musoc has been taken off the juke box. Barley does a trade anymore. Middle aged tory types welcome!

Great pub one of the best pub in Norwich

My first visit in a long time, I think it's changed hands since then. We went wondering if anything had changed, it hadn't. The bar felt very dated, the only thing missing was a fog of cigarette smoke. We didn't stay for more than one drink.

Busy. Buzzy. Nice atmosphere. Proper pub with a band.

I never knew or heard of this pub untill a few weeks ago and I really liked it .. a nice little pub with a good friendly vibe. The customers seemed really easy to talk to and where friendly. So where the bar staff.

Crammed for music nights. Guinness on tap and poured well. Smoking area is out front. Tucked away little venue, but still popular.

I hadn't visited the pub for a number of years, and I enjoyed my lunch there. The friendliness of the staff contributed to a pleasant atmosphere.

Dropped in for a bite as somewhere different to eat. Wish we hadn't food was expensive for what was nothing but basic greasy home cooking but tasted and smelled it had been cooked on something that had not been cleaned for months. I really could not recommend this place less. If you see it and fancy food walk past. Saying that the guy behind the bar was ok and told someone all his beers were from Norfolk. First time I knew Southwold was Norfolk!

A very interesting pub with an excellent range of beers. We caught it on an evening with live music and it was very busy indeed. It’s a bit spit and sawdust but full of atmosphere and character.

Great, slightly out the way little pub with local but cosy atmospheric feel. Impressed that the Christmas tree is up by mid November 😂 Four real ales and a good selection of lagers together with traditional bread rolls, flapjacks and packets of Haribo starmix They were playing darts on the night I visited.

In the afternoon we called in for a drink and had a brief chat with the friendly male member of staff, before enjoying one of our favourite songs on the fab jukebox. In the evening we returned to watch a superb punk covers band, 'Alternative Lobster', four guys who for two hours (with a short break), belted out classics from The Undertones, The Ramones, Sex Pistols, The Jam and others. Full of energy, really entertaining, an appreciative crowd and a brilliant atmosphere!

It's a pub, ales are OK with a decent enough selection. Prices are competitive for the centre. Nothing bad but nothing brilliant either. A safe bet

Great city centre pub, no frills and reminds me of pubs of the past!! Noticed the food menu last time I was there which looked good too.

Stopped for breakfast Saturday morning with my daughter. Standard breakfast was the perfect size for both of us and very tasty. The pub is situated in a quiet alleyway between the market and a busy pedestrian area, cafe style outside seating and friendly staff make this well worth a visit.

Website talks of a famous sixteenth century pub and it definitely smells that way - if you smell beyond it he each aroma Should have realised as very few customers but hope for best. Promises of new lunch menu got the better of us Ordered food and after 40min wait asked for money back as had a deadline only to be presented with a meal that had clearly been sat under a lamp for at least 20 mins. Shame barmaid hadn’t realised the fries were cooked. We’d guessed they were due to smell of rancid chip fat coming in through the window from fan above. Sadly barmaid had disappeared (!) when we left so unable to seek money back. Sweaty food. Depressing local customers. Don’t bother for a day time lunch / drink.

Great music with the band Steeler. Unfortunately I found the young lad behind the bar quite rude, and he also picked my bottle up by the top to check if it was empty when it wasn't. Not good hygiene with Covid still around.

Norwich iconic boozer, well kept, value priced beer, and usually a band playing. Support it as we can't afford to lose such a legend pub.

Tucked away off the main routes but not to be missed. The food offering beats the bigger brand 'High Street' eateries. When we visited Norwich for the second/third time we ensured we returned here and have recommended our family who live closer to Norwich than us to go here too. Friendly cheery staff, authentic city pub keeping the traditional pub vibe alive.

Nice building and cosy inside but almost ignored by the bar woman in there. Loads of people came to the bar after me and served first. Wasn’t that busy so couldn’t understand why it was so complicated. Not sure I’ll be going back.
