Likely the best lunch I've had in Abergavenny for the price, drinks are well made, service is speedy considering how busy it was when we went there, setting was really well thought out, food was unbelievably high quality and the servers were kind, friendly, attentive and smart. Our server introduced themselves and gave a really great experience. I will visit every time I am in Abergavenny.

Aanrader

Used to be excellent- no longer the case. Food was ok, the service was on a par with Basil Fawlty crossed with Julie Walters in the â2 Soupsâ comedy sketch. We had booked a table for 4 on Saturday evening. We were taken to our table to find a different waitress had just taken 2 other people to it. They were told to move somewhere else by the guy showing us to the table. Everything was done properly with space between tables although the place was quite empty anyway. We placed our order with the waitress, who didnât seem very competent. I questioned whether they had taken every order on the table. We checked and they said yes but then 15 minutes later came over to say they only had orders for 3 main courses. It took 3 attempts to get a wine list and 5 attempts to get some water. The waitress brought out the starters and said âIâm not sure what they are, but here you goâ. A little training might be worthwhile. At some point a waitress brought us out 2 main courses of pork chops. We hadnât ordered those so sent them away. The main course didnât arrive for about an hour by which point they had apologised that they had forgotten us and offered free deserts on the house. After waiting ages for the plates to be cleared from the table and asking for the desert menu we gave up and went to the desk to pay as we thought it would take ages for them to bring it to the table. That in turn was eventful, they tried to give us the wrong bill for 2 different tables. In the end we just agreed to a bill that resembled some of the food we had eaten, paid and left. Total incompetence from start to finish, but well worth it if you want free table side entertainment.

This was my first time staying in a pub and I absolutely loved it! Very cozy with just a few rooms and quite comfortable. The Lamb and Flag is off the beaten path on the outskirts of Abergavenny so it was peaceful and quiet. Lovely views of the hills when you sat outside with a pint, and the food was amazing! I had the bangers and mash twice because it was so good. All of the staff were lovely and very helpful. Around the back are walking trails up to the winery and Sugar Loaf mountain. Itâs about an half hour walk into the main town but being a bit more remote made it nice to get away from the madding crowds. A peaceful and cozy respite in Abergavenny. I would definitely stay there again.

Lovely traditional pub, Vic the landlord gives such a friendly warm welcome. Dog friendly, sunny beer patio and good beers. What more would you want. Xxx

Just wandered up to the pub. Half a dozen in the dining room. Woman behind bar, obviously the "boss" chatting to a lady about something across the bar. Got a sideways glance, so I went to a young barmaid who was on her phone. Asked for a pint, but she said she was too young to serve me. She went up to the "boss" who initially ignored her and carried on chatting. Eventually, she acknowledged the presence of the barmaid who told her what I'd ordered. I took a look at the menu, and still, the woman kept on chatting, making no attempt to pour the beer. It was just chatter, nothing more. After a couple more minutes, I said to the barmaid, "Thank you, but don't bother," and I left. Previously, the service had been excellent, but something's obviously changed. Off to find somewhere else to eat. đȘ
