Lovely hotel and very friendly welcoming team of staff. Room was Very clean with kettle and tea/coffee provided. Lovely shower and bathroom. Room a small and cosy but not really a problem. Large car park that also offers charging points if you need them. We didn’t use charging bays so no idea of cost etc. Had an evening meal both nights and food was very good and reasonably priced with a good selection on offer. Abergavenny town around 10 minute drive and walking probably 15-20 minutes. Overall, very nice stay.

Always pay them a visit when we are in the area, and can't fault them. Plenty of free parking friendly helpful staff food hot and plenty of it and all at reasonable prices.

Love this restaurant. The new management have definitely made a big difference. Food is amazing, staff are friendly and smiley, service quick and great value for money. Will definitely return (again). Christmas day was awesome, better than the year before too. Have visited many times and fully intend on spending much more time visiting again. Edited to add, Came in Friday eve had yet another fabulous meal and amazing service from Elaine and a younger girl too (Lucy I think her name was). Both very pleasant and made us very welcome. Definitely our favourite place to eat..

Booked for a last minute stay on 25th May. The location is stunning, with incredible views across the Brecon Beacons. On entering the pub, the friendly and professional staff sorted my room key and my Guinness within minutes. The barman even helped another guest set their phone up to use the pub WiFi. Nothing was too much trouble for him The room itself was a good size, with a comfortable bed and complimentary tea and coffee. After unpacking I had lunch and cannot fault the food or the service. Only wish I could have stayed a little longer to explore the area. Definitely returning in the not too distant future. Recommended for a relaxing, welcoming time.

We stayed for 4 days, the room had a wonderful view of the mountains. The room and food was brilliant and staff were lovely. I would recommend the lamb and flag to anyone I know if they are in the area and would like to say a big thank you to the staff for the help and service they did for us

Great service. Food was good, would have been nice with more vegan options, however what was there was lovely. Can bring your dog and they have water and treats for them as well.

Stopped in for a drink and some food on the way back from climbing Sugar Loaf mountain. Friendly staff who were very welcoming and chatty. Had some drinks and ordered food. I had a large fish and chips which was amazing and my partner steak philly baguette and the steak was cooked perfectly medium rare. Highly recommend stopping here and by how busy it was when we left so do a lot of other people.

A comfortable stay in a convenient location. The rooms though, clean and comfortable are tired with broken and worn out fittings particularly in the bathroom. Most of the team were friendly, however it was notable that the majority of the work fell to one or two staff members. Others stood idly by and seemed happy to watch the others work which was not great to see as a customer, though clearly a credit to the few that took up the slack.

Lovely place to stay, the staff are all really helpful and cheerful, rooms was great, warm and clean. Evening meal, we had nachos and burger, was great and really filling,. Added advantage it's 10 mins walk to sugarloaf vineyard. This place is a real find xxx

Stayed overnight to break the journey to Pembrokeshire. Staff very friendly and helpful. Pub was quiet - midweek evening and weather wasn't too great. We were able to charge the car without difficulty and have a quiet meal and drink together - meal was served hot. Room was clean and comfortable, a bit compact for 2 of us - great shower. Our room looked over the kids play area. Rooms are accessible via steep stairs and would not be suitable for disabled. Would return if doing same journey again.

One of our group regulars for the past 2 years as this was a nice friendly pub. But it looks like it has now changed hands. No longer greeted when you arrive and no one came to take our drinks order. It’s now “order at the bar”. Huge backwards step. The food was just average, nothing like it used to be and for some reason a lot of food is now served in wartime enamel bowls. Had Xmas dinner booked for this year, but will regretfully cancel.

The proprietors were lovely, welcoming and very accommodating. We were left disappointed by the fact that the menu on the website did not reflect what was available. We were told that new menus were sent to the restaurant but the website still showed old menus, I don’t blame the proprietors for this, I blame Marstons.

An embarrassment to a community full of fantastic small businesses and restaurants. We were welcomed by a lovely member of staff who seated us and directed us to the bar to order our food, with a menu that had a fair selection. After well over an hour’s wait, our food arrived, with my partner’s order being completely incorrect. The server returned the meal to the kitchen with no apology. After another 15 minute wait, by which time my food had gone cold, my partners meal arrived. No staff came to check on us for the remainder of our visit. The food was disappointing and certainly not worth the wait, I would have had a far superior meal in the local Wetherspoons. I dine frequently at restaurants across the UK, and throughout Europe, and this has been the worst experience I have had in several years, I will ensure that my friends and family avoid this venue to save their disappointment.

Staff are so friendly and know their customers. I usually phone my order through in advance for convenience. Their chicken shish is amazing - always cooked to perfection and the mixed donner wraps too. Always have found their food delicious. Their homemade garlic sauce is incredible! Garlic bread pizza with cheese is another favourite. They’re open late so many choices and always such fresh and good quality. Attached a picture of a mixed wrap I bought yesterday that I cut in half. Doesn’t it look stunning! A work of art!! Can’t beat that!!

Great lunch at a great price. Excellent curry and chips... Great place for a friendly, quick couple after work to unwind. The sauna and cold water therapy are brilliant, and the instruction is invaluable. They are there with you every step of the journey. Highly recommend!!!
