Excellent food great service and lovely atmosphere

This wonderful Cafe has to be the best one that we have come across, the food is wonderful and the staff so efficient and friendly, when we stay in Abergavenny we have breakfast there with our two dogs every day, our dogs are made to feel special to, and are given a little treat when we go in, if you haven't tried it yet, then please do, I can't wait to visit again.

Food today was mostly cold, raised this with waiter, he was rude, huffed and puffed and said he hadn't cooked it. No apology... we are usually there weekly, think we'll be taking a break.

My wife and I are regular customers of Y Bwyty in Abergavenny and have unreserved praise for the indefatigable owners and their team.

Great service from the team for our cycling clubs annual Xmas mince ride. Thank you. One of our favourite stops. Always good service and value for money.

Just stopped for a coffee. Taken to an upstairs table which was quite peaceful. Everything was well served and good coffee. We will definitely go back when next in Abergavenny.

Lovely local cafe and restaurant, with outside seating. Great food, with special mention of their home made cakes, which are exceptional! Very friendly and cheery staff who make you feel welcome. Dog friendly inside and out, with a dog drinking bowl and free biscuits for your doggy pal with your order.

Very busy so a bit of a wait but worth it half breakfast was amazing. Staff were rushed of their feet but professional and friendly

4 of us stopped here for breakfast on our way home from holiday. Got served with a smile immediately, seated and order taken, food and drink arrived so quickly even though they were quite busy and the food was delicious. All items appeared of excellent quality and to top it off, the price was excellent. Would look to divert out of our way to go here again if we are ever again in the area. Thank you!

We visited Y Bwyty on a Sunday morning looking for a cooked breakfast after having been here several times before & already knowing the service was poor. When the food arrived the bacon & sausage were under-cooked & my partner asked the waitress if the bacon in particular could be returned & cooked properly The manager was called & said they were busy & there would be a 40 minute wait for this … when in fact it would have only taken 2 minutes extra on the grill. Unfortunately the service here is awful … which is a shame as the place itself is nice … they don’t know anything about customer service … we were charged for one breakfast & left … not going back !

Great freshly cooked breakfast (1 meat and 1 veggie) which were hot and delicious. Hot coffees. Friendly staff and clean facilities. Will certainly visit again when in Abergavenny.

Lovely place for lunch, especially if the sun is shining! Fast and efficient table service even though they had a large number of outdoor tables. Lunch was excellent. Would definitely go there again.

Stopped by for the first time while visiting Abergavenny. Opposite a public car park. Stylish cafe. Multiple seating areas. Outside dining. Dog friendly. No frills menu. Vegan and Veggie options. Super Friendly. Excellent service and efficient delivery of our (good) food. Highly recommended!

I have been having take aways from here for a while, the gluten free cakes are amazing, always fresh and you get a decent sized slice. I called in today, I was very early and the cakes weren't out, I was happy to wait. I just wanted to say thank you to the staff because I sat outside waiting to go back in for my order and the lovely staff brought everything out to me which I thought was so lovely as they were fairly busy. The staff are always very friendly and chatty whilst getting my order together. I enjoy that so it's not only the cakes that keep me coming back. Thank you all for such great service.

What a fabulous place this is! Been to Abergavenny many times over the years. First time in this place. My corned beef pie lunch was lovely as my Wife's lasagne was. Lovely staff, lovely restaurant, what more do you want. We'll being seeing again, I can assure you@

This really is a great place to get a bite to eat at reasonable prices. It boasts many regulars and the service is excellent. A very easy recommend from me.

Saturday afternoon visit with my mother. Was lucky to find seating outside in the sun. Service was quick and friendly. Food was lovely and fresh and very reasonable. Coffee was best I have had in a while. Could have sat there all day. Think I have found my new Saturday afternoon hide out.

First time we had been in here. Had a small cooked breakfast and coffee each. Service was very good , didn't wait long for our food,which was nice, clean and tidy cafe, lovely dog friendly cafe . Lovely atmosphere.

My daughter and I were looking to eat in Abergavenny in the afternoon, which is near impossible as every kitchen closes at 2.30 and re-opens at 5, 6 or 7 (why in 2024?!) But Y Bwytys window stated 'food all day, every day' but after waiting a while to be served we were told not today........ obviously Wednesday afternoons don't count? Very frustrating........

Fancied a cooked breakfast with my daughter today so , looking at recommendations we decided to try YBwyty. So pleased we did, fantastic full English, delivered hot to the table in quick time. Delicious and amazing value for money. Super friendly staff, will be back soon.

Popped in today after a trip over to the goytre wharf. Disappointed to see the cafe over there is closed on a Monday, so we decided to park in the town and look for somewhere to have some lunch. I parked in castle street car park after a quick Google search of town centre car parks. I think if I hadn't have parked here I probably would have missed this hidden gem? My mum and I thought that it looked nice from outside so decided to give it a try. We waited by the till to be seated upon arrival. A friendly young lady went to find us a table and quickly returned to us and got us seated. I thought that given the fact it seemed lovely and modern and clean inside it could be on the more expensive end for what we would have liked to pay for lunch, but having a quick scan of the menu we were pleasantly surprised! Lots of choice and very well priced! We both ordered the same, a fish finger sandwich on brown bread which came with crisps & coleslaw. I had a cappuccino and my mum had a latte. The service was prompt and polite, our coffees arrived quickly and the food soon after. It was nice to be offered a choice of chocolate or cinnamon on my cappuccino, I have only ever been offered chocolate so it made a nice change! The food was spot on! The bread was so soft and fresh and the fish fingers were crispy and piping hot! The coleslaw on the side was definitely home made and delicious! I am already planning a return visit with my husband! I know he'd want to try the full breakfast! :) Overall a superb little find! Excellent food, coffee & service!

Have been a couple of times food is okay...tad bland. Ample natural daylight to café...service reasonably efficant, one huge gripe is when they clean the tables...they absolutely lather on heavy chemicals even though people are eating in close proximity. You can clean without such dramatic intervention.

This is the go to restaurant for locals as the food is excellent quality and good value for money. Service is excellent inside and outside - it used to be called the Trading Post!

Took a group of 20+ cyclists there today for coffee and cake stop on our club’s anniversary ride. Arranged in advance, given a private room at no charge and great service. Have always found them nothing but helpful and accommodating.

Tasteless food. We had the most watery soup. Coffee tasteless, hot chocolate was undrinkable. We ended up leaving everything. Told staff, they didn’t charge us but had poor customer service - no apology, seemed quite annoyed at our complaint (eye rolling, no smiles). Reading other reviews it seems to be a common issue. Will not be returning.

Nice traditional cafe with lovely, helpful service with a surprisingly large selection of vegan options.

Popped in for a light lunch, fish finger and tuna sandwiches were consumed. Very good value, excellent service and will definitely call in again.

Lovely place for breakfast and lunch. Thr broccoli and Stilton soup and bread was fantastic. SO MANY vegetarian options. Really good value and just a great spot in abergavenny for a fuss free meal. Would definitely come again

We dropped into this popular coffee bar cum restaurant for a quick breakfast and were impressed by the prompt and friendly service and quality of the food. There is plenty of seating and the prices are reasonable. However it can become a bit noisy when there are children running around whilst their parents are glued to their smart phones – so take your ear plugs…

Poor experience. Coffee weak and watery. Didn't at all resemble any flat white I've ever had. Tasted more like cheap filter coffee. Lid unsecured on coffee and leaked all over clothes.

Group of 11 adults - 9 with learning disabilities. The Trading Post Team were superb with our group, so a very big Thank You and Well Done. Very easy recommend from us.

Booked our local cycling club for coffees and mince pies for a group of 25. Private room with great service and very reasonable price. Often stop there when riding and always good.would recommend.

The lady working on the till was very confused when I told her our table was booked for 1.30pm she said inside or out, my reply was obviously inside its raining. Told there was over a half hour wait for food, explained we had booked so why would we have to wait? She looked at me as if I had 2 heads. By this point I had said 4 times we have booked a table. We managed to get to our table finally, took ages to be served !! Told the waitress what we wanted, she did not grasp 2 lamb dinners, she asked another 2 times what we wanted. My pot of tea was weak and the teapot needed a good clean, the toilets are dirty and I don't think the floor has had a good clean in the dining area for weeks, loads of dogs hair. Our food came out with scraps of lamb not nice sliced lamb. Vegetables cold and frozen yorkshire puddings. This place has gone down hill a lot over the last few months, we used to love coming here.

Have salmon & egg mayo sandwich on white with coleslaw and crisps and a latte. My friend had wedges with chilli & cheese and a pot of tea. We sat outside in the glorious sunshine just chatting, relaxing and enjoying the food and atmosphere. We followed our delicious lunch with cake. My friend had the prosecco & orange cake, while I opted for the chocolate & orange cake, accompanied by another pot of tea and a chair latte for me.

Had a great lunch here yesterday !! We sat outside with our 2 dogs; it was great to have table service and the choice of menu was stunning. The food was delicious and the staff were great. One of the waitresses even had dog treats in her pocket !!

If you wondered why we left our flat white coffee - the milk was too hot ruining the coffee which was not a flat white anyway - just a white coffee. Cake was ok. Never left a coffee undrunk before which says all.

We have been coming here for a few years and have always been more then satisfied with the food and service, but our pot of tea on this day was weak and no colour, even after stirring and left. We asked for another tea bag to which we were told it would cost us 10 pence. Also the tap in the ladies toilet I don't think it has ever been cleaned, disgusting

The Trading Post. A place I have been going to for many years. They have moved location due to there ever growing popularity and dedication to providing great food and drinks for a reasonable price so why the 1 star? A 5 star would be before two male members of staff arrived I’m not sure if anyone one else has noticed but the abuse other members of staff get while these two guys are working is enough to put me off. I was having a nice afternoon in here and all I could hear was shouting and finger pointing from both of them. They treat the female staff like they were on the bottom of there shoes. The owners are usually quick to step in and mediate if it were other members of staff but they don’t when it comes to these two. They stand there and let it happen. I’ve known the other staff who are courteous, considerate and have been there a lot longer and I’m surprised they are still there. This is not something I want to hear when I’m eating or having a good cup of coffee. They need to be dealt with because it’s workplace bullying I would not have it in my place of business the owners need to take a look at there staff and see where the real heart is in the business because it’s not them it’s others who have shown the loyalty and respect the ones who come in and put in the effort and take the abuse from two men who are bullies. DEAL WITH THEM PLEASE.

Very busy Saturday, the team managed the front of house very well. Dog friendly, full English breakfast was very good as was the coffee. Definitely recommend.

Had a lovely light salad lunch and my partner had a ciabatta. Speedy service polite efficient staff and great food! Well done to all - cakes looked yummy as well. We'll be back defo!

We have come here many times since we discovered it in 2021 and it is the only place we have coffee etc when we visit Abergavenny. We have 2 dogs and they are always spoilt and given a treat. The servers are always friendly and professional and the cappuccinos and hot chocolate are fabulous! Highly recommended.

Had an issue with my drink which I addressed to a member of staff who did not hesitate to change my drink. Overall, brilliant service from all the staff who served me. Will definitely be coming back.

I've been here twice recently. It's a spacious cafe with comfortable shabby chic furniture. A great place to meet up with friends. My smoked salmon sandwich was heavenly and caused food envy among my friends. Lovely to see a dog friendly eatery, and watching them enjoying their doggie cuppacinos is always a delight.

This place is amazing food is cooked to order so fresh and well cooked. I have 2 dogs who are spoilt by the staff who are super friendly. If you want good home cooked food then this is the place for you. Plenty of spaces inside and out

After eagerly returning to the establishment following a lovely mid week lunch we opted for the Sunday carvery and I use the term carvery loosely. After being seated we were told that it was seating service as the cafe being busy affected the health and safety rules, therefore resulting in us having to tell the waitress what vegetables we wanted, better stoll she said tell me what you don't want. On receiving the pre plated lunch at no time did we witness our meat being carved and the chicken was a a breast just cut in half. No condiments were offered and no stuffing to a ccompany the poultry. They forgot bout the gravy and I had to remind the waitress about the gravy noats. When it did arrive our lunch was cold. Again she apologised and offered to feed the information back to the kitchen. At no point were we offered a warm lunch or to even heat it. Yorkshire puds stone cold and shop bought. A complete sub standard meal and having eaten at various other carvers rhee was no comparison plus the portions are very very small. On payment at the till the member of staff seemed to forger the word please, just basic manners. No good will gesture and the establishment seems not capable of taking constructive customer criticism after removing my complaint on social media and blocking me. I will never go here again and would never reccomend the carvery, a complete disaster.

The best place for a relaxing coffee ☕️

A shocked and very disappointed return to this establishment. After complaints to the waitress about our "carver" and i use this term loosely,Sunday lunch I will never return. No condiments offered. , prepared vegetables of small proportions which went cold when waiting for gravy boats which had been forgotten. Shop bought yorkers plus a very rude waitress who forgot manners when asking for carcapayment.never again.

Was treated to Mother's Day lunch by my beautiful daughter ...food was really good (we had the Sunday Carvery) ....staff were very helpful and will definitely be back for a second visit nxt time I'm in Abergavenny

What an amazing cafe. Food is of a high standard, intact, I had a better lunch here than some expensive restaurants. The staff are friendly and welcoming I highly recommend.

Poor choice for vegetarian/vegan - on the favourites menu they only had a vegan hot dog available. Other choices sandwich or breakfast. Then told oh well we’ve been busy - wish we had a crystal ball to know what people want! I really cannot believe that by 1330 no soup, quiche or vegan option for fish finger sandwich- in face the waiter was confused by this option. Will not return

Check your bill before you pay. Items you haven't had may have been added! Service was quick enough but they got the order wrong. Shan't be going back.
