Lovely peaceful place with nice walks along the canal, has the added interest of all the narrow boats to look at. Just wish some people would keep their dogs on a lead, they might love fido and are sure "he's harmless" but not everyone is a fan!

We recently visited the Brecon Canal to see my folks, who just moved their boat there, and I must say it’s a charming spot! The area is incredibly scenic, with plenty of historical buildings to admire, including a fascinating old lime kiln. We also stopped by the quaint little café where the staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming. The whole place has a peaceful, inviting atmosphere, and I’m already looking forward to my next visit. Highly recommended for anyone in search of a beautiful and relaxing destination.

No problem with the site which is a lovely spot to visit on a hot day, definitely cooler along the water. Didn’t book a canal ride, but could have got on the next one if I wanted. Dogs are allowed on the barge. Big problem with food at the cafe. Told it would be a 20 minute wait, but ended up waiting 1hour and twenty minutes. My scrambled eggs on toast were not worth the wait or the price. They were overcooked in a microwave and the “toast” only just qualified as such on one side. Some people appeared to be getting nice meals, eventually.

Walk was lovely as it’s a bright sunny day which I had hoped to end with a tea and snack. However, If you’re visiting on a Monday take your own refreshments as the coffee shop is closed as is the visitors centre. The website I viewed didn’t mention this so was disappointed, as were the other visitors looking for some refreshmentss.

What a lovely area to visit. My Fiancé and I walked for miles in the beautiful countryside, had great food at the cafe on site and to top off our day we were lucky enough to have a barge trip. For a truly relaxing and peaceful time I would highly recommend Goytre Wharf, it is very dog friendly place where there are bowls of water and even biscuits located around the cafe and the play area for kids although not huge can keep them entertained. Sorry, enjoying the day I didn't take many pictures.

For me, Goytre Wharf as a whole, is probably the best location on the Mon & Brec canal, it has everything. Ample woodland car parking a short stroll from the wharf. A wonderfully situated cafe overlooking the canal, marina and landscaped industrial area around the old lime kilns, serving excellent food at reasonable prices. Seating inside or outdoors at tables or picnic on the grass. ABC Leisure have a base where small day boats or longer term narrowboats can be hired. There is also a period cottage for hire next to the canal. If you fancy some exercise after you've eaten, woodland walks are close by or a stroll or cycle in either direction on the well laid towpath will not disappoint. A beautiful spot enjoy life.

A lovely walk along the canal, taking you through a wooded area & passed a small detached holiday cottage which then brings you to a cafe called Penelopes Cafe. We stopped off for ice cream & water for our puppy on a hot day. There is a large sitting area outside of the cafe overlooking the cottage & canal. An ideal place to relax & take in the scenery. We didn't have a meal, just ice cream in a tub & fresh water is provided for four legged hounds. Although the ice cream was quite expensive, £7.50 for two scoops of ice cream in two tubs, it was lovely ice cream & went down very well on a hot day. Hot & cold meals & snacks can be purchased in the cafe. Inside is nice & cosy with alot of unusual ornaments including a life size statue of a canal worker 100 years ago & a glass table with the legs being two legs of a horse & its nose. The staff are friendly & helpful & the restaurant & toilets are nice & clean. Highly recommend a visit for a nice relaxing walk & then refreshments afterwards.

We rented a barge for the week (our first time), over our daughters birthday and found it to be an incredibly relaxing experience. The company (ABC boat hire) were extremely helpful and they very thoughtfully provided absolutely everything we could possibly have needed for our stay. I would definitely recommend it to others. The area was beautiful and had loads of excellent quality places to stop and eat along the canal route, locals were all very friendly and helpful. I also noticed a distinct lack of litter which was a pleasant surprise considering it would have a large number of people visiting the area.

Lovely relaxing watching the canal boats and ppl who are tending to boats on the canal. The cafe has very friendly staff and wide variety of snacks and meals. Just a mention but If you carry cash they would prefer that as card machine costs hundreds of pounds each year. Dogs welcome water bowls around for them. Staff were friendly but need more than two taking orders, making coffees and working on the cash till. We had an extremely long wait to be served. The café is dog friendly.

Got served with a smile immediately, seated and order taken, food and drink arrived so quickly even though they were quite busy and the food was delicious.
