Sunday lunch - high quality meat and nice clean cooking. Enjoyed the plentiful veg left on the table for you to help yourself. Very nice welcome by the new management team and efficient friendly service. My only minus was that the plates the food was served on were cold. Hope this establishment goes from strength to strength.

I cannot recommend this place enough, Adriani and the team are fantastic. The food is always 10/10 and the events they’re bringing to us locally are amazing. The bottomless brunch was incredible. Food, drinks, music and dancing. What more could you want? Also the Sunday lunch is the best I’ve ever had! This is definitely our new favourite place.

Had Sunday lunch there today and was very disapointed with the food. The meringue was like a brick and grey in parts in colour and unedible. My sunday lunch came inside a yorkshire pudding which soaked up all my gravy. They charged me a £1 for extra gravy! The beef was melt in your mouth but thr roasts were not the best ive had. My friend thinks their chef was on his day off as her previous meals there were excellent.

The shoulder of lamb was chewy and bland to the point my partner almost choked. It was even difficult to cut with a steak knife. The soup was bland. We did complain about the lamb not being cooked correctly. We didn't get offered any discount. The only thing good about this place was nice staff and nice pudding. Will not be returning here.

We stopped here for some food after seeing good reviews. The restaurant side was quiet initially, getting very busy by the time we left. I had cauliflower soup to start, which I found quite bland, but nice after a lot of salt and pepper. The bread was lovely but a lack of butter was annoying. My partner had the charcuterie board which was huge for a starter but the meat and olives were nothing special. We then had the 24 hour cooked lamb shoulder, which was so tough we could barely cut through it, even after asking for steak knives. The few bits I ate were stringy and tough and left me chewing for so long my jaw ached and I had to, embarrassingly, evacuate the mouthful into my napkin. I also nearly choked on a piece after a stringy bit got caught in my tooth and a piece of meat went halfway down my throat, causing a 20 second panic where I couldn’t breathe! We gave up on them and they looked barely touched when our plates were collected. We explained to the lovely waiter who said he would feed this back to the chef. The potatoes and veg were lovely though. We had a brownie and ice cream for pudding, which took forever to arrive. We paid at the bar for speed, no discount was offered despite us not eating 95% of our main courses. The waiters were very lovely though. Sad to say we won’t be returning due to this experience.

Had the most beautiful meal in the Portskewett Inn tonight. Although there is only 1 vegan dish written on the menu (a burger) there are many vegan dishes available. The chef was incredible, he came out and gave us options for starters and mains. The vegan meals were delicious! The asparagus risotto and the vegan bruschetta was absolutely gorgeous. The staff were brilliant, no request was too much. 100% recommend.

Not sure where to start with this, the menu was not detailed at all nor had any allergens to indicate was in the meal. ordered a platter with friends as it said chicken wings, chips, salad, onion rings & garlic bread. The chicken wings were not normal wings as you would imagine because they came out with a crispy breaded coating not only that there was no mention that these wings were spicy either on the menu. Friend did not react well to this, might visit again further down the line but there's a lot to be worked on here.

Despite a big sign outside saying dogs welcome , I took my dogs in and was told they’re not allowed in the lounge as people are eating - there was not a single person in sight let alone anyone eating. When politely questioned the landlord told me “I suggest you move on”… well I suggest you get a business brain, turning custom away in these hard times. I like to support small local pubs but how can you with such braindead incompetent clowns in charge. I’ll stick to the millers arms , a nice pub with a welcoming atmosphere.

We’d booked for a family meal in the restaurant area on Saturday night, before realising that it clashed with England’s World Cup quarter final, which was showing in the bar and which we all wanted to watch. The staff couldn’t have been more accommodating, bringing in menus for us and taking our orders so we only had to pop out to the restaurant to eat around half-time. The food was delicious and good value, especially my son’s huge portion of sausage and mash. The pub had a very friendly vibe (despite the location, the football crowd were all supporting England), and despite the result we had an entertaining and memorable evening.

I had a really lovely meal here... I meant to take photos but only remembered when my plate was clear! I had the Mediterranean tart for £9.50. The portions are very generous, it came with really nice chunky chips that tasted like they'd been doubly fried and a huge portion of fresh, crisp salad with a nice vinegrette based salad dressing. The tart itself had seeds in the pastry that I think must have been pretoasted? And really well seasoned veg on top. I'd order it again. We had a salted caramel brownie for dessert, which again was delicious and moist and I would order again. I think we may have been the only non-locals there this evening but we didn't feel out of place at all. The staff were really attentive and there was clearly excellent team work as drinks and things arrived almost as soon as we'd ordered them. They have very strict covid requirements and we each needed to give our names, numbers and post codes, the hostess brought the clipboard to our table and filled in the information for us so we weren't stood waiting at the door and she made everything very easy. It was my first visit but certainly won't be my last.

We had read the reviews and thought whilst staying in the area this is a must. We pulled up at about 4.30, we were the only ones in the place apart from the barmaid who sat 10ft away from us watching Sky News and not saying a word, it was a little bit uncomfortable to say the least. You would at least think she would try and engage in some sort of conversation? My wife declined to have a drink because of the smell, I can't quite explain in words what it was likened to, maybe like a very old house? Food is not served until 6 (I think), it appears the speciality could be their own pizzas. The previous night we were in cab and the driver said where you off to tomorrow, now I realise why he gave me a funny look when I said the Portskewett Inn.

Room lighting was a little iffy. Well decorated. Outwhat's the minimum for charging devices? Water in the room a couple of breakfast options available with a meal. Hotel was unavailable from the street until four p m, fact that no one communicated to us, Nor did anyone advise to pull into one of the upper street parking lots and walked down and Sort out how baggage would get there. A good news is they have WI. Fi. The bad news is it's unsecured so you really can't use it. No elevator always a problem with old british hotels, can prepare to leave your bags in the car.

Used to be a lovely pub, but now it’s overpriced and no atmosphere, replaced good local drinks like Welsh lager with Italian peroni, removed the big screen so no live sport and can’t even sit at the bar. £5.50 for a lager is ridiculous this is Abergavenny not London

Blimey is this place expensive, £20 for a Burger and chips! But this really was a lovely place to go for a family lunch. Service was faultless and staff took a keen interest in our 8 month old daughter, which was nice. Tried the local beer and that was beautiful and refreshing. Had to chuckle though: the child's beef burger was nearly the same size as the adult one. Hysterical.
