The Kings Head in Monmouthshire

Thought it was a great place to have lunch with my husband... never again. Ordered the Salmon with buttered veg and potatoes, less than a handful of veg, one small potatoe wedge and a figer slice of salmon and that was it.. . Ploughman's, was more lettuce than anything .. one piece of cheese... poor, left hungry. For what it was, way over priced. Will not return there ever. Totally put us off.

Down to earth pub with a great beer garden!👍👍👍

We were staying in the adjoining hotel and the food seemed interesting. Turns out we made a great choice. Its a mix of Indian and Nepalese cooking, so they took Indian dishes to another level with some unusual but delicious offerings. I'd certainly go back if we were in town. God friendly service and selection of beers from the pub in the same establishment

All good, friendly staff,accomodation spotless.One gripe was that the mattress had seen better days.

Amazing staff and friendly, anything we asked was no trouble at all, the bed was comfy room was a good size and bathroom was really nice. Food was fantastic we will definitely be returning

Quirky hotel, entrance in the pub in front of the dart game, avoid the day of the local league or shout before opening the door 😅😅 Rooms are old style but functional, the evening can be spend in between the pub and the indian restaurant within the hotel

Bought takeaway from Regency 59 last night. Excellent quality and not too oily. Possibly the best Indian takeaway I've ever had.

I have visited here a few times now and I must say the food is delicious they must have a very talented chef working here. However the waitresses often seem very rushed off their feet because there never seems to be enough of them to give the level of customer that matches the quality of the food. One thing that I have have also noticed more than once is that no matter how busy the waitresses are the proprietors always will just appear to stand around and not assist the Skelton front of house staff they have. The American Gentleman (cant remember his name) and the brunette Lady (Naomi I think I maybe wrong) are an absolute credit to the front of house though as they always appear to remain calm and professional under the pressure they appear to be put under.

Too many eateries in quaint, tourist locations offer poor food. Its as if they don't need to try too hard. The restaurant looked lovely. For a Sun, it wasn't very busy. The 4 of us all had different meals, with 3 choosing various roasts. Potatoes weren't very crispy and veg the usual plain, British way of cooking; we asked for another portion as a small bowl was inadequate for 3. The meat and gravy was plentiful and tasty, but a bit salty. No Yorkshire puds if not a beef roast. What really spoilt ut were the very young, inexperienced waitresses. Also, the puddings - apple crumble looked a Ness as it had been zapped to a soft pulp in microwave; was deducted from bill as it wasn't eaten. My chocolate brownie and 1 scoop of ice cream couldn't have been much smalker. That too had been overheated, making the texture break up rather than solid. Subday roasts were overpriced as is most places for food that isn't difficult to cook. 2 in my group said the young staff were sniggering after we com9lained about the puddings. The young American male staff was very cheery and proficient. Sadly, the young girl was our main server. Luckily, I realised she'd overcharged me by £5. Anyway, I gave her a 10% tip, and hopefully she'll improve. Living in very competitive, foodie Bristol UK, a place like this wouldn't survive.

Great breakfast and coffee. Service was amazing and the breakfast was beautifully served and was pipping hot. Restaurant was spotless and staff were very attentive. Would highly recommend.

After shopping and visiting the excellent market in Abergavenny we were in need of a good lunch. We opted for the Regency 59 as it looked cosy and inviting. The restaurant was warm and comfortable, and the tables generously spaced although close enough to be able to view the many different dishes ordered. Unfortunately we would have liked to have had the evening menu offered, but this was not an option so we settled for the curry on the lunchtime menu. My husband ordered the chicken curry and I ordered the vegetable curry and we shared the two. They were both very tasty and there was sufficient for the two of us to share and enjoy. We finished with a very tasty desert and were very pleased that we had chosen this restaurant. The staff were pleasant and efficient and the service was relaxed and polite. We were very pleased that we had chosen to eat here, and in fact we did return to this restaurant the following week and had a very good lunch of fish and chips. Two very good meals in a very pleasant ambiance.

Expensive and poor quality. Billed as authentic, but pretty sure sauce had tomato soup as base (if it didn't that's what it tasted like). Try elsewhere.

First time trying out the evening menu. highly recommend just beautiful. The starters, mains and sides were all very tasty and presented nicely. Good selection of non alcoholic drinks. Staff were attentive and well informed. Was an all around fantastic evening. We will be back soon.

Visited with my family for lunch. Staff were very attentive and food was lovely. We all had something different and we all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. My only negative point was a small table near the door which was clearly thick with dust, so a little more attention to detail needed there.

Excellent egg fried rice and the cheese naan was exquisite. Chicken Chennai to cardiff was out of this world. Staff were very attentive. We will visit again

It has a nice ambience, best located in the center of Abergavenny town center. Staff was friendly. Tried chicken lolypop, fish fry in starter and was below my expectations in taste. In main course I had Chennai to Cardiff chicken which was Chef recommended and garlic naan and I loved it. Wont mind going there again.

Well looked good waited ages for breakfast when It come sausages were hard and crispy they took them back brought more after 15 mins but was raw cost £23.50 complained but took no notice wat me said so I recomed you miss this place over priced and terrible food id give 0 out of 10

We walked in and were seated quickly. Greeted by staff and orders taken quickly. I had the ploughman’s lunch my wife had chicken and bacon sandwiches. Strange choice for November but both really good. We have booked to go back later for the festive menu can’t wait
