Having searched other pubs we decided to visit the Grofield as the Menu looked really appealing to us. We did not reserve a table we decided to just turned up and see what happens and I must say we were not disappointed,we were greeted by very friendly staff who were very attentive.there was certainly a good great atmosphere people that were there were all happy and enjoying themselves. They have a garden at the rear of the pub which was very beautiful, very clean and tidy,we choose to eat inside which was very nice. The food we had was amazing it was beautifully presented and tasted delicious. It was more than evident that the owners and all the staff take great pride in making sure we have a pleasurable experience. We had a perfect afternoon loved every minute and would highly recommend the Grofield to everyone. Amazing and thank you!

We stopped off here on our way home from climbing Pen Y Fan and on arrival, we were abruptly spoken to saying there was no room outside and only inside (we were more than happy for any table). After asking for a high chair for our baby, they said they don’t do high chairs, this was a real shame as our reason for stopping was to feed our baby. After reading the reviews that suggested a family atmosphere, I disagree. Unfortunately we left so I couldn’t comment on the food. I completely understand that people have bad days, but I felt the tone of voice was very unnecessary.

Lovely selection on the menu, catering for all dietary requirements. We had the daily special which was chicken breast in a spicy sauce with mushrooms and potatoes. Extremely tasty, well presented, very filing and great value for money. Staff were really friendly and welcoming. It was a sunny day so after eating we sat in the beautiful garden. Definitely would return.

Very nice pub in Abergavenny, went on a Wednesday evening so not busy but still had a nice atmosphere, the bar staff were friendly and chatty, and the food I ordered (haddock, chips and peas) was delicious. Definitely worth visiting for food or a pint if you're ever in Abergavenny.

Service quite good although at no time did anyone ask if everything was satisfactory. The selection of drinks was mainly keg beers and lagers, not great. The food was pretty awful, what seemed like oven chips, burger was a soggy bun with tasteless content. Lasagne was mince with some sauce and precious little pasta. A salad was just a pile of cheap lettuce leaves, undressed with lumps of tomato, cucumber and strangely orange. Not particularly expensive but would not need to be with the poor quality. I like to be positive in reviews but frankly struggled to be this time.

I booked a table here for a family group meeting for 5 people. We all travelled about 1 hour to get here from our respective homes. What a gem of a find! A small pub in the town centre, it really stood out from outside the building as bright, clean and well presented. We weren't disappointed inside either. We were welcomed as we came through the door, and the hospitality continued throughout our visit. The team at front of house were warm and friendly, the kitchen staff turned out some lovely home cooked food too. On the menu, there weren't too many choices. This is a good thing as it was a well chosen menu. There was something for everyone in our party, including one gluten intolerant person and one dairy-free. There are labels on the menu for persons with dietary restrictions, and all you have to do is ask the staff if you have a query. There were some really tasty choices on the menu, and all meals coming out of the kitchen were well presented. There were also smaller meal size options on the menu. That leaves room for a desert...well worth doing here. The dairy free member of our party declared the Chocolate Orange Brownie with plant-based ice cream as 'the best pudding she'd had in a very long time'. As I said previously, what a find! This is a pub we will definitely return to again when we meet up. Tip! - book a table. We saw quite a few people having to find somewhere else to eat.

A lovely pub with good food, and a vast selection of beers and drinks. Nice menu and the food was piping hot! Fabulous, welcoming staff. There is always the addition of a specials board. The owner Andrew went above and beyond to help us by taking us home when we couldn’t get a taxi. It also has a big modern beer garden. Not to be missed!

Another really enjoyable Sunday afternoon with our family. The Grofield is always a friendly place to come to and the Sunday Lunch menu is good quality and good value. Choose a traditional roast with all the trimmings, or something a bit different like a falafel platter or lasagne, and there's a menu for children, too. You won't be hurried, you won't be chivvied, but you will be made to feel at home.

This place came highly recommended but was such a disappointment. I ordered a steak and my partner, (Whitby?) scampi. Portion sizes were OK and the food was flavourful, but both our meals were cold when we were only halfway through them. We're not slow eaters and didn't indulge in a lot of conversation while eating, so the quick temperature drop wasn't down to us. Perhaps serving hot food on hot plates might help? The Merlot wine was excellent.

It’s a lovely location, right in the middle of Abergavenny with a perfectly placed car park nearby. Lovely beer garden, but inside seems a bit sparse in the interior decor department, some cushions, objet d’art and wall decorations, to distract you from the brown vinyl upholstery, maybe? Linguine was lovely, waitress great…fella lurking around the bar (manager?) had a face like a slapped arse, didn’t smile once when interacting with him. Cheer up love, part of customer service is acting like you’re pleased to see customers (obviously didn’t do drama in school).

Having recently moved to the area, my partner and I have made the Grofield Inn our local, despite it not being the closest pub to our house. We love the atmosphere and the food and drink. But most of all, we love the staff and their service - we are always made to feel welcome, and the staff are genuinely disappointed when we don't take our dog, Juniper, to the pub. Today, we had our first Sunday roast at the Grofield - 10/10.

Had Sunday lunch here, very tough, fatty beef, and the side order of cauliflower cheese was ridiculously hard. Then for dessert I ordered a fruit crumble, and to my disappointment the topping was just a crushed biscuit which was hard , and in no way resembled a traditional crumble. When I complained to the manager, he insisted that it ‘was a crumble’. I think he should revise what a crumble consists of before adding it to the menu.

It was warm and comfortable, and the staff were frequently on hand to bring our drinks, food and anything g else we needed. We had been concerned that the seating area would have been cold, but quite the opposite. I was wearing a t shirt and found it to be really comfortable. As for the food. It was really good.
