Stone Rock Pizza in Monmouthshire

Stone Rock was really disappointing this evening. Rubbish service. Really long wait for food- 40 mins. Pizzas were small (adult pizza barely larger than the children’s). Children’s pizza came with heavily salted chips: The family next to us played I-Spy for so long waiting for their food, they deserve a medal. I asked after 35 mins where my kid's pizza was and got zero apology and watched another mother do the same thing for her family later on. My mother in law gave polite feedback when asked, and the waitress blamed ‘big groups’- it was not busy. Ate at Pan e Vino a few days ago, cheaper, larger, tastier pizza, faster, MUCH better service.

Had a pretty good burger and fries. Not much atmosphere as it was late on a Sunday (Understandable) some background music would help. Felt a little bit rushed as staff wanted to finish and close up but no biggie, everyone was friendly. We enjoyed it and will definitely go back.

I have visited the place before and always had a good experience. Today we had to send the pizzas back as the side was raw. Staff was nice and remade it. Unfortunately it was no better. I was not comfortable to raise this concern again but ruined our experience.

It’s very nice. It’s got nice tables. The pizza is really good. The table service is really really quick and the staff are very friendly. They have got good music and a good atmosphere.

Arrived for an early dinner after a long day walking in the area. Seated and order taken for burger and chips by a polite young lady. We then WAITED! Another young waitress came and garbled an apology explaining that a large order had been placed that they had to fulfil first Unfortunately the wait was disappointing. The burger was thin and tasteless, accompanied by a very small portion of skinny fries Telephone orders obviously take priority over people actually sitting in the restaurant waiting for food

Really tasty pizzas, especially the Forest of Dean twist... it was something quite different but I liked the gamey tastes. Ordered the Capresi salad which was excellent. Their pesto is homemade, fresh and very more-ish. Thanks for the late reservation too!

Told there was a 15min wait .20mins before our order was taken, asked after approx 50 mins food arrived after we complained. Table next to us ordered , waited then walked out. Pizza was ok but will not return or recommend.

Stone Rock Pizza is the restaurant inside the First Hurdle Guest House in the centre of Chepstow. Booking is needed at busy times such as race days and weekends. Apology for an expected delay because we didn't book, but service did not feel slow. Friendly. Reasonable prices. Delicious thin-based pizza which is said to have won awards. Indoor seating and, where we sat, a covered outdoor area with heaters. Warm and an attempt at Mediterranean rustic with plants and imitation wicker. Short walk from the public car park.

Good pizza but terrible service. Took over 35 minutes after being given our menues for anybody to come and take our food order, we were just talking about leaving when somebody eventually came over despite us being seated inside and them having walked past numerous times. Food arrived promptly, table took a while to be cleared, asked if we wanted pudding, menu was bought over but again nobody came to take our order so after 20 minutes we gave up and left. Two other slight grumbles, £5 for a standard bowl of chips that look like the same as we buy from aldi is extortionate and the mojoito tasted like nothing more than sparkling water and had absolutely no garnish, surely it should contain at least some crushed mint? Difficult to complain when service was literally non existent. We won't come back which is a shame as the pizza is good..

Came with the missus for a pizza and a burger. Pizza was bland, and had a base like cardboard and was topped with substandard toppings Smash burger wasn’t a smash burger and was clearly a frozen cheap burger. Simple instructions for dietary requirements ignored. Pepsi served was flat. Do not recommend, rather disappointing for the “best pizzeria in wales” Not sure who voted for that, because I wouldn’t even give it to my dog. 0 stars, 0/10.

Absolutely gorgeous venue for functions or a meal iut as a family or with friends. The most delicious pizzas, the best I've had in a very long time. The staff are helpful and its a lovely atmosphere. I'll be back.

The food and drink here are great, service is speedy, and the woman who runs the show is a complete boss. If you are staying in Chepstow, come here.

Chepstow was gridlocked, we managed to park and found ourselves at Stone Rock. What a friendly welcome, a haven from the traffic. And the pizza, one with goats cheese and walnuts, was absolutely delicious - we ordered a second just so there was some left to take home. Thank you Stone Rock

Booked for a group of 10. Service from start to finish was excellent. Staff are friendly and welcoming. Food was amazing. My kids are asking to return ASAP to try other items from the menu (and I'm not going to argue with them!). Will definitely be back. Thank you for a lovely evening.

Brilliant place. Chilled atmosphere. Pizza's are spot in . Asked for mine well done and it was no problem. Son had a burger and said it was delicious. Very friendly staff . Highly recommended

The pizza was a Napolitan-style pizza, with soft and dough-y cornicione like the ones you can find in Italy. I like this style of pizza so I enjoyed it. The wait time was a bit long (30-40 mins) but we had been warned about it when we entered the pizzeria, so it was not a problem, we weren't in a hurry. I would have preferred the french fries to be brought out as soon as possible, while we waited for the pizza, but it's possible I didn't ask clearly enough to the waiter and waitress. The real plants in the back are a nice touch. If I was around there and wanted to eat pizza I would go there again for sure.

Waited over an hour for a pizza without being told that there would be a delay. Olivia lied to us and claimed that we had been advised when ordering yet the server, who was standing next to her confirmed that he had not done. Attitude was rude and belligerent and quite frankly unnecessary and inexplicable.

If you’re not fussy about customer service and are happy to take a packed lunch while you wait for your meal then this is a fantastic and really great place to go and I can recommend it above all others. Booked a table for four at 19:00 on a Friday night, it took ages to have our order taken and after 40 minutes asked where the pizzas were. Was told they had a large table in the terraced area and they would be another 15 minutes. Decided to start my stopwatch a while later and the pizzas eventually arrived after 20 minutes on the stopwatch; ergo over an hour for a pizza. We have been going here for over five years now and this is the longest that I have ever had to wait anywhere, ever, for a pizza. Also asked for my egg to be runny and it was murdered. Took it up at the counter and ended up speaking with Olivia who is tragically unaware that she has zero customer care skills. Told me that the server should not have agreed to my egg being runny as the egg goes in at 385˚ with the Pizza. Really? Pizza Express have been serving me runny eggs for over 30 years now without any problem. How about bringing the pizza out and then putting the egg in at the end – oh sorry I forgot, Stone Rock Pizza don’t do rocket science. It seems that they can’t get the staff with more than one brain cell. Olivia should run a masterclass in mendacity, denial, aggression and belligerence and proudly and defiantly told me that we hadn’t waited an hour; it was only 57 minutes. Oberleutnant Olivia then lied to me and told me that we had been told there was a delay when we had our order taken even though our server, who was standing next to her, confirmed that we had not been told that there was a delay. Clearly Olivia’s psychic powers were weak that day or she must have had wax in her ears that impaired her eavesdropping skills. It never ends well when businesses argue with customers, split hairs or worse, lie to them. Eventually when Olivia realised that I was not going to accept her disrespectful and belligerent attitude she opened the front door and asked us to leave. Another masterclass in how not to resolve a situation! This I did and once outside in the street heard all the staff clapping and cheering. That really says it all, the staff applaud a masterclass in how not to treat a customer with a valid point to make. Seems like Stone Rock encourage their staff to be dismissive to customers. We all have two ears and one mouth and Olivia was more bad mouth than good ears, had she been working for me she would now be the proud owner of a P45. Stone Rock is now top of my list of places to never go to again. Five stars for a complete lack of service – nice one Olivia

£6.00 for a pint of lager. £3.50 for a glass of draught coke filled with half an iceberg. Never again.

I've eaten many pizzas around Italy and the USA but the pizza I had here tonight was not only the best in Wales but the best I've ever had anywhere. Lovely attentive and knowledgeable staff, delicious food and great service. It within 20-30 miles it's a must visit

Three of us popped in for an early evening pizza which we all enjoyed. The Hot One was just fine for me and I shared sweet potato fries with my friend. Perhaps more pepperoni as an option might be good but perhaps there was and I missed it. Some of the furniture was looking a bit worn and repaired. Excellent and friendly service and cost effective!

Discovered this place by accident when we stayed in the hotel above it. We've been back a few times since and pizza has been really good every time.

Food was fantastic, service was excellent even though it was quite busy given that a lot of people were in town. Thank you so much to Emma and Olivia especially for giving such great service. Shoutout to the chefs for the great margarita and diavola. My friend and I enjoyed it so much could not be more pleased :)))

Best place in the world and is my favourite restaurant, The staff are amazing and I come here every week! We got a large pizza and kids meal for £ 10. and it is better than dominoes

The good - service was quick, friendly and attentive, really nice people. The patio in back was a very pleasant space. The bad - the food. The salad was just a bowl of lettuce out of a bag, nothing else and no dressing. I'm not sure it had even been rinsed, it was quite gritty. The pizza was burned on the bottom and doughy and undercooked on top. Maybe it was an off night or the oven was set at the wrong temperature? Maybe the chef was new? If I were local I would probably give it another chance.

Can’t say anything redeeming about our experience. The gluten free pizza was probably the worst I’ve ever experienced. Not sure it was fully cooked as the courgette topping still seemed raw. The pizza sauce was incredibly bland too as were the ingredients for our capreze starter. The whole thing was especially disappointing as the prices aren’t cheap and they claim to be wales’ best pizzeria! Waiting staff were attentive and polite but the manager was very unprofessional and vented her stresses loudly from behind the bar.

Birthday lunch on Saturday with family. Party of 8 from 1 year to 80. Everyone was catered for. Very amenable staff. Moving us to the covered outside area when requested. Everyone had pizza and they all arrived within minutes of each other. Lots of vegetarian choices. Everybody agreed - delicious. Crispy base, perfect topping amounts. Even the child's pizza is a mini version, perfect for granma and the 10 year old!

Fabulous olives and pizza....Will def travel to savour the food at the best little find for yummy pizza. Loved the owner' s lovely easy and friendly personality....

Terrible service we waited an hour for a pizza to arrive as did other tables whilst they were churning out their take away orders. When it did arrive it was unexceptional. The waiter told me our pizza was in the oven but it clearly wasn't as we were still waiting 20 minutes later. There were a number of other customers also expressing their frustrations. Won't be going again.

Must be the worst pizzza I have ever had served in a charmless room with warm drinks by a harassed overworked waitress. Sign outside clams it’s award winning, must have been a very very long time ago as our meal was horrendous

Amazing food! Firstly, the pizzas are to die for. Big range of toppings including a variety of cheeses and meat options. They also have a few vegan options. Secondly, the burgers are sooo good!! First time having a smashed burger and it does not disappoint. EDIT: Came here again last week, and this review is still entirely accurate

Fantastic pizza - definitely try the honey mead!

Amazing experience, customer service was on point we were served by a lovely young lady who checked on us regularly and another lady who seemed to be the manager who was very friendly and welcoming. The food was delicious and arrived in good time we went for the forest of dean and the stone rock star burger and it was obvious the food was freshly prepared. The atmosphere of the restaurant was very warm and welcoming and lovely decor. The total experience was 10/10 no faults what so ever and we will definitely be returning. So glad to see a local business thriving.

This is a 100% honest review celebrated a birthday here. After reading the hype about how amazing it was thought we would go here and try it out, we booked in advance very glad we did as the restaurant was full. Greeted by such a warm welcome and friendly staff. First thing to note was how the place looked it was rustic and very nice and calming, tables well spaced out in an old building that creates a very nice atmosphere. Now the menu mainly pizza obviously they have a lovely selection, veggie and vegan options are well caterd for gluten free options also. It was great to note the first question from our server was are does anyone have any dietary requirements it was so reassuring. When our food came it looked amazing but tasted even better. This is the best pizza I've tasted in my life so fresh with local sourced ingredients the left my taste pallet blown away. I can't fault anything about this place if you want to try the best pizza in the world in my opinion then go here. To summarise the price is great the quality is outstanding and the staff are amazing.

Visited tonight for my first time. I had the goats cheese and walnut pizza, with a total of 4/5 little tiny squares of goats cheese smothered with tinned cheap mushrooms followed by brownie sundae which was a real let down. For £8 this consisted of some cold brownie squares chopped up with a minisule amount of icecream and cheap squirty cream, certainly not worth £8, not at all appealing. Service was very slow and all we heard all evening was the bully of a woman, not sure if she was the manager (dark hair in a bun on top), belittling the younger staff members and arguing with others. Not really what you expect to have to listen to as a paying customer.I’d I was one of those young girls, I’d have told her to stick the job. Was asked at least 6 times over the course of our meal if everything was okay, which was far too excessive…..once is enough!

We discovered this pizza restaurant on our arrival on Friday night. Very good pizzas with interesting toppings using good local ingredients, I had the Forest of Dean with wild boar salami and venison carpaccio. Good sized pizzas, cooked to order. Friendly service and a good bar with real cider and some local ales

Absolutely wonderful experience. We came on short notice but still got wonderful service. The staff were great coming regularly to check we were comfy. And the burger at just over £15 was amongst the very best I've had. Thumbs up to whomever was at the bar, one of the very few times I got a cocktail I actually enjoyed.

Got a Margherita pizza, and it blew us away! We even compared it to the pizza we had in Naples… it was that good 👍🏼

Have eaten here twice. Both times pizza was mediocre. So much cheese the pizza was chewy and squeeky, and the tomato sauce tastes like it's straight from a can. Not my favourite.

A great place to eat! Good portions of very tasty food, cooked to order, including a kids pizza menu. They have an awesome pizzas oven and the pizzas are absolutely fantastic. Nice relaxed interior, good amount of space including some comfy booths. It also has a guest house attached which was very popular when we were there. Highly recommend, especially if you like a pizza or burger.

absolutely delicious. staff are very friendly and helpful and we had a delicious meal here. pizzas are large and absolutely worth the minimal price they ask for. i loved the dirty hawaiian. no complaints about the bruschetta either. would absolutely recommend and will come back again and again.

If you are looking for some great pizzars and a glass of wine in a nice welcoming restaurant in the Forest of Dean / Chepstow area, then this is the place to try. The pizzas are great, with a good range of choices, including Gf options. Friday and the weekend some very decent burgers are on the menu. Staff are always very hospitable and attentive.

First time ordering from Stone Rock for a little while and we were disappointed! The fantastic pizzas we were used to have been changed. They were dominated with a thick layer of mozzarella, rather than the scattering of fresh ingredients we used to get. La Cabra Loca used to be an unbeatable favourite but it's just turned into a cheesy mess. I really hope this was just a bad night because we won't be hurrying back.

Only ever ordered for takeaway/collection, but inside always seems busy too which is a good sign! Lovely staff. Pizza always tasty, still hot when we get home, and ready on time, tonight we got a call saying they could bring it forwards if it suited us which was perfect because we definitely got hungry quicker than we expected when ordering! 😅 Everything we've ordered so far we would do again, customisation options are quite expensive but the menu is so varied it's never really needed anyway!

Had an 80th bday party last night. 15 in the party. It turned out to be a unexpectantly very busy night for the staff and to be fair they coped admirably. Ok the service was a bit slow but they were great. Thankyou for a great evening.

Food was wonderful and they were really accommodating for my 2 year old. Even called us on our way home to let us know we had left some toys behind! Best pizza we have had in a long time and really friendly and welcoming staff - cannot wait to come back!

Over rated , pizza was over cooked ,tough ,chewy , pepsi was flat , beer was warm , no atmosphere, restaurant was cold , people smoking right out side the door not there fault I know but stank , service very slow although there was a large party , will not be returning will not recommend,

Pizza is generally good quality but... I am a bit baffled by Stone Rock - why do they offer so many fancy toppings at the expense of better selling more familar ones? Apart from a margherita you will not recognise any of the pizzas and the fancy ones are adventurous but confused. Please offer more standard flavours - pepperoni, quattro formaggi etc! I would certainly go more often

Arrived and had to wait 10 mins to be shown to a table further wait for another 20 minutes before drinks order taken. Food arrived swiftly we only had mains and was tasty but then took ages to get the bill sorted whilst the one waitress working cleared empty tables! Had to take the bill to the bar in order to pay and again another wait to pay Customer service was very poor won’t be going back

Ordered online for collection…good communication wen ordered… Picked up food,good service.. Bought home ordered two pizzas and two fries…fries were soft and soggy,had to put in air fryer to crisp up,pizza didn’t stay warm for long.. Cost expensive..£38 for two pizzas and fries… It was a treat won’t be ordering again for a while..

We took our dog with us and ate in the garden/conservatory. Our dog was given a warm welcome by all the staff, the food was delicious (and the pizza toppings just a bit unusual which was lovely) and the service was fast and friendly.

The awards and reviews are well deserved, the pizzas are high quality with lots of interesting combinations on the menu. Staff were friendly and accommodating and the garden area is lovely.

OK - I'll be honest. I'm not usually a pizza person. I normally think of pizza as highly overrated. I know that will make some people want to have an online scrap with me but it's just something that I've always felt. The nail was firmly hammered in the coffin when I went to some award-winning pizza place in London thinking I was going to change my mind and left thinking "that was alright". However, Stone Rock Pizza puts my opinions on pizza to shame. For the first time in my life, I actually get cravings for pizza. But not just pizza, specifically Stone Rock's delicious Viva Espana 2.0 from their new menu - salsa verde base, local mozzarella, king prawn, chorizo, ricotta, lemon infused olive oil & spring onion. Such a wonderful flavour combination that is addictive. Food aside, you also have to applaud Stone Rock Pizza's wonderful customer service. The last 2 times I've come here I was served by Mia who was very helpful and attentive. The outside seating area is also beautiful, quaint, and perfect on a warm summer day. --- If you're anything like me and you've had reservations about pizza in the past, I wouldn't let that stop you from giving Stone Rock a try. Order the Viva Espana 2.0 and trust me, you won't regret it.

Lovely outdoor seating area with good tunes, friendly staff and tasty food. Gluten free pizza base was decent. A little bit pricey, especially drinks. Paid £4.5 for a flat white and got a cappuccino.
