The best restaurants in Butetown Cardiff South Wales

A friend and I resently went for a meal before seeing a musical. From the outset, the staff were not friendly, wasn't greeted with a 'hello' and generally miserable throughout. Even another couple in an opposite table were saying the same. We didn't stay for desert/coffee, instead we left and went to another restaurant! We didn't have a goodbye, thank you or any acknowledgement leaving.Will not be visiting again. Cheer up staff!!!

We stayed for 3 nights in a double room on the 6th floor. The room was large and roomy with a view looking out towards Cardiff Bay. The bed was very comfortable. Really appreciated having a sofa in the room, heated towel racks in the bathroom and complementary bathrobes for use during our stay. In comparison some of the more expensive hotel chains will give you nothing except a bed and if you're lucky a single chair unless you book an executive room or suite. The bathroom at the Future Inn could do with a general upgrade but there were no issues that prevented us from enjoying our stay. Exceptional service by the weekend breakfast team at Thomas restaurant, many thanks especially to Jawaad and Abdur Rahman. Free parking is a big plus point of the Future Inn, whereas other hotels in Cardiff will rip you off by charging £18-£25 p/d for parking. Will definitely return here the next time we come to Cardiff.

Bottomless brunch was fantastic. Great cocktails and superb service from our attentive server, Oliwia. We went for a hen do bottomless brunch and would highly recommend it. Cardiff Bay was a great location as well.

We popped in on the off chance. 1830hrs midweek… It was very busy… Such a warm welcome and within minutes the manager escorted us to a table.. We both opted for the set menu , Two courses.. I’m gluten free.. The manager provided a separate all gluten free menu… We opted for the steak frite. With a carafe of red.. All the staff including the manager were excellent. Thank you…

I stayed here at start of May with my 2-year-old daughter and was shocked by the noise from a loud wedding party that went on until midnight. We weren’t informed about how late this event continued to ahead of time, and the staff didn’t offer help until I insisted. We had to move rooms very late at night, which was stressful and unpleasant with a toddler. The most unacceptable part: I submitted a formal complaint and want to discuss a way to resolve this, but it has been over a month and I’ve received no reply at all. Zero acknowledgment. I’m extremely disappointed not just by the lack of consideration during the stay, but by the complete disregard for follow-up. This is not a family-friendly hotel, and based on my experience, the management does not take guest feedback seriously. I would not recommend staying here to anyone expecting basic respect or accountability.

We placed our food order… and received it 40 minutes later! Not because it was crafted with gourmet precision, but because, apparently, the owner refuses to hire enough staff. Huge applause to the team who spent two hours running around like ants — juggling roles as waiter, cashier, barista, and probably therapist too. Their multitasking deserves a medal (or at least a break). Dear owner, your staff are incredible, but they’re not superheroes. Please consider hiring more people so that customers can enjoy the food and the experience without needing to check their watches (or grow a beard) waiting. To the manager reading this — thank you. Kindly pass this message along to the boss… preferably with a plate of food — and not 40 minutes later!

£3.90 for two cans of diet coke to take away, £4.90 for a mocha coffee to go.... that's definitely overpriced.

The food at Zizzis always delivers and never disappoints - the only issue is knowing what to choose as there's so much on the menu! The staff at Cardiff Bay were amazing and very attentive. I would definitely recommend.

Popped in for a burger today on the way past. The guy with glasses who normally works at Newport road was working here today. Really friendly guy, seemed to be working on his own but was coping without issue, top guy

The food was excellent — my steak was cooked perfectly, and everything tasted great. However, I found the service a bit off-putting. Izzie, our server, sat down at our table while taking our order, which felt intrusive and a little too informal for my comfort. Additionally, she came across as somewhat unapproachable, not smiling or acknowledging us with a thank you.

Definitely closed today. Closed while CB station being upgraded.

Good food. Been meaning to try for a while. There’s quite a few dishes I wanted to try, so I’ll have to go back! I got the “saliva chicken” because I hadn’t seen it on a menu around here for a while. Delicious! Also opted for the cucumber salad and some plain rice. Salad was nice and fresh and the rice was fluffy and perfectly cooked. Staff were helpful and friendly. Prices are pretty fair in my opinion, too.

Once again, excellent service from the staff, great food.

The Christmas lights switch-on event at Lo Lounge was magical. The lights set the perfect holiday mood, while the Christmas stalls offered unique gifts and treats. We indulged in tasty hot chocolates and fantastic food, making for a great evening. The friendly staff created a warm, welcoming atmosphere all wearing their Christmas Jumpers and the big screen showing Home Alone inside added a nostalgic and cozy touch.
