Great views of the bay from inside or the first floor terrace. Loads of space over two levels and interesting as it has a new section attached to a historic dock building. Good option for food or drink in the bay at reasonable prices and good beer selection

Big place with two floors and a nice balcony on the top floor. Food is hit or miss and the drinks, atmosphere, decor and clientele is typical of what you’d expect from a Wetherspoon pub.

Great experience here, the staff were very friendly, the venue was clean and it was not a noisy environment. The food we ordered came quickly and was a good standard. The wetherspoons app makes it very easy to order. The only slight issue with this restaurant is the toilet is upstairs, so if you're far away from the stairs sat downstairs, it could be an issue for some.

Worst Wetherspoons experience I have ever had! Chips were undercooked. Chicken burger tasted like rubber and was so hard I left it as was inedible. My husband ordered a side of bread and butter with his fish and chips and they brought out curry instead (rather different choice). Asked for mayo to be told they didn’t have any, only to see about 20 bottles when I went upstairs to use the toilet. Therefore clearly just too lazy to go upstairs. My mum asked a question about whether the chicken strips were chicken breast and the staff member was rude and wouldn’t ask the kitchen. Ordered hot chocolate fudge cake and it came out cold. The toilets were absolutely disgusting and in desperate need of a clean. Needless to say we will not be returning.

Popped here with my sister and our children after techniquest. Lots of food and drink to choose from at great prices, decent portions, arrived hot and very quickly. Staff were brilliant with the kids and really interacted with them. Thank you for making what could be a very stressful meal mid summer holidays into a lovely evening.

A family bite to eat in Cardiff Bay and prior to everyone going to see Becky Hill. The food was delicious with the new menu bit sad to see some old classics gone like mixed grill.

As you would expect it to be...it was busy. Managed to get a table for 9 upstairs on the mezzanine. Ordered via the app and it was quick and efficient for the drinks. Slight hiccup on food but it was quickly rectified with clear communication from out waiter. Only point of disappointment was the size of the portions really. The burgers was more like kid sizes or McDonald's hamburger sizes. Chip portions we also pretty small and glad I ordered an additional plate for the kids. Pizza was good. One down side was cutlery was dirty.

Ordered food for 2 with drinks, lovely food and decent staff at first. Went back an hour later then was kicked out of the beer garden because we had our dog. Was too embarrassed to tell him I was disabled as there was many customers around and had my assistant dog with me. Never again! And spent a good amount on drink, was served with no isssue with my dog at first. Absolute idiot.

Best Guinness I’ve ever had in a spoons

Sunny day so great time to visit here as its right on Cardiff bay. Pub was clean and had a nice atmosphere. Our order arrived promptly and food was great. Perfect fish in crispy batter and tasty burger, both with chips. Food was a nice size portion and nice and warm. All in all a great visit. Staff were very attentive and efficient. We parked across the road in a multistorey car park.

1. We had to eat with someone else's crap still all over our table, staff cleaned most of it and never came back for the rest. 2. By the time we had our drinks, we'd already eaten. I had to get up to chase my drinks. 3. Place is absolutely rammed, and everything is sticky. Had to stand around and wait for a seat as people steal them to fit their group of 13 around a table. Leaving tables with no chairs. Not even the tables are wiped over between customers. I feel for the staff that don't have a moment to breath or think. Never again.

A lesser range of beers than most Weatherspoons but an interesting building and staff above the usual standard of Weatherspoons. I would probably put this in my favourite top three favourite Weatherspoons, mostly down to the staff.

Visit early evening Friday 9/8. A group of four..Had drinks on the upper balcony....Great views....Stowford Press Cider spot on...Later, I had fish,chips & mushy peas....my wife a cheeseburger special.....both meals were plentiful and well prepared ...A great pub in a cracking location....

Cold halloumi fries. Staff were not interested in helping customers - merely pointing in the general direction and letting you search for yourself.

The staff here are always amazing. They don’t stop for a second. There just needs to be more of them because they don’t have time to clean tables. Special shoutout to the young ginger lad (sorry I didn’t catch his name) working upstairs the other night. He went above and beyond with his service and is an asset to the company. Never any issues with the food. I tried the fish for the first time the other day and it was top quality. The balcony is such a great spot to spend an evening.

Popped in while passing some time waiting in Cardiff Bay . Had a large breakfast, it was okay, nothing special usual food from Spoons......say no more. Drinks were great as usual and nice ambience.

Food is terrible ok it's cheaper than others but that doesn't mean you can over cook stuff in the microwave.

Visited the JDW for a bite to eat before going to the theatre nearby for a matinee performance ... Very busy but the staff were coping very well under the circumstances ... Will use again when going to the theatre again

Typical Weatherspoons offering! Fine for a few drinks on an early summer's evening!

A lovely setting to enjoy a pint and probably a meal too I would think - but unfortunately because we are "scum dog owners", we weren't even allowed to enjoy a pint outside. Had to resort to a baked slice containing steak from another retailer who didn't object to our lovely dog being outside their premises. Shameful that I can go pretty much anywhere else in Europe and enjoy a pint in a bar or restaurant with our well behaved dog. I won't be bothering with Wetherspoons ever again.

Always good in service, food quality and ambience. Not the usual heritage building but steel and concrete to blend in with the surrounding developments.

Witnessed 2 ladies with a greyhound breed dog get asked to leave by a member of staff, when there were previously 2 large dogs sat outside with a family prior to their arrival, the lady and company left with no fuss and another family arrived with 2 large dogs seconds later, Members of staff did not ask them to leave. Few people did mention to members of staff about this, as unfair situation, as the greyhound was tucked out of the way and well behaved... the 2 that are currently here keep letting out a bark here are there. I do no understand how this is fair. Why is it one rule for one and another for the next person? Because its a family spending more money?? As thats the only difference I see with this....

Great place with great views over Cardiff Bay, especially on the 2nd level balcony which does have a lift to access for those interested. Food is OK and for the price you can go wrong. 3 meals, 3 beers £30 .. Bargain

I just rated a different restaurant experience that was heavily impacted by the server…I’ll do the same here. Saturday morning breakfast…the day after the night before. I ordered eggs Benedict rather than the veggie mushroom version. 100% my error. When I said to the young server I made an error, could he ask the chef to take off the meat as I’m veggie….he said “let me ask if we can get you a fresh one instead”. They did! Even though this was 100% my error, they cooked me a fully fresh version. They didn’t have to, the server didnt even have to offer….but he wanted to do well and cared. I said on a different review “service matters”. It does, and this place knows this.

Food was cheap but nice for the money it cost, service was alright but seemed like they weren't interested. Everything is fairly priced and a short wait time for food. Very nice

I'm not a regular customer in Weatherspoons, this was my first visit for about 4 years. There was a group of 10 of us, we walked in sat down, everything works like clockwork, ordering from the table worked really well. Good food, good beer at good prices.

Hot fresh generous breakfast, eaten in the sunshine indoors or out. Roughly £10 with a refillable hot drink. 8am opening makes this a good place for an early breakfast, especially in the summer sun.

This is a nice pub, quieter than the city centre ones, tiny bit more expensive but worth it, sat upstairs and it was pretty quiet.

Had food a couple of times here recently. Weather was good enough to sit outside....breakfast once on a Sunday and a Saturday afternoon late lunch, food was fine, staff were really good. All good, views are great and atmosphere was chilled..,..nice

Place wasn't cleaned properly from the night before... Confetti still on our seats, table also sticky.

Food was good but we were not given the peas which is a big NO-NO cause we paid full price. The service is BAD. I wouldnt even give the service a star because the service is HORRIBLE. I remember one of staff's face who served us badly. We already told him that we wanted takeaways only but then he kicked out one of my friends because she doesnt bring her ID. Our food is just fish and chips. Like chill bro. Hes not even polite, hes basically the epitome of rudeness. You should checked and managed your staff well. OR its just mannerism. This is my first time going to Cardiff as a tourist to visit my friend and I wouldnt come back to this place again. I wouldnt even recommend this place to anyone. Regardless, hope you see this review and reflect. Thank you.

Accidentally ordered food to the wrong table on day of England match, I did feel awful and I approached a team leader named Sim he was absolutely amazing, corrected mistakes for us and even gave us an extra bowl of onion rings as the chef put the portion on a plate with a meal. Very quick to deal with things and very approachable, would 100% visit again. Loved the atmosphere of the staff particularly Sim, service and was amazing and food was definitely worth my money

Just had a plain burger. Perfectly ok. Friend had very small fish and chips. Prices good but probably would prefer to have tried somewhere more "local".

We loved sitting on the terrace in the afternoon sunshine with a good San Miguel beer. We had pizza and it was very good and the ordering through the app is a bonus, staff were great and the toilets were clean.

A good Pub with happy polite staff. A good selection of beer, but not all were available. Food was typical Spoons fair, it was hot and well presented. The pub and toilets were clean and tidy. On street parking available but may incur a cost. Wheelchair access down stairs.

This is a really nice wetherspoons, it's a perfect location for a sunny day out. There is a nice sized outside seating area and a lovely view from the balcony upstairs. The service was good, so was the selection of drinks at a very affordable price as well. The food was okay but tasted like it had been sat under a heater for a while. An odd smell in here, stale ketchup and cooking oil. Attracted a group of pub crawl lads, made it a bit uncomfortable for a while. Looked and felt unfinished .

I understand Saturdays are a very busy day, but the cleanliness and table clearing need a lot to be desired.

Visited fot food and drinks on a sunny Saturday afternoon. Was extremely busy on all floors inside and out, which is to be expected on a sunny day. Drinks were being served (via the app) after about 20 mins. Food was over an hour wait. Kinda expected it, but have been in other busy wetherspoons and not experienced that kind of wait. Staff seemed overwhelmed. Incredibly busy. Food was tidy, typical wetherspoons fare.

One of the 1st sunny Saturdays so, the place was heaving! Atmosphere was kids canteen meets cattle market - simply awful with filthy uncleared tables everywhere. Food, appalling. My burger was literally stone cold. I complained, politely. They replaced it within 60 seconds with a double burger that I suspect was from someone else’s order rather than freshly cooked for me as I only ordered / wanted a single burger! The replacement was also stone cold. The only saving grace - the staff. All young and a credit to their generation. Polite p, hard working & helpful. Came back to check replacement meal was okay, it wasnt but they were so pleasant I didn’t make a fuss. Particular mention for Chase - he has management potential, a truly standout employee.

Good place to have a drink at the end of the day. Nice atmosphere between the English who came for an afterwork drink and the onlookers after a walk on the pier. Good choice of beers and ciders. A lot of people.

This place has a nice view and plenty of open space to enjoy the summer evenings. Unlike other Wetherspoons I have been to, this one is huge. There is a lot of rush though. But, this was the only place where We could get a table out of all the restaurants in Mermaid Quay.

Just had drinks to enjoy the view. Very boozy place, loud and busy. Managed to get a high table upstairs at the window which was nice.
