The best restaurants in Angus Central Scotland

Centrally located, big hotel, great service and food. Rooms are dated and need of some TLC in some places.

This was the worst chinese food I've had in a long time,Special Chow Mein was awful,sweet and sour chicken quite nice fried rice awful,was like a solid block in the container

Regularly use the Yang sing and the food is always amazing

Ordered a korma after trying other places and not enjoying them, this was only korma iv been able to enjoy in a long time.

Late night dessert stop, great, friendly service and happy to put up with our indecision. Will definitely be back...

Visited with family as they had been recommended by friends. Huge menu and staff were very friendly and polite. Food was exceptional and all at a very good price. Great experience and would definitely recommend a visit.

If you like salt & sugar then eat here

Gorgeous battered chicken fillets and a fresh fillet of fish. The service was superb and the quality of the food was second to none. We even managed to get a portion of scraps. Best fish and chips we’ve both had in a long time and reasonably priced in comparison to Aberdeen.

We turned up at the restaurant without booking a table and we kindly asked for a table for 4 (2 adults and 2 young kids). We got such a dirty look from a member of staff and he clearly huffed to check if there was any availability, the place had a lot of tables. We walked straight out as we felt so unwelcome we had to leave. We will never enter this restaurant again.

My husband and I stayed here in 2015 and I returned with my parents in August 2024- both times were lovely. The large lodge was as wonderful- very comfortable, well-equipped, and warm, and an excellent base for wonderful walks. Food in the pub was lovely, and service is friendly, warm, and kind. I hope to be back sooner rather than later!

Only giving one star as I can’t give less!!. The only thing in its favour is the location

Good communication to customers and good food.

As the season narrows, it’s appropriate to say thank you before they have their very well deserved break in January & February. I have been a regular in the restaurant all summer and can’t recommend higher than 5 stars, or I would. Margaret and her team offer the warmest of welcomes, the most special part of that is the authenticity behind it. She has picked the most customer centric team who greet you with a smile, serve fantastic food and represent the castle to the highest possible standard. Thank you and I look forward to next year. Had a hot chocolate & a fruit scone today. The scone was nice but the hot chocolate was the worst I’ve ever had. It was watery I think it was made with water not milk. For the price I would have expected better.
