The Giddy Goose in Angus

Saturday lunch for two. Town centre location and attractive entrance should get the punters in easily. However, the menu lacks any imagination, and when the food arrives, it’s a big disappointment. It’s very difficult to get fish and chips wrong when the peas and the chips come from the freezer. At least deep-fried fish should turn out with a crispy coating – sadly not so… Instead congested with Oil and overcooked. Overpriced and could do a lot better.

What can I say, below average food at way above average prices. The kids chicken nuggets were absolutely swimming in horrible yellow/green grease, The kids pizza was dry and crispy. The og hot dog was a tad overcooked. The desserts were basic, however the sticky toffee pudding had a sour aftertaste. Really disappointed given the price which did not reflect actually what I would expect to see for over £60 worth of food.

Went for a meal with my family and we were so disappointed. Portion sizes were all different our cabbage was cold my son in law asked if he could have the apple chutney instead of horseradish with his beef which he did get but 3 of us had chicken and they gave us horseradish instead of the apple chutney which we should of got....they served all the adults with their desserts 10 mins before the children's desserts, the brownies was supposed to come with a compote but was served with the same toffee sauce as the sticky toffee, one of the sticky toffee puddings was twice the size of the other one....we were all very disappointed with the meal it looked and tasted awful. We had our dog with us and we had to ask 4 times for a bowl of water for her, the staff spent more time wandering around on phones rather than seeing to the customers..Can safely say we wont be back very disappointed on the whole and price wise it wasnt worth it

Staying at Lochside for a few days walked into town just for snack. Nearly everywhere closes at 3pm then reopens later. Came across The Giddy Goose. We just wanted something small so decided on the Sharer/starter thinking they’d be small. Well OMG the portions were big and delicious. The waitress explained that they may a wee it longer as the chicken we chose takes longer to cook. The service was excellent and very friendly staff. Would definitely go back when in area. Liked the music they were playing too.

Spur of the moment - let’s go in for some breakfast & a catch up! Been in lots of times & enjoy the food here. Music was very loud when we entered @ 10 am in the morning - we were the only two in so asked the waitress if she could turn it down as we wanted to chat & actually hear each other !! Still very loud - spoilt our breakfast & our catch up time - strange that they couldn’t accommodate us after all we were the only ones in !! Decided to message the Dundee branch to update them but no one responded- phoned them today but again no one returned the call !!

We mention two times my wife is vegetarian when we was ordering food and we order salad but we asked to be meat free version. They bring it with no chicken but with bacon in it. After we tell them they took it away and my wife decide she is alright with chips only. I was shocked when we recieve the bill with that salad included. I didn’t want to argue in the front of my family so i just payed the bill. It was busy day and i guess staff was struggling to keep up. To give justice i need to mention staff was actually nice and trying their best but i dont think i will go there again.

It was my husband's long overdue return tobthectown of his birth, and after a good walk around for him to soak up the memories, we opted for lunch here as it was close to the bus stop for the trip back to Dundee. We opted for the stone baked pepperoni pizza to share, which we both enjoyed. To accompany it we ordered a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc, but didn't check the price with waitress. Finished our meal and drinks, hubby went to the loo before we got on the bus, and I paid for the meal with his card. On the bus home we were talking about the meal, and the cost of it. My husband was astonished to find we had been charged £45,25 for our lunch. £13.25 for the pizza and £32.00 for the wine. When got back to our hotel, I phoned tge Giddy Goose and spoke to Amber who advised that the wine price was correct, £32.00, despite me telling her that I had looked online to find the wine was priced at £22.70. Amber insisted that the £32.00 was the price and that the bill was correct. To add insult to injury, I didn't receive a receipt, so have no proof of what we bought. So if you go to the Giddy Goose, make sure you pay the price displayed in the menu, and also receive an itemised bill for your meal. £32.00 for a bottle of lunch to go with a pizza is more than a bit much, and it left a bad taste in the mouth on a day which should have been remembered for the pleasant memories, not for an overpriced bottle of wine. Very disappointed, especially since arriving home, I can't access their drinks menu to check.

Giddy goose use open table. It’s let me book when it’s been closed twice and not informed me. I contacted giddy last night and was gaslit. I was told it happened three times because of open table yet when spoke to someone else it was told this wasn’t true. I find out on fb this morning it happened to someone else also. Bad service giddy. Lost custom.

Booked a meal for a works night out, a delayed Christmas event, booked online as I’m not local with no trouble. Got a confirmation text the day before, all good. Day of meal get a call and text to say that the restaurant is actually closed and can’t fulfill the booking. A glitch in their system but we could book their other restaurants in a different town.

Food was excellent but the service was poor. The starters and main course all arrived at once which was a bit confusing. The restaurant also is not heated and quite cold which was noticed by everyone in our party.

Popped in for an impromptu lunch and was very pleased. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Service was prompt. A good variety on the menu and quite a few less usual items to choose from. Helpings were good and the food was delicious.

My daughter treated me to lunch yesterday at the Giddy Goose Forfar. I ordered ham and lentil soup which I only ate half of as it was so salty and there was certainly no ham in it. There was 1 slice of extra thick bread which was stale. I also ordered sandwich with fish finger which was in same thick bread which was dried out at ends. Only ate fish fingers. Served with this was coleslaw which was not fresh as was so watery. I came from Arbroath to Forfar for a change but would not return here. You need to up your game if you want customers. And it wasn't cheap.

Went for a meal with my friends and ordered the crispy chicken flat bread, when it arrived I could smell fish and I was confused as to why. I cut open the chicken to see if it was cooked. They had served me fish. I do not eat fish and was horrified to see I was served it. Luckily I don’t have an allergy to sea food or it could have been far worse. I told the staff and they got me a “new” one but they had just swapped out the fish for chicken placing it back onto the same flat bread that had fish residue on it meaning some bites tasted fishy! The staff apologised but I was still charged in full, for a meal I couldn’t eat due to the bread tasting like fish. It’s hard to make a ‘fuss’ when you are out with friends but I feel like they should have automatically done a gesture of good will or something. Very disappointed especially as I had recommended we go there for our meal.

It's a really nice place to eat. I've sat inside and out and it's always clean and tidy. Service has been excellent every visit.

We only use restaurant , it was quite busy but we wasn't waiting for food to long , service was very nice all the stuff super friendly and smiling all the time . Food was very nice and massive portions. Can't say anything about inside the restaurant we was sitting in the garden.

We have been to Giddy Goose a few times when visiting Murton Farm. Usually, on Saturday afternoons with our toddler. Great place and hearty food.

Walking around Forfar with my wife and dogs on a visit during our holiday. Spotted the outside dining and thought we would go sit and have a drink and a bit of lunch. Pint and Pizza deal was on. Pizzas were great, staff were welcoming and friendly and the dogs were offered a bowl of water. Nice place to chill for lunch on a summer's day.

Definitely won't be returning, I had the blackened fish taco for a main but it came out and it was just battered haddock, coleslaw and guacamole nothing like a real taco. I'm a chef and I can guarantee this was not served to company spec.The tortillas were not even put in a pan first just cold straight from the packet. Also the service was really bad considering we asked for the kids meal to come out with the starter which it didn't and when I asked they said oh sorry we will get that out now, it didn't come out until our mains came out. I wouldn't mind but with a 72.00 £ bill I expected better food for that. Pizza dough was pale apart from the odd burnt bit of crust on the edge ,Best thing I had was the cajun loaded fries!!!! Well done chefs you should be proud 👏 lol we even had to pay at the till because after they cleared our table we sat there waiting and decided to pay on our way out as no bill was brought to the table. Clearly didn't leave a tip as they didn't deserve one.

Food was excellent at the launch of the new menu last night. Staff extremely attentive. Great atmosphere and look forward to returning very soon. Keep up the good work. 10/10

Was at Giddy Goose on Friday night as they launched their new menu and it is quite the refresh. Many new dishes, tried the skewered beef and chicken sharing plates both delicious with fantastic dipping sauce. Salt and pepper chicken wings tasty and blackened fish tacos were really good. Super impressed as it’s been a while since I’ve been will be back soon. Well done guys as service was also excellent.

We were a table of 5 at the launch of their new menu. We all picked something different to try and we all loved our dishes and I’d highly recommend the Smokey pepper haggis burger! The vibe was great and the staff were lovely and very attentive. Thank you for a wonderful evening

We were fortunate to be invited to the launch night of the new menu at Giddy Goose Forfar last night. Fantastic variety of delicious food and drinks, the staff as ever were faultless and attentive. A relaxed happy atmosphere, it's a 10/10 from us and we'll be back very soon!!

A fabulous night from start to finish! The restaurant has a fairly young vibe to it - lovely decor and a mix of normal seating and high seating with a bar dining area and a restaurant. We were seated in the restaurant and started off with a couple of cocktails. The Ophelia is a firm favourite and is reasonably priced. For starters we had halloumi fries and chicken skewers; both super tasty and good sized portions. Mains were the maple burger and beef brisket flatbread. The burger was cooked to perfection with delicious toppings and the brisket was tender and flavoursome. Dessert was the berry waffle and sticky toffee. I would have preferred a bit more custard with the waffle (in a wee jug would be perfect). More cocktails followed… all in all an excellent night. Food was delicious and we’ll definitely be back!

Had a lovely meal with my family at Forfar Giddy Goose trying out the new menu. The staff were very attentive and friendly and the food was amazing! Would highly recommend their chocolate brownie cookie dessert 😋

Absolutely loved our night in The Giddy Goose Forfar. We had a table of 6, of all ages, but every one of us were delighted with the food on the night. The selection on the menu is brilliant with Vegetarian, Vegan and Dairy free options available. The Tacos were the standout dish in my opinion, the Chicken was cooked to perfection and the mango and pineapple salsa takes it to the next level. The staff are all brilliant, very attentive and friendly service. They have smashed it to be honest. Can't wait to visit again!! Well done The Giddy Goose Forfar.

Fantastic meal at the giddy goose tonight. You are always guaranteed a great meal with an excellent selection of cocktails and wine at the giddy. The GOAT lamb burger was delicious! Staff were friendly and welcoming. Thank you for a lovely evening.

This is an excellent restaurant with a brand new menu with lots of choice. We all tried something different and everyone was happy with their choice. Staff were very attentive throughout the night. Lovely atmosphere and looking forward to the next visit.

Dog friendly. Even brought them a bowl of qTer without asking. Have to park on the road nearby which is limited to 60mins until 5:30. Staff very pleasant and attentive. We had a range of food including halloumi burger, meat pizza and steak pie.. all very nice and reasonable priced. Would return if ever in the area again

Lovely restaurant bar. Take away pizzas £5 and we had a lovely drink while we waited. Beautiful regency house in Forfar. Decor a delight and the summer sun enhanced the happy feeling. (Food delish by the way!)

Food and service was excellent. The gluten free pizza was delicious, as were the regular pizzas and burgers. Will definitely be back.

venue is nice and well kept and the food was very good swell. Th problem on our visit was the loud mouth party of drinkers in the place next to people having meals. They were out of control and the staff did nothing about it. really made the whole family meal a chore having to hope the grand kids did not pick u on any of the fowl language

Lovely place. But there is only so much wallpaper you can look at with no food in front of you. Starters were nachos for hubby mozzarella sticks for me. His was good mine was so rubbery it was making my teeth hurt. Then came the main. We ordered Philly cheesestake sub with chips and waited. And waited. And waited. Eventually gave up and asked for it to be boxed to take away. Well our sub must not have liked the travel because it shrank to a bridge roll. Chips were of the frozen kind(not because of the travel) it was tasty but not worth the wait or the money

Friendly staff and the decor is chilled.

Chose this place mainly because it was dog friendly, so we booked it online. It is next to a busy road and as it was a warm day we sat outside for something to eat. Very poor service. Took ages to take our order. Drinks were slow to arrive. It wasn't that busy either, so not sure if they were short staffed or what. Food came. I ordered a katsu chicken burger - I know - but it was actually pretty tasty. It was very messy too, and we hadn't been given napkins or cutlery. Asked and waited ages. I'd pretty much finished by the time I got them. I would say the food was pretty decent, but the place was let down by the service.

What a wee hidden gem.we were visiting the area for first time and came across this restaurant on Google maps.service was so friendly and welcoming when went in. Staff looked after us and the food was unbelievable one the best pizzas have tasted.cost was very reasonable and everything about the place was comfortable and very clean. Love beer garden at front and back also..would recommend anyone to visit this place.

5 stars for the food the burgers and hot dogs were fantastic. 👍 I had originally booked to eat in for lunch tomorrow to spend a voucher I had before it expired. I received a call today to say unfortunately my booking was cancelled as they were closed for maintenance tomorrow which was disappointing but I was grateful to be told in advance. So I decided to get a takeaway tonight instead. I made a mistake as I didn't realise the 2 for 1 on burgers and hotdogs didn't apply to takeaway. The only negative point to make is they need to update the prices on their Facebook page as there was a vast difference in the price advertised on the take away menu on there and what I was charged on my bill. A difference of £13.50 It won't put me off visiting again but I will double check in future .

Really enjoy having food here. The pizzas are really good and it always feels like a treat. Lovely atmosphere and decor that's a bit different from your usual dining experience.

Love the decor here and the service was very friendly! Food is good but when there aren't deals running it's a little expensive for what you get. There is a veggie and vegan selection, it's not anything out of the ordinary but it is there and was tasty!

Food is so bad do not go here! Service was average … could clearly tell we didn’t enjoy our food as we left 90% of it. No offer of apology nothing. Will not return. This place has really went downhill!

Food is always excellent, well made, well presented and really tasty options. The issue I always have is the menu doesn't seem to be updated so some things on the menu aren't actually available, the online ordering never works, just says not available all the time and I have found 3 different menus between their website and social media's that are all different pricing and all incorrect as items not available anymore when phoning directly to order, would be 5 stars if it wasn't so hard to know what is available and what isn't, also to be able to put an order properly Just Eat etc

I recently dined with 3 friends at the Giddy Goose and all in all it was a very poor experience. 2 of the 3 starters ordered were served around 5mins before the 3rd (which we had to chase) and when the 3rd turned up, there...

We were here for Christmas staff night out waiting over an hour for our meal very disappointed with service 😞 this first time I have been and will definitely not return.

The service is the worst I have ever experienced which is a shame as the food was good. Waiting staff were nice but management are horrible and verbally aggressive towards customers raising concerns. Not enough staff to cater for the amount of customers there. Staff looked rushed and stressed. Excessive waiting times to receive food and between courses. No cutlery given, 5+ minutes sat with food waiting on cutlery. My colleagues had to eat their dessert from plastic spoons that we found on a shelf in the restaurant as nobody returned to give us spoons. Restaurant was freezing cold and uncomfortable to eat in. Staff were loudly moving furniture around us as we tried to eat. 3 attempts to get the bill sorted out as this was incorrectly calculated which took approximately 50 minutes from first asking for the bill to when we left the restaurant. We had to leave and return following morning to pay as no staff available to give us finalised bill or take payment (even after the 50 minute wait). Manager was threatening, accusatory and verbally aggressive when we were trying to explain the poor experience and why we left. He was unwilling to listen and argumentative. He accused us of stealing even though we booked under company name and left contact details and would not accept that the experience and poor service had caused the entire situation. It was absolutely terrible and I would discourage anyone from going here.

Place smelt of stale cooking oil, and when we got our chips we knew why! Yuk!! Place and staff nice otherwise.

Easily one of the best of Forfar. The pizzas are delicious, and the crusts are so tasty. The chicken is lovely and crunchy, and we've had a few that were a touch over but the sauces they provide are so flavorful and complement the food very well. You must go :)

It was noisy when we first went in, but once the loud table left it was excellent. We enjoyed the food very much.
