The best restaurants in York Yorkshire and The Humber

Stumbled across the hall while completing the York Cat Hunt. Highly recommend popping in 1) to see the hall 2) to have a lovely cuppa and a sit down.

Good quality food ( great bacon in particular!) freshly cooked. Comfy sofas, great surroundings (it's in a motorbike shop) and decent choice of food and drink. Recommended.

Friendly , helpful and nice chilled vibe. We popped it on the way home from York centre and was warmly welcomed . Didn't eat, so I didn't rate the food .

As someone with gluten intolerance, I was thrilled to see the gluten-free options available, marking the first time in ages that I could enjoy pasta at a restaurant. I opted for the gluten-free seafood linguine, which was perfect. The staff were super accommodating, allowing us to bring our own drinks, and the watermelon mocktail was so tasty with some real fresh watermelon inside. My friends and I had a fantastic Christmas dinner filled with laughter and great food. Thank you so much 🙏🏻✨

Disappointing. Instead of an umami rich gravy, the chow mein noodles had the taste of chicken supernoodle soup base. And the garlic and chilli beef was a generic sweet and sour dish with just a slight chilli hit. There's nothing so sad as a bad takeaway!

Great cafe. Lovely food and service

This is the first takeaway around York we’ve found that’s actually good! My partner and I both had a great meal from Spice Village (chicken shashlik for me and paneer for him). Sauces were rich and thick, naans fresh, well cooked and didn’t suffer from the (very quick) delivery.

The Speckled Hen was a tad too cold for my liking but still very good. The Guinness was excellent. This establishment is spotlessly clean and has a very friendly and welcoming feeling. As for the staff, you couldn't puck a better bunch of people with a computer. AND I can definitely recommend the food!

Called for breakfast just as it opened. Very nice simple cafe. I think we were too early as the choice was limited so settled for toasted teacakes rather than cakes. Suspect they were prepping for lunch, which from the menu, looked excellent abd good value

Absolutely amazing, I was in food heaven. Manager was so nice and considerate. Asked my how day was, which was nice. He wad absolutely charming. Again,the food was stunning. Looked lovely and tasted better than any in Acomb. Would recommend to everybody ever. The rich juicy flavours of the chicken really brought out the exquisite spice of the sauce. The makkani was to die for

Found this place by accident and so pleased we did !! Go grab some of the best ales I’ve ever tasted and then order your food to your table! Fresh tasty and good sized portions! Definitely one of the hidden gems of York !
