Fabulous Italian restaurant. Friendly service, gorgeous food. Lobster ravioli, lamb ravioli, the special duck in orange sauce, all amazing, we'll be back

Visited on a Tuesday evening. We hadn’t booked but they fitted us in. Two main courses, bread, 2 large wines and one dessert for under £60. Great food, especially Nonna’s torte! Recommend and would visit again if ever back in town.

Lovely food, good portions, and good value for money. Could be more options for vegans. Service was good, although we did feel a bit rushed towards the end of our meal, which was towards the end of the night, and it was clear the staff wanted to go home.

Well, I've got to say I was very impressed. My house wine was lovely, the service was welcoming and my dish which was the lamb ravioli was full of flavour and all for a great price. Thank you

Large portions and friendly service, but I felt the food was a bit average. The special fish goujons seemed like they just came out of a packet from the freezer and weren't separated where they had stuck together, and the chilli sauce didn't feel like it went with the fish. The mains were better - the pasta was tasty and well cooked. But there was very little in the menu that didn't have a creamy sauce. Towards the end it felt like the attentive service waned, but it was very good service on the whole.

What is this place doing in York?! This is fine southern Italian in EVERY sense. WOW!!! Just check their menu. If you want a departure from Pub food or the norm..... this is it! Dang!

We come to visit York for 3 nights and have come to Valentino’s every night for dinner and have not been disappointed, the food portions and taste was exquisite, the staff are all so lovely and kind, can’t complain about anything it was all just so perfect! Not to mention the little birthday surprise with the dessert we got, superb restaurant, you won’t be disappointed

A truly beautiful experience, myself and my brother and our daughters visited on Saturday. Made to feel so welcome, it truly was a beautiful meal, helped by fantastic staff with a help you attitude. I couldn't thank them enough.

Recommended by the Apple House where we are staying, not disappointed at all excellent recommendations. Got here a tad early for our booking,( 6.30), Staff friendly and helpful, nice atmosphere very Italian, quite when we got there, but filled up fast with large families, couples, etc so definitely worth booking. We both had the vegetarian cannelloni, which was very good, then l managed to have the Italian Apple pie, perfect. Nice beer. Will try to get back while on our visit to York

1st visit as staying locally. Very friendly inviting staff. Good value for money and delicious pizzas. Nice coffee to finish too. Definitely recommend a visit.

Wonderful host and staff that make sure that everybody has a great time, along with fabulous food.Cant ask for more! ( Unless of course it's "more" of the vanilla cheesecake or tiramisu - hard to pick which one is the best!!)

The food was amazing, I was in on a Monday Evening with my family and it was still incredibly busy. It was a bit chaotic and loud, but the decor and the service were more than enough to make up for it

Best Italian restaurant in York

Delicious. Been craving some authentic Italian. Got a generous portion of carbonara and a serving of one of my favourite dishes — prosciutto and melon (with olives too, of course). YUM!

Beautiful food with a lovely atmosphere and friendly staff

This is a lovely independent Italian with a great variety of menu items. The portions are generous and leave you satisfied. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our evening. The only negative was the speed at which the food was delivered meant that we were finished in under an hour.

Went with my wife there after races it was a fantastic meal friendly staff very quick and efficient manager made us very welcome. It was that good. We went back again on Saturday night.

It’s a very pleasant restaurant, classy with nice furniture. The staff were superb, very attentive. We all ordered pasta dishes and to be honest for the price they were small portions. Mine had four pieces of filled pasta which for £16 was either overpriced or under portioned. Probably less than £1 of ingredients. The mixed salad side was nice but no tomato which was weird. Came away hungry to be fair. I also emailed the restaurant a few days in advance re vegetarian options as there are no Vs on the menu. I wanted to know if the cheese used in any of the vegetarian sounding dishes was vegetarian (no animal rennet) but didn’t get a response. York has lots of restaurants so won’t be heading back here anytime soon.

Great restaurant wonderful staff very friendly fantastic quality food top class service.

Was expecting great things after reading some of the reviews but was very disappointed. Ended up with a table upstairs which was pleasant enough but there was no atmosphere. Bit like a library. Starters were good, the main was decent but the signature dish of an Italian restaurant for dessert is Tiramisu for me and theirs was shockingly bad. Squinty cream everywhere and chocolate candy balls and slices of orange. WHY??? Criminal!!!!

I wish I could give more than 5 stars 🌟, because they truly deserve it. The food is the best we have ever had. The staff are wonderful. They made us feel so welcome. It's worth going all the way back to York ( 75 miles from home ) just the go to Valentinos. The 4 nights we were in york we ate there 3 nights.

I was in valentinos with my family on Saturday night when i arrived restaurant was full . I have great experience on this restaurant .My family and I really enjoyed delicious food and service was great ..Tagliatelle marinara and creamy chicken was delicious and dessert is super ..highly recommended valentinos york .

We felt some of the staff was impolite, because not once but twice we asked for water and either we got ignored or had to wait 5 minutes when the restaurant was empty, we felt if we would have ordered wine it would have been there in 1 minute. Food was ok, but kind of simple and we felt the chicken was weird (My partner thought it was bread crumbs).

Although the restaurant was busy we still had fantastic food and the staff couldn't do enough for us. I sooo love this restaurant.

We went to Valentino’s for my brother’s 21st birthday and didn’t have the best experience. I ordered a steak medium rare from the menu and it was definitely well done. I asked if there was anything they could do and they brought it back extremely rare. Which made me feel uncomfortable whilst eating it as I didn’t trust it was cooked enough. The vegetables that came with the meal were also not very tasty and I could tell they were a bit old. The wine was also very vinegary. The service was very friendly but the food was not up to standard.

Honestly didn't think we would get a table it was so busy! But I'm so glad we did! The food was fantastic! The service was great! And very reasonably priced! Would definitely recommend! Will be visiting again when in York!

Sheer beautiful and a pleasure to be there. Went with friends before Christmas and I cannot compliment this restaurant enough. Efficient and pleasant staff. Nice Decor for Christmas time and the food was just perfectly cooked with great taste. This will become a favourite place for us to go for Birthdays. Anniversary's or just out with friends.. A lovely evening and experience. Thank you so much for the lovely night there..

This is the second time we've been to this delightful restaurant, and again, it didn't disappoint. The food was fantastic, the service was friendly and efficient. The place was full from when we went in, to when we left, and as a lovely early Christmas gift, the owner gave all customers a panettone or similar as they left. I totally recommend Valentinos and we will be back next time we're in York.

Visited York for a conference as a lone traveller. Restaurant opposite my hotel so decided to be brave and dine alone for the 1st time ever. Restaurant busy but they were happy to cater for me. Made to feel very welcome. Food delicious ( I had homemade ravioli) and service great ( prompt and with a smile). Lovely restaurant. Thank you.

What a find! The hotel recommended this restaurant to us. Great food, great atmosphere. We hadn't booked as it was only 530pm but they managed to find us a table. It is lovely to not be rushed and the time between courses was perfect. Thank you for a lovely meal. Great evening and it was a wonderful pre theatre meal with you. We will be back next time we stay in York.

I had been here with my family for dinner. It was a really good experience dining here. The staff were friendly and service was good. The food was fresh and delicious. Authentic Italian cuisine the Italian way. This place gets quits busy which means it is quite popular for its food and service. The staff are always happy to help. This is a must visit place for fine dining in York.

We’ve lived in York for 30 yrs and only just discovered this wonderful neighbourhood Italian . We were looking to eat before going to Everyman cinema . With a Vespa parked outside and a welcoming atmosphere ( busy even on a Monday ) we immediately liked it . The food and service excellent , I had pumpkin filled pasta and my wife had lasagne. Clientele seemed local to York & this is somewhere I would strongly recommend for anyone resident or visitor . Step out from the city centre ! Note it opens 7d a week including Monday which can be a difficult night to find non chain places open .

Very nice food, I enjoyed my pasta dish and could not resist the pudding Staff are super nice too and I liked the big room, I will go back Thank you Valentino for such good food and service. Prices are good, in line with most local restaurants, wine, oh wine was great too.

I visited this Italian restaurant in August and had a delightful experience. I ordered the tagliatelle marinara, which was exceptional. The pasta was perfectly cooked, and the seafood sauce was flavorful and rich. I couldn't leave without trying the tiramisu. It was heavenly - creamy, light, and perfectly balanced in flavor. A great end to the meal. The service was friendly and professional, and the atmosphere was cozy, giving a true Italian vibe.

Lovely family run restaurant with fantastic food and very friendly helpful staff. The proof of its well deserved popularity was that it had only a couple of vacant tables on a Wednesday and walking past two other nearby restaurants on the first night which were devoid of customers. We ate here both nights of our stay at the BW Kilima hotel nearby. The bonus was a/c in the unexpected 26C heat of early September. Our first nights bill with a shared starter, mains and wine plus teas was a slightly more than average £80, the second nights with pizzas as mains was a more to be expected £55 including wine The meals are superbly presented and very generous portions, my first night was the slightly pricier but excellent value fish platter which was superb and very well presented with lovely perfectly cooked portions of Sea Bass, Salmon, Haddock and Cod. My second meal was a delicious vegetable pizza which I could not finish it was so large. A lovely touch is the fresh leaf peppermint tea. Will always return if in the vicinity.

What an absolute jewel of a restaurant. Just outside of Micklegate and with a great menu. The lobster ravioli was amazing. Service is great and the person with desserts was a gem. Lovely place, please visit.

Oh my, what a weekend to be celebrating our Sapphire Wedding Anniversary - Race Weekend! Well done to the staff for doing a great job when under so much pressure - the place was heaving! I'd booked months in advance so was a little disappointed that our family group wasn't upstairs as it was so noisy downstairs it was hard to have a conversation. However, the food was fabulous and there was certainly a buzz in the air! We'll be back, but will choose a quieter time next time.😉🍷🎉

Dropped on this place by looking it up on Google and it was a great find !! Was fancying a good bowl of pasta and a glass of red and it didn’t disappoint. My husband and I both had the carbonara with a garlic bread which was beautiful and crispy , thank pasta was gorgeous so was the house wine . It was presented very well Staff were lovely Will definitely go back .

A small group of us had dinner here a few weeks ago whilst on holiday in the area. On the whole we had an enjoyable meal and staff were friendly. It seems to be a thriving venue - although that did make it quite a noisy place to eat. All the food was presented beautifully, however my vegetables were a tad overdone. All in all a good experience though.

Lovely food and good service considering we attended with a group of 8 without reservation. Staff were really friendly. Just a touch expensive.

Beautiful meal and great value for money. Service was fantastic and glad there was air con. It was a really hot day when we visited. Large portions. Beautiful decor and authentic music. Steak melted in your mouth and the goats cheese starter was delightful! Highly recommend

What a really great restaurant, from the moment we walked in the staff were excellent. The service was extremely prompt and the food was fantastic. The portions were very generous and the quality was 10/10. We were also very surprised at the value for money, we will definitely visit again the next time we are in York.
