One of the best Italian food you can taste. It was absolutely delicious and the portions are very generous. There is a good choice in the menu from fish to steak and drinks also. We just loved it

This is a very nice Italian restaurant, full of authentic Italian family and food feeling. Prices match the service and quality. Being made to feel the centre of attention by the staff whilst they are still dealing with other dinners is a skill you do not often encounter, nor the stunning sing from John Franko. For the real Italian experience, choose Valentino's.

Very friendly staff but much too noisy. Food okay.

We didn't have any prior knowledge of Valentinos and needed a place to eat, a quick phone call to book a table and they managed to fit us in. Well from the moment we arrived we got a very friendly greeting and immediately we felt relaxed and taken to our table. Selections of food for all requirements in our group and they didn't let us down, great portions and just the right amount of time between courses. All the staff were smiling and looked like they really enjoyed serving us. I'd vist York again just to eat here.

Booked for the eve of my partners 50th. Absolutely brilliant... we booked a party elsewhere how disappointed we were. Never again. Wouldn't book anywhere else now. Brilliant food and service

There is nothing bad about this restaurant..they go above and beyond to make you happy in every way food excellent and plenty of it .it was my partners birthday nd they made is special and rememberable evening even it was very busy they kept checking that a was ok thankyou for a great evening

Our first visit to York made that little bit extra special by Valentinos, conveniently 10mins away from the guest house, we went 2 nights in a row. The food is really tasty and the service and atmosphere is great. Portion sizes were just right also. If we ever go back to York this restaurant is top of the list for our evenings.

No Gluten Free menu but staff went through all the menu which could be adapted or was GF. Plenty of choice except desserts which was sorbet or ice cream. They had GF pasta but not pizza. Understood the implications of Coeliac Disease and what was required to make things safe for me. I had garlic mushroom starter, risotto and sorbet. All excellent and my non GF family and friends enjoyed their meals too! Service was good and the singing waiter an unexpected treat! Will go back again.

We were first time tourists to York and came across this restaurant walking into York from our hotel. The restaurant is family run , food freshly made. The service was excellent as was the food, good value for money.

Valentino’s Italian restaurant in York was absolutely fantastic. For us, finding halal meat is essential, and I was pleasantly surprised when I called to learn that all their beef, lamb, and chicken are halal! I enjoyed a delicious steak topped with prawns in a rich lobster sauce, while my wife savored the seabass, and our eleven-year-old daughter opted for a simple pasta pomodoro, which she spiced up with a dash of chili oil. The service was exceptional, thanks to Alberto and Gian Franco. Alberto, the restaurant owner, was incredibly warm and welcoming. To our delight, they didn’t even charge us for our daughter’s meal! Gian Franco’s singing was a highlight, and his lively personality made it feel like we were all part of a big family gathering. We can’t wait to return, God willing, before the end of our five-night stay in York! Kudos to the Valentino team!

Went on a Saturday evening. The atmosphere was amazing and the food was excellent! The staff are friendly and helpful and it was just a really enjoyable experience all round. Highly recommended!

Great experience! The food was flavoured properly and serve at the right temperature, all the staffs were friendly and welcoming. My friend and I were impressed by the service they provided. The price was reasonable as well. Definitely will come again.

Mum and I visited York for the Christmas Market and to finish off a lovely day we went to Valentinos. The service and friendliness of the staff was amazing. The ravioli was out of this world, I need this every week. Will definitely be back next time I'm in York.

We enjoyed an evening at Valentino’s last night & id like to share my review, we were met by a lovely friendly server, the restaurant atmosphere was great everyone appeared to be having a lovely time families, couples and groups of friends 🥰 The food was beautiful, I had the lamb shank and it was so nice, good portions and nicely presented. We loved the singing waiter he added a touch of Italy to our evening. & we will definitely be making another table booking soon … thank you for a lovely evening Valentinos x

Visited on a Tuesday evening. We hadn’t booked but they fitted us in. Two main courses, bread, 2 large wines and one dessert for under £60. Great food, especially Nonna’s torte! Recommend and would visit again if ever back in town.

Lovely food, good portions, and good value for money. Could be more options for vegans. Service was good, although we did feel a bit rushed towards the end of our meal, which was towards the end of the night, and it was clear the staff wanted to go home.

Well, I've got to say I was very impressed. My house wine was lovely, the service was welcoming and my dish which was the lamb ravioli was full of flavour and all for a great price. Thank you

Large portions and friendly service, but I felt the food was a bit average. The special fish goujons seemed like they just came out of a packet from the freezer and weren't separated where they had stuck together, and the chilli sauce didn't feel like it went with the fish. The mains were better - the pasta was tasty and well cooked. But there was very little in the menu that didn't have a creamy sauce. Towards the end it felt like the attentive service waned, but it was very good service on the whole.

What is this place doing in York?! This is fine southern Italian in EVERY sense. WOW!!! Just check their menu. If you want a departure from Pub food or the norm..... this is it! Dang!

We come to visit York for 3 nights and have come to Valentino’s every night for dinner and have not been disappointed, the food portions and taste was exquisite, the staff are all so lovely and kind, can’t complain about anything it was all just so perfect! Not to mention the little birthday surprise with the dessert we got, superb restaurant, you won’t be disappointed

A truly beautiful experience, myself and my brother and our daughters visited on Saturday. Made to feel so welcome, it truly was a beautiful meal, helped by fantastic staff with a help you attitude. I couldn't thank them enough.

Recommended by the Apple House where we are staying, not disappointed at all excellent recommendations. Got here a tad early for our booking,( 6.30), Staff friendly and helpful, nice atmosphere very Italian, quite when we got there, but filled up fast with large families, couples, etc so definitely worth booking. We both had the vegetarian cannelloni, which was very good, then l managed to have the Italian Apple pie, perfect. Nice beer. Will try to get back while on our visit to York

1st visit as staying locally. Very friendly inviting staff. Good value for money and delicious pizzas. Nice coffee to finish too. Definitely recommend a visit.

The food was amazing, I was in on a Monday Evening with my family and it was still incredibly busy. It was a bit chaotic and loud, but the decor and the service were more than enough to make up for it

Wonderful host and staff that make sure that everybody has a great time, along with fabulous food.Cant ask for more! ( Unless of course it's "more" of the vanilla cheesecake or tiramisu - hard to pick which one is the best!!)

Best Italian restaurant in York

Delicious. Been craving some authentic Italian. Got a generous portion of carbonara and a serving of one of my favourite dishes — prosciutto and melon (with olives too, of course). YUM!

Beautiful food with a lovely atmosphere and friendly staff

This is a lovely independent Italian with a great variety of menu items. The portions are generous and leave you satisfied. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our evening. The only negative was the speed at which the food was delivered meant that we were finished in under an hour.

Went with my wife there after races it was a fantastic meal friendly staff very quick and efficient manager made us very welcome. It was that good. We went back again on Saturday night.

It’s a very pleasant restaurant, classy with nice furniture. The staff were superb, very attentive. We all ordered pasta dishes and to be honest for the price they were small portions. Mine had four pieces of filled pasta which for £16 was either overpriced or under portioned. Probably less than £1 of ingredients. The mixed salad side was nice but no tomato which was weird. Came away hungry to be fair. I also emailed the restaurant a few days in advance re vegetarian options as there are no Vs on the menu. I wanted to know if the cheese used in any of the vegetarian sounding dishes was vegetarian (no animal rennet) but didn’t get a response. York has lots of restaurants so won’t be heading back here anytime soon.

Was expecting great things after reading some of the reviews but was very disappointed. Ended up with a table upstairs which was pleasant enough but there was no atmosphere. Bit like a library. Starters were good, the main was decent but the signature dish of an Italian restaurant for dessert is Tiramisu for me and theirs was shockingly bad. Squinty cream everywhere and chocolate candy balls and slices of orange. WHY??? Criminal!!!!

It's worth going all the way back to York ( 75 miles from home ) just the go to Valentinos. The 4 nights we were in york we ate there 3 nights.

I was in valentinos with my family on Saturday night when i arrived restaurant was full . I have great experience on this restaurant .My family and I really enjoyed delicious food and service was great ..Tagliatelle marinara and creamy chicken was delicious and dessert is super ..highly recommended valentinos york .

We felt some of the staff was impolite, because not once but twice we asked for water and either we got ignored or had to wait 5 minutes when the restaurant was empty, we felt if we would have ordered wine it would have been there in 1 minute. Food was ok, but kind of simple and we felt the chicken was weird (My partner thought it was bread crumbs).

We went to Valentino’s for my brother’s 21st birthday and didn’t have the best experience. I ordered a steak medium rare from the menu and it was definitely well done. I asked if there was anything they could do and they brought it back extremely rare. Which made me feel uncomfortable whilst eating it as I didn’t trust it was cooked enough. The vegetables that came with the meal were also not very tasty and I could tell they were a bit old. The wine was also very vinegary. The service was very friendly but the food was not up to standard.

Honestly didn't think we would get a table it was so busy! But I'm so glad we did! The food was fantastic! The service was great! And very reasonably priced! Would definitely recommend! Will be visiting again when in York!

Sheer beautiful and a pleasure to be there. Went with friends before Christmas and I cannot compliment this restaurant enough. Efficient and pleasant staff. Nice Decor for Christmas time and the food was just perfectly cooked with great taste. This will become a favourite place for us to go for Birthdays. Anniversary's or just out with friends.. This is the second time we've been to this delightful restaurant, and again, it didn't disappoint. The food was fantastic, the service was friendly and efficient. The place was full from when we went in, to when we left, and as a lovely early Christmas gift, the owner gave all customers a panettone or similar as they left. I totally recommend Valentinos and we will be back next time we're in York.

Visited York for a conference as a lone traveller. Restaurant opposite my hotel so decided to be brave and dine alone for the 1st time ever. Restaurant busy but they were happy to cater for me. Made to feel very welcome. Food delicious ( I had homemade ravioli) and service great ( prompt and with a smile). Lovely restaurant. Thank you.

What a find! The hotel recommended this restaurant to us. Great food, great atmosphere. We hadn't booked as it was only 530pm but they managed to find us a table. I had been here with my family for dinner. It was a really good experience dining here. The staff were friendly and service was good. The food was fresh and delicious. Authentic Italian cuisine the Italian way. This place gets quits busy which means it is quite popular for its food and service. The staff are always happy to help. This is a must visit place for fine dining in York.
