Phenomenal Japanese food! Only ordered delivery and the quality of the dishes have been outstanding so I expect eating in would be even more incredible Honourable mention to the charshu pork and noodles, and the miso aubergine... They are both incredible.

Delicious and piping hot freshly made food. Went for a second time when I was up visiting my son at York uni. Great varied menu of authentic Japanese cuisine all at very reasonable prices. Will 100% go again.

The food here was exceptional :)) everything we ordered was fresh and tasty. However, the service was disappointing 😌While some staff members were nice, two female staff members made us feel uncomfortable. One kept staring at our table the entire time, which was unsettling, and the other seemed unhappy and unwilling to serve us. It really affected the overall dining experience. We came as a group of six, excited to enjoy a meal together, but the unwelcoming service made it difficult to fully appreciate, hopefully the restaurant can improve in their service.

I must say the food here is below average, we ordered an udon, a tempura curry and a tempura ramen, all of them are not tasty. When the waitress served the food, their fingers touched the food and the soup, it makes us feel disgusting. We are disappointed…….

We have been twice and tried a range of items on the menu and the food was excellent both times. There is a nice atmosphere and the staff were lovely.

The restaurant is fab but don't think it translates well to takeaway :( The tempura batter was soft and stuck to the rice making the rice wet and stodgy. Not worth the money and a big disappointment

Friday night it was fairly quiet so we had full attention from the waitresses. All the food was incredible. Great options for me and catered for my coeliac and had gluten free soy sauce. Also plenty for my vegetarian MIL. Would definitely visit again.

Absolutely fantastic food here and lots of veggie options. I had a tofu and vegetable ramen and it was delicious — super fresh veg and it wasn’t too salty (like some miso-based dishes can be). Highly recommend!

Usually Ipfu is pretty good with deliveries, and I'd sing praises of their food, but this time it genuinely feels like they forgot about my order. Food came in 2 hours after I ordered, the chicken fried noodle was cold and greasier than usual, and now my partner and I are still hungry, because our order would have been fulling if it had been delivered an hour ago (as it should have been). Disappointing...

Great restaurant, great service, they served us super fast and all we ate was delicious. I recommend the bento boxes. We felt like in Japan. Great experience, very welcoming staff and I have to say that We cant wait to come back!

I would recommend Udon ramen with white soup as the soup is perfect & the pork was really melting in your mouth. It was so delicious. We will definitely go back again for Ramen noodle. We did order a lots of Sushi as I have high expectations for the taste according to other people put on a review BUT on my point of view it was not much taste as I’m looking for and we are a big fan of Sushi family and we love trying different sushi restaurants when we go to different places.

We stumbled across this gem when taking a dodgy turn while walking towards the city centre. What a lucky turn! A pleasant restaurant, good service, amazing food and the lunch menu is really good value for money!

Friendly, attentive and speedy service. The food is delicious and generous portions. We had the gyoza, spicy duck roll, tamago nigiri, beef fried udon, salmon & tuna sashimi don and tonkatsu don and everything was delicious.

Lovely food. We had sushi, panto crab, beef, teriyaki chicken, tempura ice cream! Nice decor and the staff were really nice.

This was our favourite place we had been to in York. Was so lovely, the food was amazing, I would eat there so often had I resided in town, we even ordered more to go after eating. Recently, I visited Ipfu with my guest from Turkey, and we had an unforgettable experience. Our server, Oven, took great care of us and provided exceptional service throughout our meal. He was very knowledgeable about the menu, and all of his recommendations were spot on. The food was already incredible, but Oven’s attentiveness made the entire experience even better. We’re definitely looking forward to coming back!

Had a great meal in this restaurant. Had the chicken katsu curry dish which was exquisite. The fried squid starter was also delicious.

Nice characterful interior decor, friendly service, food very tasty - they offer a lunch menu which isn't on their website - price was reasonable. Would recommend as the best Japanese restaurant option in York.

The food here is always super fresh and delicious, the restaurant is lovely and the staff very helpful. Me and my partner love coming here for special occasions and it never disappoints! The various ramen options are amazing, the cocktails are incredible and I have already taken my whole family here twice as there are options for everyone to enjoy!

Best place for sushi in York Always amazing service and tasty food

We loved every item we ordered, sushi platter, miso soup, steak, sashimi, rice, edamame, and spring rolls. All items, with the exception of the tempura. It was the only subpar dish due to the batter being dense and heavy, not light and crispy as it should be. The ambience was nice and the menu is huuuuge. There is definitely something for everyone here.

Great service. There is a great variety of food here and they take card. You much try the lycheetine it's amazing ! And there is a fantastic corner shop just next door that sells all-sorts of amazing things.

Extensive menu with so much delicious authentic Japanese food, something to please everyone whether you love meat or vegetables! Friendly service, nice decor and atmosphere.

Me and my family come here often whenever they visit me in Uni. It is the best Japanese restaurant we have gone to! I often buy the small bentos w/ chicken katsu or king prawn tempura and they taste amazing. My family can vouch for the noodles too! Portions are large and the staff are very friendly. Would highly recommend going here if you ever visit York!

Visited with my partner for the first time and had an amazing dinner, service was fast and proactive, the food was absolutely perfect, and the atmosphere had a nice buzz all through our evening, with fantastic ambience to boot! Definitely will be returning

It’s been the first time I have ever been to I’ll and I personally love it. The menu holds a lot of variety and all 3 of our meals looked gorgeous and from my own experience, mine tasted just as good as it looked. The Restaurant is peaceful and the staff were very polite.

This restaurant has great ambience and I went on Monday, it was almost empty and I dined by myself - there were a couple others came by themselves too. I’m a bit disappointed by the salmon lovers sushi platter, the way it’s presented and for the price I’m paying, I was expecting more salmon. The pickled ginger didn’t taste fresh and salmon is a big fishy. I guess if you’re not really bothered about quality of fish then this place is good, I have to say the whole dining atmosphere was great, they played Japanese pop music in background. I didn’t like the hot sake but maybe because I’m not an alcohol drinker in general.

Delicious food, a good choice on the menu would go back again

I have never had "ramen" which means hand pulled noodle tasted no different than pot noodle. The broth is artificial and toppings come directly out of bulk buy pack. The sushi is also of subpar quality. For the prices they charge, it's to be avoided.

I went to the restaurant, the moment I opened the door, the server asked me, "What's your order number?" she thought I'm delivery guy, Not sure why she thought I was a delivery guy, so is this restaurant welcome everyone or only selected people?

10 Feb 2024 update - still the best Japanese in the local area for me. Last night was the first time we've visited on an evening and the atmosphere was wonderful. The staff are wonderfully friendly and food cooked fresh, so be prepared to spend a bit of time here and relax, rather than rushing in and out. It can sometimes take a bit of time to be served and you might wait a while without a drink, but when you see the staff chatting at tables, the attention to detail that goes into each dish and the reasonable prices, it's perfectly understandable). ---- Fabulous Japanese restaurant in York.

Not real Japanese food! They used over cooked Chinese noodles (you don’t even need to chew) , and the soup was way too salty, and I can tasted they put a lot of MSG. And again, why the restaurants in UK always severed people the green pepper, red pepper broccoli tempura?? There is no such thing in Japan! We never make green pepper, red pepper broccoli as tempura! If you see these things served in “Japanese”restaurants in UK, you know you won’t have real Japanese food.

Went for my friends birthday and everything was perfect! The food was amazing, nice big portions, really good value for money. The menu is extensive so there’s something for everyone. The service was brilliant - the waiters and waitresses were lovely, friendly and accommodating and really made the night special. Great atmosphere and beautiful restaurant too. I’ll definitely be returning and would highly recommend it!

Very expensive for the quality of the food. Arrived late and cold. Spring rolls were tiny and very soggy, no flavour to them. Sushi was the same as buying from a supermarket. Nothing special and too expensive for what it is.

It felt so genuinely Japanese! From the brown interior, lanterns and chefs behind food stations, to the food. Good selection of sushi, noodle dishes, spare ribs, and seasonal deals. Nice tea and stronger drinks, and super friendly service.

no just eat drivers but they still managed to get the order out to me warm using their own private drivers. first rate service highly recommend them
