“I recently dined at Everest Gurkha, a Nepalese restaurant, and absolutely loved the food! The dumplings and chicken lollipops were the standout dishes—packed with flavor and cooked to perfection. However, the service was a bit of a letdown. We were forgotten for about half an hour, and though we wanted to try a few more dishes, it seemed they were having a busy evening. Despite the service hiccup, the quality of the food definitely makes this place worth a visit. I’ll be back to explore more of their menu!”

My husband and l called in here on the off chance. Friendly service. Never had Nepalese food before. Absolutely loved it. Will definitely return

Really a wonderful place, very good customer service as well as the staffs are very friendly. Foods are amazing, reminds me of home. Would really recommend for anyone around york if you’re craving for some delicious Nepalese food as well as good beers.l and dumplings.

My boyfriend took me here for a surprise and indeed the I was totally blown away, the food came in time and it the portion was amazing compared to other Nepalese restaurants I have tried around town, I highly recommend this restaurant t everyone both old and new in York

It is very hard to please me especially when it comes to food but these guys are the best, from the quality of food to the portion down to the service is superb.. I am vouching 💯% for this restaurant and the food is very affordable.

Tourist trap. Not great at all considering the location. The food is below average, the price is ok for what you get but most people here don't come here for service or atmosphere. Won't be returning.

Beautifully cooked food, amazing flavours. Momo and lamb taas to start and Himalayan lamb and chicken sagarmatha for mains. No room for dessert! They offer options for level of spice with obviously more spicy dishes highlighted as such on the menu. Very good value,will be back when we next visit York!

Brilliant curry! Had me a Thali and loved it. Cooked to required spice level and all food was fresh and tasty! Will come back again!

We enjoyed this very much. The relaxed atmosphere with caring and attentive service was topped by some amazing food: chicken tikka curry, garlic naan, and these steamed momos, pictured. The richness of the spices and flavors combined with their great service made this a great meal.

Found this place while searching for something a bit different for tea. Really happy we did. The food, service and staff are amazing. Can't wait to come back and try some more. Prices are really reasonable, worth every penny and more.

I’ve been to Everest Gurkha several times, and never had an issue. The food is always superb and the service is lovely. Everyone is very passionate about serving good food — which in my opinion, is the best in York! Definitely recommend a visit here.

Our first visit. Warm welcome, with courteous and friendly service throughout our visit. The food was very good, tasty and full of flavours. Very reasonable prices. We hope that we will return soon.

Absolutely delicious. Atmosphere is cozy and very Nepalese as far as I would know. Convenient part of York to stop and get a bite. Fair prices and good food, what more could you ask for? I got the recommended set dinner. Would definitely recommend.

We had one of the best meals we've ever had here last night. The food was absolutely delicious and the staff were very friendly! We also got to sit on the floor cushions which we loved. Would definitely recommend this place and hope to be back soon!

We love Nepalese food and our mains were authentic and delicious. The cheesy roasted potatoes were not authentic but croquettes served with chips which was a let down as everything else was good. Very good value for the mains and the wine. Good friendly service.

Two different passers-by stopped to recommend eating here while we were perusing the menu outside - and they were right! Really friendly staff and a nice relaxed atmosphere. The food was excellent - another customer recommended the Himalayan Lamb and it was a great choice: beautifully soft with a delicious sauce. The chicken karahi was also excellent. I would definitely call again.

A little gem of a restaurant with superb service and amazing food! We stumbled upon it looking for a table of 6 and the staff couldn't have been any more accommodating! The chicken tika masala was the best we have ever tasted in our lives. This was our first time experiencing Nepalese cuisine, and we all really enjoyed it. Would highly recommend! Thank you team Everest Gurkha, we will be back next year x

Really looked forward to eating here with my wife after seeing the rave reviews. I asked for help either menu regarding level of heat etc. as we hadn’t eaten in a Nepalese restaurant before Food was flavourful some hotter than we liked but overall the experience was good. Staff were pleasant. Got the bill then it went downhill. Hand written in poor English and not clear pricing. I thought they had overcharged us but they assured me that it was correct and their smiling faces convinced me it was. Checking later at the hotel and rounding everything up they had overcharged as we thought. Put it down to experience but be aware.

Located in Foss Gate, Prime location in the centre of York, This Everest Gurkha had served us an Authentic and exotic food. We tasted a real taste of Nepal with Nepalese lager. Our group was satisfied with an hour and half spent on Friday night. I would recommend this restaurant. We tried chow mein, momo both steamed and jhol, Taas and Nepalese lager.

A typical Nepalese dish with varieties of item severed by the Nepalese brother wearing typical cultural dress who’s so polite with smiley face which attract us remainding our Nepalese dish I recommend to try chatpate (mixed with veggies noodles Nepali spices ) so yummy ❤️❤️best and affordable restaurant. The food here is good but the culture of restaurant is very bad. I am regular visitor in the restaurant but today I went inside the restaurant and ask to the staff whether I can use the toilet or not because it was emergency... but the staff denied and turned back. I think if I a regular visitor in the restaurants they could allow me the use the toilet when I am not coming as customer. Such pathetic staff service. No doubt food is good but the behaviour of the staff is worse. Thanks to stone bow who allowed me use there toilet when I needed urgently.

Such high quality food tastes just like what I've had when I visited Nepal, the staff are lovely and the prices are very reasonable. Perfect place to go for an excellent dinner with colleagues, friends or significant other.

Great food and really attentive staff. Stumbled upon this place by accident and was pleasantly surprised. Big portions and it was quite busy with locals as well. The restaurant interior does show its age but that’s all good - gives it its charm.

We both had a thali (known as a dustbin lid to us). My wife said "possibly the best curry I have ever had". And we've had a few.

Really lovely food and service! Good value

I have eaten hundreds of curries all over the uk. This one was stand out! The owner was kind and welcoming - making a special dish with no onions for my daughter on a FODMAP diet. The rest of my family- 7 of us got stuck in to a variety of these Nepalese delicacies. 3 of us had the Thali set meal (taste of multiple dishes) 2 Dahls ,a meat dish (mine was spicy succulent slow cooked melting pork belly), a sauce ,some potatoes, a popadom and a chilli to gnaw on if it wasn’t hot enough - which it was. It was truly superb - clean plates all round. And not expensive. Go to this place - these guys are passionate about their craft. Enjoy their hospitality. I would have given 6 stars if I could.

Absolutely incredible food and service. We had 2 curries as well as honey chilli chips and mo-mo’s. The flavours were incredible and so authentic. Not sure you could get a better curry in York. You must try here. Service so friendly too - such lovely waiters!

Ace little find I didn’t want to go in but I was persuaded and I’m glad I did,this is without doubt the best spiced food I have ever eaten all the flavours were fantastic, they definitely know how to cook this type of food, Definitely will be going again

The shop owner was so friendly, had a nice little chat. Plenty seats on Tuesday evening. I got the special lamb curry challenge which was very spicy, wouldn’t recommend ordering if you want to enjoy the food without pain (don’t get me wrong, the curry was still good but my ears were hurting from the spices because I underestimated the challenge). The pork momos were superb, I’m so glad there’s no noodles inside, but the taste of the momo soup was a bit weird to me because I’m not used to the mix of spices. Probably will get steamed momos next time. Masala tea was good too, but wasn’t amazing.

Generous portions and delicious food

Hands down, some of the best food I’ve had recently! I’m still dreaming about my meal at EVEREST GURKA. A big thank you to Mr. ANIL our chef for providing outstanding service throughout our meal. Their menu knowledge and attention to detail made for a seamless dining experience.

Amazing food and atmosphere however the waiter was extremely rude. I was having coconut water as I wasn’t feeling well and while taking the order, the waiter pointed the finger at me and said “Put that down”, in a very rude tone. When we asked, he said “It’s not allowed as per our restaurants policy”. My question is that if it’s not allowed then where was the sign that mentioned the policy in the restaurant?? If customers fail to read the sign, isn’t it the responsibility of the waiter to ask the customers to put down the drink politely and not point the fingers at them? How the customers are treated tells a lot about a restaurant.

The food here is absolutely amazing. Without a doubt the best curry I have ever had (Chicken Tikka) I also tried some of my mums lamb curry which was just as good, tender lamb. The staff were lovely. They also have a Nepalese lager on tap which was nice. It's very pretty inside and has a calming atmosphere.

This is a great little restaurant! I have never had Nepalese food before and was interested to try buffalo meat, it was so good! Great flavours and the staff were friendly, professional and happy to talk through the dishes...Gurkha Beer and Golfen Everest beer is absolutely brilliant! Just wish it was more widely available in supermarkets!

We visited recently and enjoyed a delightful evening with dear friends and some excellent Nepalese cuisine. We booked a table but, even though busy, the staff welcomed in walk-ins too. Attentive, knowledgeable and friendly staff took our food requests and checked on how spicy we wanted our various dishes which all came promptly and exactly to our tastes The Mo-Mo dumplings are a “must”, starters or mains and we chose the mixed Thalli which came highly recommended by the restaurant and, now, by us. Great range of drinks and desserts although we were too full to partake. Can’t wait for our next trip to York and this venue.

Visited Everest Gurkha Nepalese Restaurant in York recently and had an amazing time! The atmosphere was cozy, the food was incredibly delicious, with each dish bursting with vibrant flavors. The thali plates are to die for - I highly recommend the lamb. The staff were incredibly friendly and provided top-notch service, always with a big smile. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a fantastic dining experience in York, regardless of age or occasion!

Consistently great food. The Momo’s are awesome. They’re good vegetarian options and the talli is also highly recommended. Service is quick and friendly.

Really good fresh food, friendly service and just a great atmosphere

Popped in for lunch and blown away by the food. I had chicken Tikka curry which was absolutely gorgeous and the husband had the Himalayan lamb which was amazing, the lamb was soft and tender and melted in the mouth. We had breads on the side that were freshly cooked. Starter was paneer pakora and we could have just eaten plates of them, very moreish. Staff were lovely and really friendly. A great place to kick back and relax.
