We had a wonderful meal there tonight. Fantastic service and food.

Loved it here. The curry here has to be the best I have ever had , they really do Nepal proud with this amazing menu. Staff are always so welcoming and helpful such a great environment for a restaurant. The food is also very affordable which is perfect for my family of 5. Would definitely recommend to anyone in York.Thank you.

This is a great little restaurant! I have never had Nepalese food before and was interested to try buffalo meat, it was so good! Great flavours and the staff were friendly, professional and happy to talk through the dishes...Gurkha Beer and Golfen Everest beer is absolutely brilliant! Just wish it was more widely available in supermarkets!

Impressive. Amazing atmosphere and service. Staff are very friendly and helpful. The menu has very large choice of amazing food and my choice did not disappoint. We visited recently and enjoyed a delightful evening with dear friends and some excellent Nepalese cuisine. We booked a table but, even though busy, the staff welcomed in walk-ins too. Attentive, knowledgeable and friendly staff took our food requests and checked on how spicy we wanted our various dishes which all came promptly and exactly to our tastes The Mo-Mo dumplings are a “must”, starters or mains and we chose the mixed Thalli which came highly recommended by the restaurant and, now, by us. Great range of drinks and desserts although we were too full to partake. Can’t wait for our next trip to York and this venue.

Visited Everest Gurkha Nepalese Restaurant in York recently and had an amazing time! The atmosphere was cozy, the food was incredibly delicious, with each dish bursting with vibrant flavors. The thali plates are to die for - I highly recommend the lamb. The staff were incredibly friendly and provided top-notch service, always with a big smile. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a fantastic dining experience in York, regardless of age or occasion!

Consistently great food. The Momo’s are awesome. They’re good vegetarian options and the talli is also highly recommended. Service is quick and friendly.

Really good fresh food, friendly service and just a great atmosphere

Popped in for lunch and blown away by the food. I had chicken Tikka curry which was absolutely gorgeous and the husband had the Himalayan lamb which was amazing, the lamb was soft and tender and melted in the mouth. We had breads on the side that were freshly cooked. Starter was paneer pakora and we could have just eaten plates of them, very moreish. Staff were lovely and really friendly. A great place to kick back and relax.

Had it 1st Napalese food in Amsterdam and loved it, this was far better. The food was delicious, the mo mos are my new favourite food. The restaurant was spotless , the staff helpful and friendly and there was nothing about the food I would change. Will definately be back.

Family of 3, we shared a steamed and fried Mo Mo to start, followed by 2 lots of the Dal Bhat Thali Set menu, one chicken, one lamb with a mixture of lentils. This was enough for us and great because you get a taste of everything, service lovely with a smile.

My husband and I tried this restaurant and it was amazing! Next day, we ate again in such. The attendants are thoughtful, the place is clean and warm, but the best is the food itself. Delicious! Very well made and seasoned! So so good. We'll be back as soon as we can. I do recommend it.

Just had a fabulous meal here - steamed pork momo and fried chicken momo to start, then a chicken thali and a lamb thali (favourite) to share between 3 of us - just right. Also tried a mango lassi and the carrot hawla. All delicious and highly recommend.

Great simple food, friendly and efficient service, really needs to be tried

An excellent choice for tastey and well spiced food. First ever visit here and easily the best Nepalese yet. The butter naan was thin and crispy. I had a pork belly dish (never had pork in a curry dish) so..ooo deep in flavour. Hot but flavoursome. The fried rice also gorgeous. Jorvic and Paulicarus had a speciality Lamb Taas, a starter come main. All washed down with a large Gurka lager. Great service and advice on the food. Good choice for eating out.

Me and our lass came for valentines, as soon as we came in we were greeted by a well mannered gentleman who gave us a choice of seats, we picked by the window, within 5 minutes our order had already been taken. The food I cannot fault at all, I ordered the pork belly curry with special fried rice and it was divine, the Everest lager they have compliments the food very well, and I shall definitely be coming back.

We went yesterday for dinner, we were quickly seated, even with the restaurant being so busy. The servers were all lovely. Every bit of food we had tasted amazing, the portion sizes were perfect. Would highly recommend and can’t wait to go back.

Came with a group of over 8, and we were extremely well served. This isn't the first time we have came, and let me tell you, this won't be the last!!! So yum 😋

The Chilli chicken dumplings were incredible. We also had the Himalayan lamb which just melted in the mouth. Very comfortable relaxed atmosphere. We will be back

Our family had a great dinner here. We had a variety of the specials, and all of the food was excellent and tasty! The service was great! We look forward to returning here to try more of the menu items.

If I could give 100 starts to this place I would. The food was absolutely amazing and full of flavors. We had the dumplings soup, chicken tikka masala, pork belly with pak choi and two different types of naan bread with cheese and one with butter. I recommend all of these, but the dumpling soup was my personal favorite. The staff were helpful, chatty, delivered a great customer experience by making sure we have everything we need. Everything was beyond our expectations and will be coming back even if I am not even living in york.

Lovely welcoming restaurant in a city full of places to eat. Great spicy food, though it can be made as mild or spicy as you require. Prompt service and well priced.

Well,It was my first visit as I was craving for Nepalese cuisine. I liked this place,it’s warm at the downstairs,really cold at first floor. I would recommend booking the table at ground floor. The food especially momos and tash was amazing.Strongly recommended. Service wise,Rekha was very polite and was constantly checking on us.

A lovely place! Helpful staff explained the curries so we were able to select what suited our tastes. Plenty of vegetable curries. The garlic nan was, we thought, beautifully cooked as was vegetable korma. Will look out for more Nepalese restaurants in future. Everest Gurkha was a very good choice on our part for a meal out in York.

Happy New Year 2024 friends, I ame here during new year with my wife to celebrate. Also, were missing Nepal our country, we missed Nepal more after coming here. Dishes were tasty, favorite nepali spices aroma and taste. Live to come here again♥.

Excellent! We had our new year's dinner there and loved it. Everything delicious and great price. We loved the Taas starter, which was a good portion (could even be a main for 1 person), the lamb was meeeelting. I had never had the puffed rice before, very good. Then we also had the veggie fried Momo, the Sagarmatha Chicken, black lentils and garlic naan to share. It was enough for us two.

We were recommended this restaurant by our friends from Yorkshire Appetite Food Tours as it is one of their tasting partners. We visited on New Years Eve after a service at York Minster. Warm and welcoming atmosphere, the service was lovely and the menu had plenty of choice. We had the mo-mo dumplings to share as a starter then two delicious chicken dishes with Nepalese spices, and egg fried rice and garlic naan. All were delicious and tasty with great flavours. A great discovery and I’ll definitely recommend it

I had dinner with my friend and I had a really great time. We called ahead to make a reservation so we were able to get a seat immediately we arrived. The staff were so friendly and efficient. My friend is vegetarian and ordered the vegetable samosa. I tried and enjoyed it even though I’m not vegetarian. The portion sizes were great as well. I had to take home my leftover momos cause I was so full. It was a good dining experience overall.

Visiting York for the first time was an amazing experience. Together with my daughter tried to have a special dinner tonight. We wanted Korean food, but Little Asia, Bulgogi and Oshibi were closed. First, we walked in Indian Lodge York, Swinegate. They were two waiters...

Looking at the reviews me and my hubby thought of visiting this place. As we wanted to have something indian. But since indian food is not really indian in uk, we went to this restaurant. And I don't regret. Absolutely delicious food. Nepalese food a bit close to indian food but the food was not greasy or spicy like the indian unless you ask them to make it spicy. We really enjoyed the chili chicken momos, the chicken dal bhat thali, himalayan lamb curry. Absolutely yum. Highly recommended. And the staff are very caring and service was spot on.

Would have loved to have given this 5 stars because the food was fantastic! We had Dal Bhat Thali Set which was one of the best curries we’ve ever had and a brilliant selection. Unfortunately we became aware as we were having our meal and drinks that the man working on the bar was coughing all over the drinks and glasses and blowing his nose into the air/his hands. We are now both poorly for Christmas which is a real shame! Other than that, lovely service and brilliant food.

One of the best meals I've ever had. Perfect popadoms. Chicken and potato curry excellent, tasty and not too hot spice wise. The naan bread was the best ever. Service brilliant. Can't wait to go back again. Highly recommend.

The food here is absolutely superb. Had the chefs special challenge which has some amazing spice, not simply hot but also complex, smokey, fruity. Rotis are lovely and soft. Paneer pakoras and the samosa were also a treat, perfectly cooked and somsa had a very nice pastry with lots of filling. Service can be a little slow but it's worth it and the staff are very friendly. We enjoyed the upstairs floor seating, it makes for a very enjoyable experience.

My favorite restaurant in York ❤️

My husband and I have visited York several times and passed this restaurant many times but have not had a meal. So we decided to correct it this time! The menu is fantastic, a really good choice of dishes. A good selection of beers and spirits too, as well as soft drinks. Service was attentive and speedy. The atmosphere of the restaurant was lovely and we didn't feel rushed despite several large parties coming in. We will definitely be eating here again when we next visit.

Tried this restaurant yesterday initially everything was fine but when the mains arrived we were given small side plates which were cold and inappropriate,in fairness we enjoyed the meal but it was really difficult to manage on small plates but when we got the bill we were both shocked at the total . We are not the kind of people who complain we just consider the cost in regards value.Upon arriving home I looked at the bill and realized we had been charged £9.99 for a bowl of rice so I contacted the restaurant to check if this was right only to be told that it was correct and that it had been explained to me at the time which we both disagreed with. I still cannot understand how they can charge this for a bowl of rice.What a shame we thought that we had found a restaurant with a difference but sadly not the case I don’t like being ripped off and would never return.

Stopped into this Nepalese restaurant on a whim since I had never had Nepalese food before, it looked good, and every single pub in York was packed. OMG how good it was! I tried lamb TAAS, a traditional Nepalese dish consisting of Roasted lamb served with puffed rice and chutney, and Nepalese curry potatoes on the side. The staff are wonderfull too! I'm now a lover of Nepalese food! This place is highly recommended!

Went here before going to an event at the Barbican. My first time in and having been recently to Nepal I had to have the Dhal Bhat - and it didn't disappoint - the food was fantastic, brilliant value & service was wonderful too, with typical excellent Nepalese hospitality. Definitely will be back.

Called for a dinner on a Friday night around 8.45pm , all the food was spectacular and will definitely be trying more Nepalese food in the future! Stand outs for me would include: Lamb Taas Chicken Chhoila Dal Bhat Thali Set (chicken) Friendly informative waiter and nothing was too much. Highly recommended

My first time at a Nepalese Restaurant. The Everest Gurkha was a very pleasant friendly atmosphere and helpful in suggesting making the best of the visit. We visited on Sunday and had the Fried Chicken Mo:Mo a popular and traditional delicacy dumpling food of Nepal which was really nice. Then a main course of the Dal Bhat Thali Set, a house special of authentic Nepalese meal of yellow rice with a selection mixed vegetarian curries. This also had a side of beans and potato curry, pak choi, a poppadum, salad, chilli, tomato chutney and achar. This was a beautiful selection of dishes really got the taste buds alive. Will definitely look out for this cuisine again and if in York would go back to the Everest Gurkha. Very enjoyable.

Excellent! Found this place by chance while in York with a friend. The food was delicious, the wine acceptable and the staff efficient and friendly. We went back the next night too. It was also good value for money.

I turned up with a friend and it was great to see the place lively and full. A warm welcome from the staff! The menu was excellent and we went straight for the Nepalese recommendations. The food was absolutely amazing. Subtle flavours with choice of how spicy we wanted it. The staff were genuinely friendly and keen to talk about the menu. A thoroughly fabulous place now on my top list of restaurants to go to!

Would recommend this place for everyone. Such good food! I ordered their special beer, the masala tea, butter naan, the steamed chicken dumplings and the two bite Dailey soup. The soup was expected to be very small, but was actually quite big and more than enough with everything else I ordered. Would definitely not miss out on the butter naan, Holly Molly.

Food was delicious. We ordered their special chicken soup and lamb biriyani and enjoyed them a lot. Calm environment with a good service. Only one thing I would like to say that it would have been better if there was a good portion of meat (chicken & lamb) in our courses. Other than that we loved the aromatic nepalese cuisines😍
