The best restaurants in Ecclesall Sheffield Yorkshire and The Humber

Food is nice albeit a bit pricey compared to similar venues but didn't mind that so much. Obviously great location. What really got me was the fact that the item that had been the deciding factor in my food choice (that it was served with slaw) was out but they didn't update the board or told me at the point of order. When I asked at time of collection, I was simply told "oh sorry, we've run out" and then the guy moved on to the next customer. No offer of discount or replacing it with something else - just plain rude and arrogant tbh. When I chose and pay for food, I expect to get what I ordered and paid for. Things can happen but then be proactive, apologetic and make up for it otherwise. And just be dismissed was insulting actually.

The best fish and chips in Sheffield by far. Great quality food! Lovely staff! especially the owner who’s always welcoming and has a good chat. Much cheaper than any other in the area. Would definitely recommend the Abbey Friar for your fish and chip nights.

Food took 2 hours to arrive, when it did food was poor and a dish was missing. Shocking all round

I was told that the restaurant no longer serves food. Pity because they do have rooms and plenty customers in the bar. Even guests cannot get a breakfast.

Steadily knocking out great breakfast sandwiches... one of the only places you can ask for a runny yolk on your fried egg and actually get it... there’s nowt worse than ordering a bacon and egg sandwich and the yolk being set firm like a haribo. Well done to all the staff at Johannes... you’ve not let me down yet!!!!!

Usually I like to give places the benefit of the doubt the first time I go there but this was so bad I don't even know how this place is still open.. Firstly everything in the order was cold and they missed an item off the order.. Dinner totally ruined. Noodles were rubbery. Egg fried rice was just boil in the bag rice with a tiny amount of scrambled egg added, never seen a pan or any soy sauce or seasoning.. The whitest rice I've ever seen, I can make better than this.. It also felt slightly under cooked so look forward to feeling ill tomorrow. Salt and pepper chicken was burnt, every piece had black burns on it that totally ruined the flavour. Prawn toast was cold and soggy. I'd comment on the chicken balls but they were missing from the bag.. Needless to say we will not be returning and I recommend you don't either.

I have had issues with the delivery but the restaurant works hard to make things right. I love that there is great cantonese cuisine nearby! I can already see myself ordering from here once a week xo

Over the years we have had many takeaways from here but never again. We ordered food at 5.50 and told it would be an hour. At 7.20 I was told it would be another 30/40 mins. At 9.35 we gave up. What a farce!! And we were told they still hadn’t started cooking the meal. I appreciate it was a busy evening but it was the lying and no apology that annoyed us most
