ABSOLUTELY Amazing. Great buffet. Good selection of drinks. Lovely staff that went out of the way to make our time there extremely pleasure able . Definitely recommend to anyone.

Really impressed with my visit to the Abbey last weekend. Not somewhere that i would usually visit but local to me. Heard really good things from friends recently so thought id give it a try with family. We had a lovely meal really attentive with orders (picky children) staff could not do enough to make us feel comfortable and welcome we ended up staying longer than expected will defiantly be a regular visitor and would highly recommend, thank you the Abbey team look forward to our next visit 👍

Lovely pub with great atmosphere! We have eaten here 4 times recently and food always been fantastic - proper home cooked stuff. Really welcoming and staff are amazing too. Always felt comfortable with kids with us too!

Food warmed up told loads of dinners an wasnt cauliflower cheese, no cheese on it sprinkle of whatever pigs in blanket, no bacon beef fatty gravy warmed up

Had a funeral in the upstairs room. Not ready when we arrived. The room was littered with stuff just left lying about. Funeral flowers were dumped on the floor on the stage. Not enough chairs. 1 member of staff said “we aren’t ready yet” and the whole funeral party had to filter back downstairs. The nice girl behind the bar worked on her own and was lovely. I do think the staff need to have appropriate clothing for a funeral, cycling shorts were just a bit informal! The buffet food was nice and average.

Very poor. The quality was below average at best I had a steak sandwich with chips, it came as two slices of toast with little bits of steak on, a couple of 50grams at most, seven chips (yep seven frozen chips, small, not thick cut) £9.00 . Don't go here if your hungry, like good food, and can eat more than a two year old child. A once brilliant pub thats completly lost it's way. Never again, never.

Went in for a quick drink and was somewhat underwhelmed by the place. Bar young bar person had a negative attitude. Beer selection was poor and expensive Will not be rushing back, sorry

what has happened to the Abbey Pub, Went in for lunch with a friend we been many times before but have never had a worse meal in my life how hard is it to make a sandwich mine was burnt and my friends wasnt cooked (slimy fish) with 8 chips and the time it took to make a sandwich is unreal 50min..... no apologies. we will never go back

My first visit and I was impressed by the decor and cleanliness. The range of beers on hand pull was disappointing, however, and the Guinness I ordered wasn’t poured properly.

Great staff and a great welcoming pub atmosphere. Always seems to be quite full with a great mix of regulars and new visitors. Lots always happening every week with amazing bands on at the weekend and a very popular open mike night fortnightly on Wednesday evenings and a great quiz night. Festival weekends take place at various times the year and are definitely one of the highlights and well worth a visit. The landlord and landlady have really made this a great, welcoming place to visit either for a drink or to dine with the food becoming more and more popular.

I'm disgusted I used open table to book a meal tonight and on arrival I was told food was not being served. This pub shouldn't be using this service if they can not notify the system or their customers. Now we have to find a meal at this time in the evening on a Saturday night. I will never go to this pub again.

As a family we love this place. Staff are amazing, Em and Steve make time for everyone and ensure everyone feels so welcome. This is deffo one of our favourite weekend places.

Love the fireplace in the winter. Great service, huge open main drinking area with huge windows looking over their bowling green and bear garden and a smaller more quiet drinking area just off the main entrance. I do not go here often it's a 20 minute walk home uphill lol but I have enjoyed my time when I have been there, thanks again.

Exquisite building, Beautifully decorated to a very high standard.. large free carpark and bowling green. Spotlessly clean throughout and very welcoming. Upstairs function room with bar and stage area... Live music and open mic nights. Serving food from 12pm

Come here regular, been in Saturday 3rd February only stayed for a couple due to the girl behind the bar, we found her rude, no please or thankyou and quite miserable so left, the guy was nice pleasant and polite, feel she doesn't belong behind a bar. We was in here at 14.00

Just had lunch bangers mash peas and onion gravy. Absolutely gorgeous so tasty probably the best onion gravy ever and nice sausages.

Well here we go ive finally decided to write a review....my wonderful family and i went for a brisk walk around beauchief in sheffield it was a gorgeous sunday winter stroll. At its conclusion as we all know we need to find the BOOZER,,,, A few calls later we were directed to many establishments but the money shot appeared to be the ABBEY.. so off we trotted. Upon entering this watering hole i felt a tsunami warmth...arrived hanging from my walk and need to keep the mrs on point service needed to be bang on...... i looked at the barmaid (elizabeth) and pointed towards the madri beer.. superhumanly the girl knew exactly what was required and it was served within seconds with the biggest grin only joker would be jealous about the lagers bubbles almost fighting to exit the glass the the coldness was like been touched with the flags from the north pole,,, i kid you not the mrs went for half and my son opted for the fruit shoot which was serves at optimun temperature,,,, we were shown our table, perfect location in front of the bad ass tv in the lounge for the FA cup game .... PERFECT..... might be here for more than one me thinks....... oh and for the haters.... we walked home hahaha..... Anyways we all ordered beef,. Russ, Dan, kitchen chefs high five...... shortly after love on a plate arrived!!... pink beek, all the shhherrrrrbang covered in gravy was slick, silky, and banging...... r8 nice.... was then introd to the management team Steve and Em, these guys, came over asked if we were ok, clearly busy but gave us time of day, lovely people.......fair to say called in for one had 25 , sunday lunch which was so good value and quality surrounded by lovely lovely people...... this place is a right little gem...... avoid it its your loss BOSSHHHHHH x

My car broke down and we were pushed my a true samaritan to the carpark of the Abbey pub we asked would it be OK if we could stay in there carpark waiting for the AA the bar maid was lovely and concerned we were ok she was very nice and gave permission we enjoyed a nice drink lovely old style pub excellent hospitality will definitely call and have a meal a s a p

We attended for a wake so commenting on atmosphere would be unfair! Overall friendly, clean and understanding.

We booked a table online for the 4 of us for a family meal. The reservation was confirmed for 6pm. We arrived only to be told the kitchen was closed, I explained how was it possible to book a table to eat when the kitchen was closed, the lady behind the bar just struggled her shoulders and no apology was given. Wont be attempting to go back anytime soon, shame!

Very nice pb to visit great selection of drinks. The food smelled and looked lovely and a good menu to choose from. The staff were very friendly and definitely will go again

Large pub on a very busy corner. Small bar on one side with Taylor's Landlord on hand pump. Luckily Boothroyd tried the other Lounge door where the big bar and room has 4 real ales. Casta had a Little Critters Raspberry blond; very good. Typical pub food menu. Large car park and a paved patio drinking area and grassy seating. There is also a bowling green to the side of the pub. One TV showing sport in the Lounge.

My friend and I managed to get a table for Sunday the day after the King's coronation! I figured it would be fully booked, but it wasn't! Their Sunday Lunch is good! However, they are planning on tweaking their menu, so I would keep an eye on if it changes for the better or Not?!

Lovely meal and nice atmosphere. The food was delicious and the menu has a nice range of different foods to try. Parking is good outside and they have a nice function room upstairs with seperate toilets to the pub downstairs. We had my nans wake here and even the buffet food was great and the staff were friendly.

I come here for match tea after my hockey matches on the weekends with Bankers Club, it’s lovely and friendly staff.

Met up with some former teammates of mine for a catch up and to watch a World Cup match, impressed with the set up, decor, choice of beers and really good service and will go there again in the future. My own prefered beer was the Belgian Blue, a really top class Christmas beer. Turned out we missed much of the game through having a really good natter.

Me and my mum met my Aunty here for lunch yesterday I will never return I had the hunters chicken it was like warm and looked as though it had been reheated also there was no BBQ sauce on the chicken it was a piece of chicken with under cooked bacon and tiny bit of cheese on top horrible and dry I was up all night feeling ill as was my mother who had the steak pie very bad quality the food will not return here

We have just had the best Sunday lunch ever gorgeous beef fresh veg mashed and roast potatoes. Lovely Yorkshire pudding and very tasty gravy it's definitely the best Sunday lunch we've had in a longtime.

We ordered 2 Sunday lunches and a side of cauliflower cheese, we waited 40 mins from ordering for the food to come out. The cauliflower cheese was burnt, the beef was tough, all the veg was clearly frozen and they were definitely aunt bessies roast potatoes/ Yorkshire puddings. When we complained the chef said ‘it’s all to specification not my problem - I wish I could use fresh veg’. Very poor quality and small portions- you’d be better off paying for a weatherspoons lunch! Really really poor quality when compared to other local pubs like the big tree and prince of wales’ offering on a Sunday.

Don't wait your money, the food was dreadful and the management are rude and unfriendly, waited over an hour for food for it to be cold and tasting like it came out of a microwave, we won't be returning, I'd stick to the big tree.

Came here last week with my daughter for a drink and the staff were very friendly and efficient. Good prices for drinks and food. Definitely be coming back 🙂

It took 45 minutes from being seated to getting a food menu. We ordered the loaded fries, the picture on the menu looked lovely. When it came it was a few chips in a small side pot, with a spoon on beef brisket on. No bbq sauce or mustard as described. Nothing like the picture. We also ordered a side of onion rings, we got 4, hardly battered. My partner ordered garlic bread and got a couple of slithers.Staff friendly enough.Very disappointed as last time we came, although over a year ago, food was excellent.

First visit since lockdown outside drinks only. Five of us got together for a drink first time for months the place was fairly busy. Very well organised and covid checks in operation. A nice welcome to find lager gone up ten pence a pint. It's a great pub probably the best outside area around. They just need to get the service sorted very long wait to get a drink.

We visited today for lunch, the service was shocking and really slow and honestly, the food was the worst food I have eaten in a long time. Really really poor all together! I would not recommend eating here at all and you’ll be waiting ages to even get a drink when it’s quiet. Shocking!

Visited today for lunch which was terrible ... the food was cold and the service was poor too. The side salad was absolutely disgusting and not even fit for the bin. I had the fish finger sandwich which was served on stale cheap bread.This place needs sorting out urgently before it’s to late.

Visited with a friend tonight for a pint post lockdown pub opening, however, the service was extremely poor, we waited 40 minutes for 2 pints which never arrived, the waitress spent most of her time serving a table which she seemed to know the people on as they had been served 3 separate times while we waited. When asked where our drinks were, the waitress just looked at her phone and said they would be coming soon. She didn’t seem to have a clue what she was doing. I appreciate that it was busy due to the pubs reopening, however, to have to wait 40 minutes for 2 pints is unacceptable. I don’t know whether it was a lack of training the staff had received or the poor quality of recruitment but we will not be returning again. If you’re looking for quality service, look elsewhere!

Después de experimentar un escaso distanciamiento social en mis pubs locales, decidí visitar The Abbey y estoy realmente impresionado. Ahora visité 2 semanas seguidas, la semana pasada para comer y beber y la última noche para beber. Lo recomendaría al 100% por seguridad. Personal muy amable y consciente de cómo mantener seguros a sus clientes. Mesas interiores bien espaciadas con mamparas y servicio de mesa. Probablemente sea mejor reservar una mesa. Cuando finalmente nos sirvieron en el bar, que estaban esperando una entrega, por lo que no hubo transporte, las tazas de té fueron un extra 1. 20) El buffet salió honestamente, puedo decir que nunca habíamos presenciado algo así antes de que no estuvieran totalmente listos para nosotros. 1 plato de triángulos secos de queso rallado sarnies. Envolturas con atún nada más estaba mojado. Una docena de rollos de salchicha y una bandeja de papas fritas y un plato de cuatro condimentos en ellos. Todos nuestros invitados y familiares miraron incrédulos por lo que habíamos pagado 180. Fue una vergüenza total que no podíamos esperar para irnos. Preferiría haber dado a todos mis invitados 6 cada uno y llevarlos a la intemperie: cucharas por el camino. Un día tan triste y emotivo. Visited recently with a large group (19 in total). We took over most of the bar area but the staff were quick to serve and they had a very good selection of beers available

Once again the abbey does it another great new year. Five pounds to get in including first drink free and a lovely buffet. Excellent disco food prepared by top chef Dan it was a really good night.

Lucky enough to have this lovely pub round the corner. Excellent Sunday lunches prepared by a caring kitchen team.

La lasaña era una buena porción con pan de ajo y ensalada. La hamburguesa muy muy sabrosa con patatas fritas y ensalada de col. A los niños les encantaron las comidas y dijeron que las patatas fritas son las mejores que han probado. Muy bien cocinero Dan gran comida volveremos.

Nice tasty bangers and mash although I'm sure there was three sausages last time I had this. It's probably down to Brexit sausage shortage. Chicken sandwiche was really nice on brown bread.

Since Steve has taken over this place, the food and drink have been much much better. Always a nice friendly atmosphere and the staff are always friendly and polite. Their Sunday lunch is amazing. Cant reccommend it enough.

Seven of us visited here on Father's Day (apologies for the late review) 5 adults, 1 child, 1 infant. We booked the table in advance just to be safe.

Had a thoroughly nice evening. Food was good, atmosphere was pleasant and drinks were reasonably priced. Will be back for another date night :)

Visitamos el pub Abbey como parte de una fiesta funeraria ya que está cerca de un crematorio. Fue una agradable bienvenida que recibimos y que habían suministrado un muy buen buffet. En general, un muy buen lugar. Sólo un negativo para las personas con vehículos, el aparcamiento es bastante pequeño.

This place as really improved since the new landlord Steve took over. It's starting to get busy again and the atmosphere seems to be returning. The food is very good specially the Sunday lunch excellent for the money.

Very nice Sunday lunch for the money very tasty. Lovely roast beef nice Yorkshire pudding and very good gravy.

Menú limitado, pero puedo manejarlo, siempre y cuando haya algo vegetariano que no sea queso de coliflor, yo y mi familia de 5 fuimos al domingo y juramos a la diosa de arriba (y abajo) que tenemos una poción de papas fritas entre los seis de nosotros. Mega decepción.

1st time eating here and couldnt have asked for more! Sunday dinner was amazing, service amazing, would definately recommend to family and friends!

Saturday night Brian's 60th birthday party. What a great night good entertainment a very good turn out a great place to hold a private party.

I had noticed for the past few days on my regular journeys past The Abbey a board advertising "National Pie Week" and that they were offering a choice of five different pies till the end of this week .

Went here on a tuesday one evening for some pub grub with my parents and girls. Where do i start...from a yappy dog barking behind bar and the barmaid on her phone in her coat as if she was ready to leave, she had a face like id just pissed in her cornflakes. We looked at menu and noticed on a board above bar an advertisement for tapas tuesday...we asked but the cornflake lady said we dont do tapas tuesday anymore. Then take it off ya board woman! It was dark...perhaps so you cant see what you're eating.

Last Sunday afternoon, we had our son's 21st in the upstairs room, which is a good size & shape, with a private bar, a small stage and a projector. Steve the landlord was very accommodating in giving us access beforehand to plan and set up. Also he worked to our bespoke arrangements which we requested, such as serving glasses of Prosecco on arrival and assisting with technological conundrums around using the projector with our computer.

New year's Eve great atmosphere just enough customers to keep it comfortable. The DJ was excellent playing a great mix of good music.

A good pub serving good beers and lagers even better now prices have come down. The food is top quality probably the best in the area. The Sunday lunch is amazing for the money.It's definitely getting better under the new owners.

Cannot recommend eating here as the glasses are very dirty so what’s the food hygiene like ? the glass in the photo was being filled when I told the staff member not give me that glass.
