Really brilliant museum - really fascinating exhibitions with mixed mediums and free!! Lovely garden and cute shops! However, coffee place inside garden used such poor quality cups that they kept leaking again and again, despite receiving replacement cups. Ended up chucking our drinks as the spilling was just getting on our clothes! Please get better cups!!

There were different rooms with exhibits in each covering cutlery and knife manufacture in Sheffield from its earliest beginnings to the present day. There was an exhibition using virtual reality headsets looking into our galaxy and the stars. An exhibition on Ruskin was there too. The gift shop had lots of memorabilia to buy. Well worth the visit. It’s free to go in but they encourage voluntary donations.

As a wedding photographer based in North Wales, the majority of my work is based around the countryside. When I was invited to shoot a wedding at The Millennium Gallery in Sheffield I was so excited. The ceremony was held in the gallery and it was an absolute gem for a wedding! Flooded with natural light it created the perfect conditions. The central location made it easy to explore the city right after the ceremony for some epic, cityscape shots with the couple. I’m now desperate for my next Sheffield wedding!

Every time I've been to the Millenium Gallery I've seen something new. The exhibits are always thoughtfully presented with loads of accessible suplementary commentary and info if you want it, and I've never felt like I was being hurried along as I have in some other places. The whole place is very wheelchair friendly too. Honestly, I would give them 5 stars if they could just fix the one notable exception of door on the accessible loo. Its really heavy and hard to open when you're on wheels, especially from the inside, and having to ask for help to leave the loo is a bit humiliating.

Worth a visit for a quick overview about aspects of Sheffield. the assay exhibition plots the history of flatwear and other steel and silver production in Sheffield over the centuries. Also a exhibition of William Morris and Bauhaus designs, featuring some interesting furniture and some stunning dresses. A wide range of late 19th C and early 20th C pieces. In the main concourse are other Sheffield made exhibits and the opportunity to purchase Sheffield products, from honey to knifes and textiles. Currently there is a guest shop selling Christmas themed items from local designers, jewellery, clothing and decorations to name a few. Situated next to the Winter gardens and fully accessible. Cafe downstairs, which I have not used, so cannot comment on.

Went to visit the Ruskin , William Morris Bahaus exhibition. As a non gallery goer I love the Millenium Galleries as it's accessible and not too intimidating. However, the distinct lack of Bahuas was a disappointment, and one could have perhaps viewed more W Morris patterns down B and Q. The use of Ruskin's quotes was inspired. 'It is far more difficult to simple than fo be complicated' perhaps the exhibition was trying too hard to cover too many bases.

Still a great location with fine urban views out onto the sunny tree-planted plaza outside (bit too chilly to sit out there this time, despite the April sunshine), and the cafe still has this glorious spacious feel with high ceilings and well-spaced tables. Pretty good food (I had a tasty mozzarella and tomato panini, and my colleague had similar) but perhaps a little lacking in imagination? - served on a small plate so no room for a garnish or small side salad, which is almost obligatory nowadays. Not a huge range on offer either, surprising for a big city centre location. And the place feels like it's not loved as much as it could be: where are the paintings on the walls, or the sculptures displayed between and around the tables, or even plants next to the window taking advantage of the conservatory-like setting? - these are the Millennium Galleries after all. It feels like a slightly wasted opportunity, and certainly left me wondering if the Museums Trust which runs other locations in Sheffield (Weston Park, Abbeydale Industrial Hamlet, Kelham Island) ought to invite Joni's who already run the cafe at Abbeydale to work their magic here.....

Had a business meeting with a colleague and bought the coffees. The prices seemed reasonable £2.20 for a large filter coffee and £2.50 for a flat white. Check out the size of the flat white in the green cup. It was 3 sips in a cup that I could hardly get a finger in to pick up. You should be warned about the size before paying.

I only wanted a snack - a light sandwich would be bliss. For some unknown reason, 'light' was not on the menu. The sandwiches available initially did not appeal, but then I noticed something that took me back in time to the 1960s (I am a white-haired wrinkly aged 68). It was a 'fish finger sandwich', though I think in the 1960s it was served in a light bap. For some unknown reason, after school I was going to some evening event. It could have been a play at the Kidderminster Playhouse (we could go to early performances for a shilling - that is 5p). I ordered it. Whereas the 1960s version came with tomato ketchup or bown sauce, this came with tartare sauce! I awaited for the magic carpet to whisk me back to the 1960s. It was served in thick bread and was as ungraceful as an elephant performing in Swan Lake.

Visited during lunchtime and got the impression they are trying too hard to be upmarket. Soft drinks are small (£3) cans of Karma Cola or lemonade. I found the sugar free one undrinkable and asked for water instead after only a couple of sips. We both ordered a falafel ‘patty’ which promised slaw and minted yogurt. It was served on rather thick bread and was too dry. Had the minted yogurt been more abundant, it would have made a big difference. Staff were polite and helpful, but no cutlery or serviettes were offered.
