Had a lovely meal in the Holybush, the food was cooked perfectly and presented perfectly. Friendly staff and the food price is amazing, had a pint of Cruzcampo with my meal and it was lovely and crisp, they obviously care which is awesome. Will definitely be returning soon.

Had heard good things about the food here, so after a recent day out walking and before going to watch the ice hockey, we thought we'd give it a try. Unfortunately they'd stopped serving food it was only about 5.30. Gentleman behind the bar was really polite, welcoming and lovely, and the locals suggested a few other places to try. Menu looked ok, nothing outstanding though. Decor dated. It's not somewhere I'd look to try again though

I visited this pub, basically, just because it was there. I was spending an afternoon walking from Sheffield city centre out to some of the villages where I was due to sing in the evening, and after an hour of walking out of the city the first countryside pub is surely a welcome sight; even if it is located adjacent to a major A road. Unfortunately, when I entered there was absolutely no welcome so to speak. No landlord at the bar, no customers at the tables, merely a middle aged man sitting in the adjacent room mumbling to himself. The decoration, I immediately noted, made the pub seem like it was attempting to be a city-centre dive, rather than an out-of-town local. The landlord did show up eventually, and although I could see what ales were on, I asked him of his opinion in regards to taste and price. He was clearly phased by the question, as if he himself did not know what drinks he was serving even on his own premises. I eventually settled on a Yorkshire classic: Farmer's Blonde; it was served at almost £4, far above the £2.50 one can quite easily find it for in the city centre! I did note that they serve reasonably priced food deals, but after looking at the photos others have submitted on here - even the ones accompanying good reviews - I must say I am put off from that notion. The landlord barely seemed to know his ales, the place had an oddly unwelcoming feeling, and there was definitely a touch of Farage about the wall decorations. For these reasons, I would probably walk past it to the next one on the next time.

Tried here after passing several times. Empty pub when we walked in which should have rung alarm bells. Menu out of date & wrong prices on. Advertised outside as 2 meals for £5 at lunch time, but now £6 !! I had pie of day, chicken & mushroom, no chicken or mushroom in it, just a tasteless sauce. My 3 friends all opted for Liver & onions with mash & seasonal vegetables, but no mash, so got chips instead , Liver ok but swimming in watery gravy & with frozen peas. Eventually bar man came & took plates & we told him that Liver gravy etc not good & that the pie was awful, but no comment, & just brought us the bill without asking if we wanted anything else. We decided to go to a local cafe for coffee after. Never again, most unwelcoming pub been in. !!

What can I say. I'm not a fussy eater, and it's been a long time since I returned a meal, but after attempt number 2 we requested a refund and went to MacDonalds instead. We ordered steak pie of the day and a filled Yorkshire pud. The wrong pie arrived. Not sure how this happened as the pie had the type written on the edge in words. This was sent back. Meanwhile my wife tucked into filled Yorkshire pudding. This consisted of a Yorkshire pudding which was thin and transparent on the bottom, one half slice of gammon, 2 very small roast potatoes, peas, and 3 small spoons of sloppy mash, all swimming in a sea of gravy. The mash started to disintegrate into the gravy before the meal was finished, which didn't take long due to the child sized portion. Complete rip off at £6.95. Meanwhile I patiently waited and waited for my attempt number two, until I was eventually presented with the correct pie a small quantity of mushy peas, and a half plate of raw chips. £4.95 refund received. Some pubs should stick to selling beer, this one included. This place does not meet reputation of Yorkshire Fayre. Avoid if you're looking for a nice dining experience.

Went in for the 2 for a fiver deal as our usual haunt of the Peacock was busy due to a large party coming in. There definitely was no atmosphere, toilets were in need of a huge refurbishment, and the food....regurgitated, processed and tasteless. We appreciate it's 2 for a fiver but other places provide fresh and tasty food. This was neither.

Our 2nd visit, this time with Groupon voucher. Noticed that the room was quite cozy compared to previous visit. Bar staff not very responsive; preferred to continue chatting to people in other room even though the member of staff had seen us waiting. The lad who waited at our table was very pleasant and attentive, the food was very nice. Unfortunately, apart from ourselves, and 2 or 3 people in the other bar, the place was empty. Definitely no atmosphere, and not good bar service. Don't think we'll be going back!

1st visit and pleased with choices and prices. Mentioned how cold it felt when we ordered drinks, bar staff had not noticed, said they would put heating on. Only one other table in use in lounge. Food was lovely, hot & tasty. Again mentioned cold & server said he would turn heating up. By the time we left it was slightly warmer!
