Good food, fairly quick to serve

Love this place, delicious staff, however once upon a time, me and the squadron entered, and were having a swimming time, we pondered to get some chicken wings, however, the clock struck 11, we were devastated. It was NOT the staff's fault. Steven Smalls cried. This can be forgiven, as the toilets are quite good.

Stunning building and setting, gorgeous views from the patio areas. Food was the same as any Wetherspoons, decent but never anything special. Good parking but don't forget to put your registration in at the bar!!

Never enough staff on. Currently waiting 40 minutes for one drink to be bought to the table.

Not going here anymore. Went today bank holiday Monday at about 3.30pm. Ordered medium rare steak and both came out mooing couldn’t eat it. A female staff member who was starting a shift walked in at the same time as us with a face like thunder I held the door open for not even a thank you and then another female staff member blonde behind the bar No manners whatsoever ask politely where the toilets were and literally got barked at no smile know anything just makes you want to leave. The only nice thing was the lovely lad who brought us our food he was great. I get they think we’re annoying for entering their premises but it’s a joke how they are some of them. Don’t work there if it’s that bad and you hate to serve people. The blonde bar tender was like it won’t ever customer she served. Maybe change jobs love

Dishes like fish and chips, burgers, and curries are staples. The portion sizes are generally generous, and the food is decent for the price point.

Nice pub and great place for a meet up with colleagues

In one sense this is a run of the mill Wetherspoon's. But look closer and you will see The Francis Newton is a beautiful building in pleasant surroundings. As ever with Wetherspoon's, what they do, they do well. Breakfast for the price is faultless. I've paid less than £4 for a good pint of beer and a pint of Coke. Nicest 'spoons in Sheffield. 11.12.24 - Another visit and another great shout as the prices remain so cheap!!

massive rip off, dont go here. food rubbish, staff surly, toilets dirty, pub smelt and then you get a nice fine for using the car park,although there are no signs and none of the staff tell you. Easily the worst pub in Sheffield

Stopped in after work, just before they stopped serving food. The chef was incredibly cheerful and checked with me exactly how I wanted my steak. Perfectly cooked steak with sausages, chips and veggies. All for about £10 with a drink. I would give them 11/10 if I could. Easily the best experience I've had at a Wetherspoon's. Most good restaurants can't compete with the quality of service I had tonight.

Nice to.sit in the sun but it was busy

I was to eating food and drink in 8 of March in the evening in the very busy time . I spent £14.99 for my meal. I didn’t see the monitor for car park which is in Pub area. After few days I get a penalty charge. I came to the pub and speak with manager and he was rude to me and after 30 minutes he told me you have to appeal to company. Even the customer in pub was shocked how manager was rude to me. I did appeal to the company and they rejected me. I called to pub again and they said we can’t do anything.

Bad day to visit. Chock a block with students. Though inside not too bad. Used app to order food and drinks. Wait time for food 5mins. Wait time for drinks 2 mins. Food arrives lovely and hot, so tuck in we do. 5 then 10 mins past, food eaten no drinks. Went to bar to ask about drinks, fobbed off we're very busy. 25 mins after arrival. Drinks turn up with mumbled apology. Asked the server who was a team leader about the delay. Mumbles again about how busy they were, and I should have checked wait times. I did, I tell him 5 minutes it stated. Shrugs mumbling something else as he walks away. Well Mr wetherspoons. When it's quite cos all the students have gone home. And your pubs empty again. You will be another 2 customers down again. Because I will be eating and drinking at the York, or Prove, or anywhere else that isn't here.

31 Mar: First two trips to the coffee machine - 7 people queuing, some with multiple mugs (thats up to 10 mins wait). The coffee machine area has three 'stations' (two coffee hubs and a hot water dispenser) - but barely enough room for one customer at a time. The condiments table blocks two of the machines, so you need to wait until the customer has added sugar, brewed the tea etc before the next person can use the left coffee machine or hot water dispenser (why not move it away a couple of metres?) Aside from this, the cappuccino portion here is 60% of mug size, so a second top-up is required, doubling the time spent using the machine. Easily solvable issues in my view. Another option might be to station one coffee machine at the other end of the pub, which would save a lot of people trekking back and forth (past the entrance and weaving round the till queue) to get a coffee refill. Surely worth a try?

Husband went here, didn’t realise he had to register the car, got fine of £45, why don’t they tell people or make it more obvious, you don’t expect to get a fine when parking and eating at a pub. Won’t be going here again

Hemos estado aquí varias veces, y en cada ocasión el servicio es peor que la vez anterior. Es inusual que la gama completa de cervezas que se ofrecen esté realmente disponible. Nice venue and location but had to chase up food and didn't arrive until everyone else had finished their meal!

I have been many times in this pub. I enter my car's registration each time on console in the bar. However, I received a parking fine, even though I could prove with debit card payment, on that day, I was a customer, their manager said they got nothing to do with the car park. Eventually, they passed it debt collectors , and they keep increasing the fine,make it unaffordable to pay, hundreds of pounds. Management here at Francis Newton, they won't care about this, if that ever happens to you as a customer.After, checking reviews here, I realised ,I am not the only victim. So,victims like me must claim against these scammers, Greedy thieves.This is how they get richer and richer.

He estado muchas veces en este pub. Introduzco la matrícula de mi coche cada vez en consola en el bar. Sin embargo, recibí una multa de estacionamiento, a pesar de que pude probar con el pago con tarjeta de débito, ese día, yo era cliente, su gerente dijo que no tenían nada que ver con el estacionamiento. Eventualmente, le pasaron cobradores de deudas, y siguen aumentando la multa, haciendo que sea inasumible pagar, cientos de libras. La gerencia aquí en Francis Newton, no les importará esto, si eso alguna vez te pasa como cliente. Después de revisar las críticas, me di cuenta de que no soy la única víctima. Very expensive as got a parking fine for parking next to the pub. Signs hard to see and very bitter aftertaste for having a nice meal.

Awful spoons. Always get something wrong and the service is horrendous. Tables are left dirty for ages and staff are rude. Never come here

Staff were useless walking past tables full of dirty plates and empty glasses. We sat down and after 15 minutes and staff walking past the table 5 times I had to ask for them to remove the previous occupants dirty plates, however he failed to return for the glasses!! Food all came out at different times, wrong food brought out. Then when asked I asked for the rest of our order was told with attitude they didn't have it on the order ....even though the drinks that went with the food had been brought out!! She then appeared 5 mins later apologising and served a cold Korean chicken and rice and an extremely dry, burnt round the edge pizza. !!! By now we were running late and didn't have another hour to wait so ate what was edible and left. All in all a shocking experience.

This spoons can’t be beat. Nice relaxing atmosphere. Good ambience. I look forward to all my hospital appointments because I know I can come here for a full English and a lovely quiet Guinness afterwards ❤️ Only problem is they are arsey about you smoking fags on that fancy outside bit. It’s not even that fancy.

Really nice Weatherspoons. Opened at 8am. The car park costs money BUT DON'T PAY! Go inside and resister your car number plate on the machine at the bar and you get free parking. Nice breakfast, with bottomless coffee and hot drinks. Fast service too. The Francis Newton is in a lovely old building with lots of areas to sit in. So hard to get free parking in Sheffield, so this restaurant was nice to go to

Not the best experience. Garlic bread burnt to a crisp as were the nuggets. Staff polite when food brought to the table but no one checked to see if the food was ok.

We have been here a few times but this will be the last time. I was given a dirty cup for my drink, when the food arrived we was given dirty cutlery and the food was the worst we have ever had.looked as though it had been cooked and left awhile. It was cold. No one came to ask if everything was ok like usual. Probably because they no it's not.

Mis dos o tres visitas más recientes con amigos habían planteado preguntas bastante generales sobre cómo se organizaba la dotación de personal los fines de semana (es decir, insuficiente), pero una visita ayer realmente ha sellado el trato en lo que parece ser una desaparición completa y completa de las instalaciones. Uno de los vasos estaba sucio y cubierto de lápiz labial. Fue en ese momento que decidimos que ya habíamos tenido suficiente. La zona exterior estaba llena de platos sucios y vasos apilados en cualquier espacio disponible en las paredes - no se movieron durante todo el tiempo que estuvimos allí. Los clientes tenían que limpiar las mesas ellos mismos, lo que se sumaba a lo que se estaba acumulando: había servilletas y restos de comida por todo el piso. Nos dimos cuenta de que dos trapeadores y cubos habían quedado en el patio de las pasarelas, lo que era un peligro inmediato de tropiezo, sobre todo cuando comenzó a oscurecer, ya que eran de color negro. El gerente había pasado por delante de estos (y toda la vajilla sucia, etc.) varias veces durante la tarde y simplemente los ignoró. Sus prioridades eran más que totalmente equivocadas para la tarde y si alguien cayera sobre esos cubos, todos sabemos dónde habría terminado. Si tienes poco personal, cierra completamente el área al aire libre para el servicio de aplicaciones y prioriza la clasificación del personal de tu bar: es sábado por la tarde y hace calor, por supuesto, el pub estará ocupado. Sun out people out supping pity not enough staff to serve. Stood 10 mins at bar waiting to order 2 drinks staff got blinkers on. Sat down to order on app and took 25 mins to get a drink Bye bye . Wont be back

After entering the door, no one pays attention to you at all, as if you don't exist. The waiter's attitude is relatively indifferent, and the speed of serving food is very slow. The service attitude is extremely inconsistent with the atmosphere of this restaurant.

Kicked me out for having a monster can

I normally have fond memories of the Francis Newton but today I was disappointed. The bar steward was quite frankly rude and unhelpful. After battling through her disgusted glare I managed to order my breakfast. It was pleasant. But I shall not be sharing any more of my custom here due the rudeness of this lady. I ate my food and swiftly departed. Furthermore there was food missing from my friends plate. This has left a bitter taste in a mouth that was previously sweet. Noah

Although part of my meal (chips and mushy peas) were cold, overall I had a good experience at The Francis Newton, in Broomfield, Sheffield. The Shift Manager "Yev", without being prompted, kindly refunded part of my bill to compensate me for the cold food which I thought was very generous and courteous of him. The pub is relaxed and comfortable, and although part of my meal wasn't up to scratch, the Fish and Chicken Wings were served hot, and all ingredients were fresh and very tasty.

To be honest the nightmare that is parking for an hospital appointment helped me discover this fantastic litte oasis. It also warms the soul to know that a commercial business isnt milking the public at their most vulnerable by charging over the odds for the opportunity to park. Its not free but totally reasonable and as pubs close by the hundreds its refreshing to meet decent staff and enjoy a bit of good grub! Well done team Francis Newton

Me he unido a Trip Advisor solo para revisar el terrible servicio en The Francis Newton (un Wetherspoons Pub) en Sheffield hoy temprano. En primer lugar, llegué a eso de las 12. 15 p.m. y tuve que despejar una mesa para poder sentarme en algún lugar (no me importa ya que es una práctica bastante estándar en Wetherspoons) y luego ordenar en la App a las 12 . 21 . Four frozen chips described as baklava potatoes....with layers was just a joke as a starter at £2 a chip. So bad it was actually funny. Main was ok. Dessert was unavailable. Servers were nice people. Company was great but we supplied that ourselves. Friends apple pie lasso thin and floppy from the microwave it could have been mistaken for garlic bread. Was described as coming with custard. When asked where the custard was, we're told it was meant to be custard ice cream but there was nones it was just ice cream. 😂

Food cheap and chearful, burger and chips with drink inclided not terrible for £6 Chips were a bit rubbish but burger was good.

Top end Whethers. Due to the demographics of the clientele, this is a great pub. It's at its best when the University is on holiday, otherwise it's Student Central at certain times. One of the staff described it as "a creche with alcohol"! The ale is always good and at proper northern prices. The food is OK as normal for the chain. Really there is nothing to fault. Wish other pubs would give this sort of value. Love your business model Mr Martin 😊

Refused to serve my Romanian friend as they “didn’t feel comfortable” accepting her ID- simply ridiculous that such inequality can still occur in this day and age- in a spoons as well. Just truly shameful. tut tut.

El Francis Newton es uno de los mejores Wetherspoons alrededor. En realidad es una casa de campo situada en jardines y jardines finos. Mostly all nice but two friends got bad food poisoning from the chicken last night, we think because they ordered food a bit late it was rushed and wasn’t cooked properly!

Just been hit with a parking fine. Didn't see any signs. 1st time visit and thought it was pub car park. Do the pub get a slice of the fines produced? We work for nhs and went for a meal. No visible signs or even asked by staff if we had paid

We got there and all the tables were heaped up and not cleared off, the food was bland and portion size was small compared to other Witherspoon’s

We asked the bar staff nicely to clear a table for us as it was very messy, he said it would take an hour to clean, so we bought the empty glasses up to the bar ourselves. He then had a go at us for doing his job and has refused us drinks for the rest of the night

Incredibly busy, but expected as much on a Friday night. Service was slow but they were clearly over-crowded, so I can't complain.

The breakfast bacon was absolutely perfect. I'm not a bacon girlie but it was perfectly crispy and salty, I ate the whole lot.

disgusting place, we will never be returning. Awful hostile staff, someone called Hannah served us and made us feel really unwelcome just coming for a friendly lunch. Someone needs to speak with this person and never allow them on the bar again.
