Lots of football banter and good fish and chips.

Just been out for a couple of beers and decided to go to the chippy for supper. Got cod and chips twice, it was all cooked fresh and enjoyed some great conversation whilst I waited. Very reasonable price and top top snap. Great place 😀😀😀

If you want a fish cake or chip butty go elsewhere, never ever any bread cakes. Been 4 times and all 4 times not 1 single review. And to the owner who just reports all 1 star reviews no it isn't harsh. It's not a fake or biased review. Once or twice no bread cakes I guess are acceptable but the last 4 times isn't

First visit, would go again. The largest portion of chips is big enough for 3 people.

Warm & friendly service at the Abbey Frier, good portion sizes and lovely food. We went as a birthday treat, I haven't been there for years, but the standards remain very high. The person who served us was extremely friendly and warm, we were made to feel like regular customers. 5* service without a doubt! The food was excellent, really tasty cod and chips. We would definitely return and recommend to friends.

Had high expectations after reports here and from family but was so disappointed. Chips were undercooked and greasy. Fish was just ok. Won't rush to go back.

Fresh Haddock and Cod cooked to perfection every time so worth the 15 mile round trip. This experience of fish and chips can not be improved on. Thank you.

I don't post very often, visited 13th May. Very poor made to wait an hour for 15 meal order while being strung along another 15mins another 15mins. Lots of other peoples orders for multiple items were made Could have refused at onset to takeorder. Not impressd as vistors to Sheffield. Disapponted minibuas of children. Took them to Macdonalds instead. In response the shop was empty when we 1st spoke and placed order at 6pm. We returned at 20 past and told to wait. Yes there was a queue when returned 6.20. Queried again at 6.30 wait another 10 minutes. It was 6.45+ when my patience wore thin due to lost time and knowing I needed to get a take away for 12 children and long drive home with them. Would it have been different if 15 individuals placed order at 6pm?

One star for speed of service. Sadly, some of the blandest food i ever eaten. Don’t get me wrong its just a chippy and Im no ‘foodie’ but i was jealous of the sweet potato and sardine i had given my dog at the same time. Not to mention the price . . .

This is undoubtedly the best Fish and Chip shop in Sheffield. I have been a customer for over 40 years and have always enjoyed the excellent fish and chips and friendly service. They cook all fish to order which ensures you get it freshly cooked and it hasn’t been waiting around for ages. They specialise in delicious chunks cod steaks in crispy batter. Andrew and his team are always great you can even phone them up so you don’t have to wait

Says closes 9.30 today (Thursday) but arrived at 8.30 to find that "oh we changed the times". No supper, not impressed.

Shame in this day and age that there are no vegan options at all. It will mean we go elsewhere. Many families these days have at least one vegan, especially in S11!

Service was slow, fish was small, fishcakes were over cooked but the young girl who served me was very pleasant, she is the reason I even gave a 3 star

By far the best fish n'chips you'll get in Sheffield. Traditionally done with friendly staff - their lunchtime special of a small fish n'chips is excellent and well worth the money.

Everything we ordered just tasted old I asked for a small mushy peas and they microwaved a huge tub and scooped out a little bit which was just a foamy mess (I can only imagine it's been microwaved God knows how many times) couldn't eat any of it may aswell just give my money away complete waste not happy at all dog wouldn't even touch it literally tried

Very expensive for such a small piece of cod! Poorly wrapped (way too tight!) Ended up a soggy mess of batter after 5 minute drive home. Fish cake ordered by the wife also tasted like it was somewhat past its best. This place used to be great and I've been coming here for 38 years, however, it now falls way behind other places like two steps and new cod on the block, which are much nicer and waaay better value for money!

Great local fish and chip shop food always freshly cooked.

Waited for ages to be served because the serving lady was gossiping for ages with an obviously known customer. Usually go to "Two Steps" on Sharrowvale road but decided to try an alternative for a change: Big mistake! Soggy chips, meagre fish with not nice batter. Two Steps you are worth your weight in gold!

All the food is good and the portions of fish are massive too massive and massively expensive. There's all ways a wait so make sure you get your order in as soon as you get in the shop, don't get to the front and then order something they have to cook. The menus good staff friendly but get someone else to pay

Been living out in the sand pit for 5 years, came back this month and have to admit the fish and chips are a massive plus to coming back to the cold. Highly recommend.

The chips were nice. The fish was average but the mushy peas and curry sauce were both on the thin side. OK chippy but not the best.

Fish & chips done in beef dripping, not cheap but you get what you pay for.....delicious!!!! Really friendly staff will definitely be returning

He llamado en un par de veces en mi camino a casa desde el trabajo en 9. 45:00 y he tenido peces encantador, sabrosa y patatas fritas. A pesar de que cierran a las 10:00 la comida no sabe como se hubiera mantenido cálido y era encantadora y fresca con pasta crujiente en los peces y en 5 libras. 95 es una muy buena relación calidad-precio.
