Village Balti House in Sheffield

Over the years we have had many takeaways from here but never again. We ordered food at 5.50 and told it would be an hour. At 7.20 I was told it would be another 30/40 mins. At 9.35 we gave up. What a farce!! And we were told they still hadn’t started cooking the meal. I appreciate it was a busy evening but it was the lying and no apology that annoyed us most

So I went in the other day with some friends and was pleasantly surprised they’d updated their menu and made everything look much cleaner than what it was a few years ago. Stupidly I ordered 2pc chicken and chips, one of the pieces of chicken was still freezing cold to the touch in the middle which is pretty grim. Didn’t finish the chicken but the chips were okay and my mates pizza looked good. I genuinely would never buy any sort of meat product from this place as I can’t imagine they store/cook it correctly and you’re likely to leave the shop with an upset stomach.

Terrible, wouldn't recommend at all

Do NOT order here! Our order took 70+ minutes to arrive. They somehow forgot 2 of our items and also swapped a main dish for something else. We complained and they never apologised. They also claimed to have sent a driver to deliver the forgotten/wrong items, but he never arrived. It's just another sleazy takeaway that'll hopefully be gone soon. A massive waste of time and money.

I won't be using this place after my last experience. We ordered four meat mains with rice and a few sides. One was wrong, and it was all rather tasteless. We all agreed it was 'rubbish' and we'd not use the place again.

Used to go here all the time, just had the worst curry I have ever had. The sauce is store bought, chicken is dry and the naan is stale. Avoid at all costs, will be complaining to Datman Ltd

I have no idea why some of the reviews are so bad. Been going here for more years than I can remember. I moved abroad and still come back here every time I'm home. Owners and staff are very nice people.

Absolutely dreadful. Used to be really good. Prawn tikka masala bright red, tasteless, cold. Mixed tandoori grill bland and cold We ordered at 7.30 for collection at 8.30. Not ready until 8.45.Sat waiting for 15 minutes. Will be using a different curry take away from now on. Never again . Used this place for 20 years but now it is too awful to ever go to again. Kitchen staff also looked dirty, aprons soiled etc. Avoid at all costs!

Absolutely dreadful. Used this place for 20 years, has changed hands a couple of times but always good. Now new management have no idea what they are doing. Prawn tikka masala bight red bland sweet tasteless gunge. Tandoori mixed grill tasteless, poppadoms soggy, minute helping of mango and lime pickle About a teaspoon of each. Ordered at 7.30 for 8.30 collection. Not ready until 8.45 and cold, had to microwave, Avoid at all costs, we will never waste our money there again

This is not an Indian take away!!! The food is diabolical, it’s more like Italian tomato sauce than a curry. The popadoms must have been two days old, as they were chewy. Honestly, this place needs closing down.

I’ve been going to this takeaway for along time when my family fancy A Indian!!! but today food was poor! the chips was under cooked and cold the poppadoms was soft and very poor and the mint sauce dip was hotter then my chicken roganjosh 🙄🙄😤 was not happy today hope it was a one off or will not be coming back

Food was ok , I asked for HOT Bhuna and it was very mild, the Onion Bhajis were still doughy in the middle and the pops were soft☹️

Amazingly tasty as always, ready on time. Absolutely the best I had so far. I’m a returning customer and have been recommending this place to everybody. Proper Indian taste experience!

It was 20 minutes late and was cold i had to reheat it when it got here

Ordered from here I think three times now and this is solidly our new Indian take away of choice. Food arrived very quickly at least twenty minutes before it was due (and I think it was due in less than an hour! I don't know how they did it!). Food was of excellent quality. Me and mum love their special rice. Kashmir was excellent- small quibble- would have liked to be able to find a little bit of pineapple in it as was mentioned, but was still our favourite dish so far. Pasanda very good as always. We've noticed that the onion bhaji's are a bit hot for our tastes. It would be good if you could choose the level of heat with them as you can with many of their main dishes (brilliant that they have that option at all). Love it. Never ordering elsewhere unless you change the cook!

Amazing!! Order was delivered in 20 minutes i was surprised when I heard a knock at the door so early. Food was really good, both curries tasted amazing and all the sides were great. Will happily be returning!

This is the best Indian in Sheffield, having moved out of delivery distance, I will still drive there and collect it because it is unbeaten in my eyes. The food is always delicious, never greasy & big portions so you never feel hungry after you’ve eaten there. 10/10 would recommend.

Great food, I reckon the best jalfrezi there is... There was a small issue with the order which was fixed in just a few minutes, excellent customer service!

Good food over all. The madras wasn’t quite hot enough though which is obviously down to personal taste.

Wow. This was probably the best Indian takeaway we have used. The food was amazing and satisfied four fussy eaters. The food was hot, well packaged and the delivery driver was really polite. We will be repeat customers from now on.

This was the first time we’d used Village Balti and it certainly won’t be the last the dishes were all sensational.. I was very impressed with the way the food was packed too. Great price, can’t wait for next time

Enjoyable meal. Generous portions, and delivered on time. The prawn puri was tasty. Chicken Vindaloo was full of quality meat, and I like being able to choose the spicy-heat level..Garlic naan and chapatis were fresh and absolutely spot on, and the raiti very high quality. Only negatives were that the puri pastry was slightly oily, and the curry sauce could've been a bit more rich. But still great overall.

Brilliant food, delivered quickly and hot. The tandoori king prawn masala was really tasty with big chargrilled prawns, the poppadoms felt homemade and delicious and the garlic naan was tasty. Great price as well and worth every penny. I'll definitely order from here as well.

We ordered from here for the first time in a while as we've moved out of the area. The food and service was just as good as we remember. We arrived to collect a bit early but still weren't waiting long. The food was still really hot when we got home, despite a 30 minute journey. Will definitely return next time we are in Sheffield.

The 3 main meals that we ordered all tasted the same bland and tasteless. Nothing tasted freshly cooked. All items had been reheated including the onion bhaji and nan bread. The lamb karahi was unrecognisable as all the meat dishes were made up of few tiny cubes of nothingness.

I ordered a mixed kebab sizzler, and a chicken korma. The kebab was incredible, but the korma was inedible. I gagged on the first mouthful. I don't know why, but don't order a korma. Everything else I ordered with it was lovely, it's a shame really.

Good food as expected from The Village. On the early side of the time slot which was great because we were hungry.

Have been ordering this chicken tikka naan bread kebab for 10 years , it is still as delicious if not better than when I first ordered it .such good value as the portion is massive and always consistently good . Highly recommend this , you will not be dissapointed

This has become our new favourite takeaway. It is great value for money and usually delivers on time. Only gripe is that the same dishes can come different each time. I can only presume you use different chefs?!

The BEST Indian I have ever had. Food was top quality. Will be having again. Onion bhajis were so fresh and curry was beautiful, not watery and full of oil like some places. Yumm

Food was only slightly late but had a message from just eat so it didn't matter although a new eta would be a good addition. The food was amazing. Never had fish pakora before but they were delicious. The fish karahi and naan was also some of the best I've had

First time ordering from here, & I will definitely be ordering again!! The only thing I would change though is having sweet potatoes in the Saag Aloo apart from that it was delicious

I ordered off my app for my Mum, I was appalled when the delivery driver left me a voicemail asking what number the address was!! How can you not number the house number?! I obviously wasn’t at the property so didn’t expect him to call. My mum said once he finally got to the house the delivery driver was extremely rude and abrupt. It’s a real shame this ruined the meal!

Chicken overdone, way to much sauce and fairly tasteless. Driver didn't want to drop at my door as raining and insisted I go out and meet him at his car.

Probé una comida para llevar y no me decepcionó, el cordero madrás era uno con chiles verdes extra picantes, simplemente perfecto, el arroz con champiñones, el kebab, el fantástico pan naan estaba impecable, de hecho, había tanta comida que terminé por terminar la noche siguiente y fue aún mejor. Por favor, si estás en la zona y necesitas una dosis de curry, tienes que probar estos tipos. Es tan bueno que estoy de vuelta aquí esta noche también.

Arrived within an hours as said bread was amazing but the dishes were just tomato sauce sag alloo was delicious but chick khari was too acidic had to leave it

Ive ordered from this place before and the food is nice. It was hot and there the portions are good. It arrived 10 - 15 mins earlier than expected. The delivery driver seemed kind and said 'enjoy your food' which was nice (other companies could learn from that) The only problem I find with Just Eat is they will not deliver to my actual door, I live in a flat. Sometimes im in my pyjamas, so coming down is a chore. Plus I pay for delivery, and convenience and that is inconvenient to me. I undrstand Covid restrictions, but this was in place before. It puts me off using the service. But all round, a nice meal.
