We went to their Easter Friday Tapas evening and had a really tasty meal. Excellent food and excellent service.
The restaurant had a really good buzz and the prices were reasonable.
My only comment would be that Tapas is normally served with lots of small plates that you dip into. This place spread the plates out like a tasting menu for 3 hours, around 10 plates in all. As a result we got some delicious plates but equally many dishes needed accompaniments. We asked for bread to help us with a lone sausage we got on a plate and it helped massively.
I am very rarely in this part of the world but would happily visit this place again next time I am.
Top marks.
Very disappointed with our recent trip here, my friend and I decided to have the 2 courses from 8.99 offer. Which we’ve had it previously and the portion size & the actual meal seemed so much better.
We had garlic mushrooms for starter & fish & chips for main course. The fish was tiny I don’t even think it would fill a child let alone an adult, I went home hungry.
We also heard the table next to us complaining. Saying that you can’t fault the carvery, I’ll be sticking with that in the future.

Been ordering for years but the quality seems to have dropped lately. Ham & Pineapple pizza they’ve replaced the ham for a cheaper alternative and it’s just not the same. Shame really, always been nice up to now. It’s the most expensive it’s ever been too.
I have never experienced such haphazard service at a restaurant.
Although it was a busy evening there were plenty of staff and this may have contributed to the lack of coordination.
The incompetence started with the drinks order. A bottle of wine arrived on the table about 15 minutes before any other items.
The food service was OK and we asked for a doggy bag for a nice piece of leftover fish.
Unfortunately this request was ignored and the fish was thrown away.
After waiting about half an hour for the dessert order we were told that the kitchen hadn't even received it!
We decided not to bother.
Although apologies were received no compensation was offered.
Very good food, service a bit patchy, v good to start ...once starters & mains sorted very well.....staff had to be called over rather than they came to you...which is fine but inconsistent with first two courses. Enjoyed the food & evening. I thought pretty good value too. Thanks.

Tired and dated, needs a good make over, electrics not tested for a couple of years, don't go on Sunday either to
eat, as only Sunday lunch available, which was bland, car park at rear , full of rubbish.
Only good thing was the tour guide, very informative and funny
Mothers' Day: what a way to spoil the day. We arrived and waited for our allotted time. We were sat and we waited and we waited. We actually waited 55 minutes before the food arrived. On arrival my wife (who's Mothers' Day meal it was) received a frankly cold meal. It was taken away and reheated (allegedly) to approaching tepid. My Sunday Lunch would have been okay if I'd ordered a child's portion!
The bill received I gave my feedback. The manager stated the kitchen was busy; so? They took the booking after all.
A percentage was taken off the bill but I gained the distinct impression the manager felt this had resolved everything. I wanted a good experience at full price because a reduced priced bad experience is still bad. We shall not be back and we are local!

Highly Recommended, Best in the town Belgain Waffle Huddersfield has maintained its standards, let be service, quality and timing of food, they have never let me down, been to Halifax branch with family but I prefer travelling to Huddersfield 😋 😋 😋 😋 😋
We called in on a walk from Slaithwaite at lunchtime.
Great personable welcome from the landlord, lovely staff, good beer choice and spot-on food all in a friendly atmosphere.
Well done Scape House.

It's a nice place, a bit pricey. Wasn't keen on the bar staff as they were a little rude with certain customers. I certainly won't be going back there any time soon.
Not a fan of the changes particularly the seating. Shame there aren't some bar style tables at the windows to enjoy the canal view. Majority of seating is communal tables which is awkward when solo.
Not a fan of the public handling the bread either. And is all that plywood food safe?
Also "please wait to be seated" has never worked well during the various trials here over the years
Was a regular for years but won't be so much now.

The restaurant has now permanently closed as of 30/10/2023 apparently due to foreclosure on the property . We found this out once we arrived at the restaurant yesterday evening 12/11/2023. Ignore the fact you can still book online as we were also victim to this. Such a terrible shame as this was a fantastic restaurant.
Absolutely unreal burger. If you ever visit Holmfirth and are hungry you MUST go here! Without doubt the tastiest burger i have ever had, cooked to perfection 👌 Well done Lou and big shout out to Joe as well 🤣
