Lovely place to stay - beautiful surrounding woodlands & scenery

Exceptional atmosphere with a busy bar from early evening until late, great food and great people.

All round excellent - lovely setting, great breakfast, really nice staff and very comfortable.

We visited the Woodman shortly after the refurbishment, a great welcoming space. A good selection a ales was pleasing to see, whilst the little guy behind the bar lacked personality the waitresses more than made up for that, in fact they went out of their way to ensure we had a great evening. Food was faultless, service was really good, and fun. We will definitely be visiting again soon.

What an absolutely stunning venue which we had the pleasure of having for our wedding! From the first time we walked through the doors at a wedding fair to walking out as husband and wife the day after our wedding we were absolutely blown away by not only the beautiful setting but also the staff who really make the Woodman the perfect place to say I do. Nothing was too much trouble with all our guests saying we’d found a diamond and that they would definite be revisiting for weekends away. You made our dream day become reality, taking our ideas and rolling with them while adding in your expertise along the way. Thank you again and we can’t wait to come back in the future (we’ll make sure to visit at least every anniversary ❤️). Thank you again, Mr and Mrs Levers xx

Food very good, and service was also great. Amazing location and scenery. Rooms could do with an update as getting g a tad tired. Also our ground floor room had no security windows, which was poor as meant we had to sleep with the windows closed all night.

Peter at front of house looked after us superbly after a long drive. Massive room, comfy bed and warm. Great breakfast too...

Stayed over for a new year's eve wedding and it was a lovely venue, everywhere is clean and looks beautiful. Our hotel room was comfy and spacious, comfy beds and fluffy pillows. All the staff were great even though it was new year, even new years day they all had a smile on their face. Food both during the wedding and breakfast the next day was delicious and plentiful. Would have been better if the weather was nicer, especially as the toilets for the wedding part are outside, but the venue did provide some umbrellas and the marquee was very warm. Only criticism I could have is there was a few young children at the wedding but no fruit shoots or similar behind the bar so it was blackcurrant cordial in fancy glasses- we were very lucky there was no major spills or breakages! It also seemed that any time we went to the bar for cokes etc the glass sizes and prices were always different, not a major issue but was a little odd.

Really good stay. Restaurant was good quality as was the breakfast.

There for a wedding reception we ate in the restaurant for lunch and stayed overnight. It certainly wasn't cheap but it was a nice pub/restaurant and hotel.

Ideal place for the wedding and evening event. The stay over and breakfast after excellent all round.

Visiting family over Xmas: Excellent stay & meal together with 15 family who live close by.

Overall a great place to visit. Service fast and professional. We stopped for a meal, scotch egg started was superb. However the braised beef cheek was lacking flavour throughout and the creme brulee was smash in the face coffee followed with wrong dense texture and 2 biscuit that were closer to mdf boards Weird location but has parking opposite the pub so no problem there.

The food here was banging ! I have never had a better burger in my life !! This is some serious business. Plus the sticky toffee was just perfect!! Thanks to Kai for the great service, very attentive and pleasant :)

Lovely location and facilities for a dinner party. We had the buffet style meal and it was varied and tasty.

Good place, quite friendly but parking or coming out from the car park in winter is a bit challenging

2 night stay for a family wedding. Everything was amazing from start to finish! Food accommodation venue staff! Can’t fault it. Highly recommended 🤩

One of the worst meals i have ever had, would advise you all to stay away. Couldn’t fault the staff (except the cook) keep away. - not even worth a one star review.

Called in for a sandwich lunch after a lovely local walk. There was an excellent choice of fillings with generous portions of fries so we both enjoyed our meals and my husband appreciated his pint of locally brewed beer.

We went for dinner on a sunny evening and sat outside on the grass. I really liked the location, looking at the trees or at the cute pub. You have to cross the road to get to the garden, but the road is small and not busy. The goats cheese salad was delicious. The steak pie was horrible, the meat was dry and the pasty was rock hard: avoid the pie!

Found the woodman after a walk in the woods. Great staff and service. Food was excellent. Had a good time and will return

Excellent pub and room was very good. My only gripe was the constant banging of fire doors which kept me awake through the night. They are on slow closers but the last few inches the doors slam. Maybe put something to cushion the bang.

Booked a table here a few months ago as staying in the area. Got seated in the bar area and not the restaurant, not sure why as not that busy. Food was nice but very salty, but service not so good. Wouldn’t go back as I’m not a fan of everyone bringing their dogs in at dinner time.

We got married here and we try to get back every year for out anniversary. Each time we come back we are treated with the highest quality from food to the over night stay.

We had a lovely meal, there were 6 of us and everyone loved their food. In particular, I had the whipped goats cheese starter and the chicken supreme main and both were excellent. The service was excellent and we felt well looked after.

My wife and I recently treated friends to a lunchtime birthday meal at The Woodman. The food was superb, the presentation excellent and the service very good. We would highly recommend The Woodman Inn, to which we will return in the future. Ron & Tricia Berry

I’ve only ever eaten at the Woodman so can’t rate a stay but the food and service are great.
