The best restaurants in Kirkburton Kirklees Yorkshire and The Humber

Thought we would try this place out not impressed with the overall experience of food the Sunday dinners beef not great nor the service waiter/staff took telling over 3 times for desserts had to wait over 30 mins for just brownies in the end just had to say cancel it too much time for something that take a couple of minutes to do the next day most of the family had upset stomachs wouldn’t recommend this place unless the service of communication to the cook and food standard is more on point than mediocre presentation we were compensated some money off the desserts but even the brownies are nothing different that shop bought similarities and tight portions to say the least the differences between kids to adults sizes not by much. To say the least and the only major positive was the decor of the overall place well set out looks inviting at least.

Had the most amazing Sunday lunch here. The trio. It was the best I have had in a long time. Service was great and staff were lovely and friendly. Lovely county pub.took our dog too and there were dog blanket ,biscuits and water bowls for you to use. Will definitely be going again.

Visited The Golden Cock over the weekend and had a wonderful time. The service was excellent, we were made to feel very welcome and were shown to our table straight away. I had the southern fried chicken burger while my husband opted for the steak and ale pie. Both were lovely, followed by the crumble to share for pud. All in all we had a lovely afternoon and will definitely be returning.

Really pleased. Family visit with 2 elderly mums ( great disabled access) and two daughters and partner. Not been in years and the food was great. Sunday roast and fish and chips. Lots of veg. Crispy fish. Very pleased. Wine( Marlboro Sauvignon) not fully chilled. It’s the only fault I could make. Didn’t spoil it. Great ambiance and good service. Overal… excellent

Only went for a cup of tea, no food

We regularly have a takeaway here and have never had a bad meal not sure what the other reviewers have eaten but the special chop suey is great.

The food was excellent, as it was on Friday; however, tonight's service was unacceptable. Our server was discourteous, exhibiting a stark contrast in demeanor compared to her interactions with other tables. This inconsistency was unprofessional, especially given that our requests were simply order modifications not possible through the app.

Food was excellent , service friendly and efficient, overall lovely experience. Will definitely be back.

ordered a few times from here but tonight's was by far the best! as a veggie it is hard to find a take away to accommodate but stack shack will do any of their burgers with the veggie patty. Today we decided on the buffalo blue cheese for a change and my god it was deelishhhhh. highly recommend for good food and fab service

We were celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary with friends. The food was wonderful and the staff were helpful and friendly. The atmosphere is lovely and unlike many restaurants it wasn't too noisy to have a normal conversation, even though it was fairly busy.

Called in today on the off chance of getting seated and the staff bent over back wards to help us out and get us seated. Food was beautiful and tasted great. Would absolutely recommend the sun inn and will definitely be going back.

We enjoyed a wonderful Suday Lunch, food was superb, portions were a very generous size, both beef & pork dishes were excellent, vegetables were cooked to perfection with a very large Yorkshire pudding. Desert choice was excellent and all were delicious, Service was absolutely first class & atmosphere was just right.

Came with family on Saturday night and easy to turn up and get a table. Food was really good, lovely flavours and tender chicken. Service was really good and would come again.

Nice local pub. Comfortable, pleasant surroundings.

Despite a lack of English, the owner and main man is really nice, tries to be friendly and talkative. And he makes a mean Kebab.
