Rising Sun Huddersfield in Kirklees

Recently been taken over and has gone downhill a bit. Still nice inside but a poor choice of lager's and because of that there are less customers. We left at 10pm ish on a Saturday night and there was hardly any one in (and not many more when we got there at 7.30.) Less customers = less atmosphere.

£5.10 for a shandy?! The most expensive pint of shandy I had in my life! It wasn’t even half-half… 2/3 of the glass was the lemonade and only 1/3 was the beer. Whole pint of a beer is £5.40. Half a pint of lemonade is £2.50! Also buying separately half pint of lemonade and half pint of beer will save you £0.20 compared to buying a full pint of shandy! Where is the logic in this? This seems like an expensive pub that cannot justify the prices they are charging.

When you run a hostelry, especially one in the “out of town” criteria, and you cater for dogs… good idea to have the correct opening hours on Google. People schedule stops, mid walk… and when you post 12 weeks ago you open at 12… do it… not still be closed at 1445.

Lovely to see it re opened, nice and friendly pub. They have johns and carling so both myself and partner were happy 😊 Nice decor and lovely clean and decrotive toilets. Beautuful views. Small car park, though you can park on opposite road. Been a coupls of time since opened and will definitely go again.

Absolutely lovely looking pub, great drink selection and fantastic welcoming staff, Anne, Alan, Paul & Kat. Great drinks selection - well priced. Clean facilities. Pool table, darts, bandit etc. well worth a visit.

Out of town. Popped in with the dog for a pint. Prompt no messing about service. The dog was looked after just a good as us. Pint and a wine for us. Pork scratchings and black pudding for the pup ❤

Visited on a sunny Sunday afternoon, place was quiet. Landlord / bar staff seemed friendly enough decent mix of indoor out door seating. Seemed covid secure.
